The struggles of being a furry "artist"
Posted 4 years agoMy art tutor: "I want you to create a piece if great personal importance. Something that subtly projects who you are, and you're experience as a person who is living the truly unique experience that is the human condition, while having something of great importance to say about the world around you, and the many issues it faces."
Me: "Heh, fluffy wolf go awoooo!"

Oh, BTW, I forgot to mention
Posted 4 years agoYa boy no longer has Covid!
Okay, this isn't news at all, I got over it weeks ago, but I forgot to make a follow up to my last journal to conform I'm no longer positive with the virus.
My symptoms weren't that bad, just a blocked nose for a couple of days, that was it. And for the next ten days after that, I got back into playing Persona 5, so yeah, it wasn't ideal, but it wasn't horrible either.
So yeah, sorry for not updating sooner, but I'm feeling much better.

Guess what...
Posted 4 years agoYa boy got Corona.
I took a Covid test, and it came back positive, so I need to self isolate for 10 days.
It's funny, ever since lockdown began bacl in 2020, I haven't been ill once. Now my record is broken, and of course Coronavirus was the one to break it.
Oh well, I've had both my vaccines before I caught it, so I don't think it should be too bad. It still sucks having a blocked nose, but eh, what can you do?
Remember, people, always try to stay safe. Wear masks, use hand sanitiser, and keep your distsance.

Any tips for Smash Bros Ultimate?
Posted 4 years agoSince I got Smash Ultimate a few years ago, I mostly just played against CPU players, but I recently decided to play against other players online, and...
...every single match resulted in me getting my a$$ handed to me on a silver platter.
Legit, I've played 15 matches today, and I was first in every single one of them...as in I was the first to run out of stocks every single time.
It's kinda getting to me at this point that I suck so much at the game (yeah yeah yeah I'm a sore loser I know).
Does anyone have some advice on how to get better at Smash?

Guess who's having another art style crisis!
Posted 4 years agoK, so I was in the middle of drawing Legosi from Beastars in preparation for the season 2 dub coming out on Netflix this week, until I suddenly thought my style looked to static or amateurish. I dunno, I don't hate it by any means, but I'm not too sure about it now.
I definitely want to add some more flow and exaggeration to my style to make it look more toony, but how I'm going to do that, I don't know.
I don't want to rush myself to change my style, but I also want to keep drawing and uploading constantly.
I don't know, has anyone got any advice?

Happy Autism Acceptance Month!
Posted 4 years agoWere at the end of Autism Acceptance Month 2021, and during this month I wanted to post some art to commemorate it, but I just wasn't happy with anything I was making, so sadly I gave up.
But I still wanted to wish all of my neurodivergent pals on the spectrum a happy belated autism acceptance month!

So, I've been thinking...
Posted 4 years agoI've been thinking of creating a new main fursona for myself. Nebby will still be my main, but my other fursona will also be my secondary fursona. I was thinking about making it a panda bear, mainly because I feel like I relate to them alot.
I only have one concern though, that being if I commision a fursuit (which I still want to do), which character should I get commissioned?

I've been thinking about Nebby's design recently
Posted 4 years agoI'm fine with the design for the most part, but one area of the design has been on my mind for the past few days, specifically the ears.
As you've probably seen before (unless this is your first time seeing my profile, in which case, welcome!), Nebby's left ear has blue and purple stripes, while his right ear has purple dots, and it's always been that way since I first created him. But now I'm not so sure about the ears anymore.
I designed Nebby with the idea of standing out among other fursonas, and I wanted to make him look as unique as possible, and so I tried to incorporate as many patterns as possible to give of the idea that he was a plushie that was made out of various materials.
But recently I've considered changing the ears, as I'm beginning to think they look obnoxious. I think this part of Nebby's design is trying too hard to stand out and be unique, to the point that it looks tacky. I've considered replacing them with a tartan design, that way it will match the nose, but to do that I'll actually, y'know, learn how to draw tartan.
I dunno. I want to keep the same design I've had all these years since I first designed him, but I also think that the design is tacky.
What do you guys think?

Can anyone recommend some SFW artists?
Posted 4 years agoI want to discover more SFW artists on here, so I wanted to see if anyone can point me in the right direction. I know there's the SFW filter, but I want to follow artists who mainly (rather exclusively) draw SFW stuff. And no, "SFW" fetish content doesn't count. I just want to find some clean, non fetish related artists to follow on here. So, any ideas?
How can I regain my motivation to draw?
Posted 5 years agoI've been trying to get a drawing done for Christmas day, but so far I'm just not happy with my attempts at drawing it. It just keeps turning out wrong, and it's really demotivating to me. How can I regain my confidence to continue drawing?
Any tips for making a fursona puppet?
Posted 5 years agoI want to try and make a puppet of my fursona (Nebby), but I've never made a puppet before in my life.
My inspiration was Jim Henson, specifically the puppets from 'Between The Lions'. I want my puppet to be as expressive as possible, with a moving mouth, moveable eyelids and flexible eyebrows.
As for the body, I want to have one arm I can put my hand into, and one arm that's attached to the body so that there isn't a limp arm dangling around. I'd also like both arms the be able to attach to the body so I can switch between them.
And for the materials, I'd like the main body and gloves to be made of felt, and the hair to be made of fur.
Does anyone have any tips or ideas on how to build this puppet?

Am I worthless as a furry for not liking yiff?
Posted 5 years agoI'm the only furry I know who hates yiff, and how the definition of the fandom is porn. Am I a bad furry for not being horny? Am I a bad person for not liking furry porn? No one in the fandom likes me because of my SFW nature. Are furries like me useless? Do furries like me disgrace the fandom by going against the entire point of it? Do I deserve to get kicked out and mocked because I'm SFW? Do I have to draw porn to be validated/acknowledged in the fandom? These questions have been eating away at my mind for 6 years, and it's affected my mental health alot. I asked about seeking help and advice from professionals, but I still don't know what to do, or if I'll ever get over it. This is basically a vent journal, so if anything I say comes across as dumb or incoherent, I'm sorry, but I had to get my feelings out there.
Are there any psychologists I can talk to about furry stu...
Posted 5 years agoI know this question sounds bonkers, but I REALLY want to get some help. I struggle with autism and anxiety, along with potential depression and anger issues, and without going into detail, the furry community triggers some of these problems for me. Not all the time, but it happens frequently. I have a very strong love-hate relationship with furries and the furry community. On a good day, I love the community and love being a furry, and I enjoy the interactions I have with other members, but on a bad day, I can have mini panic attacks, I feel uncomfortable and angry towards myself and others, though I never express my anger to others. Again, I'd rather not go into details as to what triggers these feelings. I just wanted to ask if there are any specific types of psycologist, psychiatrist or therapist that could help me with my problems in person, not online. Any advice?
Do I have to be horny to be a furry?
Posted 5 years agoIt feels like the only way to make friends, to be popular and to be of any worth in this fandom is to be NSFW all of the time. When I first joined, I was led to believe that the fandom was for all ages, but now 99.9% of the fandom is about porn and kinks. So I just wanted to ask, if I'm uncormfortable with how horny and kinky everything is, and that I want all of my stuff to be SFW and appropriate for everyone, does that make me invalid as a furry? Does this make me a bad furry?
