3D rendering artist.
Posted 8 years agoCan anyone recommend a good 3D rendering artist to make a character I want to 3D print? Must be good with humans. :3
Update!
Posted 9 years agoI officially started a new teaching job at the beginning of June. It’s tiring as heck, and at the opposite side of the capital from where I live, but I love it so far!
The daily work is what I’m already familiar with, plus I’m facing new challenges and experiences that I can tell are potentially rewarding... The minus point is that my foot tendon injury may recur with all that standing/walking (look here), but I’m taking precautions like using a wheeled bag (which is working great so far), not standing through an entire class (what I habitually do), and simply carrying lighter equipment.
Also trying to swap my light notebook for an even lighter tablet, but unsure if it’ll work yet. (Samsung tabs aren’t made to interface with VGA.) I would’ve bought a Microsoft tablet, or even an iPad, if I’d known I’d need it for an LCD projector’s VGA plug.

Commission info (and the lack thereof).
Posted 9 years agoWhat is it with artists who won't answer questions about their commission prices, after reading your note?
If I need to ask, it's because I can't find the info. But they're like: "IF YOU'RE A TRUE FAN YOU'D KNOW THE INFO ALREADY AND I'M NOT STOOPING TO ANSWER YOU."
I understand if you're not taking commissions right now, but have some basic manners, eh? >.>

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7Un2KMA1D7k
These dull aches turn to throbbing pains
What more from this lesson am I to gain?
See the repetition in my history, is it cause for concern?
What is it I'm here for? Must be something that I gotta learn.
They say patience is more than a virtue
Staying guarded so no-one can hurt you
But you will be just fine
If you learn to let go
And just inhale what you need
Exhale all that you don't
When you feel like you've reached the end of your rope
Lessons take some time
Sometimes
Dull aches turn to throbbing pains
What more from this lesson am I to gain?
See the repetition in my history, is it cause for concern?
What is it I'm here for? Must be something that I gotta learn.
Don't think for a second that people will change for ya
They got something to say and that's fine, nothing to brood
I'm not perfect, always learning, the tongue knows what the owner forgets
Speak what you want, what you say is what you will get
Don't be too critical, oh, of your each and every action, oh
'Cos no-one seems to follow the yellow brick road without a distraction
Dull aches turn to throbbing pains
What more from this lesson am I to gain?
What I was, see the repetition in my history, is it cause for concern?
What am I here for? Must be something that I gotta learn.
Whoa...
EDIT: Apparently the word is "prove", not "brood". :/

Night.
Posted 10 years agoI miss the days when Night used to be all mysterious and cool! Like when you’re 10, and 2 a.m. is a forbidden time to be up...
When you were up everything you did was special, and your parents and siblings were asleep and had no idea what you were on about. >:3
Now 2 a.m. is just “Blah, I'm going to be sleepy at work tomorrow!”

The Sandman Chess Set.
Posted 10 years agoI've had a close look at Neil Gaiman's The Sandman Chess Set, and can't figure something out.
There're eight major pieces of each colour, not counting the pawns (who're all Matthew the raven). There're only seven of the Endless.
Who's the eighth guy? It's some fellow wearing glasses and laughing! Has anyone identified him?

Looking for a good calligraphy artist!
Posted 10 years agoDo you know one?
Specifically, I'd like someone who can redesign a short text into a beautiful pattern, suitable for a tribal-style B&W tattoo.
Any suggestions? :3

Fine then, be that way.

Okay, I think I need help with this...
Posted 10 years agoAs mentioned, Twitter locked my account for the apparent reason that it "exhibited automated behaviour". I read that this was a common problem back in February this year (see http://techcrunch.com/2015/02/10/tw.....ccount-locked/), but that the bug had been fixed.
I can't get the unlock code by phone because every time I request it, they never answer.
Help! Does anyone know a contact number/address at Twitter, or at least a forum, that their devs actually read and respond to? My account isn't that old, and hasn't that many followers, but I'd loathe to lose it anyway!
I also don't believe it's something I've done, since:
a) I've never used any kind of automation or bot programme (no matter what they say).
b) I haven't posted offensive or abusive messages of any sort, to anyone.
c) I haven't posted porn, or links to pornographic material, at any time. The occasional double entendre isn't a bannable offence, I hope...?

Twitter account locked!
Posted 10 years agoI've been locked out of my Twitter account since 1 April. :( Apparently the admin decided that my account was "exhibiting automated behaviour". I've been trying to get it unlocked without success (you can apply for an unlock code by phone, but they never send me the code when I ask).
I'm still waiting for their helpdesk to get back to me, but till that happens I'll be totally absent! I can still read other people's tweets, but can't reply, fave, tweet my own messages, or send private messages.

Why I sometimes unwatch or unfollow people...
Posted 11 years agoI do it when I find that they totally, unfailingly, absolutely ignore all the comments I write in reply to their submissions or journals. >.>
Hey, I know that just because I follow someone, they are NOT compelled to talk to me. If you’re a popufur and have 20,000 followers, how could you talk to them all?
But sometimes... sometimes I have an honest question about your art, or about your journal entry. And if you flat out ignore my questions – and do this twenty times out of twenty – the vibe you’re sending is that you are NOT interested in any kind of communication with me.
Which is fine, really! But then I may respond by unfollowing you... And when I do: please don’t respond by losing your temper, tossing sarcastic remarks at me (when you never once bothered to communicate in all the years before!), and then following-unfollowing-following-unfollowing me repeatedly so I get half a dozen “you’ve been unfollowed” messages in my New Watches list. You’re not hiding your ID very well, kiddo. And simply proving that I was right to unfollow you.
If you never wanted ANY communication with me, why get mad when I withdraw? Is your “Watched by” name count that important?
Sad.

So, my new FA user icon...
Posted 12 years agoNot too emo, I hope? >.> That wasn't the impression I aimed for! I slapped some Corel Photo-paint lighting effects on the original, and added a background from a photo.
I like it, though it doesn't catch the eye quite like my blue & yellow lion icon!

Profile ID and user icon.
Posted 12 years agoSo – I decided to switch my user icon, and add a new profile ID to my page. F5 to see the change! Both images were commissioned from
ArcticLion, and may be found in my gallery. The handsome fellow is a protagonist from the novel-length story I’m working on!
Indra the Sun Lion was meant to personify the type of person I wish to be (and I’m not giving him up) – as opposed to my old badger fursona who was the person I am. This Asura demon is a little more complex... a fictional character in his own right, but a character who comes to embody some of the religious/scientific principles I want to explore in the story.
Coolest thing about him? I named him after myself – WITHOUT REALISING IT.
If that’s not a worldly miracle I don’t know what is! :3

I guess he wanted to save the world from antibiotic-resistant death germs. Can't argue with that, but I better not die in the meantime!

Somehow...
Posted 12 years ago...I'm finding it impossible to locate an artist who PERFECTLY captures what I see in my head. >.>
Here on FA I'm spoilt for choice: hundreds of thousands of amazing artists, I've barely scratched the surface, and yet I've never found that one perfect guy/girl who can do it for me, though many come close!
Draw my characters myself, you say? I would, if I'd the talent, which I don't. :/ It's also not really a question of talent, but of style. Think of how E.H. Shepard influenced our imagining of The Wind in the Willows, or John Tenniel our imagining of Alice in Wonderland. That's the sort of stylistic suitability I mean!
Maybe it's a futile effort, though, and no-one can ever really conjure what they see in their heads, with or without other people's help?

Animal mouth bandannas?
Posted 12 years agoCan anyone tell me who was selling those animal mouth bandannas, and if they're still on sale? There was an FA banner advertising them once, and I've seen people post photos of themselves wearing them!
You know the bandannas I mean: when folded and worn properly, they make the lower half of your face look like an animal's, complete with derpy tongue or fangs!
Any ideas?
