So a while ago I remember posting on here about how upset I was that someone insulted my owlsuit. That was important to me. Funny how suddenly life creeps up on you and makes you re-evaluate priorities.

Since last journal, I have had the life changing situation of having cancer decide to rear its ugly head and attack my younger sister. She's 28. I will never forget "she has stage 4 colon cancer and it has moved into her liver as well."

Things have changed so much. Watching her go through chemo, and 2 major surgeries so far has taken a toll on my family. We have just learned it may have moved to her lungs. Will this ever get better?

This Owl really hopes so.

So, after a time away, and many supportive comments, I've decided to stick around.

Also, rather sad I couldn't go to AC2014... but that's life getting in the way! Hope anyone who did get to attend had an awesome time. :)

It has become evident that apparently people in this fandom don't believe in freedom of expression. I am tired of being told that you don't like the orange hair on my fursuit. I am sick of having to explain and justify myself all the time.

I also really just don't fit in at all.

Therefore, I am just going to close this account. No more conventions that I don't enjoy for lack of friends, no one has to see my ugly hair ever again.

Thank you to all of the artists who've helped bring Athene to life over the years. I still love your work.

I guess I am wondering if anyone I know might be there?? I want suit pics with you if you are going to show up!

Also... I might run around like crazy giving wing hugs to all. FREE WING HUGS FOR YOU IF YOU BRING ME CHOCOLATE. Who am I kidding... they would be free anyway. ^v^

We all have different tastes and opinions, which is what stops the world from being boring. This is why I understand the people who don't understand the orange hair or why I want it.

If you don't care for it, that fine with me. BUT... is there really a need to PM me and tell me to change my character because you don't like it? No. Respect my choice, because it is a super personal preference.

This is to everyone for all of your love, support and happiness for me when I got my suit. I can't tell you how happy I am to finally have a suit to represent me, and to have so MANY people hug me in it just is awesome.

And of course, thank you to my Dragon. Love of my life, thanks for being my spotter so I didn't run over small children, or run into walls. For taking me to the headless lounge when I needed it, and just for being there for me over the past 10 years while I ranted and raved about how "one day I will have my OWLSUIT!". Well, I finally do. I have my wings, and I'm proud to wrap them around you with squishy hugs.

And that is all. Now I must return to real life.

I currently own a Nikon D40, which was an excellent starter DSLR, but now I'm looking to move forward. I also would like a better lens, since my telephoto is absolute shit. Thinking about the Nikon D5100, but any thoughts from anyone?

Willing to spend up to approx $800 on the body. If you can recommend a lens, I'll have to see what kind of prices I can get things for.

Is it weird that after AC I keep finding drawings online of "new" characters who happen to look a lot like Athene?? Ugh. I suppose I can't stop anything like that either. :P
