Going forward into the new year with my shop
General | Posted 13 years agoYesterday was the year anniversary of my shop RedWolfCrafters. In the year since I've opened I've made many sales, many friends and learned a great deal.I've learned much more about the fursuit/accessory building trade and I've learned to make all all kinds of different thing...now if only I had more time to practice all of it :P
Looking forward to the new year,I've accepted my first full suit commission from a good friend,I'm giving him the option to only pay material costs in exchange for letting me take my time practicing on the suit to perfect my technique. The fact of not having a deadling is very nice.
I plan on selling at a few conventions next year with several other builders in my pack.(Tiffy,Tori,if you're reading this thanks for wanting to come with me)We plan to operate under the title Red Maned Coalition, with our individual shop names under the banner.
Now I just need to build up stock for the cons. The only real issue is that I recently learned I have athsma(sp?) and working around the fur, even sewing it,causes me very bad lung irritation if I don't have anything covering my face.Even then I still need to limit my exposure for the sake of my health. This sadly has caused me to need to take more time on commissions than I would like. What should only take a week of continuous work has to be stretched out to 2-3 simply because I can't work with the fur for more than a few hours at a time.I'm thankful my customers have been more than understanding. If any of you are reading this thank you for your support and understanding, and I hope you are enjoying my work :D
This aside,I love what I do and I will not stop doing it.I just need to continue to take precautions and I'm glad I give people the 2-3 week deadline before hand just incase anyway.
So now that my shop anniversary has passed,I've gone on holiday vacation, and am only accepting a few commissions here and there, while I mostly work on stock and personal projects.I just got my fur shipment in today,4 yards of white mongolian fur for my new partial suit, which I hope to get started on in January sometime.I'm very excited about it.

My first attempt at a quad suit
General | Posted 14 years agoI'm not sure why but I only just recently learned of these! I wanted one right away <3 I'm pretty good at making fursuits and the like so I'm going to give this a try.I need to do alot of research to adapt my fursuit making techs into quad use.I know I'll need extensions on my arms, but how do you pad the body? How do you make the neck longer without losing vision? And I wonder if they can be made so I can atleast be fairly comfortable.I do want to wear the suit for extended periods,so I don't want to be in alot of pain.
It may take some time before I can get the materials for this, but I'll post my progress on here from time to time.If anyone who happens to read this knows anything about quad suit making please let me know!I'm going to be making a wolf.I plan on getting an airbrush for realistic details :3

First time back on FA in awhile
General | Posted 14 years agoAh,I have neglected FA for far too long,it's been over 2 years x.x I only remembered it recently when I was working on my shop, someone commented how I should reach my target buyers(other furs) more offsite.
Hopefully furs appreciate my work more,it's been soooo annoying trying to find folks to buy my wares on Etsy,I was surprised how few furs and cosplayers there are ~_~ And the nerve some people had at saying my stuff was way over priced,I just want to yell at them"$65 for a hand made custom painted tail is NOT a bad price, especially when they get over 8 hours of craftsmenship." Alas,to do such a thing would be bad on me as a shop owner,so here I vent off site, lol.
Anyways, hopefully FA is a good way to gain awareness for my work,I know it's the best shot I have at reaching fellow furs anyway.^^
