News + Badge Trades #1 ACEO Trades #1
General | Posted 13 years agoTo everyone in this group, I am very sorry that things have not been running smoothly. After the tasks for badges were sent out, it was a jumble of things that, although sorted adequately, was draining - thus time was needed for sorting out badges.
Well, "time" led to lack of motivation.
I am wondering if people would prefer this group to be... more of a... "I'll find you a partner, and you can just trade together" type thing, rather than "I'll mix you all up and it's a surprise who is drawing for you"?
Obviously this will not be ideal for a surprise element, but it helps allow us to make sure you aren't matched with the same person twice by accident.
There will be (potentially/definitely) a new admin to the team, which should make sure things like this (inactivity) don't happen again. I trust that this person will continue sending out assignments on my behalf or do the sorting, however we function.
Sorry to all the ACEO traders - your join forms HAVE been received, it's still a matter of assigning you to each other... Please be patient while the new admin learns the ropes here, so that we can just... "shoot it out", basically. :/
As to the badge traders!
It's lovely to see that some people were so prompt.

General | Posted 14 years agoEntries for our very first trade event are now CLOSED.
Sorry if you weren't able to get in! There will always be a next time.
Your tasks will be sent out within the next 5 days. Upon completion of your task, please link the group (you can also link the person it was for, if you'd like!) so that we can upload it when we get all the entries! :)
Also be sure to mention that it was part of the ATC-Badge-Trade (linking the group) if you could xD; The more the word gets out, the more variety we will have!
We would also (very quickly) like to thank everyone for being so easy to understand within the entry forms :) You all filled them out fine, and for that, thank you!

Welcome new members!
General | Posted 14 years agoSo, thank you all for joining! We had a huge 10 people join in the first 24hrs of being a group! :D
Now, we had a few questions about the list in the last journal. To be honest, we did expect it to confuse a few people...
To explain it better, the list is just to help us out in giving you a trading partner. It's a list which just shows us who does what.
You are given a number when you join the list, in accordance to what # member you are in the group. This number is carried over between groups - it also means it's easy to swap you between groups at your request, or cancel your existence in that group. (by groups, I mean the ATC/Badge groups)
It doesn't matter to you, except that when people visit this group, they may click on you randomly from the list and visit you in search of the Badges/ATCs. :]
Registration to the list IS NOT COMPULSORY. It would be appreciated if you did join it, but you certainly DO NOT need to be on the list in order to join trade events!
If you do wish to join the member list, however, just follow the 2 simple steps in SECTION 4 of THIS JOURNAL: http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/3136686/

INFORMATION ON THIS GROUP - CONTAINS EVERYTHING!
General | Posted 14 years ago PLEASE NOTE! This group will require you to send and receive mail, unless the person you are drawing for states otherwise - in which case you receive the picture drawn for you, but don't mail your drawing off (explained in more detail in Section 3 of this journal).

ATC-Badge-Trade is all about gathering a load of artists (of all skill levels! *more on this later) to set up and trade cards/badges.
There are 2 separate sections within this group:
* ATC Trades
* Badge Trades
ATC Trades
ATC stands for Artist Trading Cards. These cards MUST be 2.5 X 3.5 inches (63 mm X 89 mm) in size. They are also commonly known as "ACEO cards".
**At this current stage, this group only caters for ATCs done with traditional media.
Sorry, no digital ones yet! (if this group picks up a little, we will find a way to include digital trades and update about it - but hey, the badge section includes digital!)
More (good, simple, etc) information about ATCs can be found here:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Artist_trading_cards
http://www.squidoo.com/whatisaceo
Otherwise just google "What is an ACEO" or "About ACEO", etc.
To view examples of other ATCs, just do a furaffinity search for "aceo card", "aceo trade", etc. Many beautiful ones will come up. (Yes, they can be portrait OR landscape!)
Usually an artist does the card on cardstock or cardboard, just so that there's the less 'fragile' element to it. Then, the person receiving their new card can slip it into a collector's folder!
Badge Trades
By badges, we mean the ones that are often brought to conventions. To get a better understanding, do a search for "conbadge", "con badge", "badges", etc.
* There are no set rules for these! Each artist has a different way of making badges - headshots, bust shots, fullbody, feral, anthro, traditional, digital, large, small, background, cut-round-the-edges, etc - they are unique to you, and we have no restrictions here!
DIGITAL BADGES ARE ALLOWED! Unlike the ATC category, you may create digital badges. Please take extra care when joining the trade journals, as you will need to provide specifics with your badges.
YES, you may join either category, or both! Just because you want to join one, does not mean you are committed to the other. But please specify! And read the HOW TO JOIN section!
This is entirely up to you. When a new journal comes up from the group, usually titled "NEW TRADES STARTING: SIGN UP:" or something, you just follow the instructions within the journal. You do NOT have to join EVERY event, especially if you are unsure whether you can finish by the deadline.
You will have a few days (4) to sign up on the list, then registrations for that particular trade will close. This is to ensure we can sort people with trade partners without anyone new suddenly joining. Once all notes have been sent out to the people who registered (telling them what they'll be drawing), the deadline date will be announced.
Deadline?! Yes, each trade session has a deadline! This is to ensure that all artists get their butts moving and finish their side! Fear not, however - you will probably have a whole month to finish your piece. If everyone finishes their half before the deadline, though, we can start a new trade sooner!
Once you have signed up to the event (and listed your conditions of trade, ref sheets, and whatever else is required by that journal) - leave it up to me.
We will assign you a permanent number and match it with someone to draw for. The thing about this is that you don't know who will be drawing for you!
Confused?
Well, to explain. In regular trades X draws for Y, and Y draws for X, yes? In this trade system X may draw for B, while B draws for F, but F draws for J, and J draws for X. You with me? It may end up as a regular trade, but I will try not for this, to keep it a surprise!
Skill Level
We are aware that the more 'advanced' artists are not always particularly interested in receiving works from artists who are still developing their skills. I will ALWAYS TRY to to make sure the trades are fair, but please bear with me. It's going to be difficult for the first few trades to be totally fair, due to low numbers/choice of trade pairs.
For this reason, please SOLIDLY STATE on your "Joining" application whether you want to be matched to someone of the same skill level ALWAYS, or whether you don't mind too much. (please have some faith in us, we're not going to match you to someone far-off from you as it is)
If you are still concerned (actually, this would help us A LOT), or wish to let us know the kind of 'level' you would accept, just link me to a picture that shows the very 'worst' you'd be willing to receive. (don't worry, we will keep this 100% private - it's just to guide us with our choices)
Badges
Being that Badges can either be digital or traditional, you will be required to state (at the time of registration per event) whether you will be drawing digital or traditional, and which you'd like to receive (if any particular). These choices are then locked in, but can be altered at the next trade you join in.
Artists: Please sign your signature, username and the date on the back, if you want! You want the person who got your card to be able to flip it over and see who did it. This not only makes sure the receiving person can't claim the artwork, but it allows them and anyone they show to chase you up - which results in more publicity and possible commissions for you. :)
~~> But I don't want to give my address to the person who did my card!
You are required to find a way to mail out the picture you drew to the person it was for, whether you get a friend to do it, or send it to me (the owner of this ATCBT group) to pass on, you must find a way.
If you are worried about giving your address out to the card/badge maker, there are 2 alternatives (both options involve passing your address through the owner of this group):
1. Enter the trade anonymously.
This means that when I give your information (excluding postal address) to the person drawing for you, I keep your username anonymous. I give them ref sheets, theme involved, etc - but keep any link that it might be you private. Then when it comes time for them to mail to you, you send ME your address (as opposed to sending it directly to the artist) which I pass on. This way, they know where to send the artwork, and that you appreciate it enough to want it in real life, but they don't know who you are. (if you want to stay SUPER anonymous, you can refrain from commenting on the actual submission, and just send a comment about the piece through me) And what use is an address without knowing who lives there? Not much. :]
IF YOU DON'T WANT TO RECEIVE THE PIECE DONE FOR YOU AT ALL, JUST TELL THE ARTIST DIRECTLY THAT THEY CAN KEEP IT. And unless you get one of these messages from the person you drew for, you MUST send your piece on.
Not sending the piece without good reason can result in being banned (temporarily) from future trades.
2. Get the piece sent to me, where I then send it to you.
This way means that the artist who drew for you gets to know who you are, and you can comment freely about the piece you received - but, they never get to see your address. They simply send the piece to my house, where I send it to your house. (alternatively, why not get it sent to a friend's house, directly from the artist?)
Unless you choose one of the above options to keep your privacy, you are the one responsible for handing your address over to the artist.
THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION IS FOR JOINING THE GROUP, NOT EACH TRADE EVENT!
Trade events are individual, and journal based. Being a member of the group is permanent (unless you want to leave), and does not mean you are involved in every trade.
Please do WATCH THE GROUP, or else you will miss out on the joining journals.
You can either comment on this journal, send a note, or shout on the page:
1. State whether you want to be involved in ATC trades or Badge Trades - or both.
(we will compile a members list on a new journal with your ATCBT number - this list will be categorised ATCs and Badges - you can be under both.)
2. State whether you want to be strictly set with artists of your level, or don't mind some leeway, or don't mind at all. (If you're going to provide an example of the type of 'leeway' you'd allow, please NOTE with your JOINING entry)
I think that's all. :3
REMEMBER: when you finish your piece for someone, link them to it! And DEFINITELY link the group, so we can upload it! This ensures you don't risk getting reported by that user for them not receiving anything.
At this current moment, the group is only moderated and managed by one person. At a later stage, I will ask some trusted, frequent users of this group to help me (if they want)!
Until then, you can take the following steps to help me run the group:
1. Become a backup artist for trades!
What this means is that if someone doesn't receive a picture (because of someone being lazy or other reasons), you offer to draw them what the other person should have. Yes, it means you will end up doing 2 cards for that particular trade - but it will ensure that no one misses out. You may not even be called upon, if everyone plays this game fairly. To sign up to be a backup artist, just remember what it means, and agree when the new trade journals come out!
2. Tell me if you haven't received your image by the time the deadline is over.
Remember to check the group gallery first as we upload all the new pictures (don't worry, there won't be 'picture spam' because we'll probably stick multiple cards onto one image and then upload).
If you still can't find it, send the group a note. We will then seek out who the artist was supposed to be, and check their gallery. If it's still not there, we will send them a note for an explanation. Depending on the answer, this is where they'll either be punished by temporary bans from trading, or a backup artist will be called.
3 temporary bans equals a permanent ban.
If you cannot get your piece done on time, tell us before the deadline! You will not be penalised for this, because it means we can then call on a backup artist early, so they have a chance to finish it on your behalf.
Backup artists will get special features in journals for their hard work and commitment, and I encourage all users who are grateful to these backup artists to draw them a little gift! Or at least, thank them very warmly. You can count on us doing so. :)
Well? :D Any questions?
