Looks like I'm gonna be coming home to Burlington, IA on a daily basis for a while, hauling fly ash & limestone between Keokuk & Buffalo (Scott County), IA. I should be back to regular OTR as late as October (if they keep me on this route) due to the Keokuk plant shutting down for 6-8 weeks though.

Just before we were hit by an extreme thunderstorm (I'm okay, just had a power outage for 2 hours and had to take shelter when the air raid sirens went off), Sterling Transportation called me with the news I've been waiting a week for! Tomorrow, I go to the hospital for a DOT physical (I already have one, but the company wants me to take another one for their files), then Tuesday morning, I do down to Ft. Originally I thought I was going to be in Oskaloosa for several days like other trucking orientations I had been to in the past, but this was not the case. It was just an interview and driving test, which I hear that I passed. Afterward, they had someone drive me back to Burlington and now I need to wait for a call from H.R. to have the full orientation arranged at their main terminal in Blair, NE. It should only be a day or 2 before I know when that will be. I was also told that I will most likely be assigned to a dedicated route between Davenport, IA and Keokuk, IA which would eventually mean more home time (Burlington is right on that route). I'm excited about this, honestly, because even though it's a more local route, it would still be full time and the money would definitely add up!

Tomorrow, I'll be headed up to Oskaloosa, IA (halfway between Ottumwa and Pella, for those who don't know where it is) to start a new trucking job! Carny no more, back to being a regular OTR trucker!

Last night after years of seeing images of Lt. M'ress, I decided to watch a couple of Star Trek: the Animated Series episodes she was in. Voice-wise, she mostly sounded brainwashed and almost as emotionless as Spock (but in a few scenes, showed a sense of humor). With how she was drawn and animated though, she looked like she was always high. Final analysis: I don't think I'd bang her, but she might at least be worth getting high with!

As I've now scratched the surface on my Furlander comic project, I'm considering the following possible stories for the 1st arc:

"Encino Cat" - An immortal sabre-toothed tiger is thawed out after being frozen in ice for thousands of years, going on a barbaric rampage until he gets more understanding of the modern world.

"Threat of the Glutton" - A prequel to "The Glutton & the Skunk," which I wrote 3 years ago where a young immortal rabbit is spared by Ian McGlutton, but loses all of his family to him instead. Years later, Roderick MacVulp finds him living on the streets and takes him in as a protege, until "The Glutton" finds both of them in New Orleans.

"Agent MacVulp" - A Watcher working for the federal government discovers that an immortal is behind a terrorist plot to bomb much of Chicago so he enlists the help of Roderick MacVulp to try to stop him, knowing that most mortals can't kill him.

As a reminder, Furlander goes by the same concepts as Highlander, where immortals can't die unless decapitated, etc.

For those who don't know, I left the carnivals about 3 weeks ago and am back home in Burlington, IA, currently trying to find another job and borrowing my parents' laptop in the meantime. My cell phone is back on too, which does help a lot. As for FBA coaching, returning to that position right now would be a major gamble as I'm trying to get back into OTR truck driving which may mean another temporary offline hiatus soon. As soon as situations improve, I'll pursue a return to that. FLB & FFL, I should be able to continue my duties there at this time. If that changes, I will keep you guys posted.

In other news, I've recently been working on converting my Furlander series from written stories to comics so you may see me post a few pages of that soon. Hopefully I can get them published in the future.

Leaving from the hotel today, I get evicted from a ride to the fairgrounds because the car was too full. After 2 hours of waiting, I gave up and decided to walk to the fairgrounds. 2 blocks away, I trip, dropping my laptop, though it doesn't seem like a heavy impact. That is until I turn it on and discover that my monitor is FUBAR! What this means is I now can't use it until after I get paid this week and buy an external monitor, and can't do any art or furry sports (FBA, FLB, FFL, etc.) updates of any kind during that time either. My only interim source of internet is my cheap Samsung dumb phone.
