Question for the "OLD GUARD" & "GREY-MUZZLES" about FURRY...
Posted 2 months agoSo, for "Grey-Muzzle" I'm going with the people that are 30-35 and above, even though I usually consider someone a grey-muzzle in the 90s and early 2000s sense, which was usually about 40-45 and up.
So, the question(s) for you is:
Has the furry fandom, in general, gotten better or worse over the years? Got any stories to share?
Are you connecting with more people in the fandom, or are you finding it harder and harder?
Do you feel like you can talk about pretty much anything with randoms in the fandom, such as just "hanging out", or do you feel you have to be a lot more "guarded"?
Have you noticed, in general, if people have been more or less social? And I mean holding conversations and chatting or posting journals and comments, not just the occasional "hi" or "buy my YCH" or favoriting and such?
Do you think there is a lack of new "anthro cartoon fans" in the fandom, and more "I'm doing it because it seems strange (in a good way)" types?
Personally, I think it has become worse as it has become bigger and more spread out.
Hear me out...
I've been in it since the late 1990s, and it was very "live and let live" and "agree to disagree" and had very diverse people in it, race, religions, creeds, politics, and so on... sure, it's always had cliques and drama, but that drama was usually some local garbage in real life.
Furry was very "libertarian" and even "punk".
Then, around the advent of social media like 2005 or so, it exploded in popularity, but then with the advent of Patreon and the likes, got more and more cordoned off and "exclusive" with a lot of little pay-2-play furry "clubs", then it got more "political"... not as in like "left vs right" but more "with-us-or-against-us" type mindset instead of "agree to disagree", people started embracing "cancel culture" and "censorship" ((Left AND Right)), and now "furry" seems to be treated more like a business in many places.
What I mean is, things like personal journals and blogs and the likes with people sharing thoughts and opinions and such started vanishing and getting replaced by "BUY MY YCH!" and "I'M TAKING COMMISSIONS!" and "PAY ME A MONTHLY FEE FOR ART YOU HAVE NO CHOICE OF" or the "furry scammers" that promise to deliver something like a game or animation if you subscribe to them only to milk their fans for every dollar possible and deliver constant excuses as to why they can't.
It's like the personality of furry got replaced with people trying to make money from furry because of the internet stereotype that furries are "SUSPICIOUSLY RICH" or "All working in tech". *chuckles*
I see people have gotten more "quiet" about any sort of opinions, and a lot of art has become more tame/homogeneous for the "fear" of "possibly offending" someone, even if that thing is harmless...
Hell, maybe that could even come from the lack of good ANTHRO-CARTOONS for people to grow up with these days?
And then the usual whatever-flavor-of-the-week "furry drama" happening that makes people "virtue signal about leaving" or their apparent "want" to be on the "ground floor" of whatever "new" social media or furry site pops up, thinking "there won't be furry drama at NEW PLACE, right?" before that new thing ultimately fails or becomes overly dramatic, then fractures the fandom more and more as people burn bridges or change personas or never come back.
The fandom is also getting A LOT "younger", like it was "almost" unheard of to see anyone under 16 in person at furry meetups the 90s and early 2000s, now you've got people bringing their single-digit-aged kids to conventions with people in full-on fetish gear and kink shit at the same time, and it just got uncomfortable for me when a lot of conventions went for the "all ages" approach to try and make "the most money", when a rather big portion of people going there are doing it for sex, drugs, and booze ((and don't pretend like it isn't, this has been one of the only constants of the furry fandom ^_^)).
I LOVE the adult side of the fandom, I just don't think kids should be around that, and that cons need to strictly be family-friendly or adult-only (and I don't mean fucking on the dance floor, I just mean only people 18-21+ depending on if there is a bar or not).
I think the worst thing for furry, in general, has been furs jumping onto mainstream "normie" social media to "chase the likes and followers" ((which are often bots)), it's been so toxic for the fandom when those social media sites are just not set up to be "art friendly" let alone "furry friendly" and made more for emotional manipulation and giving people that psychologically addictive "slot machine" feeling of "scrolling for gold".
So, what I am saying is: over the years, between cancel culture ((From the LEFT and RIGHT)), censorship ((be it from within the fandom or outside forces like social media or stupid laws)), monetizing the fandom, pushing it into "normie" spaces, and people constantly fracturing off and leaving the bigger furry spaces, it has definitely become a lot less diverse, less open, and less accepting and is starting to get what I'm calling "human-washed" as the censorship often comes after things like adult art, digitigrade characters, sheaths, quads, toony characters, so on and so forth.
I still love the fandom, but to me, it has felt less social and less "free" as more time goes on.
Also, as a funny side note.... With "The Bad Guys 2" and "Zootopia 2" coming out this year, we are about to see a massive influx of new-furs. *chuckles*

They now "preemptively" turn off the power for a lot of people if it gets any more windy than 15mph in certain areas, basically causing a lot of people to suddenly fear " slightly breezy" days because the power company refuses to eat the cost of burying power lines in high-risk areas.
I hate this freaking state!
The majority "Democrat Establishment Party" government says they "Care about the environment" but then seem to ACTIVELY DESTROY THE ENVIRONMENT WHENEVER THEY CAN!
It is like they are doing it on purpose just so they can have something to "fight" and get stupid people to keep voting for them.
They NEVER WANT TO FIX THE PROBLEMS because then they can keep campaigning on "trying to fix" the problems. Homelessness, price gouging and inflation, housing costs, rent costs, fires, drought and so on.
Gross governmental mismanagement of forests and refusal to build new reservoirs or even fill the ones already there, all while allowing power companies to have legal "local monopolies" as the "CEO" of SCE at EDISON INTERNATIONAL is paid over $3.1MILLION DOLLARS A YEAR!
They also constantly want to raise power costs to consumers by over 10% every year, and the so-called "liberal' and "progressive" California government almost always allows it (especially when they get direct kickbacks and stock options).
This same state wants to outlaw gas and diesel vehicles, and even the gas or diesel GENERATORS that are needed in blackouts by 2030, while doing nothing to make power more stable or reliable or affordable, all so Gavin Newsom can run as the "establishment" Democrat for puppet/president in 2028 by pretending he "Cares about muh environment", while in reality doing more to hurt the environment than help it.
They are trying to mandate "ZERO EMISSION GENERATORS" which... Don't fucking exist!
A fueled generator is used when electricity is hard to get, meaning even battery walls/banks need to be supplemented by gas or diesel generators to keep charged in extended blackouts because solar or wind power is either too expensive or not allowed in certain cities/ordinances in this so-called "liberal" and "progressive" state.
This is so hypocritical in a state that likes to brag about how "progressive" and "liberal" it is, while doing janky "corporate bullshit" that Republican conservatives did back in the 1990s/2000s.
Though it was pretty hilarious to see a bunch of overly rich Tesla and Lucid and Rivian electric vehicle owners all stranded at a local mall when the massive black-soot-spewing semi-truck-sized diesel generators needed to charge their "environmentally friendly" cars in a planned blackout broke down leaving them with no place to charge within 15 miles, and then causing day-long waits to charge at the few tesla stations 15 miles away.
The future's so dark, I gotta wear Night Vision Goggles! *facepalm*

The new "Indiana Jones: The Great Circle" game is amazing...
Posted 10 months agoI absolutely LOVE the original 3 Indiana Jones movies... They were a big part of my childhood.
And this "Great Circle" game that just came out a week ago may be one of the best movie-series-based games ever made!
If you are a fan of the original 3 Indiana Jones movies, then you will love this game, if your PC can handle it.
This game is BETTER than the most recent Indiana Jones movies and feels like a true fourth that complements the original three GOOD movies!
Troy Baker plays a perfect Harrison Ford in voice and facial mo-cap for cutscenes, and I HOPE this game is the first in a series!
At a game awards show, Harrison Ford said he was jealous at how well Troy Baker played Indiana to the point he said he would have done it himself had he known Troy would do his character so well.
They got John Williams to do the music theming and Gordy Haab to do the direction true to the original movies.
It's like a mix of Thief, Hitman, Farcry, Some puzzle games, and a brawler that sometimes turns into a first-person-shooter where you get to punch or shoot not only Nazis, but Italian Fascists as well, and the only thing that would make it better is if you could punch some commies too. *chuckles*
Other than the Voice work and level design and gameplay, theWRITING is SPOT-ON for an Indiana Jones Game with jokes, and comedic situations that truly mirror what would be expected in the movies.

"STAR TREK: PRODIGY" Is proper Star Trek! "VOYAGER 2"
Posted 12 months agoJust finished watching the 3D Animated "Star Trek: Prodigy" show, which I thought was going to be a typical "lights and colors" kid's show, and after a few episodes, I was pleasantly surprised it became proper Star Trek, and eventually led to a reuniting of many Voyager Alumni as main characters with their actors reprising their roles, like Janeway and The Doctor.
It has a very "Star Wars Clone Wars" animation style, and the writing stays true to TNG era Star Trek, along with the occasional references to other Trek, even referring to "Lower Decks" in one episode.
The first season has some good character development and relationship building and fun adventure, and the second season becomes absolutely EPIC!
Don't know if it will get a 3rd season, but the 2nd season ends in a way that it doesn't leave a bunch of unanswered questions. So it's good to watch knowing it won't just end in the middle of something while still leaving it open for possible renewal.
Kate Mulgrew "Janeway", Robert Picardo "The EMH Doctor", and Robert Beltran "Chakotay" all want to do a 3rd season, but right now Netflix owns the rights to Star Trek Prodigy and I really hope they keep it going.
Anyway, if you are a TNG era, and especially Voyager fan, it is DEFINITELY worth watching.

The days last too long, meaning all the annoying boomers, screaming kids, and other shit are all out till 8-9pm and causing more annoyances than usual...
Everything seems to break or go wrong in the summer heat...
Everything gets more expensive...

I never liked summer when I was a kid either. "Here's all this time off from school, but it's all bullshit and too hot outside! Enjoy the heatstroke!"
It's just freaking draining and killing my creative and horny drive. I really want to work on my stories but I don't want them to be "meh" or half-ass.
I can't wait for the windy fall days when it gets dark out at 5pm and no one wants to go outside because "weather exists".... Things seem so much more alive and energizing for me during the fall and winter and even the rainy part of spring.
But summer?

Would LOVE to find any other gay furry erotica writers out there.
I RP/ERP mainly on Discord and am always looking for inspiration and other decently literate roleplayers.
I know people have outside lives, but please no "ghosters".
If it is going to take more than a week between posts, please have the manners and courtesy to let me know you may take a freakishly long time to make a single post.
As for me I can easily hit and go over the standard Discord character limit in a single post and will usually respond within 1-3 days, sometimes multiple a day if I have the time, and will let you know beforehand if it may take longer to respond or if I'm taking a break. ^_^
I think DIscord's character limit for a post is 2000 or 2500 characters. With good descriptive roleplayers, my average post size is something around the 2000-3000 character mark and only sometimes falling under that if I don't have enough to respond to. I can do single paragraph RP of at least 6 sentences, but that's about as low as I will go.

I think DIscord's character limit for a post is 2000 or 2500 characters. With good descriptive roleplayers, my average post size is something around the 2000-3000 character mark and only sometimes falling under that if I don't have enough to respond to. I can do single paragraph RP of at least 6 sentences, but that's about as low as I will go.

I'm starting to realize that FURAFFINITY IS TERRIBLE FOR STORIES!
Not only is there a submission CHARACTER LIMIT, and a forced left-justified format that has problems with first-line-indents, and a VERY limited amount of TAGGING... but I have to start posting the story info thumbnail as ART to be able to get a thumbnail that is bigger than a literal thumbnail, which means I can't also have a downloadable text or rtf file for the story. >.<
Furaffinity DESPERATELY needs an update to MODERN internet standards... this was fine back in 2005, but not now.

Well, other than it is almost impossible to find semi-literate people who can role-play in a third-person perspective and can do semi-to-full-paragraph RP or ERP. At the very least 3–4+ sentences per post.
There are not a lot of people who realize "Dom on Dom" sex and relationships are totally normal and regular.
Even on f-list, there is no Dom/Dom kink to choose from.
There seems to be this idea that dominant means "ONLY TOP" sexually.
When one can be dominant AND top or bottom or versatile.
Just because someone is on the bottom or "receiving" does NOT mean they are automatically a "submissive".
Or the idea that all Doms are mean, psychopathic, sex monsters that just want to violently dump their load and move on.
What used to be "cuddling after sex" is now "aftercare," and it is turning into a bigger and bigger fetish because so many people have this idea that dominant men are pump-and-dumper tops that just "fuck and leave".

OMG! STARFIELD is taking over my life!

I was expecting it to be over-hyped and under delivered, or a massive letdown like CYBERPUNK 2077 was... But holy crap! It is so much more than I even thought.
Sure there are a few nit-picky things, but bug wise it barely has any other than the rare non game breaking kind... And I mean rare. I think people sleeping funny, and the occasional random object in some tightly packed area having a physics-freakout is about all I have noticed... And once in over 60 hours of gameplay my ship vanished, but I just had to fast travel and it was back.
This game continuiosly gets better as I play it... I have had random side missions end up turning into some epic story arc that felt like end game content in any other game just to be a side quest in this one!
It has all kinds of little references from Star Trek, Star Wars, The 5th Element, Bladerunner, Battlestar Galactica... This game is a Science Ficton RPG lover's nerdgasm.
I've managed to get 70 hours into the game and have still only done 4 main missions. I have not played a video game this all-encompassing in ages.
The Scope is immense, and with some polishing and future support, let alone mods, this game is going to be genre defining.
I love the retro-futuristic "NASA-punk" style, you have super advanced spaceships that are modular and can fold space (yes you can customize your ships and have your very own space Winnebago with wings), while consoles and computers with blinky lights and buttons and the sound of old mechanical harddrives and such is everywhere.
I was expecting a bugfest that would need years of modders fixing only to play the game without a single crash and keep forgetting it is a Bethesda game from how amazingly good it looks, and the amazing amount of good writing, voice acting, gameplay/gunplay, having options to be a good guy, bad guy, puckish rogue, corporate whore, diplomat, pirate, or murder hobo.
I still have not built an outpost or even been to the 4th main city! I keep getting side-tracked by the mountains of well written side-quests. *chuckles*

As mentioned in the last journal I made, THIS EXACT REASON is why you shouldn't have all your art in only one place. Your entire internet presence and gallery could be destroyed with a single policy change, this includes places like TWITTER as well.

Seeing a bunch of journals from a lot of the more TOONY artists saying that FA is coming after smaller characters, or chibi, or young "looking" characters, or zootopia sized (like Finnik), or any "young looking" characters, even TWINKS, because of some stupid new rule change.

"Strange New Worlds" Feels like ACTUAL Star Trek!!!

It actually feels like Roddenberry Star Trek!
Not "Nu-Trek" not "J.J. Lens Flare Star Wars-Trek"...
But actual TOS and TNG faithful Trek!
Even the opening title and score is a throwback to a mix of TOS and TNG era trek.
I grew up with TNG when there were still new episodes every week. And saw all the TOS movies (even before I saw the actual series). I loved Voyager (Screw the haters, Janeway was awesome!) and Deep Space 9 (Sisko punched Q) and even Enterprise (Quantum Leaping over the terrible opening title song)... Hell, in High School I often got in trouble for reading Star Trek extended universe books.
I even finally got into TOS and The Animated series in my 20s.
And I loved them all.
Then the worlds biggest "Anti-Nerd" J.J. Abrams managed to not only ruin Star Wars, but Star Trek as well, and it has all been off-road, upside down, and over a cliff since then with the likes of the recent movies and shows like Discovery and Picard being too dark, gritty, "edgy", and pointlessly retconning.
Now with Strange New Worlds, sure it has more modern set design and CGI (The captain's quarters are gorgeous!), bit it also has the writing and acting, and most important, the OPTIMISM that TOS and TNG were known for!
It's even got some of the campiness and humor that TOS is more known for.
It's not all dark and gritty and "FUCK YOU! Everything is terrible, always has been terrible, and will never get better!". It has actual bright colors, some TOS easter eggs and set design.
The peopel that made this show are Trek lovers.
Also the ships in SNW don't run on space mushrooms and eight-legged trans-dimensional pigs.
It has actual optimism and does like TOS and TNG did where we overcame and leaned from the bullshit of the past to have a brighter future.
I actually got a bit teary a few episodes in, not because it was a sad episode or anything like that (even though one or two hit me in the feels), no, it was like I finally found something that isn't suffering from terrible "millennial writing" or trying to be "hip and edgy".
If you are a fan of TOS and TNG and not a big fan of the J.J. or "Nu-Trek" stuff, you have GOT to see "Star Trek: Strange New Worlds".
Man I really wish we still had 22+ episode "seasons" instead of this 10 episode mini-series stuff.
The better news is that SNW has already been renewed for a 3rd season and the 2nd season is coming out some time this year.

Gonna get back to work on the biggest and kinkiest part of the "Clyde and Ollie" series next.
It's actually been fun writing sexy furry stories again, outside of the finalizing and editing parts I have never liked.
I don't really have a set schedule or anything for posting, as I do these for fun when free time allows.
I hope people are enjoying them as much as I have coming up with them. ^_^

The best Animated Series and Videogame Batman voice ever.
Met him twice, once for an autograph at a WB tour in the 90s as a kid and again at comicon as an adult. Guy was dedicated and absolutely loved what he did, and will always be remembered as the best batman voice in games, movies, and cartoons.
Damn, hits me right in the child and adulthood at the same time.

Posted 3 years agoIt is Halloween season, one of my favorite times of the year. If I'm watching any TV or movies, I want it to only be spooky and cooky and altogether ooky stuff!
I had high hopes as a fan of Rob Zombie's actual horror movies...
Those hopes were quite expertly dashed.
Munsters was not worth watching... I couldn't even finish it.
I grew up on re-runs of Munsters and Adams family and they were one of the main reasons I liked the whole goth lifestyle.
About the only person that did a good job in it was the guy that played Grandpa, so major props to him.
They didn't even try to have Herman speak in a proper deeper voice, he sounded like a soy-boy hipster from west Hollywood, his voice even cracked multiple times and it would cause me to physically cringe. An 8-foot-tall guy should not sound like a 5-foot-tall manlet.
I know he was going for campy, but it was not natural campy... It was... What I could only describe as "cringe" and "phoned in".
The worst part is... Most of the jokes were flat, and I don't mean deadpan... I mean they were just plain bad... And not "funny" bad... Just BAD. A lot of the delivery was just, off.
After making it about halfway through, I had to watch some old original Munsters episodes from my DVD collection to make sure I wasn't judging the movie through "modern sensibility glasses". And no I wasn't... The 60s show is actually funny and charming and a crap ton better than what Zombie did, even by today's standards.
Hell, it might have been funnier if it was in black and white, had a laugh track and the actors had to wait for the chuckles to die down before going on to their next lines, or if Rob allowed some improv like the original show.
It is easily the worst movie Rob Zombie has ever made. He CANNOT do comedy.
I think it's time he went back to making Heavy Metal music.
