My stance on reusing my character whole cloth for any sort of RP is that doing such is not kosher with me. This means RPing as me, impersonating me, or any other form of RP activity with out explicit written permission. Please do not do it.

Obviously I can't control the Internet at large and I am sure that someone somewhere is doing terrible RP as me on Facebook or something. I don't have the energy to go after all of them (though I would like to). It also is a bit of a thorny issue in the realm of copyright, reuse, and what really is original work anyways? I'm strongly in favor of anything artistic and creative so if someone is inspired by me that is all well and fine in my book. Be inspired and creative and do something for your personal growth instead of just wholesale copying.

I am also against anyone using my commissioned artworks as references or for character looks even if not directly impersonating me. This especially means re-uploads of art I have commissioned to F-List or any similar RP focused site. If you really can't find any way around it, link to the image in my gallery on FA or the artist's gallery and explain what similarities there are and so on. That seems to me like the most respectful way to handle things of that nature. Directly asking is one too. I have no opinion on my commissioned artworks ending up on any Booru or archive or tumblr or whatever. They ought to be enjoyed. It gives me a smile when I'm given a good word about how someone appreciates what comes out of my mind.

If you know of other imposters or individuals reusing my artwork or posing as me then I would appreciate having them reported to me so that I can add them to my list. You can find most of my contact details on my FA profile.

It's come to the attention of the administration that there are entirely too many MFF journals going out at this time of year. In addition to this, it has been happening on a regular basis for some time that users are plagued with 'meme' journals, notices about going to conventions, notices of having fun at conventions, and reviews of conventions upon their return. This is far too many journals and pictures of convention related materials for any reasonable user to handle. Since our ancient, decrepit system has no ability to filter journals and submissions based on key words (or any other factor) we are now declaring that you may only have one convention related journal at any give time. "Spam to Win"
I am in favor of getting rid of Spam To Win type contests. I've only ever entered a handful of these because I feel it's doing a disservice to my watchers to clog up their in boxes with a junk journal and it also makes any future postings by me more likely to be given less interest if I were to be known for posting useless journals of that sort frequently.

Furthermore I feel it's fairly dishonest of the original poster to demand watches in return for a chance at some prize. Regardless of the community - fandom, business, hobby, etc - names hold currency. Eyeballs hold currency. The internet is full of people who are utterly desperate to be noticed. Many employ their personal talents in an attempt to get noticed: They draw, write, perform music, create silly videos, or otherwise incentivize others to become part of their wider social circle via personally produced works.

When someone attempts to subvert the system via financial means it's generally noticed and these folks are then looked down upon in various ways depending on how they went about their attempt to buy popularity. When it's a straight up cash offering (which we assume to be fair and legitimate) many express disbelief and some even go as far as to run smear campaigns. Another common tactic to buy popularity which is largely a furry-only pursuit, is to commission massive amounts of art featuring their character/fursona and is typically repetitive in theme with little meaning to anything. It can be thought of as similar to psychological warfare involving dropping tremendous amounts of leaflets over your target audience. Attempts to buy popularity can be seen in many other places in life such as the way someone dresses, the amount of parties they throw, and similar such acts.

However I caution you, Gentle Reader, to not take such a cynical path as to assume that all such events which bare similarity to these are a crass attempt at gaining your favor. Merely be mindful that attention given is a precious commodity.



"YCH/Auction Reminders"
I am much less approving of this new rule than the previous one. To quote the text of the rule:

"Reposting the same image, or a modified variants of the same image, is NOT PERMITTED. If you want to post a reminder, you can do so in the description of a new submission with a unique and new image (NOT a repost or variant of the original) or via journal to your watchers."

While well intentioned, this is poorly thought through. I do not see any discernible difference between spamming picture submissions and spamming journal submissions. All this does is encourage the holders of these YCH or Auction sales to instead post a daily reminder journal. Alternately, a junk sketch could be made every day and be well within the guidelines provided.

Putting aside the idea of perhaps making a custom interface for auctions with built in reminders, the most productive choice for the least effort would be to simply limit these 'reminders' to 1 or perhaps 2 additional notifications.

There is no way that this can possibly go wrong.
Either someone wins $1111 or there is a massively hilarious drama kerfluffle if it doesn't actually happen.
Win-Win, right?

Normally Tuesday is a day of terrible things. Horrors such as scheduled server maintenance and doctor visits and other sorts of blandness! Not so this Tuesday because I'm posting a Q&A journal! I don't really want to call it TMI Tuesday because as much as I love being asked those sorts of questions I'm hoping for some that are thoughtful or interesting. Too bad we lack a day of the week starting in Q. or A. Oh, wait! We have a month though. The August of Answers! Or something. Anyhow, also I feel like bumping the older journal away.

Azazial is willing to go into hir history today with answers to questions. Maybe you're curious about something related to how her life has gone so far or where it's going in the future? You could also ask about hir preferences about certain things if you're wondering about the way that shi acts or dresses. On the topic of questions that does remind me that I have a big ol' list somewhere in my many, many files of text that contains a lot of questions on character development to help stimulate ideas. It's a pretty handy thing so maybe I'll end up putting it up somewhere.

I get asked this from time to time and considering that my name is a bit exotic in its pronunciation, it often needs clarification.

There are four syllables in my name. My personal phonetic rendering of it would be "ah-zaz-ai-ell". I put equal emphasis on all four parts.

Short A as in "traffic"
ZAZ as in "zap" plus the same Z sound again
I as in "eye"
AL pronounced more like "el" as in "spell"

The unusual pronunciation of the final syllable there got me thinking about English and it's many varied ways of pronouncing something. Despite being a native speaker of English, I've always been slightly strange about some of my pronunciations of words that I've seen spelled but never pronounced before. It also occurred to me that the International Phonetic Alphabet totally looks like a language to write magic spells in. >.>

My birthday is on August 11th, 3 weeks from now. I wish I could say that I'm excited about it, but I'm not really. Not aside from the chance at a nice dinner with friends and maybe some gifts if I'm lucky. Maybe drink a little bit, though I'm working on cutting back massively.


Oddly enough, when I decided to do this and mentioned it to some friends of mine while fishing for encouragement I felt like I got very little in the way of supportive comments. You really notice how much positivity is given toward drinking alcohol and how available it is. I don't really even enjoy it all that much any more. I find myself wondering why in the world am I putting this into my body (along with caffeine when I drink coffee) but then I do it anyways. I've never been a daily drinker, but that pattern reeks of habit forming chemicals. Something like 3 weeks since I last drank alcohol at this point.


I've been toying with the idea of writing an essay about why we need hermaphrodite pronouns and gender-neutral pronouns. It's an important subject to me, but I find it difficult to collect and express all of my ideas about the topic cohesively. I feel a bit like I'm trying to solve a problem that doesn't exist yet.

I have a who is a little obsessed with sexual contests so every once in a while I try and think up some sort of silly sex games. This one came to me a bit at random last night while I was lounging in bed before falling asleep.

Sooo~ To start off with, it's done in a bit of a game show format: You have a Contestant who is blindfolded and their arms are bound behind their back. Personally I'm quite a fan of bondage so I would go with a fancy arm binder and maybe they would be dressed up in lingerie or kinky clothing or something of the sort for atmosphere.

On the first round, the Contestant gets their nose and muzzle pushed up against the crotch of a Spectator for 30 seconds and the Contestant then has that much time to explore their target with their tongue and nose. After that, the same happens to two other Spectators. When the Contestant is done they have to identify the gender and species of each Spectator based on taste and scent. If the Contestant answers correctly for each one of the Spectators, they go on to the next round! Each round has one more Spectator...

Of course, if the Contestant answers incorrectly... It's a free for all and they get gang banged by all of the contestants!

I didn't decide on if there's any win condition or not... *snicker* Maybe after 6-7 rounds or so they could become one of the Spectators that need identification instead of a Contestant. No one ever said the game had to be fair after you've been selected. <3

After the 3rd round you could start inserting vibes or sounds or other toys into the Contestant to make things harder to concentrate on. Plus if they end up cumming then that counts as a loss as well!

A long time friend of mine nitzu (who has gone by numerous other names and I've been trying to get hir to settle on one!) is doing commissions at the moment. I don't normally pimp out other folks' commission spots, but I'm making an exception for this one because we're also working together off and on again on a "Ren'Ai" style project. That's the Japanese term for what is more or less a Visual Novel.

I've been working lately on getting some of Azazial's / My history down on paper (I wonder how long that phrase will stick around in the English language) which is a weeeeird feeling. I keep crying out of sheer nostalgia and sympathy for a self that... is myself but yet was experienced by another "myself". Poor me. Even in my dreamy idealized sex life so much tragedy! But then I, she, we pick ourselves up again and keep on moving forward.

I also feel apprehensive about actually writing down and sharing some of these pieces of me which are long buried and experienced by few others. The actual experiences were uniquely mine and can't be 'stolen' by others, but I somehow wonder and worry about my reaction to how I would view it if I saw someone trying to steal my character or my history or some other such thing. Ramble ramble rabble rabble.

I know that Journals don't get read all that much (unless you're a popular artist or giving something away) and so I don't really make very many of them, but hopefully I'll get some useful advice here.

How long do you think is reasonable between 'pokes' at an artist who has been sitting on a commission for a while? I try and not do it more than every two weeks or so. I don't generally bother the ones who post regularly but take a while on their work, but others I have less of a read on. I am also feeling pretty jaded about getting on board with "emergency" anything. I hopped on a couple of "emergency commission" spots back in June and felt good about helping out, but haven't gotten any of them two months later. :S

Continuing along those thoughts but extending to a more general sense of popularity I've had some interesting experiences in the field of RP fucking. =P On one hand I often feel kinda sheepish when I approach someone who is popular or an artist even if my intent is simply because I find them interesting as a potential playmate since I know in the back of their mind lurks the thought "what does this person want from me?" On the other hand, I've had a variety of well written individuals express this same sort of apprehension to me about me! This sort of thing always surprises me, but I guess it's just a variation on the artistic self-doubt of "all my work sucks because there are people better than me". Or maybe it stems from the generalized traits from the desire to learn and improve: I can do better than this; this is not my best work.

Tomorrow, August 11th, is my birthday and also marks having lived in California for a full year now. I actually arrived and completed my move on the 9th of last year but it's close enough to my birthday I think I'm going to employ creative license and declare the 11th to be my symbolic anniversary.

I've been mucking around on Taps for about a week and change now and it's kinda fun and interesting. I've met a few fun furs over there, but there seems to be an annoying amount of elves around the Herm Haven at times. Drows and other humanoid but not quite human species like Draenei are interesting enough in their own right and visually appealing too, but the traditional light and smooth skinned nature elf just seems so bland to me these days. I also wandered around the world for a while and spent time reading the descriptions of all the places and things like that which lead me to notice quite a lot of misspellings and typos leaving me to wonder if the place is ever maintained any more or if it's just been on zombie auto-pilot for years.

My Birthday is August 11th for those of you who didn't know already. Rawr~! ^.^ I will be... er... well... Not telling. >.>

I arrived safe and sound in California about two weeks ago but I only got internet set up and installed a few days ago. I went from my ever trusty Fuse.net DSL in Cincinnati to Comcast out here in the Bay Area. It's much, much faster but I'm having horrible connectivity with the connection dropping out for 15-30 seconds 10-12 times a day which is terribly annoying because it breaks all TCP connections and booting me off games, IRC, voice chat, and everything else. Grr. Big contrast from the DSL I had been on for the past 12 years which wasn't very fast but was rock solid in terms of stability and ping times. Gonna have to gripe to Comcast about it and figure out whats up because this is unacceptable.

Mostly I just wanted to post this journal to bump the other one about traveling off my page since I'm done with that! The weather out here is fantastic and I'm having so much fun living with friends locally instead of just on the internet. Though there's plenty of that too. <3 you all!

This game is fantastic. I really can't say enough good things about it. The story on it is really great and the major selling point of the game for me. The actual combat controls are a bit clunky, but it's so worth it to play it all the way through. I think it took me something like four or five hours to do so on normal which is a TON of content for a free flash game. It's like an old school SNES RPG story right out of the mid 90s that seems to go back to the SNES roots of "games as art and story". The game feels like it would be right at home on the SNES.

The characters are all fun and have varying interesting personalities and it really got me going emotionally at a lot of parts. There are a lot of plot twists and many of the moments in the game were extremely touching once I really got into the characters and felt connected with them. The scope of the events of the plot went well beyond my initial expectations and the game writer gets big kudos from me for this. It's also a one person product - Everything in the game drawn, written, and programmed by one individual as a personal project. Only the music was by someone else. Some of the closing comments in the story and observations about the human condition felt particularly poignant after becoming emotionally invested in the characters even though a lot of them are pretty basic philosophy.

Seriously though. Play this game all the way through. It blooms and escalates fabulously, has multiple endings, and is just all around great. I haven't played a game in a while that I felt compelled this much to share with others.

edit: Oh yeah, I suppose I could offer some tips on how handle the combat which is honestly the more boring part of the game. When I played through normal mode I with with a heavy Offense/Int build with some Defense and Agility thrown in occasionally and pretty much ignored Luck. Also I stacked the hell out of shield modules. Some of the bosses in the later stages of the game deal obscene amounts of nearly unavoidable damage so really good shields (or amazing dodge skills) are pretty much a requirement even though one of the characters in game tells you that they aren't really that great. They are.

My skill build was: Explosive Crit (Insurance is fine too) > Rapid Reload > Demolitions > Power Critical > Defensive Shielding (I suppose you could go with Self Fix, but by this late in the game you'll know which one is better for you hopefully. ie Int-poor builds)

Talk with every single NPC every single day or you'll miss out on a lot of the story that makes this game good. Don't rush through the dialog!

Phew. Finally just strolled in after spending two weeks in California visiting a bunch of furs plus a couple of days I stopped over in Chicago on the way back home. Bed is looking awfully good right now.

These two videos had a huge impact on my life recently. I'm hesitant to say life changing, but I felt incredibly refreshed mentally for several days after the very first time I watched them. I found myself outright crying when I watched them. You should watch them as well when you have time. Each one of them is 20 mins long so you should make sure that you can be completely undisturbed for 20 mins. Sorta a boring day in history over all when you compare it to the 2 or 3 days surrounding it. I mostly seem to share a birthday with terrorists. Sweet, I guess.

Also, I seem to share a birthday with Steve Wozniak. That's decent at least!
