very short update
Posted 3 years agoMy online presence has been dead for years. Posting things online is just for my own fun, lol.
FA I check every other day, I'll try to post when I have something decent.
Twitter I mainly just follow artists so I'll hang around till it explodes.
Tumblr I'll try using again as weekly sketch dump and for reblogging cool stuff etc.
DA I'm deleting since they suck but it's hard to when I find old things where I had nice comments.
Anywhere else IDK yet. I have random things like Weasyl which still exists apparently.
Also Telegram, I run the East Texas local group but it never gets above 100 members lol. There is a shortage of hot single dragons in this area that want to chat today.

How I made my fursona
Posted 6 years agoThis gets asked every so often and I’m lazy and hate repeating myself.
I wrote this out a long time ago and was cleaning up notes and since it's almost thirteen !?!?!?!?! year on FA I'll go ahead and post.
I'm sure you've seen stories like "since birth I was always obsessed with cartoons and drawing and aced art class and have dozens of filled sketchbooks and my fursona came to me in a flash of genius" and felt discouraged- well, Bennu is a combination of ineptitude and indecision.
I liked cartoons but my main teenage interests were more guitar and writing sci-fi and fantasy. I was inspired by Calvin and Hobbes and Far Side, so in like 8th grade I had an idea for a comic and used cartoon animal people for me and the redhead girl I had a crush on (who became a vixen of course) but that died quickly and I just dabbled in art- I think I drew a total of one dragon in my pre-furry days.
Then at some point in like 2004 I stumbled on furry art online, and I started thinking of a fursona, because that’s what you do right? I just had some paper and color pencils. I think first I was working on a green tiger, something stealthy looking but that didn’t work well. I took some online quiz that said African wild dog, but that is a lot of work to color.
With no strong choice I fell back on astrology, either Aries goat or Chinese monkey.
But I couldn't draw a goat, or monkey, and dragon head is the best I could do. And since I still liked the idea of comedy, a monkey/dragon hybrid sounded like the silliest thing possible so I tried that.
My mom was also born in the year of Monkey, and my dad always stomps around the house and grumps and hoards books, so it made sense (and was funny) to have monkey mom and dragon dad.
Since I was going “funny animal person” I made him fully anthro. That meant slap on monkey tail and dragon head and boom, instant fursona!
I went with yellow (horrible banana or lemon shades at first) because I’m blonde and blond is yellow right? NO but that didn’t stop me lol.
I just made him the same color all over, with slightly darker hair. I never really thought of doing anything fancy with his colors in spite of starting as a painter, haha.
Then I was dating an artist and she added some details, like the snoot scales, and ever since I’ve just gone along those basic lines. I have added to his facial hair over the years but it's still 90% the same basic idea. banana colored dumbass.

Since I only frequent a couple this is an easy list to make, lol.
FURRY FIESTA is a maybe. For now I am assuming I would just stay for Saturday night.
SIESTA is a no- I am assuming they will try it again if possible, but I have other travel plans for the middle of the summer.
Everything else is currently too far. I'd like to go to FWA or the meets near NOrleans but time/money.

I broke my nib (but then i fixed it)
Posted 11 years agoSo I have a bamboo tablet (from 2010ish) and realized I could replace the pen nib, and was so pleased with figuring it out myself I tossed the old one and didn't test it. Until now. when it won't work. at all. unplug, replug, pull out, stick in gently, stick in roughly, shake it around. the light changes intensity, but the cursor it does nothing. no va a functionar. I'm guesssing at the moment it might be software besides just the pen itself?
OK I found something on Yahooooooo Answers that said reset the "bamboo preferences" and that seems to work now? I had no idea but given how often it randomly fucks up drivers it's no surprise.
well I guess this gives me time to save up for a Cintiq now that I've been art-bonering wanting one

It's simple, I need two digital artists for this. You don't have to be great, just as good as me (which is a low standard, haha).
How it works: A, B, C each make a sketch.
A gives her sketch to B who adds linework, then he gives that to C who colors it.
B gives his sketch to C to ink, and she gives it to A to color.
C gives her sketch to A to ink, and she gives that to B to color.
We are doing character swap, Blutfuss draws Sinaris, Sinaris draws one of my characters, I draw Blutfuss.

Process:
1. Choose which file type we're going to use- SAI or PSD. I only have SAI, which can open PSD as long as you just draw and don't use fancy layer effects or text, etc. If everyone is using SAI I would prefer to save as SAI, otherwise we'll use PSD... unless you're using OpenCanvas or something!?
2. What I want to do this time is for each person to make a file for their sketch, like BennuSketch2013.psd, and they pass that file on to the next person. When it is all done, I'll collect the final versions, which should be renamed like BennuSketchFinal (I like keeping archived copies in case of problems!) and copy-paste the various stages into a new file with the squares in the background.
Minimum size should be around 800px, bigger can be scaled down for final, but it must be square because the meme blank has squares. (obviously)
3. Roles: since each does one thing for each picture, I'll have to assign roles somehow, so I'll randomly pick who inks and who colors the sketches of the other two people, and take whatever is left for mine.
4. Communication! To set it up all I need is ten minutes to get everyone to decide what we're drawing, who will do what for who, and how we'll communicate when it's time to swap files. I'd prefer Skype as simplest but am flexible.

Posted 12 years agoSo I got in contact with a local who likes Fallout and D&D, and last night I was thinking about throwing together some quick campaign... but I'm not so good on making up all the rules, tho I found this-

Shreveport was hit, Red River dammed up with rubble and trees and created a huge swampy lake full of mutant alligators, some giant, some anthro. Enclave controls Barksdale, has repaired the runways.
also the chimps from chimp haven escaped, some mutated, all have overrun Shreveport- City of the Apes!
Northern Louisiana and southern Arkansas have tribal villages that farm along the rivers and hunt inland. Southern Louisiana is full of mutants because all the fallout washed down into the swamps and pervades the environment even more than elsewhere.
eastern Texas is controlled by the Enclave (for food etc) as the State of Texas, split from the rest by belts of fallout streaming southeast from Dallas towards Houston.
the hill country or Republic of Texas is the only other area with a significant population.
The plains- everything west of Dallas, OKC, Kansas City, and east of the Rockies- is scattered with raiders chaotically migrating and plundering settled areas.

I haven't even met this person yet tho, so I got time to think about it. I'd totally be up to doing it with the East TX over @ tyler/kilgore since I know Rotsuoy would love this but uh. yeah. ohwell.
