Seriously, Watch This Show.
Posted 16 years agoIt's called Castle. It's on ABC, and it's fantastic. Nathan Fillion (Captain Reynolds from Firefly) plays a mystery novelist who is brought in to help the NYPD solve crimes and gets partnered up with a detective he kinda hits on during the course of the show. It's basically Nathan Fillion as Captain Reynolds if Reynolds was a mystery novelist. I highly recommend it to everyone out there.
Also, my new compy is completely up and running, just working on getting all my programs and such onto it. Maybe I'll finally do all the homework I've been meaning to do now that its done, lol.

Occum's Razor
Posted 16 years agoSo while I was at work this morning, a thought ran through my head. Since my CPU is overheating and shutting off the system, I had to wonder why I hadn't psychically looked at the CPU fan to make sure it was working properly on the outside. Sure enough, as I remove the fan, I see that the plastic cover that was on the bottom of the fan when it shipped was still on the fan/heatsink, thereby putting a layer of insulation between the fan and the CPU. I take it off, throw it back in, and sure enough, the CPU stayed at a constant 62.5 Fahrenheit in the BIOS.
I still have to RMA a part though. As I suspected from earlier noises, the hard drive is bad and I need to get it replaced before I can do anything with the system. But the hard drive being bad really doesn't worry me too much.
Also, Watchmen comes out today, and I will be sure to go see it tonight to drool over it.

So I Got This New Computer
Posted 16 years agoAnd I put it together. When I go to boot it up, BLAM! It decides that it doesn't want to stay on for more than 3 minutes. Wont even finish loading up the windows installer. Looks like it might be either a CPU overheating issue, and we also checked, and the CPU I have isn't supported by the motherboard, so I'm gonna have to send it back to get a new mobo x.x.
Why can't shit just work? All the time and without hassle?
On a side note, I've been reading Watchmen, and its epic beyond all reason. *Is so excited for the movie*

Back From the Break
Posted 16 years agoI'm doin a lot better now, ready to get back and talk to people, and get everything I need to do done. Anyways, I want to start off by asking a question...Why is the Southeast portion of the Salt Lake Valley terrifying? I had to go down there to go to a dentist appointment (and the dentist was fantastic), but that part of town was deceptively nice. I went into a nearby Reams to pick up some bread, and the people in there...*shudders*
Anyways, that's my inquiry.

Posted 16 years ago"I'm not givin' up, I'm just burnin' out.
I've gotten to a point over the last couple of months where I just need a break or something. I'm burnt out of furry and the fandom, I'm burnt out of socializing, I'm burnt out on school, work, and various aspects of my personal life, and hell, even playing computer games has lost a lot of its luster. That's why I'm backing out for a while to relax, maybe find some more hobbies, and recouperate so I can come back fully energized and enthused about all the stuff mentioned above. Bout the only furry thing I will still be doing is my fursuit, which is actually almost done at this point. Anyways, good luck and happy trails you all, and see you on the other side.

Awesome Weekend ^.^
Posted 17 years agoSo for the weekend, I had someone very special to me come down to the Salt Lake Valley. We first met at AFF back in April as roommates for the con and got along very well. We kind of kept in contact for a while after that, but didn't really see each other again until Rainfurrst, where I got to spend a lot more time with him again. Though I was freaking out really badly due to something that happened at the con, he stayed by my side and helped me get through most of what had happened so that I wasn't a wreck the entire con. We spent a lot of the rest of the con just bs-ing around, and had an all around good time.
Well, I just wanted to say that for a long time I have kind of had my eye on him, and in November we both decided to try a relationship out, regardless of the long distance. Well, I can happily say that I love him, and I wish nothing but good times and happiness for my Dradger,
unevenedge .
Anyways, he came down for the weekend and we spent some more time together, and I got to show him around the valley, and he got to go to a local furmeet, in which we all saw Bolt afterwards. It really is as good as everyone says it it ^.^ .
I had such a great time, and I cannot wait until I can see him again. I was really sad to see him go, but I knwo Ill get to see him again soon :)

Ok, Something Serious For Once
Posted 17 years agoNormally my journals are reserved for just little updates on my life and such, art status, and things like that. Today, however, I wanted to make a small public service announcement. since 2000, when I first started following political elections, I've noticed something. The voter turnout for the overall United States is extremely low. This fact actually disappoints me deeply. Here we have one of the most hands on, people run the country governmental systems in the world, and barely anyone takes advantage of this. Does anyone realize that by taking one fucking hour out of their year to go punch some buttons has the chance of drastically altering how the next one, two, four, hell, even six years get shaped? Seriously, your future really is in your hands. You run our government. Sure, we elect officials to represent certain masses of people, but that's just it. They are representing a mass that you are a part of.
Another thing that irritates me is that in order to secure the right to govern ourselves as a democracy, blood was shed. People often seem to forget that countless people died during the American Revolution to ensure that future generations would have the benefit of being part of a government that the people ruled. It doesn't matter that it happened almost two and a half centuries ago, the lives of those people still matter. It breaks my heart to see people thumb their noses at our forefathers by trying to catch just one more episode of that new sitcom that is airing, or whine "But the line is too long *sigh*." Those people gave their country a gift beyond compare, so the least we can do is make sure they didn't die in vain.
All in all my message is simple. I am not trying to tell you who to vote for. I am not trying to tell you what to vote for (although a "no" on Prop. 8 would be nice). I am simply telling you to vote. Vote for Obama if you feel like it. Vote for McCain if you think he will run the country better. Vote Green Party, or Libertarian. Hell, you can even support the Zenu/Cruise twosome if you truly think they could be the best candidates for our country. Just please, I urge you, take a small amount of time out of your day to go and have a say in how you want your future to be formed. If for nothing else, then vote to pay respects for the forefathers who secured our right to govern ourselves for us and future generations.

Funny Story
Posted 17 years agoSo I was heading down a highway on my way home tonight and I got t-boned in the middle of the intersection by a guy running a red light at 30 or 40 miles an hour, causing me to spin out and hit anther guy in the left turn lane. Everyone was fine, and the guy who hit me was at fault for all 3 cars, so it all worked out. Other than the small inconvenience of not having a car for a few days, I actually find the whole thing a bit humorous... At least "Behind Blue Eyes" shall be forever burned into my mind as the accident song, lol.
But yeah, a bit of comic relief for me, considering other things that have been goin on as of late for me. Anyways, I'll have photos up in the morning of my car.
Seems like I go through these things, don't I? :P

Hehe, Thanks Everyone
Posted 17 years agoJust wanted to thank everyone who replied to my last journal. You guys helped me out a ton. I'm gonna start doing a lot more stuff with this gallery, hopefully, and get more stuff done in general. Anyways, you guys are rocktastic, and I hope you all have a great, um...awesometimes, hehe.
Also, I've set up a secondary account so i can have a place to put some more *ahem* mature artworks. The profile is
vodkoon , if anyone cares to take a gander. Only one piece up atm, but working on something right now (yes, drawn and halfay colored, hehe) to put up in the next couple of days.
Anyways, you guys are super awesome, and I hope to continue knowing ya all ^.^

I Have a Question
Posted 17 years agoOk, so here's my predicament. I want to get better at drawing, and art in general. I'm willing to admit I'm not the best on the block. However, I had a couple of ideas in mind, including posing for camera shots that I would later use as references for anatomy and such. That one isn't my concern. What I'm concerned about is that another idea I had was to look at other artists works and draw them by looking at them, kind of like looking at a model or still life and drawing it. I would in no way claim the art, or even post it, but I feel it might help me play around with styles, take what I want from various places and leave what I don't like behind.
So my question is this... am I in the wrong for wanting to do this? Would this be considered unethical or would it be a serious way to help improve my skills?

OMG What an Awesome Night!
Posted 17 years agoSo last night I finally attended my first concert.
*waits for comments of repression and silent laughter to dissipate*
Anyways, I felt it was time to change my musically boring life and go out to see a 3 band set. First up was Tokyo Police Club, who were pretty good. Next was Angels and Airwaves, whom I had never heard before and was blown away at the quality of their performance. Last up was Weezer, and holy hell, it was one hell of a show. Anyone who has seen em live should know just how far they'll go to make the show about their fans and to just give out a good time while playing some tunes. My biggest surprise is when Scott Shriner came out and they started to play King, which I was not expecting, but ever so pleased with ^.^
Anyways, I'm about to pass out from exaustion, so I shall be going. I hope to be able to do something even close to how awesome the show was sometime in the near future.

Rainfurrest...
Posted 17 years agoSo it was awesome. The hotel was a huge, HUGE improvement from the Ridpath of AFF (which I hear has been changed to a new hotel as well). I mean, seriously, the atrium really felt like it was an outdoors area. The congoers were fabulous, the staff extremely helpful, and the events fun. The variety show and Improv sessions in particular were hilarious. I did notice that someone was recording the Improv, so if anyone knows where to locate that, I would be greatly appreciative. Anyways, fantastic time, great fun, and Seattle is beautiful :).
Offline for a few days
Posted 17 years agoYeah, in some pain right now, fairly cranky and feeling antisocial, so taking a break from the online world for a couple of days. Should be better by Rainfurrest. Anyways, see ya there.
Bored x.x
Posted 17 years agoI'm sitting in the library.
I'm bored.
Super Bored.
Like, never been this bored before in my life bored.
So I figure I could ask a stupid question and see what happens.
What is your favorite type of food.
Mine is a tie between Jumbalaya, Sushi, and Steak.

Rainfurrest Is Coming :D
Posted 17 years agoSo I'll be heading out to Seattle next weekend to go up to Rainfurrest. It's gonna be fun :D Unfortunately, I wont have my suit done yet do to me being an idiot, but thats besides the point. Anyways, 2 things.
1. I'll be making a conbadge for myself. I'd be willing to make 2 more for whomever wants one, but I'm doin in on a first come first serve basis. Its free, so not much to lose, hehe.
2. If anyone wants my number so we can hang out up there, jsut drop me a note and let me know.
Looking forward to seeing ya all :D
P.S. Rock Band 2 is freakin awesome. Like, a God among music games. My band, High School Horror Story, is currently destroying the west coast :) that is all.
*Edit* I've filled up both badge slots now, as well as a thrid one for another con. Thanks for the interest, and I should have them done fairly soon.

Yeah, i know I haven't posted anything in a while. It's just cause I'm feeling super busy, burned out, and straight up apathetic towards pretty much everything right now. Just seems like anything I do or try to do end up blowing up in my face lately. Add to the fact that I'm getting close to running out of money in my savings, and you have the icing on the cake that is my problems right now.
*End bitchfest*
Anyways, sorry for the whining, but I just need to get some stuff out once in a while. As for updates on stuff, I do have a couple of pics I've drawn, one in particular to commemorate my upcoming b-day. others are just sketches. And lastly, I do know that I am super, super late on both a gift pic and a trade. If you are one of these two people, believe me when i say I'm sorry and that I'll try to get them done asap.
Alright, I'm back off to finish up some homework. Laters.

Interesting Article
Posted 17 years agoSo I totally took this from
sokitwopaw after reading it :P
When it comes down to it, all furries are in the fandom for is the yiff. To view yiffy porn and have yiffy role play on IM's and such. But what is yiff.
The most common answer would be that yiff is the furry terminology for anthropomorphic artwork, or virtual sexual acts between 2 or more net users, i.e cyber sex. Another answer is that yiff is the sound made when foxes mate, and that because there is a large grouping of fox characters in the fandom then it made sense for that sound to mean online furry sex.
But did you know that yiff actually means NEITHER of those. I'll give you a moment to let that sink in.
Back in 1990, when the net was still in its infancy there was no furry fandom as we know it. No cons, no FA or FAP, no furry MUCKS or furry IRC servers, not even a FurNation. Back then, furries had to meet in random locations to chat. Back then there was a user called Foxen who RP'd as a character called "littlefox". It was here that yiff came into meaning.
Ready for this...
Yiff means "hello".
Yes, the word that now means hardcore fetish involved furry sex once meant an energetic or happy hello. Yerf, which generally now means clean furry art, was a sad hello or yes. But at any rate, before 1990, yiff as a word did not exist. But then it came into formation and meant hello.
So I ask this one question; what in the name of Satan happened? How did a cute happy greeting get turned into a sexual reference? My only conclusion is that, being human and generally sexually developed, furries began churning out masses of furry porn and somehow yiff got dragged into this. This is only a guess but from what I've seen and experienced in the fandom probably quite true.
So, I am beginning a crusade. Post this article to your own journal and encourage others to do the same. It'll probably not work since, in the structure of the fandom, I'm less then a nobody, but maybe, just maybe it can cause a ripple or two and maybe then yiff can once again mean a happy hello and not a seedy sexual reference.
So... yiff everyone!
Let's promote more friendly, neighborhood yiff! ^.^
