OK much more rested up now, so what better time than to give a proper post-Megaplex shout page!


Megaplex was overall a really great con! The hotel was awesome, too! Nice layout, dat pool, and both Reg & elevator action was at a top speed, too! Anything I wanted to access or get done, got done with maximum ease.

The con events were REALLY fun! I haven't been to an Iron Artist event in years, but it was really really fun, and I'm glad it had some crowd participation segments to help make it interactive and keep it lively. DEFINITELY an event I'll be catching again, and suggesting more and more to join up at! There was also a Japanese GameShow thing, with even as goofy as it was, I couldn't help but join in it's silliness. (but if I hear that Yatta one more time-) The dance was, as always, amazing to watch, and it's wild to see such a range of participants, all sizes and ages, really get out there and work their routines. A really nice lil' con-weekend to have overall, for sure! :3

It's like I'm really watching an episode of Ghost Hunters

A lot of folks are still thinking that I'm making FWA, but unfortunately I gotta bail out this year. No time or money issues, but a month or so ago, I was presented a major opportunity at work to further my position, and while it goes into effect at the end of this month and doesn't directly conflict with the con schedule, I've been personally holding back from vacation time until April and later so I can maintain as much focus and attention to work as I can until all is said and done.


It's a MAJOR bummer to have to miss out on whats SEEMING to be the hypest year of the con, but by passing this one up, it's opening a world of changes and opportunities for me, both at work and home, including making future vacations as much more accessible as frequent.


For FWA though, I expect every one of ya to be having THE BEST time around. Best dances, best GoH birthday-party, best Marvel throw-downs, best VIDS of all the action (lookin' at the top-tier film crews runnin' around!) and what I'm hoping to be a potentially great new venue to party-hard in!

Super eager to hear all about it all, and ya'll BETTER be making me jealous with the updates!

_{I rarely say stuff that's on my mind like this, but guess it's ok to kinda squeeze it out for the holiday, just to get it out of my system}


It's something I wish people did regularly. I keep the things I'm thankful for on my mind every day, because I acknowledge that everything I have in life right now may have never come to be; the people I've grown closer to and share my daily life with; home and work situations, and everything it encompasses. True that today may be the day to openly celebrate it, but it's still things that never leave my mind. I feel I'm heading in the right direction in life, and feel I'm heading there with the right people by my side. This is something I believe a lot of people, near and far, are still in search for, and something I absolutely treasure having in life: Direction.

It's genuinely concerning when others tend to have the mentality of "wow, so-and-so is lucky to have such". If only life was so black and white, right? We each receive something truly unique about ourselves, but it's how we use it that counts. I've seen the best things happen to the worst people, and the worst things happen to some of the best, as I'm sure many of you have. I've seen people who have the biggest homes, the most supportive families, and true, undeniable security in their life to fall back on, yet squander it away and spend their time buried in complaints, in longing for more, in seemingly true unhappiness in such. Yet right next to them, I see people with life altering injuries, especially this past weekend, still heading towards the life they seek amidst what holds them back. Not to call anyone out, but this weekend alone, I saw people with diseases sit down, talk, laugh, and have the time of their lives. I saw people pronounced knee injuries get up and actually dance with others, yet all the while, and in some cases, literally feet away, hearing another complaining about his dance routine results as if the experience and opportunity was no longer a factor in the fun to be had, but instead, results. I saw people who missed out on a thing or two in life that they wanted, and because of such, can barely function in society anymore. People surrounded by ones he calls friends on all sides, yet sits and stares, longing for something different, doing nothing more than voicing complaints while those around him continue trying to cherish the short time they had together. Of course, there's a fine line between something genuinely bad happening to someone and authentic pessimism, but it always seems that only the spoiled cannot tell the difference between the two.

For myself, over the weekend and past few months, several of my friends planned a surprise for me. A lot of time, effort, and money, was donated solely on my behalf to help me acquire something I've wanted. In many ways, I still don't know how to properly show how thankful I am for such. Obviously not the gift directly, that's great, but the act of such it what I can't stop thinking about. That in the life that I lead, that I've grown to be with people who would go out of their way to pitch in and do such, just for me. I didn't need anything in the first place, and I don't know why I even got nominated to be the receiver of something so special, be it big or small. It's flooring to me, and honestly, it's something I'm really not used to and don't know how to handle all too well. A handshake or a hug doesn't cut it, and typing "thank you smileyface.jpg" just doesn't convey how I feel. It's one of those things that just sits in my mind and reminds me that wow, of all the things that life has thrown at me, look at the people I have now. Look who I sit with, chat to, laugh with, and learn more about, every single day of my life, and even want to do the same with me. I don't know how to say how much it meant to me, at all, just thank every one of you who put forth such a thought on my behalf.

Everything, good or bad, leads us and shapes us into the people we continue becoming. I wasn't fortunate enough to have a family or a safe haven to fall back on if the going got rough. Never had a chance at college, and missed out on quite a bit just to stay afloat. Up until the past few years, everything has been nothing but a struggle. But through it all, as hectic as it's been, I've never been more thankful now than for the people I can share my life with, and I wouldn't change a single thing about it. I'm thankful for all the experiences I've had, both good and bad, because they've both lead me to where I am today. I'll never know how a life like mine ended up being so blessed.

- Thursday night pizza outting. That Giodorno's place is the bomb, but sharing it with loved ones is a true treat of it's own. THE TINIEST NOODLES and ALL that MEATSAUCE!
- I tried a fully loaded Sushi treat.. and I LOVED IT. I NEVER thought I'd like such a thing really, but authentic Tahoedook persuasion finally pushed me into having a, if I'm not mistaking, a type of Dragon Roll sushi. It had Eel, asperagus, avocado, shrimp, and some fish-egg-poprock things on top but ya know what WHATEV it was MAD yummy. I even had a second one! :'D _{And then I cleverly hid a few bucks in appreciation for having been shared so much} it was DELICIOUS!
- I thought the soda machine in the con suite was a really cool touch! :) It was ALWAYS out of delicious MtDew, but hey it's yummy, so it was expected.
- I'M ORANGE NOW

Some of the not-so-personal fav moments:

- The con went by EXTREMELY FAST. Granted YEAH it's the sign of a good time but.. WHAT AM I DOING HOME ALREADY? How is it already Tuesday? WHERE DID IT ALL GO?
- I never thought Chicago in November would be so warm, meep! So much for the classic run-outside-to-cool-off trick! :X
- I didn't drink enough water early on and I paid the price. ¯\(ツ)/¯ That'll teach me! Glad I have a water coach now!

Finally back home to find myself bombarded with surprise messages and wellwishes! I honestly do NOT know what to say to all of this! Just occurred to me that I've been a part of this furry thing for 11 years as of a few days ago. Kinda wild to not only remember how different I was back then, but how different everyone and everything was, too. I've seen a lot of people change for the better, and some for the worse unfortunately, but it's actually fascinating to think back to how things were back then.

Several years and 28 furcons later, I'm enjoying it more and more, getting to meet new folks in person and revisit older friends, though always for shorter times than I wish. And as funny as it can be to look back at all that, I'm more excited to look ahead. I'm happy to see so many of my friends starting to make more positive changes in their lives, and I look forward to seeing how they still continue to grow. :)

It was on May 18th 2001, but I forgot about it because of Diablo 3.. which it turns out I don't really enjoy afterall

I didn't really announce I was heading to FCN this year, as plans before hand were a bit shaky, but I had some help and support prior and was fortunate enough to make it up there to give it a try.

FCN seriously became one of my favorite cons after this weekend. I went in not really knowing what to expect, and honestly I hadn't heard much of this con in general, but even when first arriving, I started off impressed. Nice con layout in a really convenient hotel location, really friendly staff work that went as smooth as could be, and I was surrounded by some of the best people I've ever had in my life the entire weekend. From beginning to end, I absolutely loved the weekend I had. Especially thankful for  theomeraccoon for not only convincing me to go, but for making the whole weekend possible for me in the first place, as well as every single person I got to spend close time with, and even those I simply got to see again in passing.

Sure, every con has friend meetups, handshakes, and funtimes and such, but this one really felt different to me. I really felt closer to MANY of my friends on a more personal basis. There wasn't much suity time at all, and the fact that FCN is always considered to be a chill con proved to live up to that title! I haven't had a seriously chill con like this before. Sitting / laying around, yapping it up and joking around; hell it may have been lazy, but wow just having that kind of quality time with so many friends was really a treat for me. There wasn't any hurry to be to any events, there wasn't anything missed either. It all ran smoothly together from place to place, really.

In all, it was really special time for me. I could go on and on about it, but keeping it real, this con truly cemented the fact that I absolutely know some of the best people I could ever meet. I don't know how I was lucky enough to ever find the groups that I have, but I've never felt closer and have had more trust in each and every person I've grown to call a true friend of mine. I couldn't have asked for a better con experience, by any means. :)
