YEAH IT WAS! I forgot to post a post-con thing so uhhh...

I shared a table and was seated between onnanoko and ajin, and for being squished into basically a foot-and-a-half space, sales went REALLY WELL. I had my commish queue over-filled every day and made decent profit on top of travel/con costs!

I made a LOT OF BUTTONS, and a buncha portrait badges, and a handful of sketches and inks in peoples' sketchbooks. I got to hang with lots of cool people (you know who you are, don't make me list all of you I'LL CRY) in the afternoons and evenings and did a lot of art homework with sigil whom I was rooming with! IT WAS LOTS OF FUNNNNN. <3

Now I'm just super super excited to do RF in September... since I got a table ALL BY MYSELF (WOW) and miiiiiight be sharing it with tehsean! I'm really looking at getting this beast of a printer before then so I can have my own archival-quality printed goods for sale, too, AND I want to make a themed set of original to display in the art show! Stuff to idly work on 'till then... :'D

I have a small COMMISSION FEELER if anyone is interested to do a test run with me: a deluxe, FULL-BODY, FULL-COLOR BADGE, contour-cut around the character with their name displayed. This will be on brown paper with ink lineart, markers, colored pencil, and various mixed media (gel pens, paint pens, etc, whatever I feel is needed). Coloring quality / visual style will be similar to this, but full-body, probably around 8" in length. G-xxx allowed since I'll be laminating it myself! (although you should probably use sticker censors if you'll be displaying it in public, hurrhurr)

I'm asking $60, and this WILL BE LAMINATED AND SHIPPED TO YOU! I recently amended my TOS to change clause 4d about ownership of traditional media pieces. It used to state that the original commissioner of a piece could buy separately paid-for ownership of a piece to get it mailed to them, on top of the original commission price AND shipping. I realized this was KIND OF SILLY and changed it to offer the original mailed to any commissioner that wants it, as long as they ask ahead of time and pay shipping. :'D

The clause now reads as follows:

[4]d. Originals of commissioned traditional media pieces can be mailed out to the commissioner on request. Shipping costs must be covered by the purchaser, and can be arranged through email. If it is NOT expressly stated by the commissioner that they want the original mailed to them AT THE TIME OF COMMISSIONING or DIRECTLY AFTER, I have the right to sell the original, which may be sold at any time without notifying the original commissioner. If the original is sold, I can't get it back! If you ever change your mind later and want an original mailed to you, however, you're always free to email me to ask if I still have it, and shipping may be arranged.
**Though originals can be mailed, I still retain all commercial ownership to any commissioned image, including digital reproduction & distribution rights.

It was very sequential and all the people and actions involved were very detailed, like... I want to draw all of this, or make it a comic, or SOMETHING. It’s kind of long and strange anyway... but I’m writing it down exactly as I dreamed it, without altering things:

"I" (I was a very distinct character - mid-twenties male, fairly tall and thin, long light blond wavy hair in a ponytail) was visiting a near-future Japan. Where I was wasn't particularly "futuristic" as I was staying in a hotel in an overpopulated rural area. I was there because scientists in Japan had developed a method to temporarily merge your DNA with animal DNA of your choice to change simple cosmetic features, like to give you cat-like facial structure, or bird eyes and feathers instead of hair... It would slightly alter your features by taking a few months to form (which was pretty uncomfortable, but in that sense not unlike other modern body modification methods - tattoos, piercing, etc), then last for about a year, then wear off. It was mostly a fashion trend at that point, no really functional applications, but Japan was the only place you could obtain it.

Later on, I was at some strip-mall-like plaza where this was being distributed in a big trade show, and I was browsing the species options. I took the one to merge with a leopard, wanting a cat-like face and spotted body patterns. As I was leaving I think I was kidnapped - I can't quite remember how I got into this position, but I awoke in an enclosed, dark place, and I had been altered somehow - I was naked and alone, and I knew ((somehow, DREAM LOGIC)) that the leopard DNA had been removed or overwritten. Instead I was very pale and clammy, and when I found my reflection I had horizontally-slit octopus eyes, and my hair had been changed into a dreadlock-esque collection of white octopus tentacles.

I felt sick, realizing that I was still changing, and at a drastic rate. It was a full-body change, very different from the small cosmetic changes I had been seeking, which was believed to be the height of DNA alteration procedures at the time. There were also two small plugs embedded in the sides of my neck, like flattened disks, attached to me subdermally and feeling like they were leeching some chemical into my body.

I took some time to investigate around the space, revealing it to be some kind of laboratory-slash-bedroom, as I had apparently been living there a while, although I was unable to remember anything. Reading some documents revealed that the plugs in my neck were "neurological balance ports", which would have to remain embedded in my skin to continue leeching chemicals into my body to keep my brain stable while I transformed. If they were removed before the transformation was complete, my brain would become rapidly unstable and the imbalance would kill me within minutes.

I began to grow frantic, not because of the non-consensual transformation freaking me out, but because I was hungry - violently hungry, and growing dizzy with some kind of compulsion that I couldn't understand. I threw on some pants and shoes and a ratty-looking dress coat (It wasn't what I was wearing earlier, my previous clothes were gone), tied up my tentacle hair unto a ponytail again to try and mostly hide it, and I left. Nothing stopped me, and nobody was around, so I ran. Maybe I was supposed to leave that easily. It was the middle of the night, and I didn't seem to be in Japan anymore. It was clearly somewhere in America, although I didn't know where. I headed to a large park in the middle of the city where the underground laboratory was hidden and flagged down some type of communal automated street car, which was already occupied by three other men about my age. It was dark, so the three couldn't make out my hair or eyes, but I clearly looked unwell. I tried to choke back my dizzying hunger and frantic mental state to appear normal enough to not appear suspicious, but it wasn't entirely working. I was too callous and short with the three strangers, since I didn't want to deal with them at all, still trying to mentally figure out what to do about my crazed mental state. After some awkward and unwanted conversation between us, the three men started to gang up on me and make fun of my ragged, sickly appearance, mocking me for being on drugs or homeless. One eventually said something like "yeah, he's totally a junkie, he's even still got the syringe in him", and pulled the plug out of the left side of my neck, showing that it was embedded in my skin like a barbed thumbtack.

The sudden chemical imbalance hit me immediately, my head exploding with noise and dizzying sensations, as I yelled at the three, trying to explain what they just did. I seemed to black out, and the next thing I realized, I was gasping for breath and stabbing the plug back into my neck. I was alone, and all that was left of the three men was blood and raw flesh splattered everywhere inside the car. I wasn't hungry anymore, though...

I stayed there for a while after that, trying to collect myself as the car moved along its automated track. It was very late then, and nobody else was in the city park, so I could safely be alone. After a while, I studied myself - I had changed more, my skin having become white and pearlescent with a velvety texture, and slimy all over with some kind of mucous. All of my teeth had become sharp and pointed, my fingers tapered into fierce claws, and I realized I could control and move the tentacles on my head as dexterously as an octopus's arms. Somehow I realized that I could alter the texture and color of my skin as well, the same way an octopus could to blend in with its environment.

After a few more hours alone in the street car, I had figured out how to imitate the appearance of fabric and stone, make myself look like gnarled tree branches or a smooth marble statue, and most importantly - emulate human skin and hair. At this point the sun was close to rising, and I could feel that same mental pang starting again. I knew I had to kill to eat, but I didn't want to make myself as frantic and uncontrollable as I had been. I had to actively hunt so that I could be in control of who had to die.

Still having some kind of moral conviction, I slipped out of the street car and deep into the park as the day began, blending with the environment and spying on people and listening in on conversations, trying to pick out the one person that I could feel was worthy of being murdered...

And then I woke up. D:


ALL IN ALL... maybe pretty cliche, it's basically the age-old vampire/werewolf curse story but as some octobeast instead. I guess the reason it was so compelling when I woke up was because dreams can feel SO real, more so than anything you could ever read or watch... When you wake up, it can be like a recent memory, feeling as close as recalling the day prior.

So, hm. Being a murderous octopus monster was pretty cool.

I'll be selling at Further Confusion and wanted to try making some printed adult comics to sell there! I just wanted some public feedback on what people might want. The comics will also be posted online afterward (maybe only in B&W), but I'll have the high-quality printed-and-bound versions for sale at the con.

My main question is WHAT THEMES WOULD THE PEOPLES LIKE TO SEE? I was thinking of (if I can manage) doing one "vanilla" adult comic (can still be kinky, but with "realistic" kinks involved), and/or one hyper/swelling/etc/whatever's-ridiculous-and-impossible comic. :'D So give me ideas for either or both of those, please! Let me know of any themes you're interested in that you haven't really seen me cover in my galleries, I'm super interested in that, too! Especially since I was thinking of TF, bondage/bdsm, pet play, so on and so on...

And what about character pairings? M/M? M/F? F/F? F/H? Threesomes? It could involve any of my or Overlai's characters, although alternatively I was thinking of creating new character designs specifically for the story or scenario.

The gist of it is this: Furoticon Online is based on the infamous FURRY SEX CARD GAME of the same name, only it's going fully digital! You get your own FULLY CUSTOMIZABLE animated pixel sprite avatar of your species, body type, and gender of choice (of which there will be tons of combinations), plus tons of accessories and pixel art bedroom backdrops. You also have your customized harem of characters that you control, which all get their own sprite models and animations, which you put up against your opponents' harems to see WHO LASTS THE LONGEST. :'D And yep, that'll be fully animated, too - lots of bumpy grindy pixel art fun.

ASIDE from the premise being awesome, though, if things work out, I'm going to be a full-time animator for this project! We're trying to make this as high-quality as possible, and your contributions go directly toward paying me and the other artists and programmers on the team, to give us the ability to work on this FULL TIME until its launch next June (this upcoming Anthrocon!). The contributions so far have already really upped the bar in quality, we have some really slick pixel artists, colorists, and animators on the team. Like, this is going to look awesome. Seriously.

But the work load and goals we have in mind ARE rather large. We're already probably looking at over 500 separately animated and drawn actions, parts, and scenery (not 500 animation frames, 500 separate animated actions). So basically, the more you guys help out, the more feasible this is, and the better we can make it!

SO ABOUT THE RAT BAB: I was told by the previous owner that I adopted them from that both rats were in good health, and they seemed fine when I met them. Once they were taken home, though, one of the two turned out to have pretty frequent sneezes and a red runny nose (IE excessive off-and-on porphyrin), and probably has a respiratory infection. Who knows how long he's had it, since it seems like his previous care wasn't really optimal: excessive sugary/fatty diet, and I think they were even kept on cedar bedding for a while (by looking at older pics provided of them), which is toxic, yikes. :C Pretty lame. He's in fair health right now aside from the sneezing and porphyrin, but I don't want to ignore it and exacerbate things if he needs medication. SO, I REALLY, REALLY APPRECIATE THE HELP. I don't like to dump oh-no-help-me stories into commission pages but I wanted to explain the urgency. U-U

I've been animating in Photoshop (CS5) lately, and I was wondering if there's a way to quickly flip/roll through the layers like animation frames?

I really can't figure it out and it's probably really simple. :U I usually use Plastic Animation Paper for my rough pencil tests, then port it over to photoshop to clean up / color / export gifs. I'm trying to cut out having to port back and forth though, it would make things easier. Specifically, in PAP you can roll back and forth through the layers with the arrow keys... Is there a similar way I can to this in CS5?

To clarify, I don't want to just change what PS layer is active, but what layer is visible AND active... in a very quick keystroke maneuver so I can roll back and forth quickly.

I'M ADOPTING RAT BABIES! I'M TOO EXCITED!!

Look at these little FLUFFS OH MY GOD.

One is a dumbo rex and the other is a black and white hooded (meaning one has curlyish fur and big dumb off-to-the-side ears, and the other has straight white fur with black markings covering the head and back). These will be my first rats, I've never been able to own any other than babysitting friends' rats and such before. 8'D They are gonna be SO SPOILED. I'm not sure if they know/respond to their current names, if they don't, they will be named Marbles and Caligula (I THINK THOSE ARE GREAT NAMES). I will post photos like an annoying pet-obsessive jerk.

If you want to tell me any rat stories / anecdotes / tips I would love them. UuU
