Zootopia....
Posted 9 years agoHere I am, sitting in my hotel room at
nordicfuzzcon and looking back at yesterday's screening for the convention. We didn't just show up as a group there, we didn't just rent "a room" there, we did actually rent the whole (small but still) cinema which is normally closed on Thursdays!
Quite a large number of attendees also went there in fursuit - as can be seen here: https://twitter.com/atkelar/status/.....05194466004992
TL;DR result first: I loved the movie and am going to watch it again sometime soon back in Vienna!
I'm trying not to mention any details here beyond what's been in the trailers already.
The good part is, that the story does have some (minor) surprises in it and it actually makes sense once you have accepted the universe the film is playing in. No magic or stuff, just - as advertised - a world where animals (mammals) took the place of the humans in a modern world. There are some species specific jokes in there of course.
What really surprised me, is that the main characters have more depth to them than some people on my twitter timeline gave them credit for. Nick *is* a sly fox trickster and Judy is a scared bunny... but that's just the surface that made it into the trailers.
Now to the not so good part: it seems that Zootopia-mania-tropolis-whatever doesn't only have a new name in every location it's shown, but also some more or less individualized conetent. Around here we had the English version with subtitles and yet they called the city "Zootropolis". I still have no idea how a city that lends it's name to the movie title can be called "Zoomania" in German. Blergh. I hope I get to see an ORIGINAL (i.e. Hollywood US) verson when I get to buy the BD version.
This decision is going to cause so much confusion all around the globe and social network friendships when talking about the movie, it's not even funny anymore :(
So: Go see Zotopiamaniatropolistown!

NordicFuzzCon 2015 - Galleries
Posted 10 years agoFinally!
It took some time to process all the images (I picked approx. 710 of my own and 50 of Emphy's) were finally post-processed on Saturday. After I uploaded them to the server in the night from Saturday to Sunday, I (and many others) realized that the gallery would now take some ten minutes to actually do anything and another several minutes until even one image was shown.
Well: "Good news, everyone!" - I spent a few hours burried in the server and JS code and found several issues that bogged down that gallery beyond funny. I'll write a book about the errors I found some time... for now, I'm pleased to say: it works, it delivers images within a decent time. It still needs work, I know... a "loading" animation comes to mind... as well as a better handling of scrolling for longer thumbnail lists. And a newer visual design... but these are not really requirements to get the images out there, so for now: Please have fun with the gallery!

A general "thank you!"
Posted 13 years ago...to everybody out there leaving kind words or constructive criticism in comments or shouts! I write this as a journal because I feel that writing "thank you" after each and every comment or posting a "thanks for the fav" shout is neither sencere nor productive... it is just the (probably automated) "AOL" answer of "Web 2.0" IMHO... So if I don't have to say anything to add to it, a comment will remain as is.
But the recent fusuit pictures have gotten more comments than usual (yeah, it's still pathetic compared to other artists :) ) and so I felt like typing out this little note to let you know that your comments and favs are very much appreciated! After all it's that little ego boost that makes the effort worthwhile! And if somebody tells you the comments/favs/shouts don't matter to them at all in a vain attempt of false modesty they are just full of it. Because if these things didn't provide at least a nice feeling of accomplishment... why bother to post your work on a free-to-view site in the first place?
So: Thanks again to all of you! <3

3D Software limited time offer...
Posted 14 years agoSome "viral plug" here... I think the idea of a viral special offer rather interesting and getting a chance to claim a pretty expensive application at a bargin bin price for a limited time is quite interesting. http://www.projectmessiah.com/x6/shop.html
