"Spiderman: Enter The Spiderverse"
General | Posted 7 years agoCaught "Spiderman: Enter The Spiderverse" today. It was a great movie but the Stan Lee cameo choked me up, knowing that this creative genius is no long with us.
Listening Bear
General | Posted 7 years agoI'm now listening to "Piper At the Gates Of Dawn', the very first Pink Floyd album. Wow, what a trip! What were Syd Barrett and the rest smoking????
Six Million Dollar Man
General | Posted 7 years agoAm I the only one that thinks that it would have been cool for actor Lee Majors (the Six Million Dollar Man of the 70s TV show) to do the vocal honors for his "toy" counterpart on the "Happy Honda Days" TV commercials?
Tumblr Thoughts
General | Posted 7 years agoNow that "Google Plus" is going away for consumers, I'd love to transfer to Tumblr but with the site's crackdown on "adult content" I'm not so sure that's a good idea.
Thoughts on "A Few Good Men"
General | Posted 7 years agoI'm currently watching "A Few Good Men", (it's a courtroom drama involving some Marines that were accused of murder due to their applying a "Code Red" hazing ritual on an underperforming cadet that accidentally killed him) and thinking that old school Marines who watch the film were absolutely appalled. The "Code Red" hazing rituals may have been rough, but at least it turned "screw ups" into spit and polish, "squared away" Marines that did their roles properly. Nowadays a "Gunny" (drill instructor) can't even touch a marine recruit much less allow him to be hazed and shamed into improving his performance.
Aging Bear
General | Posted 7 years agoI am now entering the final hours of my 48th year on this planet. It's hard to believe that within roughly one year I'll be able to apply for AARP benefits.;/
Thanksigivng Hopes
General | Posted 7 years agoI hope that firefighters, police officers, doctors and nurses have an easy day today. Even heroes need a day of rest and relaxation every once in a while.
Furries on CNN - Epilogue
General | Posted 7 years agoI think that the best summation of Lisa Ling's CNN "Furry Nation" article is that, while we furries SEEM to be weird, our fandom does provide a safe and loving haven for those who need it, such as for those with social anxieties.
Furries On CNN
General | Posted 7 years ago Recently CNN announced a special looking into the world of our Furry Fandom. I was up in arms about this. Mass media has entered our world time and time before and has painted us as wierdos, sexual deviants or worse. I even trumpeted this on several places on the social mediums I'm on. Still, I was just as curious as any other fur and sat down to watch it.
Color me pleasantly surprised.
Lisa Ling (the reporter) spent time with our fandom, taking pains to interview three individuals with social anxieties and learning how becoming their "fursonas" helps them ease their social anxieties and become more sociable. For example, Ling interviewed one gentleman who had been mistreated during his stint in the Army and had so mistrusted people, he retreated to a hermit's life in the woods. When he joined the fandom and developed a "fursonae" of his own, he began to come out of his shell and was even filmed as the host of a convention panel. The article took great pains in showing that the furry fandom is a warm, loving place where one can just be oneself and not have to worry about not being accepted.
Prior media articles have taken great pains to show the so called "sexual" side of the fandom, and this angle has always pained me, for it has painted us in the furry fandom as "animals" obsessed with sex all the time. CNN's article took a different tack, taking great pains to show that the furry fandom is less about sex and more about love, acceptance and making people happy. This was very comforting to me, as I know that the furry fandom's more than expressing oneself sexually.
All in all, the article was a very positive look at our fandom and a pure joy to see. I wish more articles were like this and hopefully they will be.

Spyro Reignited
General | Posted 7 years agoThe game 'Spyro Reignited" has a fat dragon named "Magnus". Naturally furries go NUTSOID over him. :/
RIP Stan Lee
General | Posted 7 years ago Comic book legend Stan Lee died today. He joined the staff of "Marvel Comics" (then known as "Timely Comics") back in the 1930s and over the years had created many, many iconic characters such as Peter Parker/Spiderman and such superhero teams as The Avengers, The X Men and The Fantastic Four.
That enough would mean that his place in the annals of comic book history was assured, but he also had a long standing tradition of appearing as a cameo in many movies made from the properties he'd created. With this in mind, it's a rather cruel irony that I remember seeing one of these movies ("Avengers: Infinity War") in a local cineplex last summer, noting Stan Lee's cameo as a school bus driver, and thinking "better enjoy this guys, he won't be making appearances like this much longer".
Excelsior Mr. Lee! Your "true believers" will miss you!

Mewe
General | Posted 7 years agoWho in the Furry Community has used the "Mewe" social network? Is there a very strong furry fandom presence in it?
Election Day Thoughts
General | Posted 7 years agoUnfortunately it's often the case that the purpose of an election is not necessarily to elect the most qualified candidate for the office, but to offer choice between the lesser of two (or more) evils presented.
VOTE!
General | Posted 7 years agoIt's Election Day, so GO OUT AND VOTE-and remember this...."People should not be afraid of their governments. Governments should be afraid of their people." - V - "V For Vendetta".
Thought
General | Posted 7 years agoI've seen a lot of push to "vote blue" in this election. With that in mind, I'm wondering if any Republicans are sweating bullets tonight.
Voting
General | Posted 7 years agoI filled out the ballot for my area's general election. If there's a general election in your area I hope you do likewise-if not today then soon. Remember voting is your civic responsibility!
Thought For The Day
General | Posted 7 years agoThought: Can a man or woman of the cloth who is also a politician be a public servant first and a person of the cloth second? Can he or she really be trusted to "render unto Caesar the things that are Caesar's, and unto God the things that are God's"?
Something I Can "Sink My Teeth Into"
General | Posted 7 years ago Today I embarked on a rather interesting project. I read Peter Benchley's "Jaws" today for my normal Sunday afternoon reading and will be watching the movie version again just to refresh my memory. It's commonly said that "the book was better" but having read both the source material and watched the movie I'd have to say that the movie was better because it told a far leaner tale. The movie didn't tell about the affair between the Chief Brody's wife and another villager nor did it tell about members of the Mafia buying up parcels of the town for redevelopment-nor did it need to. The movie focuses more on the fight between Chief Brody and the citizens of Amity and the shark itself and that makes things more satisfying. Still, reading the source material was an enjoyable experience and I am glad to have had the experience of reading one of the great classics of the 70s.
Problem with "Dillon's Dead Heat Breakers" for the 3ds.
General | Posted 7 years agoHas anyone been playing "Dillon's Dead Heat Breakers" for the 3ds and encountered any errors? I did today. I began the game, played as Dillion and defeated the "groks" and entered the village. I then hired gunners and played through the first battle for the village then i returned to Dillon's city. I then played a few rounds of the recycle mini game to get more money to hire gunners then received a summons back to the hotel for another battle. I returned and met "Chip" who told me to pick the gunners I wanted then return to him when I was done. That's when the game crashed. There was no specific error code but i did get a "We have encountered a fatal error and the system must restart". message. i can go no further, even when I cold boot the system and play the game again. Would Nintendo be willing to give me a refund in this case?
Thoughts On Venom
General | Posted 7 years agoI see that the title character in the upcoming "Venom" movie is being played by Tom Hardy who also was Bane the Russian assassin in the movie "The Dark Knight Rises". Hopefully we will be able to understand what his character's saying this time around. ;-D
DAMN YOU MS. NEWKIRK!!!
General | Posted 7 years ago I was giving today's mail a once over when i came across a monetary soliticitation from PETA addressed to my mother. I saw red. What mother doesn't know is that PETA are animal rights extremists and terrorists (throwing animal blood on people who wear furs are the least of their crimes). Worse, I know where PETA got my mother's name and address from-the Humane Society Of The United States, which is (or so I've heard) a PETA affiliate. If my mother would allow it, I'd call PETA up myself, give them a piece of my mind, and ORDER them to take my mother's name off their mailing lists once and for all.
Mama Bear
General | Posted 7 years agoMamabear got another monetary solicitation from PETA today. Why can't those animal rights extremists (and terrorists) leave her the hell alone???
Introvert Vs Extravert
General | Posted 7 years agoI was at a dinner party last night (don't normally go to those things but felt I had to make an exception since it was my mother's birthday). Looking at all those people nattering and grommishing (engaging in small talk), I couldn't help but think that extroverts will never know the hell we introverts have to put up with to live in their world.
No Subject
General | Posted 7 years agoHeard that Reverent Pat Robertson cast a "magic spell" to keep Hurricane Florence away. I wonder if he's going to evacuate the CBN complex "just in case".;-D
9/11
General | Posted 7 years agoAh yes, 9/11-the day when, seventeen years ago, America's (and perhaps the world's) innocence died. :'(
