Back from Rainfurrest ugggh wow it was so good. Like. SO good. Highlight of my year maybe good. (idk not like I can remember anything else that happened this year longer than like a month ago). It was great to be there NOT selling for once and just partying and having a fun time! (even though it was financially very irresponsible! Ha HA!)

ANYWAYYYY. It reminded me how much fun the con scene is, and lots of people there convinced me to try to get my butt to Further Confusion! I'm gonna do some number crunching tomorrow to see what I can figure out, but if I can make things work, I'll be sharing a dealer's table with onnanoko! SO we'll see what happens with that, hopefully that'll be a go. :'D

I was thinking of doing a big fancy sketchbook auction! I'm making this journal, though, just to see if anyone would be interested or think this is a good idea at all. ?_?

I'd be auctioning off one 5x8, 40-leaf moleskine sketchbook (I draw on one side per leaf, so 40 pages drawn on max). I was thinking of making it a ladder auction, starting with # of pages filled (10, 20, 30, 40), plus FANCY EXTRAS per chunk (one full-color finished page, full-color cover illustration, etc).

It'd be filled with the kinds of things I fill my own sketchbooks with:
sketchy
things, and
inky
things,
at least half total will be inked. I'll fill as much space per leaf as I can without making things too crowded.
Pages can involve pretty much whatever you want! g-xxx rating, your choice of themes / characters (others' characters can be involved only with respective owners' permission, and some themes I won't do, IE cub, scat, the usual spiel). I'll even do hyper / fetish stuff, which I don't offer that often these days.

SO IF YOU'RE INTERESTED AND PLAN ON BIDDING, or have any input or ideas or experiences with doing this type of thing (I've never done a full sketchbook commission before!), PLEASE SPEAK UP!

Update-y journal since I haven't been around in a while.

I got mantis babies finally! I have four currently at second instar (meaning they've all molted once), they're tiny and light green and voracious hunters. ♥ Hopefully they'll all survive to adulthood. Here's one wandering my hand:


I spent two weeks in Texas to come out to my family as trans, things went generally okay but my parents really don't understand it at all. I've been dealing with a lot of negativity and stress because of that, but at least they didn't outright disown me.

I'm also poor as fuck. I stopped being able to afford gender therapy (and food, without Lai around I'd probably be starving) and for a while it was looking like I wasn't going to be able to go back to school, but now my grandfather might be able to cosign for another student loan, so hopefully that works out... Otherwise I'm petty much sunk.

I've been pretty horribly depressed lately because of gender and family and money stuff, so I haven't been drawing or accomplishing much at all lately. I haven't been taking commissions at all (or donations or the like) since I haven't had the will to work on things and I don't want to owe any more people something when I can't even get out of bed some days. So that's the status on that, sorry. :C

PLS BUY A PONES

I'm looking to make some prints to sell at Everfree and other upcoming cons I'll be selling at, but I've never done prints before. Can anyone suggest some good resources for getting quality prints done? I'm not looking to do anything too huge, mostly things like bookmarks, postcard-size prints, 8 x 10 and/or 11 x 14 prints. I want the print and paper quality to be good, maybe some nice glossy prints, but without being balls-out expensive. I'm iffy on places like Kinkos and Staples because I've heard they can mess things up and produce poor quality prints (or am I wrong?), but I don't have experience with either of those (aside from Kinko's fucking up laminating a bunch of badge commissions I did once wow neat).

Would it be better to order prints online? I don't know what companies would be good for that, so if you could suggest any (especially if you've gotten prints from them before!), I'd appreciate it!

GENDER:
Had my first gender therapy appointment last Wednesday, it was pretty rocky, haha. ;; We're trying to work out how I can come out to my oblivious family half a continent away while mostly avoiding catastrophe. Problem is I still really care about my family and put so much energy into avoiding conflict that it's been really hard. Another appointment this Wednesday, moving along slowly... I really just can't wait to go on T. B| I'm very slight and slender and femininely-built (HOLY HIPS BATMAN) so I pass as male 0% of the time no matter what I do, so I lead a very frustrating existence. I just hope T will do enough for me so I can get to the point where a total stranger can look me in the face and say "sir" and mean it...

TALKING:
I've had a lot of people in the past either tell overlai or I that they've avoided talking to me because they felt like I didn't want to be talked to. 8( This isn't true, so don't feel like that, weh. I'm honestly just very introverted, which doesn't mean I don't want to talk to anyone. I'm just often perfectly content to just keep to myself until someone else wants to spend time talking with me, since I'm just bad at starting idle conversation unless I have something very specific to tell to someone! SO YOU CAN TALK TO ME IT'S OKAY... ;;

MY LIFE RIGHT NOW.

I finally made an appointment with a gender therapist, for next Wednesday evening. This is important because it's the first step in figuring out how to come out to my family and finally go on hormone therapy. While it's not legally required in my state to get a therapist's letter for testosterone prescription (thank god), it does make things a little easier, and it is recommended.

I really just needed to MOVE THE HELL ON, especially while I still have time over the summer to get things started. I'm still anxious as fuck and wish I didn't have to go through all this nightmare just to feel comfortable with myself, but I'm doing what I can.

I'm still kind of in disbelief that I even made the phone call, finally... :|
