PANELS DUE TODAY!!

http://www.arizonafurcon.com/programming
Create an Account on AFC website HERE Then you will be able to Submit a panel! Submit panel you would like to host HERE
If you are having troubles "logging in" then email the panel info and your issue to programming[at]arizonafurcon.com we want to make sure everyone has a chance to submit a panel if you were having trouble. We do apologize.
Because we value our panelist so much, anyone who is chosen to run a panel is given a full days pass for the day(s) of their panel(s). If you have 3 or more panels chosen you will receive a full event pass for the convention.
Panelist badge rewards are only given to the first 4 panelists for any given panel. This helps control how many badges are given out and stops groups from bringing in high amounts of panelists to just get a badge for the convention. To help manage this, we will capture the full legal names of the additional panelists here so we can help get everyone their proper badges for the convention and alleviate any confusion prior to the convention.

Artist Alley
Excited about selling your art or crafts at AZ Fur Con? Here's a quick checklist of what you need to get started so you can get up and running without hitting any speed bumps!
1. Decide on whether you will be selling at the Artist's Alley or the Dealer's Den. The Dealer's Den is for vendors who are selling pre-made items or artwork including plushies, sculptures, furry fashion accessories, etc. Dealers are allowed to do commissions as well. The Artist's Alley is reserved for artists who create commissioned artwork or items on the spot.
2. Once you've decided on your venue, you'll need to obtain a tax license from the City of Phoenix if you are a person/business earning more than $3,000 a year through merchandise sales. If you are a small seller making under $3,000 per year, you are exempt from this requirement, but all sellers are encouraged to obtain a temporary tax license. Just fill in this form here and include a $25 payment by check. Your temporary tax license will then arrive by mail. This is REQUIRED before selling in the Dealer's Den and it may take several weeks to get your license. Licenses should be brought with you to the convention.
http://phoenix.gov/webcms/groups/in.....t/d_038326.pdf
More information on requesting a tax license here: http://phoenix.gov/finance/plt/lice.....tax/index.html
3. For the Artist's Alley, the cost is $20 per table per day. These tables come on a first come, first serve basis and must be purchased the day of use. Sharing a table with another artist is perfectly fine; however, tables need to be paid for the day of use at the convention and cannot be purchased in advance. Purchase of a Artist Alley table does not include a convention membership; this must be purchased separately.

Volunteering Info
Posted 12 years agoIt’s no small task to put on a convention. All conventions rely on a small army of selfless people who volunteer their time and energy. Volunteering is a great way to achieve that warm fuzzy feeling of helping out with a spectacular event that brings so many people together and helps build the community while reconnecting with old friends and even making a few new ones. This is also a good way to get a start in the community, if you just don’t know what to do. We’ll give you something to do and in turn you will find direction in moving forward with trust and new friendships while even learning some neat skills.
Volunteers still pay for their membership badge into the convention. However if you work for 4 hours or more your badge will cost just $20.00, by refunding you the difference. If you work for 8 hours or more we will give you Tshirt. If you work 12 hours or more we will refund you an additional $10.00 off your membership badge and if you work 18 hours or more, we will give you a free membership into Arizona Fur Con for the next year. As you work we will help you keep track of your hours. All volunteer refunds should be made only after you have completed working the length of time you wish to dedicate to the convention. We will only offer one refund transaction.
Volunteer Tasks:
We do not try to assign volunteers tasks ahead of time. This is simply because people's plans change even up to the last minute. You can e-mail us at volunteer[at]arizonafurcon.com if you have any questions. The list below is just to give you an idea of what sort of help we might need and to give you a chance to plan ahead on your own. Make sure to look over our programming grid and see what events or panels you want to attend and which you would like to work during or help out with.
You can choose to sign up early to become a volunteer and pledge some hours. Or you can simply show up at the volunteer desk at the con (which will be in eye shot of the registration desks.)
Early Volunteer Sign Up Form
Unloaders: Thursday, Early Afternoon – 12:00pm
We will have a truck arrive AT the convention hotel loaded with all kinds of equipment. We will need people with strong backs to help us unload the truck and bring items to various locations in the hotel for convention set-up.
Operations Volunteers: 2:00pm-4:00pm
Con Ops can use people to help unpack boxes and organize the office among other set-up and organization like tasks.
Registration Volunteers: Thursday Afternoon – 2:00pm-9:00pm
We will have sponsor and super sponsor swag bags, con booklets and other items to prepare. We will need people to start getting familiar with our registration check-in softwear, the lists and overall registration training for when the attendees arrive. Registration is typically one of the first stops any attendee will make, first impressions mean a lot! We want all our volunteers to have a good understanding of the system and know important answers to the questions they might get. Our goal is to make handing out badges and registering for our convention a smooth and swift experience.
Door Guards: Friday 10am-2 am * Saturday: 10am-2am * Sunday 10am-6:00pm
There are some spaces of the hotel (like the convention area) where people will need membership badges to get into. We need all eagle eyed volunteers to keep an eye out for anyone without a badge and kindly redirect them over to the registration desk or the nearest exit. We ask that you take the time to inform badge less people this is a private event, for which they will need to buy a membership badge to take part in.
Art Show Volunteers: Thurs 6pm-9pm * Fri 10am-8pm * Sat 10am-8pm * Sun 10am-2pm
The Art Show staff can use help with art show exhibitor guards. People who like to watch other people not steal pretty art. Or people who will sit happily at their desk and assist in getting artists checked in while making sure everything flows smoothly.
Hospitality/Info Desk Volunteers: Thurs 6pm-10pm * Fri 9am-11pm * Sat 9am-11pm * Sun 9am-2pm
We're looking for a few good folks, preferably who live locally, who can answer common questions such as "where do I find..?" You'll be provided with a map of the area, the dining guide, up-to-date information about the schedule and locations of events, and most importantly, a radio in case someone throws a question you can't answer.
Line & Crowed Control Volunteer: Thurs 5pm-10pm * Fri 9am-10pm * Sat 9am-10pm * Sun 9am-4pm
Relive your days in elementary school as you help manage lines. Lines will happen.. crowding will happen... It will be your job to help us manage these and keep traffic flow areas moving freely, abiding by fire codes and helping us to inform people why they shouldn't be blocking doorways.
Ninja Panel Moderator Volunteer: Thurs 6pm-11pm * Fri 10am-1am * Sat 10am-1am * Sun 10am-5pm
We will be given a special schedule to have handy during your shift. This will allow you to manage certain panel rooms and event areas. Your job will be to keep track of the time. When a panel is about to end you will need to quietly pop in and give the panelist a hand signal of say a 10 minute warning so they may start to wrap up their panel. As the clock ticks down and they need to really be ending, you should return, If they start packing up on time you can see if they need any help. If they do not you should send them another signal or gently inform them their panel needs to be done so the next person may come in and start setting up. - Use the time in between panelists to scan the room over and throw away any left over trash, move water cups to the back of the room or in the trash cans. When the next panelist enters you should greet them and ask if they need any assistance. Make sure everything they requested for their panel is available to them. During the middle of panels you should try and quietly check in on the panel room. During this time very quietly take a head count of the people in the audience and record this on your schedule sheet. Overall you should be a ninja fur and move quietly like a shadow so not to disturb the event.
Gofurs: Thurs 6pm-10pm * Fri 9am-11pm * Sat 9am-11pm * Sun 9am-5pm
We'll need you to "go fur" this and "go fur" that. This can involve anything from helping carry boxes to running messages to being dubbed the conventions carrier pigeon.
