Alright, so there's something of a musical oddity that occurs between these two pieces from Azure Dreams. You only really have to listen to the very beginning of either one.

The first plays for, I believe, the first five floors of the game's iconic tower, and the second plays for at least the next five floors. The ascension isn't just visual, though -- there's definitely an uplifting, forward-moving, perhaps uneasy quality to the second piece, and I can't put my finger on what makes it sound that way. Is it just because of the identical leitmotif being played at a higher pitch? I don't think so... even when I listen to it separately from the first piece, it feels like the melody doesn't settle into the underlying harmony quite as gently. The piece is a 4th higher than the original, I think, which is definitely a place to go that says "hey, okay, we're pushing things along," but the flute almost sounds like it's tuned a little too high, or something.
Anyways, that's what I'm trying to put my finger on, maybe somebody reading has a better idea than I do. I'd probably be able to work it out with a piano next to me but I don't have one here in my apartment!

Although some days I've considered my recovery strong, today is not one of those days
I lost my best friend at the beginning of this year, and while I've been reaching out and meeting many new, kind people as a result of suggestion, I'm in basically the prime definition of a relapse
I've missed about 85% of my classes this semester, I haven't made any relationships of worth in my program, and my irrational fear of driving has kept me from visiting my parents, my friends at home, as well as my psychiatrist. I don't even have the necessary prescriptions to get the meds I need right now.
I've lashed out at and harassed innocent people in anger, and I've been quiet with people who need me because losing key friendships has set my anxious personality disorder into overdrive. I haven't had legitimate suicidal thoughts in years, but this is closest I've ever been since.
I don't know what to do.

Hey, have any of you guys had experience working with synths that were either ripped directly from a game, or recorded and re-pitched to emulate their sound?
I want to make a classic-sounding Pokemon battle theme, and my best bet so far is to just go straight through MIDI and run it through a program called GXSCC:

But I'm looking to really get that classic Game Boy sound. I've heard of people using SNES soundfonts with FruityLoops, I believe, to pretty fantastic results, but I don't know the first thing about FruityLoops. Let me know if you have any tips!

I've been able to legally drink for five years now... Feels positively surreal. Thanks to everyone who's been supportive of me throughout the years!

So I saw this preview for a cartoon that's essentially an animated Sex & The City five-minute sitcom with furries. As far as I can tell, it was written and animated in Japan, but the show is spoken entirely in English.

The entire season is only a little over an hour, so I'm nearly finished, but the characters are so fun I felt like I had to share :D

I'm going through and converting every MIDI file to MP3 using iTunes. This means that the sound will remain the same, except that the file types shouldn't make your browsers explode anymore. At least, that's what happened with mine when I tried to load up the old submission pages. Some of the volume regulation might be a little screwed up, or some of the pieces might not sound exactly as initially intended, but they're playable at the very least.
I have a LOT more uploaded than I thought. I'm up to the beginning of page 5 of my gallery at the moment, granted you're looking at 36 submissions at a time.

So, those of you who had problems opening MIDI files even from the beginning of my uploading, go nuts :V Just don't go nuts past page 4. That's too much nuts. I'll let you know when I finish converting the remainder, but I'm taking a little break for now.

Somebody please help me understand the recent boom of the term "privilege" and how automatically I should be viewed as an obstacle, or someone who should be put in their place, or a superhuman being

I was born a white male in America, and although I feel I reap the benefits of where I live, it's very upsetting to me that I have to suffer under the scrutiny of others without lifting a finger. Lately I've been doing a fair amount more Tumblr browsing, and I love the video game communities and the art and the humor in the most-shared posts, but while browsing every so often I'm hit with explanations that begin with, "This is why I hate men," or, "Take a look at the newest attempt to belittle women by men" or "blacks by whites" or "trans* by binary."

I first tell myself, "Oh, I didn't realize I was doing anything to hurt anybody." I want to read more; I want to educate myself. But in an attempt at enlightenment, I really only get more and more disheartened. Usually these outcries are written by people who don't want change, they simply want to exclaim their hate for a particular group under the guise of petitioning for equality. Nothing that anybody says will change these people's minds -- they're looking for a mob to back up behind them. To tell them that their words are right, that their hate is justified, and that everybody but them is wrong.

To quote the aggrieving post: "if anybody asks me why i hate men, i’m just gonna redirect them to this post.
it’s pretty fucking obvious that men only want to invest in breast cancer research to further degrade, objectify, and jerk off to body parts they already feel 100% entitled to. that’s what is at stake for them. " Link here for a little more context on the post.
I'm sorry, but what the fuck? Do these people listen to themselves? Do they need to condense FIFTY PERCENT of the EARTH'S POPULATION into a nifty little bracket so that they can blame the problems caused by so few on so many? Is it really so safe to assume that because I'm physically male, the only reason that I would ever donate to a breast cancer cause is because it somehow PUTS WOMEN IN THEIR PLACE? Not only is that disgusting, but it's absolutely insulting to think of anybody that I've known or that I've cared for who has suffered from breast cancer, died from it, had scares from it (as my own mother did)... And yes, you could say "Well  atma505, then you should have been exploring the blog of someone who refers to herself as a 'man-hating lesbian with unpopular opinions'... But I wasn't! Nearly fifty-thousand people have either "liked" this post or shared it on their own blogs! I couldn't get away from it if I tried!

Is this what people are referring to when they warn you about triggers on this site? Because if so, then I suppose I've discovered mine, and it's these so-called "warriors" of social justice
