Memorial Day weekend
Posted 13 years agoJust wanting to wish all of my friends a happy and safe Memorial Day weekend, whatever you may be doing. :3
Uh yeah
Posted 13 years agoNot sure if I like the newest update for the site or not, having a hard time trying to get somewhere to log out from my Droid. Can't use any of my personal home computers to log off as I have had my internet shut off, and like hell I'm gonna ask a friend to use their computer for a few seconds just to log off from here.
I'm sure the new update looks impressive on a standard PC, but on a smartphone not so much. Grrr!

rest in peace Petey Pete
Posted 13 years agoWas not a very good day yesterday. My in-laws own a bar and grill and we have taken in a calico cat we named "Mama Cali" who hangs out in the beer garden and each time Mama Cali had a litter of kittens they always got raised up around the bar and got used to everyone there and we always found good homes for the kittens once they were weaned off of Mama and at least a couple of months old to be on their own.
Mama's last litter consisted of 5 kitties three males and two females, the girls automatically went with each other to a home, the dark tabby male eventually found a home leaving the two orange tabbies at the bar. The wife affectionately named all five cats after Peter Pan characters the two orange tabbies were named Peter Pan and Captain Hook.
The boys are at least a good six months old or so and Mama just recently had another litter of four little fluff balls. Yesterday afternoon Pete hadn't been around the bar all day and not a lot really since the new kittens were born.
One of the girls that works the noon shift at the bar was getting ready to leave for the day and was sitting in her car texting her fiance when she looked out over her dashboard and saw a cat lying in the street (technically highway that runs thru town) up against the curb in front of the fire hall. She then goes back inside and gets my wife who is then followed by my mother-in-law and I follow behind her and we all reach the edge of the highway and sure enough there's Peter.
Apparently he had gotten hit earlier that morning by somebody coming through town, but later on finding out from a friend of the family whose husband owns the local repair garage from their parts runner that he saw someone in town that morning hit Pete and from the sound of things it was on purpose too. I'm sad to lose one of the cats that's been around the bar for a while and has become part of the bar family, but I'm also pissed off that someone purposely went and ran over our cat! All I can say is "watch the fuck out whoever did that" karma's a bitch and she'll come around and bite you in your ass when the time comes.
Rest in peace Peter Pan, now you can keep Pudly company in cat heaven. Pudly was the very first bar cat who we had to put to sleep last year before Christmas, he was getting very old and was diagnosed with feline leukemia.

Rest in peace Adam "MCA" Yauch
Posted 13 years agoSad news I just found out about, Adam Yauch one of the founding members of the Beastie Boys passed away at the age of 47 due to a battle with cancer. Going to have to crack out my old cassette tapes and my CDs and blast some songs in honor of his memory.

Might be going to MFF this year! (Hopefully, we shall see)
Posted 13 years agoI might be going to MFF this year, provided I start setting some monies back for it. So far both
rikku_lion and
foxlover_h have asked me to go and eventually room with them at the hotel with the possibility of another person as well and in their good hearts rikku even told me they would help out a little with my share of the room since money has been tight on my end.
I told him that they did not need to do that as I want to try and pay for my own way and not seem like I am freeloading off of my friends, because that would make me feel bad.
On an upside if I do go and room with them I know it'll be a blast and an inflatable filled room as all three of us are big time inflatable lovers. Other positive sides of this trip if I do get to go is I will most likely run into some of my other friends I know on here and the possibility of make other new friends while I'm there, maybe look for someone there to possibly draw up a reference sheet/char icon/or maybe even a badge for my fursona since I do not have one yet, I'm gonna pack my swimming trunks cos I'm gonna make use of the hotel pool while I'm there, and plus being in Chicago I could easily drive there since I live in Nebraska!
So here's hoping I get the chance this year to attend my first con! Oh, and I might be able to bring along my sexy tigress Holly so she can have a chance to meet everyone as well for the first time.

Is it just me?
Posted 13 years agoAs the title says, or is it FA? But for the past few weeks now I have been unable to download any artwork or pictures to my smartphone to save them as wallpapers. I knew FA was having lagging issues about 2 or 3 weeks back at certain peak hours of the day, I was just wondering if that has any connection to my problem or is it just that my 3G network is a piece of crap?
Anyone have any thoughts or ideas on this issue, or do you think I should bring this problem up to one of the site owners/moderators?

Posted 13 years agoYay another year older and another year wiser as they say I do believe. Don't really have much planned for today except for work later on, but I'm going to spend some time with my family on Saturday to celebrate my birthday.
Maybe I can squeeze in a birthday riding session on my sexy inflatable tigress before I go into work?

*PLEASE READ* Needs help! Can anyone recommend stuff?
Posted 14 years agoI was just wondering if anybody could recommend some good beginner art and drawing books for furry art? I already own a "How To" book but it primarily deals with drawing up non-anthro beings such as humans.
I was wondering if there were any "How To" books out there that primarily focus on anthropomorphic art techniques as I am trying my hand at furry artwork as a New Year's resolution.
Does anyone have an idea where I would or might be able to buy such books? Any help would be most welcome and appreciated!

Saying goodbye to my grandma today
Posted 14 years agoSaying goodbye to a very wonderful lady I shared nearly 36 years of my life with, my grandma. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends, we will miss her smiles, her heart full of love and her silent strength that was the foundation of our family.
She's resting in peace now with grandpa and no longer suffering or in pain. Grandpa has been waiting a long time and now they are both together in heaven and in Jesus's company. Rest in peace grandpa and grandma Dunn, we love you and miss you both very much.
A special shout out and thanks to my friends on here who kept me in their thoughts and prayers, and a special big thank you to
rikku_lion for being there for me as well when I needed someone to talk to.

I love you so much grandma and we are going to miss you a whole lot, now you can rest in peace with grandpa. Love you both.

hectic night: update
Posted 14 years agoMy grandma is still in the hospital after having her stroke even though her right side is paralyzed she is still able to recognize people and offer a smile when she sees them.
Yesterday she was able to eat a little but of applesauce which is a good sign, the nurses also tried an ice cube which my grandmother refused to put in her mouth and pushed it away from her as she didn't care for the cold.
The pastor from her church came in to visit her later in the afternoon yesterday and from what it sounded like from a couple of my aunts who were in the room at the time my grandma gave him a big smile and at one point during his visit he asked "Evelyn I bet you're getting tired of all these doctors coming in and checking up on you all the time?" and without missing a beat she softly replied back with an "uh-huh" which was also a great thing to witness as those were her first words she's said since going into the hospital on Thursday.
Only downside of these small little blessings is that after her CAT scan the neurologist has told us that her paralysis may be a permanent factor the rest of her life.
Anyway this is just a quick little update for now.

what a hectic night
Posted 14 years agoTonight has been hectic to say the least. Earlier this evening while filling in some time at my in-laws bar my mother-in-law comes into the kitchen and tells me that my wife wants me to call my dad immediately, hearing the word immediately is something you don't want to hear often.
I've got things going through my head that something bad has happened to my mom or my sister, brother-in-law or my nephew or niece. I call my dad back and find out that my grandma has went into the hospital earlier in the day.
She ended up having a massive stroke on her left side leaving her right side mostly paralyzed and unable to speak but she's still able look around and hear people and when she does recognize someone she's always got a smile.
But it's so heartbreaking to see her lying there hooked up to all the things keeping her going and pain free, I was able to go down to the hospital and see her tonight with some of my other family members. Later on after my parents got to the hospital my dad and a few of my aunts and uncles talked to one of the nurses on duty tonight about possibly signing DNR papers should things get worse, which really broke my heart and to top that off hearing from my dad that one of my other uncles who lives in Florida might have early stages of Alzheimer's and that his cancer has come back again.
This is not a good way to begin the new year. :(

A couple post-New Years resolutions
Posted 14 years agoI am not one who makes new years resolutions at all because I know I would never stick to them but I decided to take a crack at a couple after the new year has started, so here's a small list of resolutions I am going to try and take up.
1. Going to take better care of myself: I'm going to cut down on eating out at fast-food places this year and try and eat a bit healthier this year. So far I've also cut back on drinking soda when I do eat (I'm a Dr. Pepper junkie) and started to drink more water and when I can I have started drinking more juices. I have started to lose a little bit of weight cutting back on fast-food and soda and drinking more water. I am also going to try and hit the gym again and try and burn off the rest of my gut and tone myself up again.
2. Quit procrastinating: I guess this could vie for first place too. One of my weaknesses besides Dr. Pepper is procrastinating, I am definitely going to work on this bad habit of mine and learn to jump on something right off from the start and not two or three days later.
3. Try and improve my art skills: In the past I doodled for fun but my work is mediocre at best. This year I would really like to start getting more into drawing and really start improving on different techniques such as better line art, shading, color composition etc. So in addition to my writing I want to learn how to develop better drawing skills and hopefully within a few years I can have some decent artwork to share on here.
So there you have it my post-New Years resolutions, wish me luck and hope I succeed in at least one of these categories.

Starting off with a *squeaky* New Year
Posted 14 years agoEven though I plan to spend some time tonight with friends for New Years I've decided to kickoff the early part of my pre-New Years celebration evening by spending it with a few of my special "squeaky" friends for a while.
Yes I'm starting my partying tonight with some of my inflatable animal friends for a bit of riding, a bit of play, and good old fashion fun maybe even squeeze in a round or two of Battlefield 3 while I lounge on my sexy tigress and have a couple other toys around. But if I'm still in a "party" mood I don't think I will be able to get through even a level of the game.
Anyway just want to wish you all a happy and safe New Year, and hope to see you all in 2012!

Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows
Posted 14 years agoJust got back from watching the new Sherlock Holmes movie. Very good movie in my opinion, I thought it surpassed the first movie. Robert Downey Jr. has really made a good comeback from his substance abuse and rehab days and back into acting again.
Hmm some people should take note from him.
Hey Lohan you listening? LOL

Christmas Update
Posted 14 years agoWell I'm slowly getting into the spirit of the season, having our Christmas get together on my dad's side of the family today and I'm at least happy to get to see two of my cousins today that did not make it back for Thanksgiving so there's a big plus there, that and it's not snowing!
Yeah I'm not much of a fan of snow I could care less for a white Christmas I just want to see my family today, spend time with them, eat lots of goodies and just try and have a good time today despite all that has happened in the past six months or so for me.
Also just want to wish everyone else on here a Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, Happy Holidays, and a Happy New Year. I hope things turn around and pick back up for me in 2012.

I officially hate Christmas
Posted 14 years agoYeah I said it. Most people are rather cheerful and happy around this time of year but at the rate my year has gone, the stress I'm going through and the news I received last night did not help much after that.
Christmas has usually been kind of rough for me as 26 years ago my grandfather passed away a few days before Christmas and Christmas on my dad's side of the family is kind of a big thing, so feeling upset and missing my grandpa, being unemployed during Christmas, not having the funds to buy much in the way of presents for my family this year, plus hearing some news from a person very close to me and dear in my heart and what they had to tell me was the final nail in my Christmas coffin.
Christmas has been and will be from this day forward officially dead to me.

Not in the holiday spirit
Posted 14 years agoThe subject header pretty much sums it up for me. I am not in the Christmas Yule Tide spirit this year. Being unemployed this time of year sucks and it's depressing as I won't be able to buy much this year for my family, especially for my nephew and niece this year but my nephew will understand more since he's 17 now, my niece is only 4 so I feel especially bad about that.
I checked back with the place I put my new app into, but they told me they're not hiring until after the holiday season, typical (don't they always tell people that)?
So this Christmas is going to suck ass this year. Everyone says you can always get a new start in the new year, I'm just hoping 2012 will prove to be a better year for me than this year if not I'm in for a world of hurt. I just wish my luck would change around for me, for the better because there is so much I want to do in the coming new year but being unemployed and financially strapped is putting a damper on things I would like to do.
Oh well, everyone else try to have a good Christmas I will try to get into the mood for it even though I've got things to take care of afterwards, and dwelling on those thoughts doesn't help my spirits that much.

here's hoping. (keeping positive)
Posted 14 years agoWell I turned in a new application for employment yesterday, so I'm trying to stay positive on the deal and looking forward to getting a call back for an interview. Wish me luck everyone!
