General | Posted 14 years agoEh, just needed something new.
Dude I'm OLD again.
General | Posted 15 years agoI say again because this seems to happen every 364 days. Damn it all.
Anyways I'm 21 now. Must get myself a power chair to wheel me around before I break a hip.

[Poll] Taking up sculpey again
General | Posted 16 years agoSo hey, I kinda want to start making clay things (stylized keychain-sized animals) but I have a couple of questions for you guys.
Would you prefer to have a small set of various animals to choose from? You'd be able to have them painted to your liking. If you like this idea, state specific species that you'd be interested in seeing done.
Or would you rather just get a custom done?
Would $10-12 (usd) each be a good price for them?
Thanks for looking. :D

I hate you, UPS
General | Posted 16 years agoD:< I ordered my new cage for Beep and was given a tracking number for it. I've been looking at it every day and even though it's had a long journey, it's been shipping quite well.
Until today, that is. It was supposed to be HERE today. And just now, they update the tracking thing and changed the bloody delivery date by three days. From its spot right now, it takes only three hours to get from there to my house. But no, now I have to wait three more bloody days for it to make a three hour journey. That's crap. That's complete and utter crap.

Song of the Week: 1
General | Posted 16 years agoWell here we go! It's finally time to start this project. For those of you who don't know, this project is to help spread music around. What's been stuck in your head this week? Do you love it? Do you despise it? Is it a guilty pleasure of yours?
--My song of the week: "Exogenesis, Symphony Part III (Redemption)" by Muse.--
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1LujNObw1JA
Goodness, where to start on this song? It's not what I'd expect to hear from this group, but at the same time, I love it. I didn't like their newest album much when it came out, but a few of the songs have really grown on me since we bought it.
The song is rather slow but when I hear it, I imagine two friends running in slow motion, playing a game of sorts. The song itself is very simple and beautiful. It's magical.
So now it's your turn! Whether you hate or love the song that's been stuck in your head this week, post it! Let me know why you feel the way you do about it. Link us to the song as well.

Turning 20
General | Posted 16 years agoI'll likely be asleep when it happens, but I officially turn 20 years today at 8:02 am. Have I really been alive this long? Crazy, man.
Also, Song of the Week will be starting as soon as I can get my mind straight. Till then, cheers! :D

Random idea I had just now
General | Posted 16 years agoWould anyone participate if I started making a weekly journal regarding music? I'd like to call it "Song of the Week". Basically it'd be whatever song I happen to be addicted to or that is just awesome/funny/significant, and I'd post it here. Then you guys can also share your addiction of the week. It'd be a little music exchange, you know, just to change things up and share. I love love love sharing and finding music, so I think this might be fun. Let me know what you think. :)

Time for another weird dream!
General | Posted 16 years agoYeah, I don't know why I post these.
The dream started off being a little weird. Our current house had just been finished bein built, and a guy named Nate was going to help us throw a party. As I was thinking about how many people might be showing up, we also were discussing that the cats shouldn't be kept indoors. Instead, they should be let in or outside just like they are every day. I agreed, but didn't want any of them to get run over by a guest at night. Shortly after this I poked my sheltie near the tail with my foot, and her old coat (from the very back of her to the tail) fell off completely. I was a bit shocked, but her coat underneath was a brilliant creamy white. Also, just before I'd walked into the room the weather outside had made a drastic change from being late summer (as it is now where I live) to being covered in snow.
The rest of my sheltie's coat was shorter, as if she'd lost the rest of that old coat without me noticing. On her back right leg I saw something written in faded ink just beneath the fur.
September 28, 1989 -
(And under this was some mention of the breeders/kennel involved.)
As I looked over the inscribed words I heard the woman-breeder's voice in my head. "It was so strange. The dog was so smitten with the tattoo..."
Shortly after I saw this, I showed it to my dad.
Then I woke up. With the mental image of that tattoo still fresh in my mind, I made the connection. That wasn't my late sheltie's birth date at all... It's mine.

To my coworkers:
General | Posted 16 years agoYou suck. Well most of you, anyway. Stop calling me on Sunday mornings expecting me to pick up. I'm not home unless I've been scheduled to work that day.
Brook- you work well but since you literally walked out of the door today, I've decided that you suck. Because of you my day off was ruined. No jetskiing out on the lake for me. No more training sessions/fresh veggies for the birds today. Oh, and I don't really get to work on commissions, either. Thanks man. You suck.
Pat- Honestly you just tick me off. Stop changing my schedule and then "forgetting" to call me to say that you've changed it. Also, stop leaving me by myself to work in the early afternoon. I can't handle getting rushed. I need at least ONE other person there to make things run smooth. Customers get furious with only one person working.
Melissa- Take a long, long hike kid. I bloody hope you don't CRY every day at the other jobs you take on. Oh, and please stop making friends with people just so you can talk trash about them later. Although I never befriended you because I could see how stupid you were, it made me mad that you talked crap on people who I like working with.
Chris- O.k., so I don't really hate you at all. But quit being such a jerk to Kristi. Yes, her boyfriend is messed up, but you totally don't have to jump on her for his faults. Other than that I have no issue with you. You're pretty awesome and funny.

Deep fried laptops = delicious
General | Posted 16 years agoWe had a storm a couple of days ago and it rendered my laptop useless until the next day. (I couldn't even turn it on and there was no indication of life at all)
I called Dell and seriously... right after we had everything arranged and the conversation ended, I went to my laptop to try once more. Lo and behold, it bloody fixed itself. I noticed that the battery was kinda screwy though. I mentioned this to the Dell rep that I talked to. The parts that actually connect were bent and a little misshapen, so I asked that they check it out as well as why my laptop just decided to be a jerk.
Anyways, they told me that they'd send a box in a couple of days. But they actually had a box shipped to me overnight. o____o They also included a label for me to put on the box, which also is for overnight shipping. Paying extra for a good warranty is so worth it, folks. (Especially on things like electronics and tires.) One mishap can strip your wallet in a heartbeat. (Now if only I could get insurance on my animals...)
So tomorrow I'll be sending in my laptop to see what they can do about the battery connection, if anything. I think I'll have it back in less than a week. :3

Hey help me name him/her
General | Posted 16 years agoI'm going to go bring home another budgie this Tuesday. I want ideas for names. I'll need female and male names since I haven't actually picked out this budgie yet.
My current budgie's name is Gem, or "Manly McBeefington" if you're my brother.
Suggest names please.

General | Posted 16 years agoIt's really no secret that my mother is a sucker for animals. For the most part young kittens (especially calico) are her weak point and occasionally puppies catch her maternal eye.
I think this fever she has is finally spreading to another species. She's been trying to convince me that my budgie, Gem, should have a friend. ("Wink wink nudge nudge say no more.")
Today I gave her a list of issues with that.
1. I would need a smaller, second cage.
2. I would need a place for that second cage to be. (another room, in other words)
3. This room would have to be monitored and no cats allowed to linger.
4. I'd need some more toys/food and water dishes, extra cuttlebone and mineral block, more millet and more premium seed mix. (I need more anyways)
5. Gem needs more time with me. He needs training.
6. No matter where we put the new budgie, I can guarantee that they will hear each other. And this will happen for 30 days, no exceptions.
She had a couple of solutions. Haha.
1. She offered to pay for a new cage.
2. Her room could house the budgie/cage. (but the cage would be in front of a large mirror)
3. The cats will be kept out (Riiiiight. Two of the cats will often sleep in my parent's room.)
4. "You're good at making toys."
5. During the 30 day quarantine there will be time to train both individually.
6. Why not keep them in the same room then?
I thought I would be terrible and get Budgie Fever. But it seems quite the opposite. My mother had never really considered birds before. But now that she's been around Gem, she wants him to have a buddy. >_<;;

Recurring theme in my dreams
General | Posted 16 years agoI don't know what the heck is wrong with me. I do not live near volcanoes. I'm not afraid of them. I've never even SEEN one in person.
So why the heck do I have so many dreams with them?!
The most recent one was last night's little adventure. I can't tell you where I was, but I think we still called it Earth even though it was just flabbergastingly not Earth at all.
There were a lot of dry rocky cliffs everywhere. I'm not even sure why we colonized in the area, honestly. But anyhow, we were kinda close neighbors with a volcano that is, well, absolutely massive. Also, we have these chubby dragons everywhere. I can't recall them being too useful, but they were as tall as an average human. I think my friend Bean was there, too. But suddenly we notice that the projectiles from the volcano are devastating areas that are many miles away from us. Whew... O.K. I guess we're safe for now. But then it starts raining hell on us. Volcanoes don't like to exclude people, ya know? By the time the dream was getting more and more ridiculous, I woke up. Man... now I'll never know if I survived. Bugger.
A few weeks back I had another volcano dream. We actually were in space. I was crammed, quite literally, with two other people in a small capsule-like thing that broke off from the main ship. The capsule itself was flimsy. Yes, flimsy, and we were concerned that if the lid were to pop off, we'd all be screwed. Tell me, who builds a capsule out of rubbish with the notion that all is going to be well when we take off and go to another planet billions of miles away? They deserve a kick in the pants.
*Ahem* In any case, we somehow make it to this strange planet. The natives there greet us after we make a mess of the field we crashed in. They look human enough. But then I believe they decided they've had enough of our shenanigans and they try to eat us. BUT WAIT! Is that a volcano I see in the distance? Why yes, yes it is! Cue eruption. Cue frantic running and screaming. We then make a mad dash for the ship (which I swear looks like a can of tuna) and attempt to go to the planet we were actually supposed to go to. Ha ha, I guess we should have taken that left at Albuquerque.
Volcanoes are the things that invade my dreams most. What's yours?
A bad time to be famous!

Adventures in smoothieland!
General | Posted 17 years agoLast night my brother came home and informed me that he would be staying up quite late because he waited until the last minute to write his paper. Yay procrastination. He was craving smoothies as well. We had only two ingredients; orange juice and ice, so we had to go to a supermarket.
There we found the rest of what we wanted; strawberries, vanilla ice cream, and a couple of bananas. We also found some peach nectar and we were pretty stoked about that.
While we were looking for other things to eat (everyone else in the house left to Mexico) we found some bagel bites (pizza deliciousness) and other stuff. In that same isle we saw some blenders and we scoffed at them. This later bit us both in the butt. :C
So we get home and I'm putting everything into the blender we have. I push a button and all it does is make a loud growling noise. I look at the bottom, and the parts that grip (and cause the blades to spin) are so worn down that they're useless.
Mmk, no problem... we still have the food processor, right? That too does not want to work at all. Which is odd because my parents made carrot cake not too long ago and it was working just FINE. Sam and I then realize that we're pretty doomed now. We still want those smoothies!
We found a messy solution. You know that little Slap Chop thing? Well, we've had a similar chopper from Pampered Chef, so we start pouring chunks of strawberry, banana, etc., into a bowl and put the chopper into the mess and start hitting the chopping-button-thing.
Prior to the chopper thing I was using a potato masher in a giant pitcher to try to break the fruit down to size. It wasn't working at all.
Despite all of our shortcomings, the smoothie still tasted great; it just had a lot more texture and chunks of ice. "It had character."

Like indie music?
General | Posted 17 years agoTake a listen to Andrew Bird. It's quirky and catchy. I've only been listening to it for under 30 minutes, and I'm hooked.

Sculpture commission?
General | Posted 17 years agoI'm thinking of opening up one sculpture commission slot. Interested?
--Price: $30 for one character (May cost more if it's complex. Does not include shipping.)
What I *can* do: Animals/"ferals", or fictional animals if you give me plenty of references.
What I can't do: Equines (I don't trust my skills enough in this area.), humans, anthros, etc.
----
Although I can work from a written description, having picture references make a huge difference. (It is said that a picture is worth a thousand words!)
If you have any questions, please ask. :)

Skinny dipping!
General | Posted 17 years agoI brought home a new budgie on the 27th and I'm convinced that he's an absolute nut. His name if Gem, and when he gets excited, he performs acrobatics; lots of twisting upside down, playing in his food dish, and yes, even skinny dipping in the water bowl.
I've already taken the water dish out twice to clean it. But he seems determined to dirty it up. I even put a larger saucer with shallow, warm water in it, but he didn't seem to want to bathe in that. x3 He's crazy.
*Also, once he calmed down from his stunts he sat on my finger. :D
