mondomongerWhere to find my new stuff RE: FA Hack
General | Posted 9 years agoSo BLFC was quite a wild ride as usual including what's happened just after the event what with FA and it's source code. Am I leaving completely? no. I knew something like this would happen eventually tis why I don't have all my eggs in one basket.
For those still primarily cruising art on FA: My new home is here:
mondomonger
That's right. I'm a dragon now. If you need some explanation, see my previous journal here: http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/7531209/
Mondomonger and my older stuff on Axelroo are available on Weasyl and FurryNetwork under their respective names.
blowupnshowup will continue to run more actively on Weasyl
Pick yer site, you'll find me there.

Spreading My Wings (Important)
General | Posted 9 years agoIt's time to come forward and tell everyone watching what's going on.
First of all on FA, my new stuff is here

Axelroo will still be somewhat active especially while cleaning up the backlog and obligations I still have here. At some point though, it will just be an archive.
Axelroo from the very start almost 19 years ago, was something of a "personal furry". A being of which more reflected my real self in many ways as opposed to more whimsical characteristics. Its the fursona of choice that everyone is accustomed to and comfortable with but I've been debating with myself over the last couple years if there is any real point towards having a fursona that resembles myself too closely as compared to knowing me in person. The internet for better and for worse affords us the opportunity to be perceived as something we're not. To me, that's the fun of it to be honest so why not be something I really enjoy being: a balloon dragon(saur). Heck it's the same reason I love fursuiting and me; I either wear a whole suit or not at all. I can't begin to tell you how many times I've become associated with dragons throughout my entire time in the fandom from the FurryMUCK days till now (you guys know who you are). Seriously, this could end up as a 20 page essay. In short, for too many years, I've been gearing my fursona toward being approachable by nearly everyone but my real self IMO is just as approachable as is. It's time to dawn a fursona that honestly reflects my imagination. There are some friends and furiends whom will always call me Axel and that's just fine because they've known me that long and they've known me iRL long enough to know the part of me will never change.
So in brief, this is the "why" and if you want to see my newest stuff on FA, Weasyl, and Picarto. You'll find it under Mondomonger. Twitter and Telegram will allow you change handles so if you're already following me on there, Mondomonger should be there already.

A Bunch of Pricks (con't)
General | Posted 10 years agoIn late February, I was admitted to the hospital for seriously high blood sugar and blood pressure. Essentially, I was experiencing kidney failure and was put on an IV till both stats were down. 2 days after which around the same time I wrote part 1, I felt fantastic- good in ways I haven't felt in a long time. Scared straight, I was already eating a well-behaved diet, taking insulin, and watching my blood sugars like a hawk. It wasn't but a few days later I was already back under the weather. My calves, ankles, and feet swelled up again and my head was throbbing. I felt the same way as I did before being admitted to the hospital. Long story short is that the hospital made my blood sugar levels drop too fast when the body was used to having a high amount of glucose. A sharp drop can cause the blood vessels to dilate releasing lots of protein, plasma, and other body fluid to where gravity have the most effect: the feet. This condition is called Edema. The throbbing in my head was my blood pressure spiking to dangerous levels which is caused by my body trying to deal with Edema. I pretty much died to world over the last two weeks as my long work schedules were barely survivable. However, with some patience and pills the swelling is gone from my feet but Edema still hides out elsewhere in my legs. Still, things are slowly turning to normal as my body adapts to having regulars stats after who knows how long and with that, I have a little more energy each time. My blood pressure is still an issue and will be for some time. After constant 3x-daily testing, I found my pulse is NEVER below 90 even when just waking up. Turns out this is more than likely a family inheritance of thyroid problems could with the problems I'm already having. The not-terrible news is that once I've dealt with Edema and get my kidney function back on track, these thyroid issues are super easily treatable. I look forward to that day.
In the meantime, my concern is finishing a commissioned suit design and a prize badge before the next BLFC but Edema right now prevents me from sitting down in chair normally for more than an hour at a time. I hope to be over it soon.
I meantime, I want everyone to be reminded that no one is safe from this epidemic. The number of people newly diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes is EXPLODING. There is no longer any such things as too young, old, slim, or healthy looking to have diabetes. More than a year ago, an 8 year old was having a random check by his pediatric. His blood sugar level was 1000! That's easily enough to kill if it wasn't for his youth. A man a couple cities away from me, at the age of 31 had to have leg amputated! He weighs only 190- much less now. This mine field at the super market is coming to a head. Food is marketed and distributed like cigarettes, to be available and addicting as possible. Multiple complaints have been popping up all over the place as more parents are finding incredible amounts and sugar and salt in even the so-marked Healthy baby food. You wouldn't put that much crud in a small child's food unless you were trying to get them addicted from the very start of their lives. Its soooo easy to reach for whats right there in front of you at the mini mart or check out line but its a machine that is cranked into overdrive and at some point, the body just can't keep up. In the 80's and 90's, we were told you had to be over weight or over a certain age to possibly have diabetes. No! It's well after young kids and otherwise healthy adults. Healthy food is still overly laden with salt, sugar, and carbs especially breads.
Please, take some time to turn the package over and see whats really in the items you're about to purchase and check in with that blood pressure machine you see in the drug store from time to time, if you're constantly over 130/80, its a good sign to get checked by a physician.

A Bunch of Pricks (Life)
General | Posted 10 years agoSo Wednesday of last week. I looked at my feet and ankles and they were swollen. On top of other symptoms, the internet was kind enough to inform me that this could be something serious among other things not so serious but a little voice in my head told me to see the ER. It was kidney failure along with instant hospitalization. Don't worry, I got lucky and my kidneys bounced back but hooooboy do I have to be careful from now on and yeah, I now have to inject insulin into myself using these new "pens" which work way better than syringes. It took little more than 30 seconds doing it for the first time. I haven't recovered all my strength yet but I'm good enough to go to work. Hope to be fully back to life soon. Stay tuned.
Dragons Dragons Dragons
General | Posted 10 years agoNot a complaint so much as what I've noticed and a big thanks as well. I've just noticed the big response towards big fat balloon dragons I've done and that's quite encouraging. The hardest part really is shaping their bodies but as I get better, you'll see more of this.
Looking to Commission Fursuit
General | Posted 10 years agoHey guys. I need your help. As opposed to more than a decade ago where there were only a few fursuit creators, the field has exploded with talent. Quite a good problem to have actually but now I'm lost in the maze and even these springy feet can't keep up. I'm looking for a good toony fursuit creator for a partial I can casually wear around cons - maybe go full body. I need your suggestions OR if you are a creator, PLEASE feel free to advertise yourself unabashed. Seriously, I'm curious as to what all you talents are bringing to the table.
Looking for a RoomShare for FC
General | Posted 10 years agoI'd like to attend from Friday Morning to Monday Morning. All I'm missing is a place to stay. Any of the hotels will do. I do not smoke, heavily drink, or snore. My fursuit, essentials, and clothes are all in one tidy box.
Generation 4 & BnS Season 2 & The Future FAQ
General | Posted 10 years agoPhew. We're almost at the end of another year and one thing is for sure: change. For better or for worse, things will change like it or not. I'm hoping the area of art has changed for the better but I think it time to announce to Generation 4.
Generation 1: Crude modeling in Sculptris - Yeah I started with Pixologics watered down but very usable Sculptris. Everything sculpted and textured on dry.
Generation 2: Scruptris with a side of Blender. Things were still largely modeled in Sculptris but i started adding eyes and texture effects in Blender. Also start some basic rigging and animation.
Generation 3: The path to purity. Almost everything done in Blender but I still hadn't wrapped my mind around topology and the need for better edge loops. Still had trouble with lighting and still shy of learning Cycles
Generation 4: Most Everything Cycles. Much cleaner topology (Useful for importing to OpenSim/SL), Custom Material Textures (and I've only touched 5% of the "Material Cookbook"). SketchFab for interactive model previews (seriously FA or Weasyl needs to be able to embed this). And hours upon hours playing with lighting sets up and material nodes. It's only going to get better as I discover what works.
BlowUp N' ShowUps page is starting grow cobwebs which is a perfect indicator to start getting those old models spruced up and imported to SketchFab ultimately giving the FA and Weasyl page a new coat of paint along with the new Season 2 Inflatable Fursuit designs. I also plan to import the current designs into Littlefield Grid for use and fun.
The Future FAQ:
Q: Are you leaving TigerDile?
A: No but I am hanging out in more places and just TigerDile now. The reason being that artists of a same type learn from each other but I am (at the time of this writing) the only 3D modeler on Tigerdile and I admit, I gets lonely. After meeting other 3D modelers on Picarto however, I don't feel quite to isolated anymore so where I'll stream depends on which community its for. I have longtime friends on Tigerdile and if its a general piece of work, Ill stream there. If its for the squeaky pooltoy people and balloon furries, it's likely Picarto.
Q: Why aren't you Fursuiting at Events and Conventions like you used to.
A: Well rest assured I still do Fursuiting and Mascots at public events and for non-profit. In fact, that's partially where the problem lies. I have 5 suits total (about to be 7) but 4 of which are copyrighted characters are a hit with these public events but I'd rather not risk getting them associated with furries at conventions for the same reasons that the Oklacon and Rainfurrest attendees and administration are on their toes. It only takes one fureak in the event to wind up on the news and then wrangled into the public eye aka: guilty by association.
I only have one suit I freely use at conventions and.... he's getting old. Once I have a unique suit which isn't a copyrighted character, you can be sure I'll be up to my old antics.
Is your BlowUp N' ShowUp page a gallery of actual suits? Where do I get them?
BlowUp and ShowUp is just fursuit and inflatable fursuit design only. The 1st season designes already in the gallery are concepts which can be manufactured through Scaleworx.org (you'll see my stuff in their Reference Art). Takumori of Scaleworx is the one you'll want to talk to for getting any one of these designs manufactured into an actual suit.
More about BnS will be posted from
blowupnshowup where more will be explained about the current state of inflatable fursuits as a business in general. Again, I only play one part in outward design but there is more you should know as potential informed participant or customer.
That's all for this update. Thanks for dropping by and taking the time to read.

Where's an AxelRoo
General | Posted 10 years agoI'm here, kind of.
Starting the weekend before last just after Furlandia, I had developed a "bump" near by tailbone on my buttox. I thought it was just a boil so I soaked it and what not but then it grew fast and painful - like sharp rock under your skin. Last Tuesday was unbearable and i had to see the clinic whom put me on a regiment of antibiotics and to come back next Monday to give it a small slice to help it drain. Monday came around, the bump was cut but it was not a boil and very little fluid came out. It's something else. The surgeon will see me Friday to find out what it is. I'm thinking it's either a limpoma or a cyst since those run in the family. Either way I've just been in and out of pain as well as the clinic. I'm looking forward towards feeling completely normal again. I'm feeling decently okay at the moment and I hope it stays that way till I'm seen again.

The Big BLFC Report
General | Posted 10 years agoThe first part might be a lie because I tried to go into too much detail, I'd never get done.
BLFC is the best. If I could only go to one convention in a year, I'd drop everything including FC just to go to BLFC. Let's face it, the Grand Sierra Resort as something almost every other convention lacks: Space! Even the dealers den had plenty of space at the center for a volley ball court, tables, and big props to play around with, and most importantly, great ventilation for those in fursuit. Most other con risk the danger of heat stroke should one dare to enter the dealers den in suit- not here.
It was a rough start as I flew in on Wednesday and arrived at one- they lost my luggage. I had a hard time holding back some F-Bombs while i provided my information for my baggage claim. If I could be sure anyone who would have handled my bag also worked for airline, I'd have felt a bit more confident but if someone per say a TSA agent was goofing around with it, that bag could be anywhere. Luckily that was not the case and I had my bag the next day in the evening just in time for the festives to begin.
It got even better when I got an invitation to wear
deezlberries' suit for a couple hours. Thank you both
deezlberries and
redxix
squic captured a nice clip of some of my professional news casting action which you can watch on Youtube here:
https://youtu.be/tByck4WyL8c
Those two hours were the best having the honor of wearing a suit from a creative individual I've admired much of my furry life. Thanks, again Deezl. You've no idea how much I've fan-boy-freaked-out when I got the word.
Yeah, I did gamble as I'm used to playing slots at the Casino's near where I live. At first, it was $60 quickly down the drain. It seems the slots where set to "SUCK" mode on Wednesday and I was still irate from having a missing bag at the airline. It got better as the weekend progressed however.
kijanilion had a panel on Friday on how to play some of the table games at Casino's including Blackjack and Craps. The following Sunday, got all my money and some. I'd say me and the Casino broke even but it was hella' fun especially playing at the craps table discussing strategy with other furries and sometimes random strangers.
I made good use of the business center to print badges for
tristanthehusky and
squic making good friends with lonely lady running the business center solo over the weekend. She was so excited about all the activity going on in the hallway just outside so I had it a point to visit her in suit so she could get pictures. Obviously she was the wife of one of the Casino's security guard as one pulled me aside to thank me for doing that. Dawww.
All in all, it was a rough start but it got better real fast and I mellowed out real good. So mellow, that a lot of my art stamina is replenished and I'm looking forward to what I'll experience at a smaller con next weekend. Furlania, here I come.

Thank you both
deezlberries and
redxix
squic captured a nice clip of some of my professional news casting action which you can watch on Youtube here: https://youtu.be/tByck4WyL8c
I'd say me and the Casino broke even but it was hella' fun especially playing at the craps table discussing strategy with other furries and sometimes random strangers.I made good use of the business center to print badges for
tristanthehusky and
squic making good friends with lonely lady running the business center solo over the weekend. She was so excited about all the activity going on in the hallway just outside so I had it a point to visit her in suit so she could get pictures. Obviously she was the wife of one of the Casino's security guard as one pulled me aside to thank me for doing that. Dawww.All in all, it was a rough start but it got better real fast and I mellowed out real good. So mellow, that a lot of my art stamina is replenished and I'm looking forward to what I'll experience at a smaller con next weekend. Furlania, here I come.
Learning to Box (Model)
General | Posted 10 years agoOnce upon a time there was a roo who learned how to make 3D objects. He used what he learned to make cute things including suit concepts and things were going well. Then one day, the roo learned there were better ways and that all this time he was doing 3D sculpting and not modeling. With a hankering to increase quality, he dawned his gloves once again to learn once again how to box (model). Not to become the best but simply better.

IM Uncomfortable With IMVU
General | Posted 10 years agoIt's one then when a site like this is run by a bunch of guys you hardly know with a bunch of donations from people you hardly know and its another when now its a company or corp you don't know at all. Deals like this are not made for no reason or to serve no purpose and just let this site be. There is a plan and there is a change coming be it visible or not. There are too many conversations under the table and behind closed doors - I'm naturally a wary creature so you can bet I'm apprehensive.
I'm on SketchFab. See My Art How It Was Meant to be Seen!
General | Posted 11 years agoHey you! Are you getting tired of seeing stills or simple turning animation videos. Do you want to see over every square inch from every angle and possibly finding some of my mistakes and shortcuts? We now you can enjoy my work and/or mortify me in the way it was meant to be.
I am on Sketchfab! It's an FA/DeviantArt- like site for 3D Modelers and Animators like me. Drag around with your mouse to see models from every angle possible. Now you can see it all. Jump on over here and rotate till you're motion sick:

FC the Review and other thoughts
General | Posted 11 years agoWhat can I say? FC has been a tradition for years now so there is a lot about that isn't new. Often I look forward to the trip ridding down with Flinters and company but only this time, I was fighting tooth and claw not to get sick like last time and for the most of it I did. I had only had minor coughing and sniffles as compared to a full on flu that did me in last year- never again. I came prepared with ear plugs and NyQuil to help knock me out each night both at the con and during the trip and it worked very well. Windscar and Singha were both gracious and their private photoshoots were no bother- fascinating even.
High Points:
The Trip To/From: I have to be honest, just the time riding down with Flinters and whomever comes with is something I look forward to. This year was with Squic, Tyrnn (my roommate), and Tibo, with Flinters at the wheel per usual. I'll be a honest, I'm a Night Owl and because of my work schedule, I don't get to talk with these individuals very often so its great to reconnect.
Thursday: Getting my Tigerdile Jersey from BrooklynX. I loved it and it greatly helped other people identify me. Over the course of the con, I had 3 strangers (now acquaintances) pull me aside to give kind feedback about my art and BlowUp N' ShowUp. Seriously, I have never before gotten feedback in person about my art. Having anything of a fan is new to me but then again I'm a new artist still.
Sunday (Aka: My Birthday): Yeah.... Friday and Saturday were..... bland. It's not to say nothing happened but rather it's just what I expected of Furcon, the same panels, the same events, prioritizing which panels or events to attend but almost nothing except for the kind feedback mentioned previously, was memorable. So onto Sunday. I virtually spend every birthday at Furcon which is awesome but a problem as well because me and my dad have the same birthday (Jan 18th) and I know deep down they want to at least spend that day together one of these years and I hope it happens. Anyway, I had hopes for this day too because there are always a couple folks whom I would to have a conversation or interaction with before likely I won't see them for another year at least. It's always a bit stressful knowing this is your last day of the con and haven't seen a sign of any them this whole time. It weasn't till late afternoon that everything started turning awesome. I randomly go to visit the pool and behold: Shinden, JacFox, Cupric, and Acru we're playing in the pool and recognized me right away. After taking care of some photoshoot business, I grabbed my trunks and hopped in the pool. It was about 2 good hours of fun and I couldn't he happier just to goof around with these folks. I wish the lot of them a swell time as they move over to Indiana.
There was still one item on my list. It was someone I wanted to meet before he goes back across the pond as we commonly say. I don't like to admit that I have "rockstars" in my life as I feel it kind of sheepish and in way, reminds how I was when I was first in the fandom (like many starting out, super awkward). It was nightfall in the last hours before I had to sleep and leave early in the morning back home. I knew he was here but I also knew, he likes to suit and share suits with others so there was no guarantee that If saw one of his suits that it was actually him inside.. Anyway, I decided to give it one last shut but this time, I would dawn the guise of the new Heyyoo Bunny suit I remade and hang out in the headless lounge and the rest was history. He was there talking with Rubbertex outside behind the lounge. Yes, Deezleberries is one of those "Rockstars" in my life. One of these kind when the day, I saw him watching me back on FA, I had to use both hands to stifle my "OMG! OMG! OMG! OMG!" freakouts. He is someone who has been in CG industry but also uses his skills in suit-making which is a huge inspiration to what I do now with BlowUp N' ShowUp. Just an hour back and forth on various subjects was more than I could ask for and greatly outshined Friday and Saturday. I was satisfied.
Overall, Furcon was still good despite being well, Furcon. Its predictable which at this point works against its favor but now I have an idea of what I can do to get more out of it next time. I wan't to get Ballooonatic, the mascot of BnS made to wear him around during the down times of the con. Having fun while promoting what I do would definitely pick the mood up. At the very least, I wan't get a hockey jersey made for BnS as the Tigerdile one surely made a big difference in allowing people to find me.
We'll it back to the grind but having these projects gives me the spark to get stuff organized and/or clean- heck, my car hasn't looked so clean in the such a long while- the apartment is next. Thanks to all who pulled me aside for the kind works. It fills up the empty paranoish space that was formerly silence. It makes a big difference having some kind of reassurance.

General | Posted 11 years agoWHEEL -- OF -- WATCHERS!
Hey hey hey and Ho Ho Ho. We're still in the season of giving and give I shall. Great tidings unto you, a promise kept from the Thanksgiving season. 3 more spins to supplement the now-past Christmas holiday.
For those of you new here, some rules:
1. Sit back
2. Relax
3. If you're watching on FA (which you likely are if you're reading this), you're already registered to win
Right in front of me, is the Grand Ol' Wheel of Watchers with every watchers name on it. 3 spins will be done and for each winner, an art piece done in CG. However, in the tradition of surprises here on the Wheel of Watchers, you won't know who won until the art is done.
Alrighty, lets see who and what species occupies the Winner's Circle:
*pulls the wheel back a couple ticks*
WhhhhiRRRRRRRRRRrRrRrRrRrrRrrrrrrdrdrdrdrdrddrtctctctctcticaticaticatickatick tick tick tick tick
Ooooooooh, more fresh n local. Okay, as per the usual, here is your clue:
"Good thing this isn't a corporate character or SEGA would have a field day in court"
If that isn't enough to go on, well stay tuned because the truth will be revealed when we come back.

Some Downtime Late December/Early January
General | Posted 11 years agoThere are some projects on the table including a BnS commission and the Wheel of Watchers. Just beware there might be some interruption in the regular schedule as I need to go down at least for a day to undergo more eye surgery. It's not going to be quite as much as last time but it always results in a mountainous ice-cream headache that's debilitating and something it can change my vision to which I may need new lenses. So if I'm a little quiet around that time, it's probably because I can't look at the screen.
Our first Wheel of Watchers winner is underway but I have been a little distracted by some of the new features in Blender 2.72. I found some neat shiny new ways to do eyes. There are so many new things I had to order a book off Amazon to go over them all but so far.... It's kind of like Chrismas for Blender users and I'm happy toddler.
