I've decided to move on from Vlad the Bat. I don't know what my new fursona will be, or even if I'll choose to adopt a new one, but I know for sure, I don't feel like Vlad anymore.

Today I had to fill out an Equity Office census. Basically it is a whole bunch of prying, none-of-your-beeswax kind of questions so the university can be sure it satisfies the shrill, "check your privilege" types.

One of the questions was sexual orientation, which had all the utterly meaningless unique snowflake responses such as "two-spirt" "queer" "polysexual" and whatever else (there were probably about 5 more non-descriptive terms I had encountered on that survey for the very first time). Frustrated with this bullshit, I clicked the "other" button and wrote in Furry.

SO there you have it. By my declaration furry is now a sexual orientation.

Where does one stand when there is no solid ground?

Lately masturbating has lost most of its zest. It feels like I'm curing a headache by banging my head against the wall to get the relief that comes to me when I stop.

This isn't because I feel depressed or anhedonic. Quite the opposite, my life is pretty awesome right now. I have been quite a regular masturbator since I was a kid, and even before that I did engage in a lot of non-sexual self stimulatory activities. Masturbating used to feel very pleasurable, and sometimes I would devote the better part of a day to the activity. But slowly and surely it has become more mechanistic, a "just get it out of the way so I can get on with my life" daily routine. Especially in the last few months of my life sexual arousal has felt like an annoying itch I have to scratch rather than something I want to have in its own right.

Last week I had something of a realization of the futile pointlessness of this activity. I won't bother to share it as its the kind of thing you need to experience first-hand to understand. But since then I've had very little urge to fap, when it has come up it has gone away very quickly, and I've been entirely disinterested in porn (although I have favorited porns, but that has been due to what I perceive as artistic merit rather than commemorating the fact that "I splooshed to this").

Last night I decided to test my newly formed hypothesis by giving into one of the dull passing urges; it was pretty intense and I even had what I would call my first purely "hands free" orgasms. However, when it was all done and over I took a moment to reflect on what had just happened. "Ehhh" I said to myself "Been there, done that, nothing new or interesting." I guess my sex drive is one of the newest casualties of my never ending self-analysis.

So where does this leave me vis-a-vis my attitudes toward sex? Well it is a reproductive activity, on that has been biologically programed to be pleasurable; Sex uses energy and can be dangerous, we wouldn't do sex if it wasn't rewarding. However, when it comes to masturbation (or any form of non-reproductive sex) you are merely hijacking your body's reward system. Its not like this is bad or something you shouldn't do, but you should just keep that perspective on it.

Perspective can change a lot.

... is pretty much equal. When I started out with furry many years ago females (true females, not just people with female characters) were quite rare. Now I would venture to say that if male furries outnumber females, it is by a trivial amount.

What's the upshot of all this? I dunno... It's good because girl furries are awesome, let's go with that.

Occasionally I've noticed my icon appears on people's FA pages in lists of their all-time favorite internet boyfriends. Moreover, out of the four or so people who have done this no one has asked me if I'd be okay with it; in fact, I kind of have a problem with this. Please take me off your lists.

How bizarre is it that anything at all exists?

An adoptable is a pre-made fursona that one assumes use for in exchange for money. Typically an artist will quckly create a batch of characters and auction/sell them off. The only reason I can see for purchasing one of these is wanting to be a furry but not having the imagination to pick an animal species and color scheme.

Anyway, onto my question: if someone assumed use of an adoptable character without actually paying for it, what would happen? What recourse would the owner of the "intellectual" property have? Would there be two versions of the same character, one genuine and one phony? (Disclaimer: I am not suggesting anyone do this. The only thing I'm sure of is that plenty of drama will be involved, which makes everyone look and feel bad.)

To my knowledge there is no formal FA policy regarding the issue, nor has it ever happened before. At very least I am glad to know that there is an tacit honor code amongst furries.
