General | Posted 5 years agoI'm not really one to interact much or tell much about myself around here, especially since I doubt that many people really notice or care but I'll give a quick update on things.
My little Beastars fanfic series project is not dead, things were going well for a few weeks there and then I kinda went into an emotional downward spiral due to events and kinda burnt myself out. I still have plans to finish the series but I've been keeping myself busy with other things and might not be consistently sticking to my posting schedule of one chapter a week. For those who read it, I hope you enjoy it! I love favs and comments as feedback as well!
Recent events, including this whole quarantine/pandemic, have finally put things into perspective for me. With a new life goal in mind, I hopefully have put myself on a path to a happier future to finally live by myself once and for all instead of relying on others to carry my lazy ass. I'm slowly getting myself into shape for the road ahead so wish me luck!
Hope everyone is keeping safe with the Covid-19, and don't be down on yourself for feeling depressed or sad or being really bummed about it, we're all experiencing it. Make sure to wash your hands, cover your face in public and keep a safe distance from others.
As for other recent events, I unequivocally believe that Black Lives Matter! There is no place for racism and you shouldn't stand by and let it be.

New Story/Series is starting!
General | Posted 5 years agoJust giving a shameless plug that I've started by releasing the first quick chapter of the Beastars story that I've been working on. Hopefully I can keep a regular release schedule and keep it going for a while!
It's not set in the same place as the series so any new fans don't have to worry about spoilers (I'll try to keep any world-building spoilers to a min) and any of the older ones can enjoy the world, seeing where it goes with different characters.

A Quick Update!
General | Posted 5 years agoI think I've finally gotten into a writing mood, with a little inspiration from my recent interest in Beastars (No manga spoilers!), which hopefully means I can start pumping out a few story ideas with some regular chapters in the near future. Think I got a few interesting ideas that will be very entertaining and finally bust me out a creative rut I've put myself in for a while. Here's hoping it keeps me running on all cylinders.
Beastars **Warning Spoilers!**
General | Posted 5 years agoWell, it's been forever since I've done a journal and since it's something I rarely do anyways, I decided to make it about something special I recently enjoyed. It's been a little bit since the international release date, so I decided to do a little review of it since I'm sure it's saturated already. Since I haven't read the manga, which is still ongoing, and the anime obviously skipped over or is saving stuff for later, please do not jump in on spoilers if you've read the manga. Spoiler comments will be deleted.
Overall
I absolutely love this series, Beastars has a dark Zootopia vibe to it, with very interesting complex characters with plenty of intrigue, romance and violence to keep it all going. The artwork is gorgeous! It's a good start with some minor issues that you can overlook with the hopeful assumption that things will be explained and any production problems will be fixed by next season.
Plot
So season 1 has basically been the introduction to the series, especially to those like me who have not read the manga. So, to make a long story short I'd describe it as: star-crossed awkward and tense teenage lovers form an awkward lovers triangle during a tumultuous time in their adolescent years whilst bad stuff goes on around them.
It's been a good plot, from introducing the intrigue of Tem's murder, the onstage fight between Legoshi and Bill, to the showdown with the Mishigumi, its been pretty engaging. The romance between Legoshi and Haru is interesting enough in the usual melodramatic way of having ups and downs; will-they won't they, though their internal monologues are really the driving force of how interesting they can be with all their anxieties and sexual tension. If anything this was probably done to really establish their relationship before expanding to other things by next season.
Whilst the murder mystery being put on the back-burner was a little bit of a bummer, I understand the reasoning behind it, and it has intrigued me where it will go with the clues they've handed out so far.
Characters
Basically everyone is either a self-hating mess or outwardly confident but internally nervous wreck, peppered with douchebag types, so it's the perfect high school ensemble. Also I loved it!
The main cast work well, particularly in how much they are the same but also in their differences. Whilst Legoshi, Haru and Louis all share certain anxieties and beliefs you can tell that their different personalities are going to lead them down different routes, probably to the same end.
Legoshi wants to fit in despite essentially having to always be in control of his predatory instincts and his temper.
Haru wants to be treated as an equal and individual despite her helpless size/appearance.
Louis is the controlling ruthless prince of the school, traumatized at youth and basically being groomed for the life of leadership whilst having very clear bias against carnivores and by all accounts has thrown it all away to "do what must be done" and "to make a point".
They all will no doubt be making the next season an interesting one when in all probability we will be seeing the fallout of the events of season 1 and the investigation into who killed Tem is underway.
World-building
Probably the most anemic aspect of the anime is the world-building, much like Zootopia it throws out certain concepts but either doesn't explain how they work or contradict them later. Indeed, whilst the anime does go a little into detail on some things, it tends to raise more questions than it answers. Now, this of course can be attributed to adapting a known source to the screen, so how much they assume the audience already knows or simply have to cut for time is understandable.
That being said, so far the world-building has at least been decent. The protein-heavy diets of carnivores, the taboos and crimes between carnivores and herbivores, the blackmarket and the consequences of carnivores getting a taste for meat, the relationship between carnivores and herbivores, and the hints at the politics of the world, they all work though they leave open further questions.
It was a missed opportunity to use the school to actually teach us how the world works and basically undercut the school's existence to little more than their home for the season. Hopefully the next season addresses some of this and the world-building as a whole.
Art style, Direction and Technical Stuff
As I've said already, the art is amazing in its own right. Clearly a lot of effort went into it to make it look so good and give this series life. No doubt some of the scenes were obviously lifted from the manga for their 'iconic' look. They follow the usual anime style as far as facial emotional expressions go, though probably not diving into it as deeply as other animes have.
There are some questionable directorial choices for the transitions and time framing. If you weren't paying attention, you'd forget this story is taking place between May and July before rushing to the end of August in the last few minutes, and that some scenes were flashbacks to stuff that happened previously. There was at least one cut/transition in the middle of a conversation! I'm going to assume either inexperienced or rushed decisions led to these choices. Overall they luckily do not hurt the series in any way that makes it incomprehensible.
Predictions!
The main trio are going to be finding themselves being pushed towards the Beastar mantle one way or another, which means dealing with the mayor and principal, probably Louis' father and his industrial empire, and thus we finally really get into the politics of this world as Legoshi moves towards leaving school.
Probably no sex between Haru or Legoshi, just more melodrama about how they need to get over their instincts and awkwardness whilst living apart since he'll still be in school. The love between Louis and Haru will no doubt be the next big issue they need to get over; though I won't rule out a polyamorous relationship just yet.
We're going to get more of Legoshi's past, considering it was largely overlooked. I'm sure it'll be a mixture of sad and odd considering that's been his life story.
I'm sure Haru will have to deal with all the extra drama entering her life along with whatever else gets thrown in to try and break her will to live. Possibly get some more back story but we'll see. I'm guessing she'll be finding a place to live and will be getting a job as a florist or at least something menial to hold her over till then.
Louis is gonna have to deal with the fallout of his actions; at the least from his father, probably become the new head of the gang he just executed using his experience as the iron-fisted ruthless head of the drama club. I'm sure the female betrothed to him will make an appearance. He'll probably do plenty to cause problems for Legoshi but we'll see how they get along over the course of the season.
Juno is going to be Louis' replacement at drama club and will probably be doing her worst to try and break Legoshi into loving her. If anything she'll probably try to become the Beastar that Louis threw away. She'll be the big problem inside the school for the loving couple.
The Murderer: No doubt the entire next season will be everyone searching for the identity. Whether or not there is another murder, I'm guessing they might not figure it out till the very end or if they're really ambitious they'll solve it but can't prove it/a cover-up. I don't think they'll resolve it in one season but maybe I'm just thinking too hard on drama formula.
As far as current hints go, I'm guessing it's probably Bill.

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays
General | Posted 7 years agoI'd just like to thank everyone who continues to watch me for all the art I commission, or even those who are hoping I'll have a new story up sometime or add more to my characters. I know, I'm terrible at keeping in touch with any of you who follow me, and I'm also not as industrious when it comes to rolling out my own content.
I wish you all a very Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!

Some Character Updates
General | Posted 7 years agoSo, I've updated the character folders with a bare minimum of some stats, though sadly I haven't added any sexual stats yet, nor do most of them have any basic background. Just in case there's any confusion, yes their last names are not public knowledge yet so you will not get them. Perhaps sometime in the future.~
Cheap Refs!
General | Posted 8 years agoJust giving a shout out for anyone who likes or wants to have ref sheets for their characters but are a little bit strapped for cash. I know
Skully666 is currently offering to do some for a fairly cheap price and she has a very good art style. I'd recommend at least checking it out to see if you're interested.

Expanding the Character Family
General | Posted 8 years agoHey all!
As you no doubt can see, I've gone through an expansion of some new additions to the character family and I'll be having some new art put up in the near future. However, I think I should get around to building some canon backstories to these characters and maybe adding some stories as well (canon and non).
Of course, I'm notoriously bad at following through on my planned writing commitments and it seems my collection of art is what is really drawing attention. Hopefully I can bring in some stuff that will be entertaining and enjoyable for all.

To those that read my stories
General | Posted 8 years agoSo, basically I've been a little lazy over the past month, focusing more on getting commissions than doing any writing. I have had a little writers block in how I want my ITNOTK series to be structured. So far, I like doing a couple mini-series' of short stories that are related. They are essentially chapters, but I'm toying with the idea of them not being considered one great story, but a series of stories. Thus they are being written and published the way they are. So I should be getting on that.
Essentially, I'll be finishing the intro mini-series with Jamie's character within one or two more stories, so I'm excited to get to the end of that. I plan on keeping some of my older stuff in relation to my Baltarus character, but the mini-series around him and his family should be a little longer.
As far as reading goes, anyone care whether I upload a file or place it in the description? I do both already, but I was wondering if anyone has any thoughts on whether there is a more 'reader friendly' option of the two.

Recent Rampage of Uploads and New Character
General | Posted 8 years agoAfter acquiring a new character a few days ago, I decided to finally get around to posting the numerous commissions I've collected over the past few years of Amber before I start posting others. I think I got them all but if anyone sees any artworks with Amber in them that's not in my gallery, let me know.
As I mentioned, I've adopted a new character, Kalifa and will be posting her pics in the next few days. I haven't forgotten about any of my other characters, just gonna show off the new model for a little before turning everything into group fun~

Announcement of My Grand Return! :D
General | Posted 9 years agoTo all of my followers and any casual lurker that passes me by, I'd just like to say that after two years since I last did any of my own work, I plan on returning sometime soon and getting back into the groove of writing stories again!~
I've been meaning to come back for a while, but being busy and lazy will slow you down. I realize that I'm not the most reliable of people here on FA but I think I can pull a few short stories out before getting into anything too dramatic or taxing.
As far as writing projects that I have in mind:
The In the Name of the King series that I had started a few years back went into a bit of a deep freeze largely because I felt I was slumping into a lazy rip-off fanfic territory with my story and characters. I plan on returning to this series and I'll probably update it and hopefully get into deeper detail, as well as a much bigger plot. I still plan to use some of the characters from all the artists I asked as background or exotic additions. Who knows, I might even grab some more followers out of it.
As far as any other long-term stories I have in mind:
Post-Apocalyptic future where the world has regressed into a medieval style world.
I've been interested in doing a sci-fi story similar to Firefly following the adventures of an odd-couple crew that travel around the universe in the quest for more money.
I've been interested in doing a military sci-fi series for a long time, and I hope to get around to that.
Short Stories - I've implied I will be using my Amber character and I intend to at least begin using her.
I also plan on making a more canon universe for my Fursona and other characters to inhabit, which should come across in these stories.
Anyways, that's me coming back to the world of the active living artists/writers on here instead of just lurking around and watching others.

The Plan and Welcoming any Character Requests
General | Posted 11 years agoAs I may have promised a few months back, my full attention on my new In the Name of the King series resulted in the posting of the introduction just before New Years. In the interregnum since, I have been pulling together character personalities from those whose characters I have the permission of using, alongside those of my own creation.
The plan was originally to have a new part done and posted each month; an ambitious undertaking for me. Now, that being said, the first month of the new year has passed and I'm only about half done the next installment, thus my more solid planning would be that every TWO months is a more feasible option.
Also, for anyone who enjoys In the Name of the King or might know someone who does, by all means advertise it. And whoever wishes to pitch a character at me that they would like to see in the series need only ask, it will have a large cast of characters and I love seeing anything new.
Now, just in case anyone is unaware of what the In the Name of the King series is or what it's about:
It is a medieval-fantasy fiction influenced by the A Song of Ice and Fire and Wheel of Time series, where there will be lots of political intrigue, backstabbing, war, politics, power struggles and lust. Unlike the more, shall we say smut driven stories, this one will not have a great emphasis upon sex, though it will be in there, and will be focused more on characters.
Well, even though it's a month after the fact, I wish you all a happy new year and hope that you enjoy my works.

General | Posted 11 years agoAs I am finally thinking of getting back into the writing gig and wish to have a few illustrations to go with it. I find myself in the predicament of being a lousy artist, especially in comparison to my writing, but really wanting to have said illustrations.
Thus, not in any desperate need at present, I wish to post that if anyone is interested, or knows someone who may be interested, then they can contact me for any further discussion.
As the title suggests, I'm thinking of having a medievalist series; with inspirations coming from A Song of Fire and Ice and Wheel of Time, so you know there will be plenty of fun for all involved.

Get your character drawn by Kadath, FREE commission raffle!
General | Posted 12 years agoRepost of Kadath's Original Journal.
This is a special raffle for
jazzpaintball. He commissioned me for a colour sketch commission at Rainfurrest, and he wants it to be a two character piece of somebody with his character (clean or adult context). He has PAID IN ADVANCE for the second character and wanted to put up a FREE raffle to have that character chosen from entries in this journal.
If you want to enter the raffle, these are the rules for entry:
Post a comment in this journal with the following information:
References of your character
Image rating (clean, mature, adult)
Theme, if any (example: playing videogames)
OPTIONAL: Spread the word about this journal through your own journal, and put your journal link in your comment. This will get you TWO entries for the raffle. (comments in other journals do not count for entries)
Waffles' character reference: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/11705569/
His character is straight, so if you want the image to be adult, he will only be featured with females. If a clean picture, any gender is fine.
I will not draw extreme stuff like scat, vore, cub, etc...if you've seen my art, you know the drill. If unsure about something, just ask.
Again, this commission has already been paid for. You're getting your character drawn for free if you get chosen. Winner will be randomly chosen using a number generator.
If you have questions about theme, content, etc., pleaase contact :Waffles: on his FA page:
