Listening with my eyes... what? Colour theory grahhhh
Posted 14 years agoI'm still wrestling with value and colour theory. Sometimes, perhaps out of sheer luck I can get it to work. Usually though, the colours just lean out of the screen and stick their tongues out at me and refuse to work. I've been toying around with underpainting a bit and came across this post. Thought I might share it in case anyone else here suffers from a colour handicap too. :)

In the meantime I'm probably going to produce art abominations. Sorry guys, and thanks for your patience. :)

A neat thread on photo ref for artists
Posted 14 years agoThere's no shame in using photo reference in illustration. The only shame is being dishonest about your methods or willfully pushing aside copyright considerations.
I thought I'd share this link with fellow artists =)

Heya, just seeing if anyone would be interested in trades
Posted 14 years agoHey all!
I have a stack of half finished art here, but my grasshopper-like attention span wants distractions. So I was thinking of maybe doing a few trades with whomever would be interested. :)
Just a few slots I guess, and I'd be happy to receive pics of either my derpy dogsona or my non-anthro lammergieir...or anything at all really. :P
Any takers? Just gauging interest.
----
OK, I think I'm traded out now, just doing the existing list and calling it done.
Trades arranged so far:
1.
RFPT My side done! -waiting for him :P
2.
gunnersquad - Done. Waiting for Jono ;)
3.
bingo - done. Waiting. :)
That's all folks ahiiibahiiibahiiiba

Posted 16 years agoA HUGE THANK YOU to everyone who participated in the AUSFA charity auction! It's certainly a worthy cause, and to all the artists and bidders: GOOD ON YA MAAAATE!
Thank you *especially* *ESPESHULLYYYY* WHITEFANG
for your very very generous winning bids on 2 of my auctions, and also thank you Pharwarner
for buying the remaining print auction.
Big hugs to all of you!

Bushfire appeal
Posted 16 years agoAs you may well know, over 1800 homes in the Australian state of Victoria have been completely destroyed, thousands more have been damaged and 181 people have been killed. The official bodycount is expected to rise further.
There is a furry fundraiser auction for the bushfire appeal at http://www.ausfa.org/auction/
I've put a few pieces up for auction, personal wildlife art that will be printed properly by a photolab and a small sketch commission.
All prices are in Australian dollars, and %100 of the proceeds will be donated to the Bushfire Appeal.
There are also scores of other artists putting pieces up for charity. Please take the time to look. :)
Thank you for caring furries!
Hmn it says I'm a photographer on my auctions, but I can't use a camera competently :P It should say "prints will be signed by artist". Oh well.
