It's been a while! "So what have you been doing," you may ask? Long story short:

-I started a new job halfway across the country in January (it's all right).

-I have largely been focusing on my own progress as a professional illustrator.

-I got knocked on my ass by a major health issue while recovering from another major health issue that carried over from last year, both from which I am still recovering and have had to adjust to my life being majorly disrupted in a number of ways.

It is unlikely that I will be actively posting here apart from posting the occasional FBA and anthro art/relevant announcements, and it is even less likely that I will be actively taking commissions at any point. Aside from learning the hard way last year that overworking myself is not the way to go, I'm taking this year to buckle down and improve as an artist and will continue to focus on that. Basically, I'd just like to do what I want for a while, haha.

That being said, if you'd still like to see my art in some capacity, I am much more active on Tumblr.

I'm moving to Texas to start a new job next month. I'm definitely not looking forward to the 1,000+ mile drive (BARRRF), but I welcome what I feel is a much-needed change. It's been a terrible year for me in many ways and I'm looking forward to being able to start fresh and build myself back up in the new year.

Hi, party people! I'm sorry I haven't been as active as I normally would be these past few months. Apart from the stress of apartment hunting/trying to find full-time work, I've been struggling with an ongoing bout of depression since before the new year and have really only been able to work in bursts during the times I feel like a functional human being, which hasn't been often, but I'm hoping will improve once the stress of moving house is behind me.

Speaking of which, I finally got the apartment sorted out and will finally begin my move later today, so I probably won't have much in the way of internet access this week as I still have to deal with the Big Satan aka Time Warner Cable (who was literally the only service that gave me a stink about getting things set up in the new place, when everything else took all of a few clicks 9_9). I hope I'm still in the area when Google Fiber arrives, ha ha.

On commissions, I'm slowly but surely getting through the last handful in my queue. My apologies to the people still waiting on me, but I thank you for your patience. I'm not taking on new work right now, but once I'm all caught up, I will post my revised chart and likely begin taking on a couple of commissions at a time. I hope to be able to try out hourly commissions as well, but more on that later.

On PoL, I'd just like to say that I'm thrilled to see an influx of new readers, a return of old readers, and most surprisingly a pretty significant jump in Twitter/Tumblr followers over the past few weeks! It's been a humbling experience to see the different people that enjoy my comic and wish to help support it, and corny as it may sound, it makes me want to be a better person for the readers. It's always a disappointment when the work of an artist one enjoys is marred if they have an awful personality. I haven't always been good about this, but this go-around I really want to do my best to keep PoL a positive experience for everyone. Just as a reminder, the PoL preview image/alt page for this week may come late, but patrons will be able to view the page Sunday, and the usual Wednesday update will be on the main site as scheduled.

Hey, PoLsters! Thanks to the hard work of my homiest homey,  chella, the Pride of Life website is back with a fresh and clean new look! Not only that, but we’ve implemented some features that will make your reading life easier, as well as some reminders of ones you may have missed.

New Features:

-You can now browse pages using the arrow keys! Your days of clicking are over!

-For non-US readers that can’t access the site, all current PoL episodes and future updates are available on my Weasyl account (individual folders are listed to the left).

-Following PoL on Twitter? You’ll get an auto-update when a new page is posted, so no worries about forgetting to pop in on Wednesdays.

-The Ask the Cast comics now have their own archive on the site, for when you need a breather from the main story. Just mouse over the Archive button and it’ll present itself properly.

As you might already know, I’m trying to make PoL into a full-time deal, and any little leg-up I can get would help. There’s still a ways to go yet, but if you’d care to lend a hand in some way, here are a few ways you can contribute!

How you can help support PoL:

-Spread the word! Have a friend with similar tastes in comics? Why not introduce them? Ideally, I’d like for PoL to be a fun and inclusive experience for all its readers, so the more the merrier!

-If you use an ad blocker, please consider adding prideoflife.com to your whitelist.Half the site’s ad revenue is dependent upon views, so allowing ads to display during your visit would be appreciated. And I suppose while I have you here, I got a request to publish the results of the readership survey I rolled out a few weeks ago, so without further ado, the results!

Of 171 participants:
-133 (78%) identified as male/men
-32 (19%) identified as female/women
-4 (2%) identified as neither
-2 (1%) identified as 'other'

And in the listed age groups:
-129 (75%) were between 18-30 years of age.
-33 (19%) were between 31-49.
-6 (4%) were between 13-17.
-3 (2%) were 50+ years of age.
-There were no readers less than 12 years of age.

The results were not at all surprising, though I thought female readership would be a bit higher (around 25%). I am glad that there were no readers less than 12 years of age, as PoL is a bit too intense for young readers at times. I was pleasantly surprised to see a sprinkling of 50-plusers in the audience, too! PoL's demographic isn't broad by any means, but I'm happy to see that it's something readers across age ranges can enjoy.


tl;dr - New site layout, arrow keys to nav, please whitelist prideoflife.com on your ad blocker, tell your friends about us, consider Patreon patronage/donating, hitting the 18-30 year-old male demographic pretty hard.
