...aah. So general updates. I'm in hell, we're on week 2 of disaster level 6 on a scale that goes to... 6. Pmuch all health related things that aren't wholly dedicated to SARS-COV-2 are closed, and uh... the city is pretending nothing is happening. So that's fun. I've had a nonzero number of panic attacks over this. Understandably since most of my pre-Covid income came from... uh, art shows and craft show things, I'm broke.
Commissions are open, feels required to note that. Again. I also have a shop where I'm listing some of my jewelry, and will try to keep it stocked as stuff sells.

So, I've had a Kofi forever, and made a Patreon ages ago, but while Kofi's easy enough (dump things there, link it as a tip jar,) Patreon requires uh, thought investment?
What would y'all even want to SEE on Patreon from me? Previously I thought "OK, I'll just keep it synched with galleries and leave it as a place subscribers in the future get free access to stuff I make / sell separately on Gumroad, like bases, resources, and patterns."
Of course, then the harddrive my WIP bases were on corrupted (and I only JUST got the will to start anew on 'em again,) and I lost my scanner back in February? ...and was never able to afford a new one. So.. I couldn't actually scan in my sewing patterns, either.
Then the plan at the start of the year was to start dedicating it to work on my previously in progress graphic novel project. I've been silent on it til now wanting it to be a surprise when I launched, but um... NOT GONNA LIE, launching Corporatocracy, a work about mismanagement and greed causing a global pandemic and conspiracy theorists escalating it in to an apocalyptic scenario where all of society falls in to ruins and two megacorporations use the confusion and desolation to seize control of the world um...
Yeah that kinda feels like bad taste with an actual global pandemic occurring and with said conspiracy theorists actually... existing. BOY HAS THIS YEAR GIVEN ME EXTRA MATERIAL FOR IT WHEN I FEEL READY TO START AGAIN, THOUGH.

So, I do have two script ideas I'm toying with.. currently.
One is a science fantasy story about someone who finds themselves suddenly aware of the quantum link to their alternate selves and wrestling with it, and what that means for the rest of well, reality, when their sudden awareness leads to some scariness that could spell the end of reality as we know it.

The other, which is less developed but which has wrestled my brain in to submission and will probably get started first, is a supernatural buddy comedy adventure starring a vaquero monster hunter and a samurai ghost hunter who get forced to work together.

So I COULD still develop one a bit more and dedicate my patreon to that, but would something else be preferable...? I've toyed with tutorials in the past (and done a few on request,) but I don't know what people would even want to know about my process and work, haha.
Previously I was just putting my art on Patreon early, but honestly that was more of a pain than it was worth to micromanage, and I'd rather just simultaneously dump art everywhere.

So art right now is a lot of me re-learning things.
I've settled in to the studio space quite well over the past ??? amount of time. Gosh, has it really been since March?

I'm also switching over from Photoshop completely for all but photo editing, so while I ADORE Clip Studio this requires... time to build up work made with the new program so people have an idea of what to even expect from me, and so that i can get used to well, using different software. THANKFULLY a lot of the shortcuts are the same, so muscle memory is still my ally.
Also my brain is currently fixating on tabletop characters so uh. Expect a...lot... of elves.

I'm also in the process of learning new vector and layout software, which, again [waves arms at adobe suite I no longer have] there's a lot of ground to cover.
I'm going to start trying to dump my backlog up here because ART HAS OCCURRED. I am just... phenomenally bad at sharing it? Oops.

I'm also trying out a new platform for selling physical things. Etsy got slower and slower for me over the past two years or so, which in turn made it harder to motivate myself to maintain. After the "free shipping" change I let my already posted items expire, and uh, not one sale. So there's my sign.
I'm now going to be posting things to Storeenvy, though it's going to take me a while to get my current inventory organized and posted! I will likely still post things here and to twitter and tumblr and such before plopping them up there.

I'm just super physically wiped so while I'm trying to do better about posting and er, existing... I am slow and dead on my feet. Three booth sales in 2 weeks will do that to you, I guess. Also heatstroke. Okay, it's probably mostly the heatstroke. That I got at one of the booth sales.

Well, after a $1300 emergency medical expense last month, Bitey is back at the vet with a UT blockage...again. We’re not sure if the prescription diet just isn’t enough, or if they missed some stones when he was cleaned out before.
This comes right on the heels of me having to go to the doctor myself for a really nasty jaw infection, and the “largest, most swollen lymph node ever seen in his practice” according to the doctor. The latter has been forcing my jaw in to a derangement and setting off my TMD. I have a follow up visit in two weeks to make sure the antibiotics are doing their job.

So uh. Cash is a panic thing at the moment.

I guess I've been pushing myself a little too hard, and I have what seems to be tendonitis in my dominant wrist. It's not cts--I think and H O P E--because there's no tingling/burning/numbness. Just a L O T of pain and weakness in my grip/pain when I do. Typing doesn't seem to hurt if I type slower, games that don't require rapid key pressing seem fine. Drawing outright hurts. Can't lift anything much heavier than a 1 liter soda without pain.

So I'm gonna have to force myself to rest it up, which... I'm not good at resting. I get restless and start freaking out when I can't do things. Guess I can finally force myself to work through my... 5+ year backlog of things to "watch someday"

BRIGHT side, I have a new printer, got my [Etsy] fully operational again, and am gonna work toward getting a new scanner once I pay the printer off so that I can start scanning some of the traditional stuff I have kicking around.

So, I have a studio now! It's a crazy affordable space, but it is still an extra monthly cost, and most of my attention has been manically creating and trying to get stuff I've already created up on to my [Etsy] between craft shows. The space runs monthly art shows, and my work has been getting a lot of attention, so there's a lot of hoping and praying this could be big.
Incidentally, CRAFT SHOWS. I've been doing so many of them. I'm still at the "usually breaking even, still a lot to learn" level of things, but this might... actually work?

As things settle in and get calmer, I should be online more again. A lot of what I'm dealing with right now is around the clock catchup with existing physical art load and standing commissions. If I can get a vehicle, my schedule will become a lot more predictable / easier to manage. HOWEVER, goal #1 is getting to where I can afford insurance so I can actually get meds to MAKE MY BRAIN WORK RELIABLY IN THE FIRST PLACE, DANGIT.
I'm still at the figuring things out stage.
SPEAKING of catch up, [I currently have a huge lot of pendants for sale cheaper'n they'll eventually go up on Etsy for anyone that wants to grab the early.]

My mother is recovering pretty well.
I've been super sick with what... I can only describe as "a horrific combination of strep and sinus infection that then became bronchitis and is no longer in my throat but is definitely in my lungs now."

I've been doing a LOT of manic prep for booth sales that has left me super burned out to do much online, but hopefully now that I have more stock and don't have to spend as much time making, I can go back to spending more time drawing?
Recovering from burnout (round the clock care for my mother, who is NOT a good patient by any stretch of the means, was definitely a big contribution.)

Another big part of this is ... I'm trying to come up with a plan / figure shit out so I can even... make my monthly student loan repayments. The minimum being demanded is... basically the price of renting an apartment.
Like. A full time job in my area likely would still make it a struggle pay it AND groceries.

I'm trying to get used to selling online again, and will need a bit to see how much I can expect monthly from that, and am working my way back to commissions again, but this is likely going to become a panic struggle of trying to find a part time job AND arting again, so I'm a bit of a stressed out basket case at the moment, ahaha

Hey! Just a heads up on my absence.
It uh, happened sooner than I was expecting!
My mother was scheduled to go in for surgery on my birthday (back on the 17th,) but they were able to book her a week early. She's been out of the hospital for about a week now, and has needed a... lot of help around the house.
The first few nights I took to sleeping on the couch to make sure I could hear her if she called for help.
She's doing a lot better now, and is upright and mobile most of the time. She still needs a lot of help, but she's... stubborn enough to fight her way through things she shouldn't WITHOUT asking for help, so I have to be hyper vigilant. x_x

I should be back in a fuller capacity as her health improves!

Finally got an area setup as a small studio. Losing my studio was such a HUGE blow after graduation, and I'll be able to work way easier now.
Probably gonna do some sculpting tomorrow and see about prepping molds, but I'm not sure if I want to re-open my Etsy. They've made a lot of changes I'm not fond of since it was last operational.
Going to need to research my options there. In the least! Fun sparkly resin things to share soon™.

First let's start by saying OH GOD I WAS WRONG. Last semester was probably one of the most challenging I had as far as workload...ever. I barely slept, and had several weeks with 5 large paintings due that required around the clock painting.

_{I'm using Adobe Photoshop CS6. I'm on a Macbook Pro, running Windows 10 through bootcamp. 16 GB of RAM, Intel i7 quad core 2.20GhZ processor. I cannot test to see if the problem also occurs on my Mac partition, as I only have the Windows installation available to me right now. ;-;}

Okay so, I'm having a scratch disc problem. I've given Photoshop its own 100 gb partition entirely for scratch disc, and as backup, it has access to the rest of the 1700 someting GBs left of my 2 TB storage drive as scratch.

The problem is it won't allow itself to have more than about 3.7 GB as scratch? So within 5 minutes of working on something tiny (within CREATING TWO LAYERS on any print size image,) I start getting error messages that scratch is full so I can't do... whatever it is I'm trying to do. Use a brush, save, etc.

I can get around this by OBSESSIVELY PURGING after every other action, but obviously that's not a true solution and I'm eventually forced to quit and restart photoshop to get back down to a lower scratch size starting point.
This is pretty ridiculous.

I've tried doing a google search and that was ABSOLUTELY USELESS. The only results I got were people who genuinely were out of space and genuinely DID need a dedicated scratch partition.
But I've got all that, so WHYYYYYYY is it only allowing itself to have 3.7 GB!?
