General | Posted 8 years agoIt's not often I feel like expressing myself in my journals, but I felt compelled to just this once!
So, as of lately it feels as if I'm more inclined towards drawing fanart of Kulipari (that Netflix cartoon about warrior frogs) than other things and truth be told I don't even know how that happened. I'm certainly not short of ideas for other subject matter, cause I have a whole list about them. Yet as of late see that artist voice withing me nudging me and saying "draw some frogs, dammit!"
Frogs aren't even amongst my favorite animals either. Not that I dislike them either. But I have to admit, I didn't pay much attention to them, when it comes to anthro art at least, until I watched this show. As for the show itself, yeah I like it a lot. I appreciate it's attempt at being an action-adventure story with an overarching plot, taking itself seriously enough (without resorting to meta commentary comedy like many modern shows) and not being afraid to portray war and death, while still keeping everything family friendly. As an aspiring writer myself, I truly appreciate Trevor Pryce's attempt at creating his own world of characters and adventure.
That said, I do turn an eye on its issues, one of them being the abundance of adventure cartoon tropes that don't dare to divert too much from old formulas. Another thing being that, while the art is clearly well crafted (and the characters, needless to say, well designed), the animation is so blatantly done in a budget. It still works well, but at times it makes you wish they had invested more in it. Heck, the animated teasers were far more impressive, but they were obviously far more expensive to produce than the whole series itself. I could go on about this, but to shorten in it, while I think it is a fun and well made show, I'm not surprised that it hasn't caught on in popularity. It just doesn't have that "thing" that makes it stand out from the popular cartoons of today.
So, why my recent fixation with it? You may think I'm exaggerating, but I really do feel a bit obsessed with drawing art of its characters. Maybe it's because I simply find that characters that sexy, or because I feel the need to show my appreciate to a show that seems to be going under most people's radar - seriously, as far as I know, I'm the only artist who has drawn porn of it, and one of the few I've seen draw any fanart at all. It's nothing to get upset about of course. It's just a cartoon. If it dies in obscurity, like many other cartoons through history, I can live with that. But it's a bit of a bummer nonetheless.
Regardless of the reason, one thing is true: I do find lots of pleasure in drawing Kulipari art. I mean jees, I have currently about 7 rough sketches of different pictures of it, and one more in the plans! I suspect that hearing the announcement that Season 2 is actually happening may have jumpstarted my interest again (I'll save all my hype til I see a trailer, tho), All this said, I intend not to go crazy about this. First, because I don't want to end up like one of those artists that end up stuck drawing the same thing forever. Last thing I want is to be the "he was alright, til he drew nothing but FROGS" kind of artist. Second, because like I said, I have plenty of other non-Kulipari ideas I want to tackle on as well. Fortunately, Friday Fanarts will guarantee some variety for months to come, but I do want to ensure I'll have more content to share after that series is wrapped up.
Anyway, bottom line (or one of them anyway). I am having a blast drawing these cartoon frogs and I have plans to keep drawing them in the near future, and Lord help me when seas 2 comes out. So to any of my watchers who may not feel too excited about it, feel assured that I will have plenty of other things to share as well. I have ideas for other picture series projects, both small and not so small. And yes, I do intend to open up commissions again in the future, but for the sake of my sanity, I think it's healthy that I refrain from it for the time being.
And on an additional note, you may notice that I don't draw my original characters (which are also Wolfeh's) recently. It's not from lack of interest. Wolfeh and I have actually been planning into expanding the world of our anthro mercenaries into a fully fledged project, such as a webcomic. Everything so far is in early stages, and because of all other things outside of FA that we're taking care of, it's not amongst our priorities. But rest assured, if the chance comes to work on them again, we'll do our best to bring their story to life.

This doesn't mean I will not finish the commissions I promised to work on with anyone. I just thought it would be nice to let you all know. General | Posted 8 years agoB: Hey all! It is my regret to announce that I'm temporarely holding off from taking commissions due to a persistant malfunction in my drawing tablet, which is not letting me draw properly and is possibly a sign that I must change into a new equipment.
I'm hoping I can sort out the issue during the week so I can continue taking commissions asap. Sorry for the inconvenience and thanks for understanding!
NOTE: any drawings that I post in the meantime are buffered and were drawn previous to this notice.
UPDATE: It's hard to determine, but I think the problem is coming from the tablet's hardware, either the pen or the tablet itself. I won't be able to get it checked out until next monday, unfortunately, it's safe to say I won't be reoppening commissions this week. My apologies.

General | Posted 8 years agoB: You may have noticed that, as of lately, none of my drawing titles begin with a "" preffix like they once did, and unlike Wolfeh's, which begin with a "[W]". There's a pretty simple reason for that.
When Wolfeh and I started this FA, we were both equally active in it and posted drawings in nearly equal ammounts. However, as time went by, Wolfeh ended up being less and less artistically active as she seldom posts any drawings by her lately. On the other hand, I ended up being more and more active and my artwork ended up practically taking over our gallery.
Thus, we figured it'd be easier to simply mark the distinction when Wolfeh posts a drawing of hers, thus every other pic in the gallery, is mine, unless otherwise stated. Keep in mind of course this is not fixed and can end up changing in the future.
Why not split the account? Beacause we want to keep sharing it, regardless of who uses it more, and wish to keep it that way. Our relationship is still strong after all these years, and we're even anticipating marriage in the near future~
Hope that clears out any questions, if there were any!

[W] That Nintendo Switch tho...
General | Posted 9 years agoW: Hi everyone! Happy 2017! This is Wolfeh here! After the Nintendo Switch had its big presentation tonight, I had so much adredaline by the end of it all that I had to just speak my mind!
But Wolfeh, why would you go out of your way to tell us this, you may ask? Well it's because I didn't expect Goichi Suda to make an announcement, let alone appear at the presentation tonight.
Now seeing him wear the No More Heroes emblem led me to believe 3 was finally going to happen! It would be a freaking amazing thing if that's true, cause it's the one of the first game series Bassy and I got to share as a couple.
If it wasn't for Bassy, I probably wouldn't of cared for it ever. All the memories of playing those games with him and enjoying the franchise together came rushing in at that moment. And to see the main character, Travis Touchdown, appear on the screen with his shirt saying "Travis strikes again" gave me so much hope....I know it's premature to say or act on it, but if No More Heroes 3 really does plan to happen, I will be so freaking happy like I can't even describe it! ❤
However, what Suda did say, horribly translated and presented imo, leaves me to believe....well something involving more wrestling and possibly partnering with another indie team to making a retro style game of some kind(my prediction on the style of the game, nothing confirmed obviously).
I honest to god hope not. I need my sequel. And I want to have this sequel to share with Bassy. -w-
But hey, knowing me, I may have gotten carried away with excitement.
I am super excited for Super Mario Odyssey and TLOZ: Breath of the Wild as well.
Also that Pokémon Star leak by GameStop is good to know about as well! XD

General | Posted 9 years agoB: Hey, everyone! This announcement may come off as sudden, but it was important that you all knew it.
I, Bassy, will be closing commissions during all of December. That is, starting from December 1st, I won't be taking any new commission work until January of 2017.
My main reason for doing this, among other things, is health. Taking a month-long break from sitting on my computer and drawing on a tablet could be a lot of help. So if anyone who's like to commission me, you can either do so during this month, or wait off until January, since during all December I'll be taking a major break from art.
That said, I'll still continue posting art every week, since I have plenty of content buffered for a good while. So be assured I'll still be putting out new content during the month.

I originally intended to finish Feathursday by the end of this month, but thanks to some workload off my back (and better time management) I decided to extend it til early December.

Feathursday's future

Hey everyone! Hope you've all been great. First of all, I'm pleased to announce that almost a month from now, my Feathursday project will accomplish one year since it began, and by then it'll have 50 drawn birds!
Unfortunately, I'm afraid that those are all I have planned to draw for the time being, as by around late October, I'll be indefinitely suspending all Feathursday pics. In other words, there won't be any new Feathursday pics after October and until further notice.
Why? Mostly, a mixture of time an interest. As I mentioned last month, I've been less active due to my internship, and so my drawing activity had to decrease (a few weeks ago I couldn't draw a Feathursday, so I had to post an alternative version of an older one instead). I also must admit that I don't feel so motivated for Feathursday as I was when I began a year ago. I think I'd rather use my spare time to finish commissions and draw other things that exciteme than practically force myself to put out a bird fanart before the Thursday of every week.
Does that mean I'll stop drawing bird fanart? Not at all! I just think it'd be less straining if I drew it at my own pace with no fixed scheddules, so I don't stress and groan at having to rush one out just in time.
So for those who have been enjoying my weekly bird pictures, I hope you understand my decisition. I appreciate your interest and support all this time, and I hope you enjoy these upcoming last Feathursdays as well!

[B] About my characters and clothes

For those who've been following the updated OC Profiles I've been uploading lately, you may notice I describe my characters' clothing choices. However, I know that time ago I mentioned that the world they lived in was one where clothing didn't exist.
I mainly mention the deal with clothes because I have plans for a series of pics involving our characters (plus all new ones) in scenarios with clothes. However, these drawings will be self-contained and aren't part of some narrative. So as it stands, I have no formal plans to set any "canon" when it comes to my characters and their world. And regardless of what I end up choosing, I'll definitely keep drawing them unclothed frequently, but in casual settings and in erotic ones.
That said, I'd like to know your opinion: which would you prefer? A world with clothes, or completely without them? If you have an opinion, I'd love to hear it in the comments!

Hello all! I hope you all had a great summer. I must say it felt quite productive art-wise for me - I managed to put out more drawings than I expected!
Saddly, due to an incoming ammount of external projects taking over my scheddule, including a full-time internship, I'm afraid I'll have to reduce my personal drawing time quite significantly.
What does this mean? First, I'll still keep posting and drawing! You can expect me to keep posting at least one drawing a week (Feathursday). Three of them at most, but it is likely my drawing output will average in two per week. I'll do my very best to remain active, that's for sure.
That said, commissions will remain open. You can still approach and commission me whenever you want. However, my delivery times may become a little longer. If you'd like to commission me, I'd very much appreciate your patience and understanding in that respect. After all, I'd not like to rush your drawings just to deliver faster. I'm still committed to delivering my commissions the best quality possible!
Finally, my response times from notes and instant messages won't be affected at all. This so far only affects my time for drawing, but I'll continue to check any messages I receive just like before.
