As my home con, Furpocalypse, approaches for this year I ask myself: what's my place and purpose in the fandom?

I've been in the fandom for almost 16 years. I've drawn, attended conventions, and since 2019 fursuited, things that not every fur gets to or wants to do. But lately I feel like I want to do something else, something more, but what?

Maybe going to this con will give me the answer.

Hey all! I'll be taking the next two weekends off from uploading art due to vacation.

In this week we had three major deaths:

Malcolm-Jamal Warner
Ozzy Osbourne
and today Hulk Hogan

Of the three I'll miss Ozzy the most since I'm a metal head.

No art for the next 2 weeks as I'll be packing for and attending Garden State Fur the Weekend!

Where: Hyatt New Brunswick, NJ
When: Thursday Evening, 5/1, through Monday AM 5/5
What: Besides attending panels and checking out the dealer's den, I'll be hosting my panel "Customer Service Horror Stories" (Date and Time TBA) and fursuiting as VEX the Hellhound and Pufflehuff.

But, I'll be doing some Halloween themes art of my characters and some fanart too!

I know I haven't been using the Journal function much beacuse on the days off I'm typically busy with making art.

Anyway, I realized that I've been drawing since 2012, and yet I wonder: Does my art reflect how well I've progressed, or no?
Art is a constant improvement, and I want to be the best at what I'm creating. I also know there is plenty of room to go with what I'm doing.

I've reached a milestone of 1,000 Submissions!

I am so excited! I've been drawing since 2012, and I feel this is a great success.

You probably saw that I'm posting a new Art Series called Art's Guide to the Furry Fandom. This gives an overview to new furs or people who are curious about the fandom. The first part is about what Furry is and a brief history of the fandom. Part 2 is how to make a fursona. Part 3 is about Furry Conventions. After that who knows! (Maybe Fursuiting?)

I feel that being in the fandom for over 10 years means that I can accurately explain some things and give helpful tips from my experience.

I'm in a creative slump. I feel like my art is bland at best and I'm not improving as I should. Blegh!

Hello!

This journal to basically to catch up on what I've been up to. It's no surprise that my art has been sporadic, mostly due to work/ life. There is also this nagging artist's block that has been around since the pandemic as well as second guessing my art style. Now, since 2011 when I began drawing I've improved, but lately I've looked at my art and wondered "is there a better way to draw the characters I love?"

So I'm going to be doing a few things:

1) More art of my characters Art, VEX, and Pufflehuff.
2) More art of my Sonic OC, Glaze.
3) Overall trying to improve my consistency and quality of each piece (symmetry, no weird or stray lines, etc.)
4) Perhaps doing a few female characters? (I've done some in the past like Felicity Bunny and Ino-Scent but I need something that resonates with me).
5) And yes, I'll be doing fanart from sonic, Freedom Planet, Star Fox, etc.

So here's to improvement in the future!

Sometimes, I think about my art and the art others make and wonder "what makes a good character?" I'm not talking about brand characters from an animated TV series, movie, or video game. I'm talking about an Original Character someone made. What makes some characters a success, garnering attention, notoriety, and even popularity and others not so much? Is there some winning formula to making a memorable Original Character beyond the obvious practice and making lots of art of said character?

Hello all! A little bit of an art update. I decided to put my comic Shadows of the Past on hiatus. I also deleted them from my DeviantArt and FurAffinity sites. There are a few reasons for this.
1. Experience: honestly, I don't think I'm at that level yet to try another full comic. My current art is good, but I need to draw better and varied poses and expressions, tighten up the line work, and improve shading. That means focusing on a full page drawing.
2. Time: I work full time, so drawing is limited to mainly the two days I'm off if I don't have anything else planned. I also suffer from periodic burnout. This means time plotting out a comic is tricky.
3. OCs/ Established characters: Let's face it, when I draw known fan characters, people go nuts, but when I draw one of my own, the reception is mild. Now I'll still draw OCs, but maybe not in a comic form.

So that's the story, and I thank all who have liked, commented, or followed me. It means alot.

After over a year and a half not attending a con I'll be going to Furrydelphia in Philadelphia, PA from 8/12 through 8/15.

What will I be doing there? Attending panels, visiting the Dealer's Den, and fursuiting as Art and VEX!

You're probably wondering where all the new art is. Well, first of all, I just got back from vacation, so I needed some time to catch up on a few things. Secondly, I had a bit of a creative slump this past month, and I'd rather take my time with my art rather than rush it. Lastly, right now art is a hobby, and one that I can only devote to during the weekend if I'm not busy with something else.

But rest assured that I will be getting back to posting new art. I have some of my own art, and some Requested Art to do. I'm also working on my next Aqua the Otter which I hope to start sketching soon!

So, as some of you may know, I'm open to Requests! Yay!
This will help give back to you, the viewer, as well as help improve my drawing skills.
A couple of things to note:
1. I only do SFW art right now. Suggestive is fine, as is hugging and kissing. Please no requests for Lewd Art.
2. Typically I draw Anthro Art (mainly feline and Canine), Sonic, MLP, or Freedom Planet. If you request anything else, I can do so but it will take longer to draw a character that I'm unfamiliar drawing.
3. I work full time, and drawing is my hobby. This means I have 2 days I'm off and able to draw something, providing I have nothing else going on. Please be patient.
4. Right now I'm only taking single art pieces. Comics take a very long time to plot out and draw, and I usually only can do 1, maybe 2 if I'm lucky. Also please keep a request to one art piece at a time.
5. My art will take priority over requests, so again please be patient and I'll take care of your requests.
6. I have the right to refuse or adapt any requests as needed by my comfort level, time, or interest.
