I'm still wrestling with value and colour theory. Sometimes, perhaps out of sheer luck I can get it to work. Usually though, the colours just lean out of the screen and stick their tongues out at me and refuse to work. I've been toying around with underpainting a bit and came across this post. Thought I might share it in case anyone else here suffers from a colour handicap too. :)

There's no shame in using photo reference in illustration. The only shame is being dishonest about your methods or willfully pushing aside copyright considerations.

I have a stack of half finished art here, but my grasshopper-like attention span wants distractions. So I was thinking of maybe doing a few trades with whomever would be interested. :)

Oh hey, nothing exciting going on here. Life is crazy busy, but I'm hoping to get more doodling time soon. =)

As you may well know, over 1800 homes in the Australian state of Victoria have been completely destroyed, thousands more have been damaged and 181 people have been killed. The official bodycount is expected to rise further.

There is a furry fundraiser auction for the bushfire appeal at http://www.ausfa.org/auction/

I've put a few pieces up for auction, personal wildlife art that will be printed properly by a photolab and a small sketch commission.

All prices are in Australian dollars, and %100 of the proceeds will be donated to the Bushfire Appeal.

There are also scores of other artists putting pieces up for charity. Please take the time to look. :)
