It has occurred to me that one of the most satisfying things about being an atheist is that you look at the multitudes of holy men each claiming that they are the one and only true way to The Maker/Ultimate Truth and laugh like a maniac because you don't have to deal with any of that madness. Yes, being an atheist makes life that much simplier and freeing.

Today I'd read the news that Risihi Sunak, a Brit of Indian lineage had been elected as Britian's latest Prime Minister. Suddenly the irony struck me, an irony that is that Mahatma Gandi would have been tickled about.

For years Indians had been ruled over by British but now today the British are being ruled over by an Indian.;-/

There are those who want to make this country of ours into a "Christian Nation" (a nation based on God's principles) and claim that the Founding Fathers wanted it that way. I disagree and for a very simple reason. General Washington and company knew very well the dangers of mixing theocracy and government as the Inquisitions and the Salem Witch Hunts were both relatively recent history to them.

The word came down from the US Supreme Court today that Roe Vs Wade, the edict paving the way for safe, legal abortions, was no longer the law of the land. The matter is now up to the individual states to decide whether or not they want to allow abortions, and several already have "trigger laws" that will make abortion illegal once Dobbs vs. Jackson, the court case overturning Roe Vs. Wade, is certifed as valid.

Liberals everywhere are howling in pain because of this. They're also worried, and for good reason because conservatives aren't likely to stop at repealing abortion rights but will go on to repeal such guarantees as same sex marriage and GLBT rights in the workplace and otherwise.

What we need to do now is to (as the activists say) "think globally and act locally" and elect only local and federal politicians that are sympathetic to abortion and GLBT rights so that these rights are not only retaind but strengthened. I hope this is done. I of course am only one person but I'll do what I can (at least at the ballot box) to make sure this is done.

I heard that Elon Musk went through his furniture today to look for spare change. Doing so gave him enough money to buy Twitter.;D

You know, it's pretty pathetic when the only Valentines' Day treats you get are from your mother! I've never had someone special in my life and I probably never will. I wish Valentines' Day never existed!

Watching the "furry" movie "Lone Wolf" about a psycho who wants to turn humans into anthros by sewing them into costumes. This thing is so over the top, it cries out for a "MSTY3K" treatment!

Saw "No Time To Die" today. Without giving out spoilers, there's an interesting musical call back to the earlier Bond movie "On Her Majesty's Secret Service" at the end-and for a similar reason. I'd love to see if anyone other than me picks this up.

Comedy isn't just for "laughs". There's a grain of truth to comedy that gives it its power and forces the listener to think about the very things the comedian is talking about. Comics like the late George Carlin knew this well and exploited it to their best advantage.

Wrote this about two years ago on the 18th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks. I think it's just as relevant now as it was back then.

A thought occurred to me over dinner. It's been 18 years since the terrible events of 9/11. That means that roughly a whole generation of children has grown up hearing about 9/11 but not being around or at least old enough to fully understand the impact of that day. Frankly I hope the wounds of 9/11 never heal, and this in a good way. A wound that heals is a wound that is soon completely forgotten, and we never, ever want our children, their children or their children's children to forget about the 3000+ innocents that were killed on that day or the hateful cowards that killed those innocents. We can only hope about this.

By withdrawing from Afghanistan and letting the Taliban back in, we have spit in the face of all soldiers that have bled and died over the past 20 years to keep the Taliban at bay in that area!

Conventions are being held in "the real world" again thank the stars. There's still the threat of Covid but at least some conventions are either requiring you to be vaccinated before you register or requiring you to mask up if you aren't vaccinated. That's comforting.

Let me be the first to warn you about a certian artist who did not deliver the goods for me even though I paid for them. I recently was in the market for an avatar on "VRChat" and an artist named "VTuber Artist" answered the call, promising me one for $450.00. I paid him about $350.00 up front with the balance to come when he was finished. A week went by and he told me he was finishing up and demanded the remaining $150.00 so I paid him. He never got back to me. I messaged him a few weeks later reminding him of the project, only to have him tell me to wait, that an update was forthcoming. A few weeks went by and I messaged him again but no response. I then messaged him a final time, saying that if he didn't have the avatar by the 21st of May I'd go to my bank to dispute the charges. i did that today and hope to get at least some of the money back. Please guys, DO NOT commission this guy. He's a scammer. Please also help me by spreading the word. Thanks!

Will someone tell me why classics in literature (such as Herman Melvile's "Moby Dick") are such a slog to get through and not very enjoyable to read at all?

They say you should forgive the people who have hurt you but I don't think I could do that. To me, doing so means that such people have won because they've gotten away with hurting me and haven't suffered any consequences for their actions.

I've recently heard that folks 18 and above are now elligible for the the Covid-19 vaccine. That means me (though I am surprised that because of my asthma I wasn't elligble for the vaccine earlier but that's neither here nor there). *YAY!* Now all I have to do is to find a clinic and get an appolntment for the first of two shots. I'm quite looking forward to carrying around that vaccination certificate like a badge of honor and the sooner i get a chance to do it, the better!

Watching "This Is Spinal Tap". I've heard that, as outrageous as the events in this movie are, many real-life rockers will attest to said events actually having happened to them.;D
