Anyone playing Escape from Tarkov?
Posted 8 years agoHello how is everyone doing?
Just thought I'd make a journal to see if anyone watching me (or that happens to stumble upon it) plays Escape from Tarkov?
Would be more fun to play it with someone for sure, and I'm mainly looking for people in or close to Europe. As anyone who played it knows, having a good connection and low latency is very important. Still, I don't mind playing with people from the US or eastern Europe as long as there is not too much latency between us.
Check out this artist.
Posted 8 years agoHello and how is everyone doing? Now, I don't really do these usually but I thought I'd do a quick little boost to a friend of mine and fellow raptor whom you could check out as he has some good prices for his art. And while he has not really set any final prices yet, he does do a 'pay what you want' sort of thing starting at $20.
anthroraptorI've tried talking him into raising his prices so go and get him while you still have a chance. Or just watch him, I'm sure he will be happy with that too. Or not, and he'll be a grumpy raptor. Which I guess you would not want. Grumpy raptors can be problematic.
Flight school Part 2: Slow flying and Stalls.
Posted 9 years agoThere is not really any part 1 journal to this, but it would have had all the initial lessions on turns, climbing and decent. Which are a bit more difficult than they sound, especially when you combine them at the same time.
So I had my second set of flight lessons today. But first it began with a long three hour drive to the city in which the flight club/school is situated, then we had a quick theoretical briefing about what we are going to do once we're up in the air. Taking a few minutes to get back into it at first as it has been more than a month since the first couple of lessons. So we began with the usual pre-flight checklists, checking the fuel amount and draining some to make sure there is no water in the tanks. Then we check the plane itself, starting counterclockwise from the tail, then right wing, front and propeller before finishing with the left wing.
On the inside we check the instruments and make sure that the rest is ok before startup and taxi, which I am in control of. My instructor handles the Takeoff as we fly just north of Luleå while remaining inside Kallax (the airport) TMA.
Before starting with slow flying we begin with some quick refamiliarization to get back into things. Todays lession is about flying slow and how to get out of it properly to a normal cruise speed without losing or gaining altitude. Which went very well so after almost an hour of flying we head back to Kallax airport and align for landing on a long final approach, which I am in full control during and would even get to do my first landing if the weather would have been better.
So we taxi back to Apron 10 through taxiway A3 and along taxiway A and doing the he shutdown checklist before going out for some lunch and a break before the next lesson, stalls.
We fly up to a higher altitude than previously as we then begin practicing stalls. First a few without flaps which was relatively easy. Putting the plane in a stall by slowing down until the plane eventually says no and dives suddenly. And then recovering by diving slightly before increasing throttle. All without trying to lose altitude proved to be quite tricky. Which then lead to stalls with flaps fully extended, which caused a stall that made losing few hundred feet nearly inevitable as you recover, experiencing some negative G's during the sudden rapid pitch down, which certainly could be felt in your stomach. For the first time I also feel I am struggling with learning so most of the session was spe t practicing stalls,
Which is not a bad thing. A few hours of flying and the three hours of driving earlier in the morning now clearly began showing its effect as we head back to Kallax. But all in all my instructor thinks I'm making very good progress even though he clearly noticed me being exhausted mentally. Which tends to be normal as there is alot to take in during the first few lessons.
It was a nice and fun experience so hopefully I get the opportunity to continue in a couple of weeks again.
Flight school, job interviews and more.
Posted 9 years agoHello everyone, not often I do these life updates,
But this last week has been a pretty busy one, but certainly not in a bad way. About half a year ago I started flight school with the purpose of taking a PPL(Private Pilot Licence). And so this week after having had to postpone the flights several times due to bad weather, I were finally able to have my first three flight lessons as well as my first three theory tests which were planned for later in the week. But I also had a couple of job interviews, and my yearly vehicle inspection which is not as interesting. Just a bit strange that all these happened within the same seven days is all.
Anyways I'll begin with the job interview, which went well as I were actually hired on the spot more or less, so I'll begin working as a chef again on the 2nd of May which is nice as I have been unemployed for too long.
Next up I had my first flight lessons, which were both very fun and interesting, but what is even better is that according to my instructor I'm making "Eerily good progression." as learning to coordinate turns usually takes a few lessons to get right but he joked that to him it was as if "You had never done anything else." which is very fun to hear and very encouraging.
Then I spent a few days studying in preparation for my tests, reading up on 'Air law', 'Operational procedures' and 'Aircraft general knowledge' which are my first three subjects out of nine. And I went in to do the test thinking that I'll probably pass at least 1 or 2 of them, but to my surprise I actually managed to pass all three, which is a great relief as I can now move on to some of the other subjects.
All in all it has been a pretty great week for me, and to those actually reading this, how has your week been?
My thoughts on: Nuclear power
Posted 10 years agoJust a little series of journals that I may or may not continue. But basically just about some thoughts I have about things that people usually have misconceptions about and other things. Not saying I'm necessarily right or wrong here so feel free to correct or come with your own ideas and thoughts.
So my first thought is about nuclear power. Which is something I have always been a supporter of. And I'm also not against wind or solar power at all, just that they are fairly inefficient so far.
And to begin it all I just find it interesting when you read about nuclear power, and you realize that wind power has killed about 3 times as many people per TWh as nuclear power ever has. (This does include everyone that has so far died from cancer as a result of radiation from the Chernobyl disaster.)
Here are some numbers on human deaths for various power sources so far in deaths per Terrawatt hour of energy produced. This includes deaths from pollution, acquiring the materials, construction, and maintenance. After all, it is a long way to fall if you happen to fall down from a wind turbine somehow.
Coal 60 (Even higher in China at around 90)
Oil 36
Hydro 1.4 (Banqiao dam disaster killing about 171.000 messes the number up a bit with about 0.10 otherwise in Europe)
Wind 0.15
Nuclear 0.04
http://nextbigfuture.com/2011/03/de.....gy-source.html
Chernobyl is of course the biggest killer when it comes to nuclear power, and the total death toll for nuclear power worldwide so far is a bit over 8000 dead. There are of course other problems with radiation exposure, lowering the quality of life drastically. But compare this to the death toll for coal power alone which is around 2.000-3.000 dead per year from gas explosions and lung cancer for example. (Numbers I found are a bit skecty, but even could go up to 10.000 if combined with the hazards of coal mining. And also once again even higher in China.)
Is nuclear power really such a bad thing then? Well in a way, yes. Nuclear power can potentially be extremely dangerous if not handled carefully and responsibly. If several disasters like Chernobyl would happen then it could make large parts of our planet uninhabitable. But then again, are the alternatives really any better?
At the moment we are slowly killing off our planet by burning coal, oil and other biofuels to power our societies. These power sources are certain to create alot of pollution, and so by the time we come up with something that is clean and renewable, or convert more of our powersources to renewable energy, then it might actually be too late. Nuclear power could supplement more traditional power sources temporarily to buy us more time to come up with better renewable energy sources.
To me it seems that nuclear power has been given a bad reputation due to the damage each individual incident has caused or could cause, the same way that airplane crashes get alot more attention than for example car accidents. Even though many times more people die on the road each year. And considering how much power nuclear energy provides I personally think that the risk would be worth it. (We have also learned alot since Chernobyl when it comes to safety after all.)
So nuclear powerplants provide lots of power, but they also produce quite a bit of very dangerous nuclear waste. Which of course is a big problem. However, the benefit is that we can store it someplace underground for a couple of thousand years where it can't do much harm, compared to pumping CO2 straight out into the atmosphere as we currently do.
With more funding I think nuclear power could be developed to produce safer and cleaner power, such as for example the molten salt reactors that are currently in development.
So what do you think? Do you agree with me or maybe think I'm completely wrong in this? That nuclear power should be banned forever?
Please comment and discuss, but please keep it civilized.

Furry fuel?
Posted 10 years agoI saw an ad for furry fuel, and my first reaction was. "Is there really a need for a "furry" energy drink?" and what makes it so furry in the first place? I guess the creator wants to make some money from the community by labelling it "Furry".
I'm not necessarily against it, I mean it just seems like a hobby project mostly, so congratulations to the person making it for doing their own thing. It is just that the idea perplexes me a bit is all.
Any thoughts? Discuss below.
Thanks for all the watches!
Posted 11 years agoHello everyone.
I just wanted to thank everyone that has watched me in the last month and a half, normally I try to send a shout thanking the person personally for the watch. But I have been working alot and not really been too active on here lately. Still, I appreciate every watch I get, so I bow down and thank you all both new and old for watching me. Even though I'm no artist and just a guy with some art of my argonian character Nox.
Christmas 100 watchers raffle winner.
Posted 12 years agoSo it is now christmas since a few hours and I ran my watchlist through Random.org.
And the winner of $20 is:
kerdna Congratulations!I will send payment over Paypal so an accout is needed for that. If the winner is unable to use Paypal for some reason then I will pay the $20 towards a commission of your choice or draw a new winner.
Also, I wish you all a merry christmas.
First 100 watchers milestone. Plus bonus inside.
Posted 12 years agoSo. After about a year and a half I have finally reached my first 100 watchers. It may not be a big number and I am not really that concerned about "fame" to be honest, but it is always fun to receive a few new watchers. And I always appreciate every new watcher, so I thank you all once again for watching me(or more likely my character:P).
So in the spirit of christmas(which I have none) I might give out a little gift, for "loyalty" you could say, to one of you watchers. You do not need to do anything to participate in this, so I bet to some of you it will be a real surprise if you win, because who reads these things anyway?
Anyways, commissions are addicting, you guys and girls are awesome. And if you do not see me here anymore, then I have most likey perished in the christmas traffic.;P
But until then I hope you all have a good time with your loved ones.
Joe out.
Edit. (Oh, and procene you are in as well since you watched me as #101 during the writing of this.)

Battlefield 4 PC anyone?
Posted 12 years agoI have been feeling like playing some Battlefield 4 lately, though I do not have many to play with since I moved to the PC from BF3 on the 360. Where I used to play with my clan. Battlefield is not a game that should be played solo with randoms in my opinion, so I'm wondering if anyone is interested in playing this weekend maybe?
Free game giveaway Batman: Arkham Asylum GOTY
Posted 12 years agoI bought the WB humble bundle from: https://www.humblebundle.com/
I have already played Batman: Arkham asylum so I will be giving it away
So post a comment motivating why you should get it. If there are no posts after 24h then the first person to post gets it.
I might also do more of these in the future, giving away an entire bundle or individual games.

...and I'm back.
Posted 12 years agoSo finally I'm back from my road trip, all in all it was fun to go to some new places and visit a few friends. Lots of solo driving, but it was sunny and warm for most of the time so even the driving was somewhat fun. But eventually I got sort of "homesick" and felt it was time to start the drive home. I drove for 16 hours straight, and still I was not home. I stopped for a visit at my sisters place and then continued the last 3 hours home.
And now here I am back home again. The trip meter reading 4 326km/2 688 miles. Will be interesting to see the total cost of it all.
Crosscountry road trip.
Posted 12 years agoTomorrow I will begin my solo roadtrip down to southern Sweden. I'm going to the Swedish aviation academy in Gothenburg(Göteborg). It will be a long drive(+900 miles or +1500km). The drive itself will only take a few days, but while I'm down there I might as well visit some friends. I also spent some time this week fixing up some things for my car, might as well do it now so the car doesn't break down halfway there.
I will probably be inactive for a couple of weeks. Maybe more, maybe less, but it is not as if I will be missed on here. :)
Anyone playing World of tanks?
Posted 12 years agoI started playing World of tanks the other day. It is a fun game, but it is hard to play alone though. Since the chances of a team of 15 working together are pretty slim. So I'm wondering if there is anyone here playing it?
And for those of you that are wondering: What is Badjoe on about now?
It is a tank simulator/strategy game with 15vs15 multiplayer. The game is free to play as well and fairly well made too, so give it a try if it sounds interesting.
Far cry 3: Blood dragon.
Posted 12 years agoWhat do you get if you take an action game set in what they thought 2007 would look like in the 80's, throw in some humor and lots of 80's culture references?
Far cry 3: blood dragon thats what! Mark 4 style Motherfucker...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0dofacvjRkc
Just awesome, Far cry 3 had a really good singleplayer. But this just makes me wonder how it was greenlit in the first place, hopefully it will be as good as the base game. This is just completely unlike anything I have seen lately.
Thief unveiled!
Posted 12 years agoIt might not be as exiting for most, but for me it is. Just now, Eidos Montreal unveiled the new Thief game. http://thiefgame.com/
The old ones were really good and some of my favourite games(probably the best stealth games) so I have high hopes, I just hope they are capable of living up to the name. But Eidos Montreal did a pretty good job with Deus ex Human Revolution.
Any other Thief fans here BTW?
Return to the 90's gaming.
Posted 13 years agoI started playing alot of my old games from the 90's and early 2000, and i have to say, that was the golden era of gaming. Talented developers and less greedy publishers made most games something unique, and i still enjoy games like Heroes of might and magic 3, Thief 1&2, SystemShock 2 and Unreal tournament.
I hope that sometime in the near future, the gaming market makes a turn towards creating games with gameplay over graphics to get out of the vicious circle.
Feeling tired.
Posted 13 years agoI have been feeling constantly tired this entire month while waking up around midday and still feeling tired, i have no idea as to why. Feels kind of strange seeing as i used to get up at 6-8 in the morning and take a walk around a month ago, now i don't have any energy or enthusiasm to get anything done.
My cat died this evening
Posted 13 years agoMy cat Diva died today, she were run over by someone, and while it probably was an accident they could at least have done something about it and just not leave her at the roadside. R.I.P. Diva 2005 - 25-08-2012. You will be missed.
Room's done

DCS A10c simulator
Posted 14 years agoI just bought the A-10c simulator and its definetly the most realistic one i have played yet.
Theres so much to learn, and it came with a 668 page manual!
Its the kind of game that will take a week to learn the basics, and probably a month to be able to carry out missions effectively.

Dead space 2 Hardcore finally done!
Posted 14 years agoI finally Beat Dead Space 2 on the hardcore difficulty (three saves for the entire game) and i it took only 4 tries
Failure 1: I glitched through the elevator floo,r an hour or so into the game.
Failure 2: Sneaky exploders.
Failure 3: Disc reading error halfway through the game,no save.
Failure 4: Not really a failure but a slasher killed me right after my last save so it only cost 10 mins.
Now i dont have to do that ever again but i might still do another just for fun.
