Artists Recommendations
Posted 11 years agoI may be updating this Journal now and then with artists I've had good experience with and need more attention and commissions.
o-kemono is having a Christmas Chibbi Special right now. Here's the one he did for me :) : https://www.furaffinity.net/view/15177712/
I cannot recommend O-kemono Enough. Not only is his anatomy really good, not only are his colors bright and vivid, not only does he do passionate pairing scenes, but he gets truly creative with your idea. I can tell he always goes deep into the character, who they are and what they're like, what their stories and motivations are. I think there's always some story in his head about what's going on in the picture. He takes your idea and makes it his own, puts the same effort and interest in your character as you do. The result are some AMAZING commissions, with real meaning and beauty behind them.
Bellow are more of the commissions he's done for me, and many are among the best versions of my characters yet.

A Question of Weekday Streamers
Posted 11 years agoOkay, got to make a bit of a rant here.
I love art streams. I love getting a commission on an artist's stream, and I love seeing my commissions's completed on streams. The best part is chatting with the artist and all their fans, and complimenting their art as it's being crafted. There's a few streams that have all but become second homes to me.
But I got to ask, why do so many of you stream only on the weekdays, and not on the weekends?
Wouldn't it make more sense to stream commission work outside of normal work hours? I've missed a good deal of my commissions being streamed, or missed streaming commission slots due to artists streaming while I'm at work, and I work a fairly normal weekday schedule. And I can't be the only one. A pretty big chunk of paying commissioners are going to have jobs, and will be working 9-5 on the weekday. Why would you stream commissions or take commission work during those days and hours? And why would you refuse to stream during the weekend, when, theoretically, many more paying customers would be available?
To those artists who stream on such a schedule, I do not mean offense, and I'm legitimately curious why you chose those days and hours. I'd like very much to be proven wrong on my assumptions, and be a little more educated on the life of the streaming artist.
And to those of you who do stream on the weekend, THANK YOU! To those of you who stream super late and well past midnight so we can still come home and watch, THANK YOU! And to those who make exceptions to their usual schedule, YOU ARE WONDERFUL AND DESERVING OF ALL LOVE AND RESPECT!

Half-Way Hotel Patreon
Posted 11 years agoThe comic birthed by the amazingly creative mind and outstanding artistic hand of
Caribou , now has a Patreon. Now I'm extremely hesitant to hop onto Patreons these days, but this one is one of the few that's worth doing. You're supporting a wonderful comic, by a wonderful artist, and getting some unique art out of the detail. I highly recommend giving a few bucks for it. I think its worth it.

Feedback: Favorite Characters and Future Pairings
Posted 11 years agoFor those fans of my characters that wander around here, I'd like some feedback from you!
First! Which of my characters are your favorites and which would you like to see more of?
Second! Which of my characters would you want to see paired with one another? Most of the characters in my archive are open-minded, suffice to say, with only a few exceptions. (Namely Zeriah, my black dragoness. She's not up for pairings sadly.)
Post in the comments here who you'd like to see more of and who you'd like to see with who ;) !

Vote For The Snake!
Posted 12 years ago
Halfway_Hotel is having another contest! Single $1 votes for another super-high-detailed wallpaper featuring one of two of the best characters in the comic, Glory the Cherub Cow, or Eric, the Soul-Care-taking Snake. They are my favorites in the comic ( can you tell?) but if I had to decide ERIC! We do not have enough beautiful snake peoples in our arts, and Caribou does AMAZING snakes, and he's an under-appreciated character to boot.So go the Halfway Hotel page on Tigerdile and VOTE FOR ERIC! Plus all the vote-money goes to supporting the comic and getting us even more Eric and Glory.

[Signal Boost] Chris Snowdon Commission Special!
Posted 12 years agoChris Snowdon, aka
Getta got hit with some very bad luck, and he needs financial help. So he's having a commission special with much lower prices for his amazing artwork.
Here's examples of what he's done for me previously:

He's been easy and friendly to work with, and produces your art very fast with amazing quality. I cannot recommend this guy enough!
This is an opportunity you can't miss. Helping out a great artist, and get great art at discounted prices. For Freya/Freija fans like myself, he deserves our support after supplying those dream-fulling fan arts of our favorite Dragon Knight :) !

A Legendary Artist Appears! Commissions Available!
Posted 12 years agoChris Snowdon, aka
getta , is a long time favorite artist of mine, largely due to this amazing Freya Crescent fan art, and then for his beautiful Iguana characters. He's a professional artist with several comics under his belt. You can see samples at his website: http://www.steampowered.net/
And right now, he's accepting commissions!
You can read up on all his commission information here: http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/5117170/
And his samples and commission types here: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/11742938/
And to further see how great this guy is, here's what he did for me recently: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/11766680/
He's extremely quick at getting commissions done, and both professional and polite in taking requests. I could not recommend this guy enough. He's amazingly talented professional who doesn't open up for commissions often, so what are you waiting for, jump on this!

Rainfurrest 2013
Posted 12 years agoAnd Rainfurrest 2013 is done!
This was my second round at the Seattle Con, and in many ways it was an even better con that last year's, though it also slipped up here and there.
My first, and only real problem with the con was the very close scheduling of events on the first day, Thursday. Registration opened at 10:00 am, and the Dealer's Room opened at Noon. As in, opened for customers. And my Plane landed at 10:48 am. I had fully expected to have been stuck in long registration lines while my favorite artists had their commissions filled up in the first minutes.
However, it wasn't nearly as bad as I expected due to the surprisingly small crowd on Thursday. Registration was done pretty fast, and got to the dealer's den as it opened. The line went by fast at Registration and the Dealer's Room didn't swarmed. Things went smooth and I managed to get commissions with most of the artists I had hopped for. I guess I'm used to the insane Further Confusion crowds . I still hope Rainfurrest doesn't have such a tight schedule for next year's first day, and gives artists more time to set up, and commissioners more time to get their badges before that first opening of the dealer's room.
Despite that false alarm, the con was very organized throughout the week. The panels were good, and there were so many great artists featured this year. I wound up with several great commissions from some amazing artists. The con staff was ever-present and both friendly, helpful and again, organized. Even when the elevators inevitably broke, or when the Fire Alarm got tripped, they kept the crowds orderly and got us to where we needed to go.
If you live anywhere near the Seattle Area, you have no excuse to not visit this con. If you're not a native, like me, you should still go! Rainfurrest has the quality and material (and artists!) of any of the big cons, with much smaller crowds. The con peaked at 2202 people. Enough to make a dealer's time profitable, and but small enough that we don't get trampled or lost :) .
I'll absolutely be going next year. And yes, I'll be posting my plethora of art soon.

[Signal Boost] Artist Looking for Suggestions
Posted 12 years agoOne of my best friends and favorite artists,
Kazen101 is looking for feedback, from viewers like you! He wants to know what folks like you want to see from his art. What sort of species, subjects, themes, media, anything. This is your chance to influence an artist and get him to draw more of your favorite kind of art! So hop over to his journal and let him know what you like the most!
Link to Kazen101's Journal
And of course, he's open for commissions. You can see from my gallery that he's done a lot of great art for me, and I can't recommend him enough. And if he doesn't do the type of subjects or species you like, now is the time to tell him and maybe get a sample!

Help a Great Artist and Actress come to Bronycon
Posted 12 years agoA wonderfully talented atrist and voice actress, 'EileMonty' wants to attend Bronycon, but living in the UK, it's super expensive to come visit a US-based con. So she's got a kickstarter-esque crowd-fund going on, with a bunch of awesome perks!
http://www.indiegogo.com/projects/h.....nycon/x/586591
EileMonty has done some of my favorite songs in the Brony music community, most notably this amazing cover of The Moon Rises: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lBlw4C6rzDo
She also played a pivital role in one of my favorite recent games, Dust: An Elysian Tail: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=06zt6xeEg40
I know there's some friction between Furries and Bronies, and you might not be a fan of the show and its community, but there are a lot of great, creative people who deserve our support. So please sign up and support her little campaign, even if it's just 5 bucks, if a lot of you do that, that'll be enough. Eile is one of my favorite fan creators among both fandoms, and I really want to help her visit our cons.

This time it's a traditional sketch while she's away from digital means of art. Likely a headshot or a bust. She'll be taking multiple winners from those who comment and its going until June.

Artists of the Stream
Posted 12 years agoI'd like to take a moment to call out a wonderful place called http://www.tigerdile.com/ . This is a streaming site where one can watch the art of several great artists being created in real time! You also get to hear said artists talk about their work and listen in on their favorite playlists. Artists have no fear of being banned for furry or adult artwork, and the service has been stable and reliable.
But the best part of these streams is the community. All the folks who log on and chat in the little chat box are some of the most welcoming, kind, passionate, creative, and friendly folks I have met in this fandom. This is in addition to all the ultra-friendly artists who speak and interact with those of us on the chat. For me personally, I've begun logging into the weekly streams just chat and be with my fellow fans as much as I do so to view the art. I'm welcomed there, and I'm accepted as a happy member of a little group.
Special Props to
Caribou and
Flinters who's communities I've most gotten to know (and thankfully shared between them and many other artists streams). They're awesome people who's personalities have drawn a crowd of equally awesome fans who've been wonderful to interact with. And these two artists are just the begining, as more and more artists are gravitating to the place. Special Special props to
MountainGoat for hosting and building this site.

In other news: Artists you should commission!
Scale still has some open slots in his commission list. Jump on it! He's INCREDIBLE! One of the best artists I've worked with, and one of the most creative and passionate about the ideas you give him.
anbessa An up and coming artist that is getting better and better, and has dome some great commissions for me. Give him a shot! You won't regret it!
Kazen101 A good friend and a damn fine artist. He's done a lot of great work for me, including my FA Avatar. He can do clean and adult, and while he doesn't post much of it, he can do some great 'pairings.' He's got plenty of commission slots open, and he asks for very little compensation. I could not recommend him enough! Go ask him for a slot!

Posted 12 years agoThis year's FC was one of the best I've been to since I started many, many years ago. The con was way, WAY more organized than in previous years. While large, it suffered from a lot of long lines, broken elevators, and crazy crowds. This year the lines moved swiftly, far fewer elevators broke thanks to an army of volunteers organizing the number of folks getting on and off, and everything worked really smoothly. I was worried FC was getting too big to handle itself, but the staff seemed to have really made an effort to improve it.
I obtained a lot of great art from some wonderful artists, which I've slowly started to post. Over the next month you should see the remainder of sketches.
But the best part of the con was meeting some folks I've know about and followed for a long time, but never had the chance to meet in person. Most especially
defenbaugh ,
Smudge ,
dragonsintheattic , and writer/animator Chris Savino. The above artists I've been following for years, and were each among the first artists I discovered and introduced me to furry art and anthro dragons. They all turned out to be absolutely wonderful people. I'd been tweeting back and forth between Chris Savino for awhile, introduced largely through him writing my favorite episodes of Friendship is Magic, and he also turned out to be a super cool, friendly guy. When one meets their heroes, they usually don't turn out to be such kind and fascinating people. This made FC one of the best cons I've been to yet.
Well, that and getting completely sloshed on the party floor with
kazen101 :) .

Posted 13 years agoI've just survived about 3 cons in fairly rapid succession.
Had my first time-ever experience at Rainfurrest last month. Rainfurrest was one of the most organized cons I've been to. Met a lot of great artists there for the first time, and am certainly planning on going back.
Then there was EQLA just two weeks prior. Discovered that the Brony cons and fans are a LOT like Furry fans. Didn't get much art, but met several of the writers and actors from the show, and my goodness they were great, wonderful people!
And Lastly,
caribou 's Homecon is just finishing up as I type. Essentially a large scale art stream across
caribou ,
flinters ,
michelelight and a couple others. It was like a nice little convention, but done from the comfort of your home :) . (If you haven't hop on Caribou's streams and say hi / order a sketch :) ).
As a result, my commission funds have been seriously hit and I won't be able to order much art for awhile. I'm still always on the look out for more artists who love dragons, reptiles and realistic figures, but I'm on the waiting list for awhile.

anbessaLooking for artists to commission
Posted 13 years agoI am in the market for some artists with open commission slots!
You can see examples of the kind of images I commission from my gallery and favorites. I'm a massive fan of dragons and other reptiles (can't you tell?), along with other mythological anthros. I usually commission artistic nudes with a heavy emphasis on realism and natural imperfections. If you want to get paid to draw something other than an impossibly perfect super model, I'm your commissioner .
I tend to give some pretty long and detailed descriptions of my ideas and characters, but I am always after your vision of my idea/character, so I'm always open for re-interpretation and giving artistic freedom.
I know there's plenty of artists out there who are willing and available to draw some fan's dreams-come-true, but no fans are biting. If any such artist, or members who know an artist in such a situation, spots this little journal, fire off a note and let me know!

Prydwen Pre-order RePost
Posted 13 years ago
ladyfoxglove 's comic Prydwen has just gone on pre-order. From her own words:"
OMG!
Sofawolf has pre-orders open for Prydwen #1!
Softcover: https://www.sofawolf.com/products/p.....s-and-monsters
Hardcover: https://www.sofawolf.com/products/p.....ters-hardcover
This is the complete first volume, in FULL COLOR! Also some amazing guest art and cover painted by Balaa!
"
It's rare to get opportunities to purchase published works by one of your all-time-favorite artists. Prydwen sucked me in with its fantastic art and addictively likeable characters, and I'm jumping at the chance to have it all in physical form, and in COLOR! I suggest everyone buy a piece of
ladyfoxglove 's dream, so that she'll be able to publish more and more of the art and stories we love to see her create.
