Seems I'm doing another journal within a month of the last. Clearly the end times are upon us.

So, since I haven't really said anything of substance in a while, the floor is open for questions from the curious. I'm sure there is catching up to do. Suffice to say, things have been on the uptick this year, and I'm hoping that trend continues.

Long, strange trip, though. And some things are still being sorted in my head. But at least I have positive things to dwell on, right?

Anyway, it seems the writing bug has bit again. And it seems that the time is somehow more available since my re-employment. Just looking for a bit of inspiration...

Well, I'm alive. And, oddly, back at work.

Only lost power a few times, but others weren't so lucky. My grandma was flooded out and is staying with us while her apartments clean up. Friends were flooded out, and one such family is also staying with us. Most of my friends' jobs were flooded, so they're waiting for word on whether or not they still have jobs.

Yes, I know, I don't post often. Got back from Furry Fiesta just the other day, and it was most fun! Rocky Horror, writing panels, tabletop roleplay with new people, seeing a few people I don't normally get to, losing bids at the art show... OK, maybe the last was a little less than fun, but hey, was an overall good con.

Now for the long wait til next year. My roommates apparently missed me.

Anyway, back on the writing front, perhaps it was just accidentally going a weekend without my bipolar meds (always forget something when packing, right?), or perhaps it was being around other writers and getting advice, but I feel like putting pen to paper again. Not sure exactly what to go with, but I have some ideas floating around.

Perhaps when I have some more spare time, I can get something out... perhaps another short story, or perhaps something new that I hope to build on. The only prior work I might be picking back up (when I can refresh my memory and redo my research) is Cassia's Tale (not counting a prequel work I did for a bigger project. That's still in my head trying to get out).

Here's hoping I can get some time to write, eh?

Yes, I know, me communicating more than once in a month is a rarity. Nothing disastrous has happened or anything like that. Just... well, I have a lot of spare time on my hands of late, and I've been thinking about writing again. The only real snag is that I have no idea what to write.

I know, I know, it's been a long while. I've been away due to moving. At the start of the year, I finally moved away from the situation I was in before. Several months of rest and therapy later, and I've come out better for it. I've had a few little adventures had a relationship or 2, a breakup, a few scares with my job and other things... In short, it's been a year.

Not saying I'm back to doing anything regularly. After all, I am borrowing a computer to post this. But I felt I should take the opportunity to let everyone know I'm still breathing. I've moved to a different part of town with a nice family that has been supportive thus far. Money has been something of a pain, but I'm getting better about not overspending. I've been officially diagnosed bipolar, and the meds help (especially after 6 months of therapy).

Sorry for the rambling, but... well, I finally got a chance to visit. Thought I'd dump info. Oh! Have been running games again after having spent a while burnt out from overdoing it. Just a Shadowrun campaign (though contemplating starting an alternating schedule with Ironclaw second edition if my book ever comes in), and only once a week, but it's something.

Only other thing of note is plotting ahead to Furry Fiesta next year. Having no luck so far finding a room. Will see how things go, but I can pay if someone has space.

Anyways, good to have the chance to post again, even if it's just to say "still not dead".

On October of 2008 we took over a pre-existing fur meet on the north side of Houston, Texas when the fur that ran it had to leave town. The meet would, on average, draw about 15 people.
Since that day, the park meet has grown to typically hosting between 50 to 70 furs every first Sunday of every month. We have routinely had furs from Dallas, Austin, San Antonio, Corpus Christi, and Louisiana make the long drive just to come to the park meet.
We have also had furs from Florida, New York, California, Colorado, Oklahoma, England, France, Germany, Japan, and Russia schedule a vacation around the park meet just so they could attend it.
If you have ever wanted to come to Houston so you could attend the Houston PhiPaw Mercer park meet, you can’t.
As of January 2015 all Harris County parks have implemented new rules that have killed our ability to successfully host consecutive monthly park meets.
But there is hope.
Individually we are just furs but collectively we are a fandom.
And when our fandom unites behind a common cause, we are mighty!
If we can get enough people to complain, we may be able to change their minds to allow us to reestablish the park meet.

Certain events past and recent notwithstanding, I do so love this season, especially the impending holiday.

Ok, to the updates:

Writing: Having given it some thought and taken the time to try and level myself out, I've figured out just why I burned myself out as rapidly as I did before: I tried to tackle too much at once. I've thought about it, and while all of those ideas are still in there, I think I'm just going to focus on a few. For now, I'm going to be working on Cassia's Tale (I may need another title at some point. Suggestions are welcome), and another short story that I started but didn't get around to finishing. I also have a project for someone that is still in editing. Hope to have a few more things posted by year's end.

Work: As of last week, I've started work for a non-temp company. for the first time in a long time, I have full-time permanent employment! Once I get my various financial messes straightened out, I think I'll be doing quite well for myself.

Personal: Ok, cliffs notes. Not really wanting to go into detail here. Ask if you want to know more

Seems I wandered into a bit of a lull the last... whoever long it's been. My writing schedule kind of fell apart due to a sudden massive influx of ... well, work at work. Less spare time and a bit of mental fatigue have had an impact. Fortunately yet unfortunately, that work will be disappearing come July 31, so I should have more time for writing.

Yes, the inspiration is still there, and the story ideas are still running around in my brain, but for a while I just seemed to lose motivation. This sort of thing does happen somewhat regularly (the loss of motivation), and is... well, let's set the personal stuff aside.

Otherwise, there hasn't been much going on. Just work. Have had some guests this month, and while things haven't been perfect, it has been good having them around.

Hmm... other notes... May be acquiring a new means of transportation (well, new to me( soon, had fun at the Beach Blast (other than the mild sunstroke), and may be acquiring the materials for my (non-metallic) components to assemble my armor for the SCA.

Ok, new business: Having, to date, never sold a commission work (unknown writers apparently aren't in demand), I was wondering if anyone had any ideas or advice on how to get my name and skill-set out there. Thoughts, anyone?

Yes, I know, 2 journals from me within 60 days of each other and no memes involved. I'm surprised too. But, all things considered, I figure some overall goings on in the shadowy expanse between my ears were worth another post.

For the first time in a long time I feel absolutely INSPIRED. I'm not sure what it is, but for some reason my fingers keep finding their way to my keyboard in an increasing amount of my spare seconds. I've even been looking at dusting off old story ideas I'd shelved since my early days of college over a decade ago. Something tells me that I can actually make them work now. So, to give you an overview of my current project load:

1) 2 commissions I did for a friend of mine. This one is almost on the back burner just because I have to wait on them to make the edits they want before I post their tales here.

2) Pactio Infernum: Well, for the moment, I plan on keeping to a slow, steady pace. Looking at 1 chapter a month for now. I'm really hoping for some feedback, maybe see if anyone has any ideas I could use to improve the story. Sure, not a lot of readers thus far, but I figure it'll pick up eventually.

3) That contest entry I keep talking about: Thinking I made some significant progress. And even if our benefactor cancels the contest, I still intend to have something for it anyway. Expect a post by the end of the month.

4) The Adoptable's Story: Well, for one, as I said before, I took the time to give her a name. With any luck, the first part of her story should be up by the weekend. I'm looking at putting up 2 parts this month, and hoping I can keep up that pace. I think this one could go somewhere given a bit of time and effort.

5) That one project: Still working on my prep stories. When those are finished (2 to go), they'll be posted here. Hopefully I can start working on the plot of the larger work by month's end.

6) Dusting off the old: There have been 2 story ideas that have been kicking around in my head for close to a decade now, and with the state of mind I've been in lately as well as the episodic release stratagem a friend suggested by the above commissioner I believe I may be able to do something with them. Look for developments in April or May.

7) And ringing in the new: As if all of the above weren't enough,I still find myself craving more. More stories (short stories), maybe even commission slots if my well runs low. Wanting to have at least another 2 short stories done by month's end in addition to the above workload.

The madness seems to have returned. And damned if this bat isn't embracing it!

ANew Project: Courtesy of the still-unnamed adoptable I acquired from  miss.anthro, I did in fact hit a bit of inspiration. I'm currently in the planning and world-building phase, but I think I have a premice in mind for a series to work with. Yeah, I really should update more often just to remind people I'm still breathing, so here we go:

TFF: Hey, if it's on their swag, I'm now obligated to use it. Had a great time at Furry Fiesta this year, and being a sponsor was kinda cool. Should do it again sometime. The new hotel was amazing (except for the elevators... and the overpriced everything, but at so nice a place, what does one expect), and it was great actually having money to spend this year.
