Merry Christmas to everyone! Hope y'all had some decent hauls this year, or had a good time with your folks! I'm workin' on getting the most of what I got this year, including FL STUDIO 11! ... Which has proven to be REALLY HARD to learn thus far. But whatever! I have it and I'm going to attempt to use it! Woo!
= - =OVER 9000 PAGEVIEWS
Posted 11 years ago= - = I am so immature, heh. I guess that little submission I made through me over the top when it came to pageviews. Course there's no Kiriban for that because, A) I wasn't planning on it, and B) I still feel I suck too much for it. :P Regardless, to those of you actually reading my ridiculousness, thanks for tuning in and watching me. I know I keep promising it, but hopefully there will be more stuff for y'all to watch in the future. I feel that I'm really close to overcoming that hump of being able do stuff fast and clean for you and any commissioners.
Speaking of, I'm currently NOT taking commissions (and definitely not requests) right now, simply because of me not feeling quite ready to deal with it. That and I don't have a proper Commission Pricelist posted up. Once I finalize that and that gets thrown up, then I'll officially be open for commissions. Which I definitely do need to start doing, but I don't want to sacrifice integrity and waste time on stuff if I'm not ready for it. But again, hopefully it comes in the future.

= - =Another Not-Dead-Yet Journal
Posted 11 years ago= - =Hey guys. Yeah... I'm still alive, sort of. School and work has been keeping me busy for the most part and, well, believe it or not, most of my free time has been spent drawing.
Unsurprisngly this may be... well, surprising to any watchers I still have left. But it's mostly because of my problem with finishing anything. I don't like the idea of just posting a bunch of unfinished sketches and half-done environments up on this page for you to stare at until god-knows-when. I've done too many of them to count, really, so much that I'd probably get in trouble if I were try and post them all to 'make up for lost time.
But really, there seems to be a lot of things that I'm struggling with as an artist. I mean... I know I'm getting better - at least that's what people I'm close to have been telling me - but I can't ever seem to focus on one thing through to the end. I usually start something, my energy peters out on it and I stop, and then I get a new idea and start something knew.
That or I might try to draw something for someone I know, but then it starts going off into an area where I feel that they're not going to like it, or I just have that 'they're not going to like it' doubt and I'm afraid to touch it again.
A lot of people have been telling me that I shouldn't be having those fears because of various reasons, probably ones that anyone reading this might come up with. But, I still keep having them. And there's no one around here physically to kick me in the ass for not posting anything or keep me working on a single thing, so... I feel like I'm stuck.
I don't really know what to say to all of you aside from I'm sorry. I feel like I've just let my watchers down for not having anything to show them. I even want to apologize to some of my friends and fellow artists and cool people out there because I feel that... everything has kept me from showing that I'm still around and still care and still think they're cool.
So... yeah. Kind of a depressed plea for forgiveness. And here's to hoping I can get out of this funk and press on.. and hopefully give you guys stuff to ogle.

Did they ever explain why Mewtwo is a girl? Did they ever explain if this was a different Mewtwo, since the flashbacks looked the same as old Mewtwo even though this is obviously a Mewtwo that didn't get the message that she should be okay with humans? Did they ever explain why Ash never seems to acknowledge that he met a Mewtwo before, since his last encounter resulted in him NOT forgetting that Mewtwo existed?
Did they ever explain why the setting was UNDENIABLY New York City?
... I know I'm over-analyzing the continuity of the Pokémon anime, but... seriously! My childhood is so confused!
= - =Note to Self:
Posted 12 years ago= - => DON'T draw any scan-worthy stuff on the back of paper with writing on it. Unless you plan on completely redoing the lineart on top of the original sketch, there's no way of getting rid of the backwards text that bleeds through.
> DON'T draw on the back of receipt paper. This is an extension of the above 'Don't' with the added issue of being small and difficult to store.
> DON'T scan anything without taking at least a little bit of time to clean up as much of the smudging as possible. They are a bitch to get out, even with Levels/Curves in Photoshop.
> DON'T stay up until 5:00AM if you have class at 8:00AM. It's no better than not sleeping at all; you are still going to feel like shit.
> DON'T be a dick. You've avoided doing that so far, but just remember. Don't. Be. A Dick.

Oh, yeah. By the way. I live.
So yeah, I have now idea if I've EVER MENTIONED THIS in my journals before, and I'm too tired go back through them and look right now, but I've been getting settled into my new routine at my NEW school for my NEW degree. Yeah, I used to be working on a music ed degree for the five years prior to this past summer. But now I'm currently at an art college in the area studying Computer Animation with emphasis on Game Art!
WOO. NOW WE'RE TALKING, BITCHES.
This new school is fantastic; all of the instructors are great and all of the classes that I've taken thus far have been amazing! (Except for the core classes; core classes suck.) And since I've finally gotten on track in a degree that I'm incredibly passion about, my parents have helped me a lot with accomplishing my endeavors. They provided me with a second laptop for school, a copy of Autodesk Maya, a copy of PHOTOSHOP CS6 (!) and a brand new INTUOS5!
I've had classes already at this new school on how to do certain things in Photoshop, though I'm still a bit antsy about doing some of my personal artwork digitally; my methods are still rough but I'm slowly trying to ween myself out of using pencils for everything.
= - =With that said, I'll probably be updating the information on commissions. ... Not that anyone is in a hurry to commission me.
*taps the commissions box, and watches a moth fly out* ;..;
I probably won't get to it until I've finished with
Ilkarin's sketch-commission, but I know I'll be switching prices around AND I'll be available to digital and color commissions again, as well as updating any of the sketches I've already done for people.I'll try to post some more of my own stuff soon; I've already filled a sketchbook over the course of the past year, so hopefully you'll be seeing more stuff you like.
Shutting up now! Toodles!

Usually I don't mind these layout changes; just weird things they do. But this one is proving to be particularly... special. Special in the sense that it's actually succeeding in pissing me off.
Don't know why, but now every vid that has an advertisement at the start - which is practically HALF the videos on YouTube - now won't play the ad at all! ... And therefore won't play the video because I can't suffer/skip through the ad! ...

Posted 13 years ago= - =Well, sort of. It's actually tomorrow, July 19th, but I'll be real busy tomorrow.
"Why are you gonna be busy, Avias?" you ask? (Of course not; no one cares to ask about that.) :P
Well, aside from having dinner at Benihana's tomorrow (woot!), I'll be busy with working on drawings as I have been all week. And not just any drawings, no. I've been working on the entrance drawings for the new art college I'm transferring to.
Yeah. ... I decided that instead of struggling to excited about my music education schooling, since I started it for a stupid reason, I decided to FINALLY work up the courage to pursue an education/career more suitable for my interests in artwork and animation. I'm currently set on transferring to Digital Media Arts College here in Boca, and I've got to finish four drawings for them by the weekend.
So, yeah. Happy Birthday to Me!
[Also, thanks Verace for gifting you Cave Story+. I just finished with the normal ending and it was hell'a fun!]

= - =Oh God, What a Horrid Nightmare
Posted 13 years ago= - =All I remember from it was that... it was like I was watching a YouTube clip all featuring a crap tone of horrific bloody images, some of which ran in reverse at high-speed so I couldn't make it out. But against my better judgement, because I happened to 'see' one 'cool horror image', I ended up slowly backing through the video in an attempt to find it.
The only things I can remember were the image itself - a red human face heavily shadowed with one solid fire-colored iris shining through like the glow from a cat's eye at night - as well as two of the real-speed clips: a woman in a nurse's going trodding and stumbling through a hotel room with a Cthulu-headcrab devouring her head and spurting blood on the floor, and a man walking out from the covers of an upturned bed like a zombie while his face blathered, distorted and and tore itself apart as it neared the camera. The rest was just lots of blood and exploding flesh.... I hope I don't remember more.
I woke up shaking with uneasy breath. ... Half and hour later I'm STILL shaking and breathing uneasily...
I'm the kind of person who can't go right back to sleep after having a nightmare. Waking up is like hitting the pause button on a horror movie, and going back to sleep is hitting play again. So now I'm up after having only three hours of sleep, praying that I go back to sleep soon.

Posted 13 years ago= - =Commission Information!
= - =$10.00 - Traditional Character Sketch
Additional Characters
Discount A.C.**
= - =[NOTE]:
>> My goal is to buy a Wacom Intuos4 Medium Pen Tablet (MSRP at $349.00).
>> Discounted Prices for Traditional Sketches (See Above)
>> What I will and will NOT draw remains the same.
>> Stuff that I will draw may be subject to the Adult Rating Charge pending on the content.
>> There are a total 35 Slots, however if more people are interested I'll keep going.
Also:
>>> As with most artists I work primarily with Character Reference Images - whether they're ref-sheets or just previously done artwork - and not text descriptions. Obviously text would be used for describing what's going on the pic, but please, don't say, 'Draw a fox sitting' or something. You know what'll happen. >:I
>>> I will do sequences, I am perfectly open to that. However each part of the sequence will count as one slot (which is the case with most artists I've come across.
>>> For the love of GOD, fuzzbuckets, READ and USE COMMON SENSE when commissioning. Don't beg for something that I've already said 'no' to, don't be trite or flaky, just... be good. Expect the same the same things to come from as from any other artist.
>>> I'll only accept payment AFTER the commission is finished, NOT BEFORE. Just good business, as they say. :)
= - =OPENING DISCOUNT SKETCH COMMISSIONS [P.1 - Situation]
Posted 13 years ago= - =So.... For those of you I normally talk to, you probably know why this journal is here. For those of you who don't, here's the deal:
My tablet is in the process of dying. I'll spare you all the details, but basically the connectivity of the USB jack has been deteriorating over the months to where it will refuse to connect at all. And from what I've been told that basically means that it's time to get a new one. I don't know how long this one's going to last, and I'm sick and tired of dealing with this thing, so I want to start saving up for a new one. I'm currently aiming for an Intuos4 Medium... problem is... I don't have the money and I'm still searching for a new job, since most of the money I did have went to classes.
However I still have a drawing hand, a pencil, and a scanner, so I can still do sketch commissions.
I know that I'm not very well-known and I don't expect much of a response, but I would like to mention that I'll be lowering/cutting some of the prices I've been using, which might hopefully attract support. They’ll be in P.2 of this journal. >..>
With these prices I figure that any pic with a single character will cost either $10, $15, $20, or $25 and that every subsequent character is an additional $2, $3, $4 or $5 respectively. Now, I hope that you all will be responsible in realizing that, even though I am chopping off A LOT of money for my pics, I'm not going to compromise as to what I will or will NOT draw. If you all promise to do that, I'll try my hardest to hold up my end and produce work in a timely fashion.
I'll have a total of thirty-five (35) slots open, since that's the maximum number I'll need in case everyone goes for the bare minimum price (35 Slots x $10 Sketches = New Tablet GET). However if there are more people interested I'll open up some more once these are finished. It won't be easy for me, but I'm sure the pay-off will be worth it; it usually is.
= - =Need Some Help Finding a Fantasy Corgi Comic
Posted 14 years agoOkay, so I came up with this interesting (and fairly depressing) scene for the main story I've been working on, drawing from a few inspirations. Two of these are Eric Whitacre's choral piece "Water Night and the scene from Lord of the Rings: Return of the King when Frodo leaves with Gandalf to the Undying Lands.
But the third inspiration that really lays on the sadness and heaviness draws from a certain comic that I was shown several months ago. I never copied the link anywhere, I don't remember what it was called, and I don't remember who wrote it.
All I remember is that was a VERY LONG series of somewhat crudely drawn images, and that the premise was simple yet deep. It follows a loyal corgi, who unknowingly passes away but stays loyal and fights away the demons of worry and doubt that plague his master. This guardian angel of a corgi is offered to be brought to heaven, but stays behind to make sure that his master stays happy free from all the demons. Eventually his master dies as well, and is reunited with the spirit of his corgi, only to realize that, while the master is obligated and fully capable of going to heaven, the corgi has made his choice to become earthbound and can not come with. In the end the corgi is left alone in the dark, sad that he is unable to be with his master any longer, but thankful that he served his purpose of being a good dog.
... God, just thinking about it makes me cry.
If anyone knows of this comic and knows where to find it, please tell me.
