Next Saturday September 19th is International Talk Like a Pirate Day. Unfortunately that will not be a stream weekend, so we'll be celebrating it one week early on Picarto starting at 5:30pm Pacific.

Okay apparently there is a misconception and I want to clarify it for folks. When I posted my journal yesterday explaining my need to suspend dreamscape posting for awhile I got several comments through various channels that went more or less like this:

Oh I assumed your dreamscape pieces were not for sale. Some of these folks had in the past looked at those pieces in portfolios of mine at cons with prices clearly marked on their pages?

Now I thought it was clearly understood that unless a piece was labeled as for a commission or a Patreon reward that it was available for purchase. Apparently that was not clear enough, so in the future I will be including a tag in the posting that will say something like:

This piece is available for purchase. If you are interested please contact via Direct Message, Note, Chat, or Email.

I don't do as much dreamscape posting here on FA because it's clunky site for doing things linking past posts to present, and because I've been burned 3 times with FA losing data and I am tired of trying to reconstruct afterwards. But FA followers may notice a slight change in the content posted here as a result of changes I have been required to make. Here's the whole deal.

I hate to have write this, but for the immediate future, at least the next few of months, I will be suspending all Equestria and RESF dreamscape postings. This is for several reasons.

First. I need to get caught up on overdue Patreon reward pieces. I know many look forward to the dreamscape postings. Some of you became patrons because of it, but I have obligations to my patrons who I owe backlogged work too. This is a contractual obligation.

Second. I need to clear my commission docket. I want to reduce its backlog as well so I am down to smaller selection of outstanding pieces.

Third. Recently I've needed to more time to take of RL related things. Some medical, none life-threatening, and other mundane tasks that have been postponed or put off.

Fourth. And in many ways this is the saddest. Is the fact that most of the dreamscape art never sells. I can do speculative pinup art all day and find buyers for them. Yes I do sell some of the art that is used for my dreamscape postings, but majority of it does not, and I have the packed portfolios and organizers to proof it.

Like everyone else prices are going up for me and I need to make ends meet. For awhile I could absorb those pieces as a loss leader. A type of advertising for my work, but at the moment I cannot.

Now if I can get my work schedule and finances worked around then I will resume them, and do hope I can in the near future. But for now I have to make the ends meet, and fulfill my obiligations to folks who in good faith have given me money in the expectation of art for it.

I will leave you with a thought. Technically I have 10,000+ followers on Deviant Art. Yes many are old, abandoned, zombie accounts. But if even a half followers there gave me just $1.00 USD a month. Just 3.3 cents a day, this situation would vanish.

It's the start of the Labor Day Weekend in the States. When I was a kid Labor Day also heralded the beginning of back-to-school for the fall semester. So tonight 8/30/25 starting at 5:30pm Pacific we're going to be sharpening our pencils and packing our lunches and celebrating it on Picarto.

In the States this upcomimg weekend is Labor Day Weekend, and when I was growing up Labor Day represented the end of Summer Vacation. Because school started on the Tuesday after it. So this weekend we'll be knocking the cobwebs out of our brains and getting back in the classroom.
