Posted 15 years agoFirst off, have a happy one. Eat lots of ham, cause turkey is overrated. Deliciously overrated.
Anywho, I should be asleep, cause I need to help my parents finish setting up. Which includes helping my Dad getting the extra tab;e and chairs out of the tool shed. And by helping, I mean doing. Its a bit of a hassle to get anything in or out of that thing right now. And since he's still recovering from tearing his right quadriceps, I'll be the one doing the awkward moving.
Lucky me, I dodge helping Mom with the cooking. Though I will have to play mini baby-sitter to my niece to make sure she doesn't get into anything she shouldn't. Like my room, for starters.
Technically that means that I should be trying to get some sleep in right now, but I'mnot half tired. Which is gonna suck, cause i start helping in about four hours, maybe five tops.
And its amazing how fucking fast I can type when I have the ideas already floating in my head of what I want to say. You should be seeing how fucking fast my fingers are flying on this keyboard. I mean really, its kinda fast. Like, wicked fast.

Dear Credit One Bank...
Posted 15 years agoHello, my name is Chris. I've been a holder of your credit card for 3-4 years now. I've even paid the premium to have a personal image imprinted onto my credit card. But I have come to discover a great travesty in your system.
Specifically, in your bill payment.
When I first started the concept of the online bill payment, it was practically a godsend. Allowing me to reduce my paper trail, and not worry about checks potentially getting lost in the mail? How could I go wrong? And it was free?! Why yes, I would like to begin paying my credit card bill by interwebs.
However, that was a short lived love affair. I gave you a small benefit of the doubt when you started charging me for it. $5 isn't that bad of a loss, even though you take that little fee out of the amount I actually pay towards the card. But I ignored it. Least until the fee rose again to almost $10. That is where I drew the line with the bill pay and went back to checks.
But alas, you implemented a new payment program. You allow me to a 'Express Payment,' which for that near $10 fee, you can have the funds on my account credited within three to four days. Or you can allow me to make a free bill payment. However, the free option takes ten (10) days to clear. And I do not mean just clear, but to even be credited to my banking account.
I see a major problem in this. Let me do some math for you:
-- $10 fee + bank account + Internet = Bill payed in 3-4 days.
-- $0 fee + bank account + Internet = Bill payed in 10-14 days.
-- $.42 stamp + check + Snail Mail = Bill payed in 3-5 days.
Could you please enlighten me on as to why the most effective method for paying my bill, when considering the factors of time and cost, involves the most indirect route?
Sincerely,
C. R. Ingtail

If you need me...
Posted 15 years agoI'll be in the Comfort Inn across the street from Furfright.
I'll be in Room 420. Its the greatest room ever. And I'm totally not joking about that. If my phone wasn't roaming in the room, I'd post the picture to prove it.
But you have to excuse me. I just drove 7.5 hours in a Saturn and I need a shower. Like now.

Somehow, I am not satisfied.
Posted 15 years agoI just work 11 day this pay period.
I clocked 80 full hours, and almost 14 hours of overtime.
And somehow, I am not satisfied.
Maybe its because I had to deal with a massive estrogen storm on Saturday. One said the wrong thing (or simply in the wrong tone,) and I had to deal with three women practically at each others throats for the rest of the night. And it doesn't help that I am anti-confrontational. I wanted to sit back and just let it run its coarse, but I ended up being dragged into it.
Then today I had a bummer start to my day cause I broke my 7-11 Iced Coffee cup, then got a breakfast sandwich with no meat on it. Then I had to deal with the delivery driver that is rather annoying. He bitches about the fact that he's not out on the road at a specific time. Well with him bitching, that slows me down and only gets him out later.
I'm just getting tired of my job. Actually, its more bored than tired. The money pays alright. And now that I don't have a car loan to sap away from my bank, I might be able to actually start putting some money side for a rainy day.
Whatever. It's 1:30 and my computer is lagging because the anti-virus is starting to take all the RAM.

I feel so burned out...
Posted 15 years agoThere are just some things I'd like to tweet about. But my manager above me watches my Twitter account and he has already once blabbed about something work related I tweeted to our boss, so that ain't happening again.
But the thing going on with me? I just feel so burned out with my job at this moment.
Reason? My assistant sous chef blew his back out a few weeks ago. Herniated disks put him out of work for a while. Now, what this means is that I have to shift my schedule a lot, being the manager. The guy above me was able to pick up one of two of my shifts (on his and my boss' directive,) but he acts as liason between day and night shifts, so that can't happen often.
Let's also take into account the fact that we're getting busy again. We've picked up a couple new locations for our route. We also had the Hay Adams come back after being gone three months with renovation. However, their new kitchen manager wants to do everything in house. And both my boss and the guy that orders pastry for them don't want that to happen. So now we have to make all their pastry look pretty, which puts more pressure on me.
Look, I'm not saying that I don't like my job. At least not yet. But... to be honest, two weeks in the row of overtime pay really isn't what I was expecting when I took the night manager job four-five months ago.
Kinda explains why I can't get to sleep right now. That or I could stand for a shower.
I can't wait for FurFright.

(Insert Multiple Fucks Here)
Posted 15 years agoSo I lost my PokeWalker last week. I figured it was somewhere in my room, so i didn't worry too much about it.
Well I found it today. As I was putting my work clothes into the dryer. :D
Read on the Nintendo Forums that if I let it air dry, I might get lucky. If not, I just bookmarked the Nintendo Shop page where I can get it for under $10.
Oh joy. :D

Upping the Ante (DnD Speak)
Posted 15 years agoSO I'm upping the ante on my DnD campaign. Mainly with my melee strikers, as its about time I start bringing my A game.
But I can't go into too much detail until I debut them tomorrow night. As both the Half-dragon Swordsage 9/Crusader 1/Cleric 1/Ruby Knight Vindicator 2 (with stupid high AC scores)
hahenka and my Sorcerer 5/ Cleric 5/ Mystic Theurge 5
miltoniusprime both are on this site.
Expect an update tomorrow. Possibly during the session itself.

Roller Coaster Tycoon
Posted 15 years agoI want to play it.
As long as its the first or the second, as those are in the visual style I prefer.
But I can't find a torrent for it that isn't in an .iso format.
And I brought it from Direct2Drive. The install attempt causes the .exe file to piss off my anti-virus as it sees it as a Trojan source. And any attempts to ask D2D themselves for help were quickly pushed aside with an auto-response that pretty much tells me its Atari's problem and I should go ask them.
I just wanna get my classic game fix in, man.... Fucking A.

Straight to my head like the first cigarette of the day.
Posted 15 years agoSo I'm there
Charging around with a juggernaut brow
Overdraft, speeches and deadlines to make
Cramming commitments like cats in a sack
Telephone burn and a purposeful gait
When out of a doorway the tentacles stretch
Of a song that I know
And the world moves in slow-mo
Straight to my head
like the first cigarette of the day
And it's you, and it's May
And we're sleeping through the day
And I'm five years ago
And three thousand miles away
Do I have
time? A man of my calibre
Stood in the street like a sleepwalking teenager
No.
And I dealt with this years ago
I took a hammer to every memento
But image on image like beads on a rosary
pulled through my head as the music takes hold
and the sickener hits; I can work till I break
but I love the bones of you
That, I will never escape
And it's you, and it's May
And we're sleeping through the day
And I'm five years ago
And three thousand miles away
And I can't move my arm
Through the fear that you will wake
And I'm five years ago
And three thousand miles away
This song is keeping me sane as I work seven days straight with a co-workers I wish to destroy.
And alcohol. Oh Laird's Applejack on the rocks. <3

ARRRGGHH!!! BRAKE NOOIISSSEEEE!!!!
Posted 15 years agoSo my brakes are making this odd sound every now and again.
Productive reasoning would suggest that I need to do brake work. And I know for a fact that last time I did it (cause I'm a cheap ass and do it myself) I never replaced the rotors. So now would be a good time as any to do so as well.
~checks Advanced site~ About $80 to get the parts.
~checks checking account~ I have about $98. And I'm not touching the money in my savings, as I'm trying to save up for FurFright.
Well, this needs to be done now, as I'd rather not have brakes when I need them. I travel at 70MPH for the majority of my drive to work.
And since I'm still up due to forced insomnia (and a vodka pass-out gave me a surprise 4-hr nap), here we go!

Now all I need to do is register and I'll be set. Then all I'll need to do is have my boss give me the time off, which shouldn't be (read 'Better not be') a problem.

FurFright 2010 (Room Update)
Posted 15 years agoSo I might have a target on my room.
I'm gonna keep details quiet, as I don't wanna jinx it, but I could have my own room come this Friday.
It's smoking, which I can deal with. That would allow me to bring my hookah.
Its in the overflow hotel, which I can deal with. I don't mind walking a block to the convention, and free continental breakfast will take a load off my wallet.
I would have to place a reservation down for a day I won't be there, which I can deal with. Even if I have to pay for that extra day, I still would be coming out ahead of booking at the normal rate. Even if I use my AAA benefits, I would be over $100 compared to the con-rate.
And I would be able to pay for it all up front, if possible, thanks to the way that my pay checks fall in relation to my bills.
I'm gonna keep my fingers crossed. It would nice being able to be in complete control of my convention situation.

Minor things that annoy me...
Posted 15 years agoSo I decided to play my old copy of 4x4 Evolution 2 for PC.
And I should of suspected something was up when it didn't recognize how mych free HD was on my unit.
I created a save file with a truck I didn't want. Last night, I got an insane amount of game play in. About 5 hours worth. Save my game and shut it down for the night.
Come back to it today and load up my file. It still the POS truck I first got with the initial save file, along with all the work I just did being wasted.
I uninstalled the game cause i didn't want to fight with it.
Whatever. There be crab cakes in the fridge that I'm about to annihilate. Later.

I've Discovered Something Amazing!
Posted 15 years agoThe graphics card on this laptop of mine has a monitor output.
The output matches the one for my 19" flat screen.
I should of figured, as it the standard for analog-style monitor connectivity, but I just noticed it.
Now all I need to do it acquire me a wireless keyboard, and I can have a home mode set-up for my laptop.
Matter of fact, I'm running my Zune software through my 4.2 Bose speakers right now. My music never sounded this good on my old unit.

FurFright 2010
Posted 15 years agoOK, let's bump that emo journal with something a bit more lighthearted.
And pressing.
I need to work on getting myself a room for FurFright. And I'd like to have my own room as a primary option, roomsharing as a alt (since I don't really know anyone who's going atm.)
The main hotel is pretty much booked up (can't get the consecutive I want.) I need to make a call over to the overflow hotel in the AM to see if they still have something at the con rate. If not, I already know what that I can currently get a room using the AAA rate. Which is about $30 more than the advertised con rate.
Pretty much the room is the only thing holding me back. I'll be between paychecks come con time, but I figure I can not spend the money to afford gas/tolls. So I literally just need a place to stay from Thursday check-in til Monday check-out.
This should be fun. ~rolls eyes~
