Posted 12 years agoI'm Officially a Home Owner!
Posted 14 years agoI bought myself my first house!
Well technically I bought on the 20th of this month, a few days ago.
I found myself a nice 1,200 sq foot townhouse in a quiet, pleasant neighborhood.
The house is in physically good shape, though it needed some cosmetic work.
I am basically ending up doing a remodel of the house. New carpet, new tile, new paint, new bathtub, new toilets, ran some network cable myself, new lights in the kitchen, new doorknobs, hmm, and I'm sure other stuff I'm forgetting!
I've basically been running around like crazy for the couple weeks before the house closed, and the several days since, just trying to get everything prepared, lined up, purchased, scheduled, cleaned, and generally set to go. Now I'm mostly trying to keep my contractors on schedule and on task so it can all be done to move in by the 4th!
I will have pictures to post in my journal after the house is done. The "Before" pictures of the inside aren't much to show, but I will if anyone cares to see!

Older, and stuff
Posted 15 years agoWell, turned older yet again! I turned 26 on the 1st, actually, so this is a bit late.
I just didn't really feel like I cared whether or not I told anyone this year (I never even really asked for anything for Christmas or Birthday from anyone this year; they had to just guess really).
I've been feeling a bit odd lately. On the one hand, I adore my friends a lot and always want to see them whenever I can.
But at the same time, I don't even really care when I come home anymore; a bit like I'm tired of what I do at home. And when I am at home, I kinda go into my shell in a lot of ways.
I never was a very good one for finding lots of motivation in things. I got my job because of the fact that all I've ever really known much about has been computers; never because it was what really got me excited or anything.
So this is probably just another part of it. Then again, I don't know for sure.
So yeah, anyways, I am 26 now.
And to my good friends, if I seem quieter these days, it's not because of you!

10 Day Meme - Day 10
Posted 15 years agoINSANELY late I know, but I couldn't think of a good confession. Plus, I'm lazy!
But oh well, here we go!
1. The one regret I have in my adult life, is ever letting go of what I had with someone; of not realizing what I had, and that it was ok to just take it easy and let myself enjoy it.

Day Ten: One confession
I am gonna try and keep my list to things besides what everyone would already know is a turn on for me :3
1. When the pred is a sweet, naive, lovable guy, but he is still very hungry and predatory (In other words, the guy's a sweety, but his belly's most definitely not :3)
2. Tufts of fur in choice places on a furry guy's body
3. Tattoos or types of clothing that are suggestive and/or enticing of the groin or rump (Vague, but it's hard to describe :P)

4. Cruelty or scat to an extreme degree
I cheated in my list by making a couple doubles. But this is actually a pretty complete list of my turn-offs. I tolerate virtually anything else.
Oh, and to those who know me, yes, boobs are on the list! They are like, 5 or 6. I can ignore them, unless they're hyper :P

Pretty Sick
Posted 15 years agoI'm actually pretty sick today. I was technically sick yesterday, but didn't realize it until last night after I was done visiting my mom.
She gave me a hug and said "Oh, you're warm!". We took my temp, and it came back 102.4.
I had felt pretty crummy off and on that day, but I didn't realize I was sick. It's just been so long since I had a disease that I'd forgotten what it felt like.
So I came home and went right to bed. Though I didn't really get any sleep, just as I didn't the night before.
I woke up, and took my temp again to see it said 101.5. So I called in sick from work, and spent most of the day just laying in bed trying to get as much rest as I could. Since I was very exhausted with a terrible headache from not sleeping the past two nights.
I am feeling better now, not well yet, but better. My headache's mostly gone.
The only notable thing left is the lymph nodes in my neck keep hurting off and on. They've been doing it since yesterday. I don't think it's anything I should be that worried about, but I guess it's a mark of how sick I got.
So right now, I'm just kind of hanging out since I can't really make myself lay in bed anymore. Just can't make myself try to get anymore rest for right now.
With luck, come tomorrow I will be all better!

Anyone Need a Room at AC?
Posted 15 years agoHi Everyone!
It seems that my roommate Unny and I have space for at most 2 extra people in our room at AC. We're staying at the main hotel.
If anyone is in need of a place to stay, please just reply to this journal or note me, and we can see about having you stay in our room with us.
Unny's earlier roommates bailed on us, and we are hoping to decrease the hotel bill a little bit for the duration of the con.

Found Dog's Owner
Posted 15 years agoWell I found the dog's owner.
Apparantly she lives on the other side of the same apartment building, and she herself found him wandering around a couple or so weeks ago.
So I gave him back, since he seems a lot happier with her. Though from talking with her it sounds like she and I both have the same kind of ambivalent feelings about either of us keeping him for good.
He's a sweet dog, but he is pretty fearful and, well, it was more than a little bit of work taking him back and forth with me to work.
She's gonna help refund me at least part (we'll see how much) of what I paid for his food and stuff, just to make it less of an overall loss on everything.
We'll also keep in touch, and see where things go.
I do miss him a bit, but, for the most part I am glad to not have to worry about him anymore.
Was an interesting experience, a bit of a chance to remind myself of what it takes to have a dog around! If I do get myself one, I will definitely be waiting until I get my house; since this apartment isn't the best for having a pet.

Adopted A Dog!
Posted 15 years agoI adopted myself a dog!
I found him wandering around outside when I was heading out to get some exercise. He was wandering around in front of the front step of my apartment when I came down. He started to follow me, and followed me about halfway down to the apartment office, before he started to wander off on his own.
So, I decided to follow him. To see where he would decide to go, to see if he'd eventually head back home.
After seeing it was clear he was just wandering aimlessly, I eventually managed to pick him up.
According to a neighbor I'd passed while picking him up, the dog's been wandering around for a couple of days.
He just let me carry him, and seemed to relax in my arms. I carried him back to the apartment, and after learning how animal control would handle him if they got him (they'd try to find the owners, then put him up for adoption to whoever wanted him; no first picks for the person who found him). Well, after learning that, I at first planned to put out fliers to find his rightful owner.
But after I went out last night to get a couple things to tide him over, and ended up getting enough to make him my own pet, I decided to just keep him and see how things turned out with having him around.
So far, he seems very friendly and sweet, just pretty skittish. Though after he had a good night's sleep with me, he seems more relaxed and at home.
It will still be a while more at least I think. Maybe he'll never grow the kind of backbone I'm used to seeing in my dogs, but he's very quiet and affectionate. (It almost seems like he's become a part of my lap! Every time I sit down, he makes it clear he wants to hop up to join me).
Here's a couple pics I took of him last night. I decided to name him Ash, since he's kind of an ashy color, and, well, I just always kinda liked that name!

Political Rant
Posted 15 years agoThis is my political rant. I don't normally do this, but, I just had to vent my spleen about politics of late.
Please don't read this and attack me for my views. I don't say this to hurt, just to basically upchuck my political beliefs into words.
Oh, and alcohol did have a little bit to play in my decision to do a political rant.
Political Rant Found Below. Beware and know that I don't say anything to be mean to you personally.
I have never seen so much anger and hate as I have the last year. I cannot believe just how bitterly angry so many people have become since Obama took office.
I never liked Bush as president. I very quickly started to sour on him when he took office, and it only got worse until I outright hated him when he left. I could never understand why it seemed so few others didn't hate him.
But my god, it's incredible to me just how much it seems everyone who even kind of leans to the Right HATES Obama! It's barely been a year into his presidency, and there is sooo much hate and anger and fear because of him. Bush never even got a portion of this in his whole 8 years.
I am still relatively new to the political game, I only really started to pay attention when Bush first took power. I have vague memories that the Right seemed to hate Clinton too.
But wow, it just cannot always be like this. I will admit, I am a very proud Liberal, with Liberal beliefs. Though I also believe in fiscal responsibility and in not running up a huge amount of debt that must inevitably bankrupt our country if it goes on too long.
I must say though, I keep finding myself pushed back to supporting Obama. If only because of how much anger and hatred I keep hearing from the Right. Bush and the Right did a horrible job when they were in power not very long ago, and I am not hearing anything more than their whining complains and more Bad Ideas now.
I was discouraged because of how Americans voted Bush back into office after the debacle of his first term in office. I am even MORE discouraged now because of how Americans are now believing the Right and starting to turn against Obama.
I am starting to come to the belief, that America can just go fuck itself. That they can pick their own poison and do themselves in with it. They won't ever realize they took that poison, they won't ever believe they did wrong; because they are fools. Because they believe the poisonous words of those who would legislate giving all the money to the Rich; under the false promises that it will, somehow, magically, miraculously, trickle down to make the wee little man a wee bit richer (and people buy this shit too! When all recent history has been evidence to the contrary. Look at Wal-Mart for pete's sake!).
I am of the Left. I don't care about your religion. I don't give a crap if you own a gun; so long as it is not a gun that is a bad idea for anyone to own (machine pistols and automatic rifles are NOT for hunting animals!). I don't give a damn if you manage to get yourself rich.
I DO give a damn if you try to make yourself more wealthy at the expense of everyone else (I'm looking at you, Too Big To Fail Banks). I DO give a damn if you try to use your religious beliefs to mandate how the rest of us live our lives (I'm looking at you, Focus On The Family). I DO give a damn if you make up reasons about why we should invade other countries and then have the gall to pretend that you never knew otherwise (I'm looking at you Cheney and Bush). I DO give a damn when all you do is say "no" and whine and bitch and lie and then have the gall to say that the Left doesn't know how to govern (though I'm starting to wonder if they have the will or courage to really govern as they should now that they can).
Politics, and especially the Right, are starting to sicken me more than I can ever really put into words. I am not a hateful person by nature, I never have been. But wow, I am starting to HAAAATE the Right, and hate the American people who would be their willing Lackeys.
That is my two-cents on politics, even if it wasn't really asked for.

Birthday Treat Mixed with Bad Day
Posted 16 years agoIt's been something of an up and down day, though right now it's definitely more on the 'up' side of things.
I got up early to go skiing, and after stopping at McD's for breakfast (as is tradition), I realized that I had forgotten my skipants! Being that it was some 90 miles and an hour to get to where I was, going back wasn't a very good option. And long-johns were waaay overpriced, so, me being me, I decided to try skiing with only jeans on (I'd seen some other people do it before, and I was always very cozy in just my windscreen skipants, so I figured it wouldn't be a big deal).
Two hours of suffering agonizing cold later, I decided to cut my losses and end my suffering. I stopped by the guest services hut, and they very graciously let me exchange my lift ticket for a new one so I could come back later instead (yay for free skiing sometime in the next couple months!).
After all that time trying to bear with the painful cold, I was pretty tired, lacking energy, and just bleh. I drove home, which gave me time to warm up and relax a bit, and surprised my roommate :
unknownwolf: by not only coming home early, but asking him to come down and unlock the door for me after I accidentally left them in my apartment during my first trip unloading the car.
I spent some time watching him start to prepare an early dinner, a roasted chicken with vegies. Almost 3 hours later, having not had anything else to eat yet today, I was STARVING, so it was very nice when we took out the chicken and found it to be perfectly done.
After devouring a fair bit of chicken to fill that hole in me, Unny surprised me with a birthday cake and candles. First actual birthday cake I've had in years.
It was a very very pleasant surprise to find out that it was my birthday dinner from him, and that he had gotten me a cake.
Plus, there's a night of relaxing fun to look forward to in a couple of hours, so that will only make things all the more fun and nice I think.
All things considered, I would call this a pretty good, if interesting day!

25 in a couple weeks
Posted 16 years agoI turn 25 in a couple weeks, on the first. I am not sure if I feel good or bad about it. The last couple birthdays weren't really much fun, mostly because everyone was off taking care of this or that for family reasons.
Though people will be around this time, I just have no idea what to do for it!
Maybe I can sleep through it?
