Viewer discretion advised.
The world is an interesting place to be in right now. Between the possible meltdown in Japan and the bloody uprisings in the east.
You people should read this, In the land of the brother leader. It paints a picture of how living under the rule of Gadaffi was, a sort of African North Korea.
Luckily for the resistance a no-fly zone has been declared over Libya. It'll prevent Gadaffi from bombing the cities.

General | Posted 15 years agoWakfu Season 2 - It's finally here!
General | Posted 15 years agoWhen I say Wakfu, perhaps with a few of you a little light will show up. Perhaps the MMO? Dofus? And maybe, just maybe, some of you are familiar with one of the best animated shows I've ever seen.
For those that are unfamiliar with Wakfu, it's a French animated show made by Ankama Studios. There's also a MMO in the making with a similar name (currently in closed beta), as well as a already released MMO called Dofus. A Live Arcade game called Islands of Wakfu is also in the making.
I first came into contact with Wakfu a few months ago, when I was searching for animations on Youtube. I soon found out that the French are by far the best animators I've ever seen. Things like Baidir or Apérs la plui (After the rain) really opened my eyes to a whole new form of animation.
That was when I came across the following clip
https://youtu.be/H2JrWJfdoqk
I dare you to find a clip that breaths more atmosphere than that. Interesting fact, that was all done in ADOBE FLASH! It's mind boggling.
I got sucked into that show unlike any show I've ever seen. The characters were fun and lively, the world beautifully created and everything felt so real. So many different races and classes to figure out. From the simple Iop to the mysterious Xelors. And I take no shame in saying I shed a tear at the ending of the first season.
And now, finally, after weeks of waiting, Season 2 has arrived! And you can watch the first episode online! Too bad I dont understand French though

General | Posted 15 years agoA peak into my mind pt.1, Skull Kid
General | Posted 15 years agoI've seen
Strype do these mindbabies of his, where he jots down ideas he's been having over the years and it got me inspired. Despite not being really active in the way of consistent characters, I do enjoy creating such characters. Characters with a history, side characters that feel fun to me and a world that could actually work. So over the following week, I'll be giving you people some insights on what has been running through my head the last few years.
Starting with my Skull Kid idea. I guess it would work better if I explained the world it would take place in first. The idea for the Skull Kid world was for it to be kinda like the Bronx. A low income area, where most kids didnt have that much. If you can get the world of Hey! Arnold on your mind, then thats pretty close to it.
I wanted the kids to have the most prominent role in this story, making them behave like some criminal underworld. Think something along the lines of mob bosses (richer kids) who control the playgrounds/arcade halls/toy stores/etc. Any place a kid enjoys spending time. They'd send out bullies to enforce these places, and get 'protection money' from the owners.
Then there are the counterfeits, by whom you can buy homework assignments. The higher the price, the better the grade, and the lower your chances of getting caught.
My most favorite of all the 'criminals' has to be Anton, the information broker. I may like him even more than the actual protagonist. You see, Anton should've left the school years ago, but despite his excellent grades (after a while he knew all the tests like the back of his hand) he has been kept back. Some say it's because he has dirt on the principal and he wants to be kept back. And that is what Anton deals in, dirt. He has something incriminating on everybody in the school. And the way he uses this information, is by allowing the 'victim' to pay for a protection fee. This fee will be the amount of money someone else has to pay in order to be able to get this information. This information can range from the relatively harmless stuff (caught picking your nose), to the more serious stuff (caught cheating on a test). Anton is a nice guy, for as long as you have the money, and he has something juicy on you.
Which finally brings me to the main character in this all. The Skull Kid. A kid that suddenly showed up, always wearing a skull mask and a black hoodie and fights for the right of the lesser kids (think geeks, the glee club, you know the bunch). Of course this doesnt sit well with the richer kids, who see a decline in their income, but they're unable to catch him.
This also infuriates Anton, since he doesnt like to not know a person. He wants to be in control. But unlike the mob bosses, the employs a different method of catching Skull Kid. Because he can also see the potential in such a person, an anonymous person able to move through the city like the wind. He'd be excellent to gather dirt on people. So the idea for the story was for him to slowly gain the trust of Skull Kid, and at the same time trying to unravel who's behind the mask.
A secondary character would've been Lisbeth Taylor, or Liz as she wants to be called, dont ever call her Lizzy or Lisbeth unless you like to be decked. Daughter of a rich ex-actress (who presumably is evil) and a father who is thought to have been murdered by her mother (see, evil).
Unlike her mother, she has nothing feminine about her, being a real tomboy. She would be one of the few that will build up a real connection with Skull Kid. Also holding some sort of big secret, a secret Anton knows, who then uses this to keep Skull Kid in check ("Do this for me, and perhaps I will give you a few clues"). She will also provide shelter for Skull Kid, after she would find him living under a bridge one day. There would be a big abandoned bird house on the roof of her building he can use. This gave me the idea for a few star gazing one-shots.
It's a shame I forgot many stuff about it over time, this being quite an old idea. Although just writing about it makes me want to pick it up again.
Perhaps one day...
Anyway, tune in next time for another idea, J&J
