okay so. basic theory down. now to start devoting a significant block of my free time towards improving the way I work with it. getting my hand steadier while working with a tablet would go well to that effect. I've been told and found out first hand that I have to try and get around that mental block that the "floaty" feeling I've come to associate with working with a tablet as opposed to a pencil and paper won't ever really go away. buuuut I'm working through it.

the last picture I tried out gradient shading, which I didn't mind -too- much. Next picture I'll try another method that was suggested to me and then compare the two to see which one feels more natural to try and expand upon for myself. I've always seen art as a hobby type thing but lately I've been wanting to try and take it that much more serious and to, forgive the phrase, "Turn it up to 11"

Well I recently acquired an art tablet and have sketching on the thing nailed down (mostly) I'd really like to start coloring via tablet because as it stands I sort of stink at it. Well not sort of, -really- stink at it. Are there any art heads out there that could give a rookie like me a few pointers or at least point a chap wanting to improve his craft in the right direction?

Talking with a lot of folks about the topic of this fandom and the subject matter, especially pertaining to art pieces in particular I pose these questions:

Do you feel that an artist, if he's unknown, has to "pay his dues" by drawing male oriented or homosexual themed pieces to gain recognition due to recent trends in taste in the fandom? -OR- Can same artist get away with drawing whatever the hell he wants as long as his technique is solid?

taking a pokemon that was originally blue, recoloring it green and giving it a hat and shades is not good character design I'm sorry.
