BÉKÉ ORIGINAL SPECIES INFORMATION SHEET
Posted 11 years agoBéké (bae-kae)
loosely based off of bird of paradise species (not limited to but mainly King of Saxony Bird of Paradise and Queen Carola’s Parotia) and eastern dragons
★ Image Example ! ★
Physical Characteristics
★ Humanoid in shape, békés are quite large creatures that are bonded to an element either depicting their origin, or as a hybrid of their inheritance. This shows in the wafting of their hair and the ends of their tails which depending on their element breaks off into leaf like shapes, fire, diamond esque shapes etc
★ Markings depict their element and are bunched mainly around the shoulders and upper arm, thighs, knees, buttocks, hands, nipples and forehead (rare).
★ Their nipple shape also reflects their element taking the shape of a star, orange slice, moon, leaf etc
★ Eyes are incredibly sharp and are ringed with at least two different colours.
★ Depending on their origin, they can be covered in a light matte of fur which is normally at its thickest around the neck connecting to their sideburns, their lower back and their tails. It is common to have a medium sized neck tuff, however if a béké is of lower origin (class) or ranges from the sea, fur is generally lighter/non-existent.
★ Below the knee, fur is replaced by light scales.
★ Sharp canines due to their typically carnivorous diet. However some underbites and overbites are common and are wanted amongst many due to their more threatening appearance.
★ Their feelers are their hearing apparatus which utilize hypersensitivity to vibrations to listen. They move with interest and are more often than not used to brush the face of another béké as a greeting or act of friendship rather than shake hands. Lapels, though more rare are additional feelers that commonly grow from the base of the neck and above the tail.
★ A species originating from the sea, every béké is born with at least one set of gills on their rib area. The colour shown through is the same colour as their blood and their saliva.
☆ Double sets of arms are possible but extremely rare, and so when a béké is found with such a characteristic they are considered closer to a divine being that anything else.
☆ Another divine characteristic includes the appearance of multiple eyes on areas of the body such as the palm of the hands, the back of the hands and forehead. This characteristic is extremely rare.
☆ Female békés do not grow breasts and are flat chested.

Biology and Behaviour
Hunting
Carnivores in diet, they prey on whatever meat source is available within the area. They eat in copious amounts, consuming even the bones of their prey.
Habitat
Békés have adapted to live in most climates and ecosystems, but are commonly found in high mountain ranges, or by cliffs near the shore.
Behaviour
★ Béké’s are a very territorial and can be a very aggressive species to both other species, and towards each other. A simple play fight more often than not turns into a match to the death with their extremely sharp claws and teeth.
★ An extremely prideful species, they may have an unsaid hierarchy within themselves, they refuse to be looked down upon by any other species and is more often than not the top species of the food chain within their ecosystem.
★ Virtually deaf, feelers are used as a greeting to others with a pat to the face.
★ They have the ability of normal speech but they speak very softly due to the fact that their feelers are hypersensitive to sound. For this reason, hissing/growling/shouting at another béké is seen as a serious threat and offense.
★ Young children commonly use their powerful tails as a third limb, or as a seat when leaning back.
Mating + Courtship
★ A species open for choice of mate, it is not uncommon for a béké to have multiple lovers in one go. However for those who choose to stay with one lover tend to be the source of envy amongst many.
★ Lovers tend to intertwine their feelers and tails when amorous.
★ A pheromone while in the throes of passion is normally released by both parties causing an over stimulation of the senses. In reaction, rubbing of the skin to release more is normally done, in addition to sealing off the room where the persons are as the pheromone bothers normal passer-by’s.
★ Once a year a feminine béké has the opportunity to become pregnant within 2-3 day period and this time changes per person.
★ Babies are born as eggs- normally just one or two at most and hatch within 3-4 months. A mother with eggs is said to be at her most volatile and strongest of the species within the 6 month pregnancy and 3-4 month egg rearing period.
★ Same sex relationships are free game and are encouraged because of sexual freedom
Hierarchy and Mythology
★ Those with rarer features are said to have more social power than others and is not limited to sex. This hierarchy is as a result of extremely rare features being closer to god with multiple eyes, and double arms and as such individuals with these features are commonly found at the top of the pamper ladder, or as mediums for higher spirits within temples. Despite this social power, they hold little political power as intelligence is highly treasured amongst béké.
