In trying to figure out how many of these to print if I sold these for like $2 bucks how many of you would consider picking one up? They are 2.25 inches tall full color. They are't the HUGE buttons these are about the size of a silver dollar. large enough to see the center image nicely but not too big. I personally don't like huge buttons. I'm tying to figure out what a good print run size. I plan to be selling them at the cons but I may also mail some out if people are interested. Since 2012 is a election year I thought it would be a nice way to display your furry political view point. I may make a 3rd button too depending on the response I get with these.

Thankfully the first unpleasant part of this holiday season is done over with and just 2 more to go, but I suppose I am thankful for some things this year and I wanted to take this opportunity to express what I am thankful for.

As some of you know 2011 has been a very hectic and difficult year for me and through the most darkest times in my life I've come to realize a few things. The first most important thing I learned was how to appreciated the friends who were there for me when I had no one else to turn to. It's sad how so many people use the term "friend" or "best friend' so loosely and unfortunately this year I learned where I stood with many of my "friend". True, It's always nice to have friends in the good times but what I believe defines a true friend is some one who is there for you thought not only the good times but also there for you in the bad time. At this point of my life i am done with fair weather friends and I appreciate the friends who didn't abandon me when I needed them the most.

There were many "friends" of mine who I was there for when they went through some tough times. I was there for them when they needed me wether it was financial or moral support I was there when they needed me and it hurt to have those same friends abandon me when the tables were turned and now I needed them. To those people I must say good bye and wish them well, I only hope you never know what its like to feel the empty feeling of being abandoned by fiends you thought cared about you,

To those of you who stood by me I would like express my thanks. You have made dealing with the recent hardships of life a bit more bearable. I know I'm not the easiest person to be friends with and I often have a hard time expressing myself but I think today was a good opportunity to share how I feel about those special people.

 Mongoose_Ink - I think Mitch is probably the only one who understands how difficult it is to be my friend but despite how many things we usually are at odds about at the end of the day he's still there when I need moral support. Thanks for putting up with me.

 buckhopper - Jake I wanted to say thank for being a good friend No matter how much I vented I knew you were always there to hear me out. I went through some extremely tough times this year and you have no Idea how much just having some one to talk to helped. You can always tell who your true friends are when you go thought the darkest times your true friends are there to see you through. It seems like I never have a problem finding friends when its all about the good times and hanging out, those "friends" are a dime a dozen, but its people like you who are true friends, who still want to talk and hang out even if its to hear some one vent. Thank you for that.

 quickxyk Eric, thanks for being a good friend. I appreciate your kindness and your optimism. I also admire your ability to look on the "bright side" of things.

Well here we go again, it's that time of year again that is the most annoying of all. The Holiday season.. which means Thanksgiving and Christmas. How i wish I could just jump from Nov 1st directly to Feb 1st. Personally, I could really do with out November, December and January.

There's nothing like the Holiday season to bring out the worse and phoniness in people. As if it wasn't bad enough that people are cruel and phony year round, they had to go and set aside special holidays to showcase it. While I applaud the intentions of the holiday season, from my experience it does nothing more then show how cruel and phony people can be to each other or gives them an opportunity to try and convince others (or themselves) they are good people. Sorry if a person can't be kind or civil to their fellow man (or family) year round then don't expect 2 months out of the year to make up for 10 months worth of being an a cruel inconsiderate ass.

I know this probably doesn't apply to every one but unfortunately I have yet to be proven wrong. Enjoy your "Holiday Season", as for me, I'm gonna sit these next 3 months out. See you February 1st folks!

I guess this is as good a place to post this so here goes. For those of you who were wondering, at the rate things have been deteriorating with my "friends" it looks like Furry Fiesta 2012 possibly Rainfurrest 2012 will be my last furry convention, unless things drastically change (which I highly doubt) The reason for this is because I'm really not seeing a point or a reason to continue doing this anymore. At first it seemed like a place to build friendships and hang with people who have similar interests ect. but as the years have gone by I am starting to see that a lot of what I have found in furry has no real substance and I am finding that I have very little in common with people in the furry community. Don't get me wrong there are some of you out there that I will miss very very much and to you I only wish you the very best.

The main reason that caused me to reach this decision is that as you may or may not know, I recently reached a critical point in my life that has allowed me to see things much clearer than I had previosly seen things (being faced with the specter of death tends to have that affect on a person). In that darkest time in my life it became extremely clear to me who were my true friends and who, to my dismay turned out to simply be friends either out of obligation or convenience. In these past few months i have been evaluating my life, and thinking about the impact or diffence I have made in the 41 years I've been on this earth, and honestly the reality of the conclusions I reached made me rethink my life. Also, realizing that I might be leaving this world only to find out no one would even know or care I was gone was a painful realization to me. Compounding the problem was the fact I had no family or support structure to turn in my time of need and on top of that to find out people who i cared very deeply for and who I honestly thought cared hurt me more than I can bare. All that and the possibity of dying age 41, alone. I hope you will never know the pain of feeling like you are alone in the world, its the worse felling ever. Anyhow those are the facts. That being said, those of you who truely know me understand the reasons I tend not to be quick to open up to people. It's for those same reasons I need to step back to reset a lot of areas of my life. I know my true friends will continue to talk to me and continue being friends, while the "fair weather" friends will quickly dismiss me or find reason to avoid me and eventually stop talking to me altogether honestly I welcome that purge and I wish you the best. I honestly don't wish to upset anyone nor am I mad at anyone. Some of you will never truly know how much you meant to me while others I know now will have no problem writting just me off and I suppose you have that right too and you are free to do so. I guess what saddens me is how quick people are to do that depite everything you go through with them it's all meaningless, I suppose at the end of the day when things get dark and troublesome you quickly find out who your real friends are and which friends had no really substance there beyond you being someone to talk to to keep them from being bored or being someone to hang out until something better came along. A sad but true reality with a lot of people.

So, what's next? Well for now I need to focus my efforts on things that are more productive and have more substance. I also need to focus in my health so I don't truly wind up dead this time. It's been an intresting run for me and while I have made a few friends here I feel the majority of my experiences with people in the furry community have caused me more heartache than joy and with no pun intended I feel the "cons" have finally out weighed the pros for continuing down this path. I truly wish you all the best and I hope you find all the joy and happiness life can offer. Just never forget what's important in life.

Thanks to those of you who we kind enough to support me as an artist. I really appreciate it but I have run my course and I need to cut my losses and put this part of my life behind me. This path clearly has no future for me. Good bye and best wishes.

Ok I'm done here too. Getting really tired of people's hypocrisy. I really dont need it and frankly I'm done dealing with it. Sorry I know this doesn't apply to everyone but this is a damn magnet for grief and really am tired of dealing with it. Sorry.

These past few weeks have probably been the most trying times of my life I think only a few people have known exactly what's been going on with me, its not that I've been trying to be mysterious or secretive but I honestly didn't know how to talk about this. Even bringing this up with friends was awkward, I would get the reaction of "Well good luck with that" or "Not sure what to tell you" so I usually didn't push the matter. I was quickly finding out where I stood with some people when I really needed a support base.

As some of you know, my family doesn't really care that I exist and the main reason I left California and moved out to Texas was get away from that situation so I don't have much of a support base beyond the few close friends I have. In those past few weeks I got to find out where I stand with them.

Since this is a topic I wouldn't be able to avoid much longer (and its going to be obvious to some) I thought it would be best to post things here and just say how I feel, though I'm not sure if this will make much of a difference to my situation. About 3 or 4 weeks ago I went to see a doctor regarding a persistent cough I was having, in the process the doctor x-rayed my chest to make sure there wasn't fluid in my lungs. Well there was fluid as he suspected and gave me some medicine for mild case of Bronchitis that I had...However, he saw more in regards to my heart and that was the beginning of a month long roller coster of doctors visits and many possible diagnosis that weren't looking very promising.

First my general practice doctor did a standard EKG and along with the x-ray data felt that I could have possible congestive heart failure and then sent me to get further tests at Arlington Memorial Hospital (a 2nd opinion) so I spend the next week waiting to do another EKG at Arlington memorial to confirm this. For those of you wondering what that is.. Congestive Heart Failure is basically fatal. In addition to that I've had a sonar examination of my heart, 3 more EKGs, 2 3D images made of my hear, 2 stress tests, 3 blood works done and 2 more x-rays of my chest, not a fun month. Each test brought more speculation and concern. So that's how I spent my last 4 weeks all coming down to this Angioplasty procedure.

So now I spent these last 4 weeks thinking about making a will and pondering what i've accomplished in life and being faced with the possibility I might be dying didn't do much for my outlook on life. The conclusions I made during that time only served to depress me. I don't know what was worse for me though.. whether it was the feeling of possibly dying and not having accomplished things in life I wanted to accomplish or the feeling of knowing I'd be gone and no one would really miss me. I also learned that it's true what they say when you are faced with your mortality you really start to see whats important in life.

What was also distressing for me was with how when i needed to talk to my friends about how I was feeling it seemed to just bother some of them. Then they seemed to avoid the topic when I brought it up. Others I couldn't even tell because I know all they would be concerned about is how my dying would affect them. I wouldn't wish that feeling I felt these past few weeks on my worse enemy. The reactions I got from some "friends" sort of made me feel selfish for wanting to know they cared. I guess I got my answer. I have been though a very terrifying time in my life and If getting depressed over news I might be dying or might need major heart surgery makes one emotional then I honestly don't know how I am supposed to react to that kind of news. I guess easy to say that when its not you who is going though it. I was hoping to get some moral support in a very trying time and was quickly finding out how much moral support i actually had. Anyhow now you know and I suppose I now know where I stand with some people.

FYI, I'll be out of commission for a few weeks that's why I had to put the Hodges Pond comic strip on hold, I also get to find out on Thursday if I am going to need open heart surgery or if the procedure on Thursday will be enough to fix what they are seeing. I hope its not as bad as I think but according to my Doctor he feels that there is a strong possibility for bypass surgery but he really wouldn't know until he completes the procedure on Thursday. anyhow Sorry if I bugged some of you with this but now you know why i've been a bit distracted.

Hey I have a question for other artist who attended MFF 2010. Normally I do fairly well at cons but MFF was the exception , at first I thought maybe I had a bad con and that It was just me but after asking other artist this questions, I'm starting to hear more and more how much the Dealers Den sucked this year for a lot of people who were dealers. For some odd reason sales were particularly low this year. (Unlike other years) for me this used to be a very profitable con. After polling a few people and doing a little research I may have found out what caused this and I guess this Journal post is to get some feed back on what everyone else thought. Here is what I heard..

People thought Artist Alley WAS the dealers den and no one knew the actual dealer den was in the "Dungeon / Basement" with no clear signage.

Artist alley was so HUGE it basically was a 2nd dealers den and was in direct competition with dealers who actually PAID to be vendors at the convention.

Now don't get me wrong Im all for having an artist alley I think that's cool but what I had a problem with was how HUGE they decided to make artist alley this year. Did they just lose sight of the purpose of artist alley vs what a dealers den is supposed to be? What made it worse was when this matter was raised to the MFF dealer den staff and con chair the concerns went unaddressed and ignored. I think this was very disrespectful to their paying dealers to create an artist alley that was virtually a large as their dealers den. Im frankly worried about attending next year, however If i do I think Im going to opt to save myself the price of a dealers table and just get an Artist Alley spot for free. They seemed to have gotten a much better location than the dealers den and the best part it was FREE. However due to this bad experience an no assurance or confidence that they will not repeat this in 2011, I have decided to drop MFF from my annual convention list and replace it with Anthro-con (not sure if will be the same scenario there but I've never been there so its worth a try)

Anyhow thats all I wanted to say. Anyone else who was a dealer at MFF have any similar experiences? Did anyone else who attended know the dealer den was in the basement or Thought artist alley WAS the dealers den? Id like to hear your feedback. I may make a 3d attempt to make MFF dealers den staff aware of this issue.

On a good note tho, I know some people did fairly well so i'm not complaining I'm just trying to figure out what caused the big shift in sales this year and trying to alert MFF of a potential conflict of interest between the dealers den and Artist alley.

Well I had this year I my birthday over FC and maybe that wasn't the best time to have it. While the con sales wise was ok a lot of what I was looking forward to didn't happen. Thursday started off ok but ended up talking about sports and FBA so I was mostly a spectator as I have no idea what everyone else was taking about. Although, dinner was nice we had dinner at the old spaghetti factory, Sadly, little did I know that would be my last formal meal of the con. As the con began I spent all day Friday in the den (with no breakfast or lunch) and since every one I was with had already had earlier dinner plans the only option I had for dinner was Nachos by the skating ring. Saturday came around and spent the day again in the den. Every one headed off to dinner and meetings and once again no dinner.. Sunday more of the same unfortunately this time I had to pass on dinner again because I wanted to finish some last minuet stuff so hopefully I could be freed up so enjoy my birthday with my friends.

Things started to look promising when they returned with a cake which was a nice gesture, but no sooner had they arrived, everyone had to go because of other plans so any birthday festivities were postponed until after the FBA party which was ok by me. Well needless to say the party went on until 2 am by the time things were done no one seemed to care and about doing anything else went to bed and that was the night.

Now Sunday came and it was time to go home and no one seemed to want to continue what they started the night before and that was the end of my con. I never even got to have any of my birthday cake or spend some time with my friends like I wanted to. It would have been nice to spend my birthday with my friends but I guess cons only come once a year.

Needless to say I spent most if the con very frustrated I guess it was too much to expect some one to at least want to spend a few minuets with me. Yea.. Another birthday happy birthday to me. So, now you know why I despise Thanksgiving, Christmas and Birthdays, i despise them for the simple fact that they only serve to remind you how insignificant or unimportant you really are to people especially when its people who you perceive as close friends. Maybe I'm just assuming too much and perhaps that is my problem.

I'm sorry for the post but I'm feeling a but hurt at the moment. Nothing hurts more than when it's done by people who you think would care that you exist.
