Commissions??
Posted 4 years agoI've decided to take the plunge and open up for commissions again, and as before, I'm going to be doing things differently from most people. Please read all this junk.
Important Information
What I will draw:
- Anything, with some limits
Those Limits:
- Up to two characters
- Simple background at most
- Only one drawing per commission (This also means no comics)
- Whatever other limits I suddenly think up later when someone asks me to draw a robot transforming into a sports car and I realize I really don't want to do that
Pricing:
- Pay what you want (Note: This doesn't mean free)
- Payment accepted via PayPal
- Payment will be due when I've made enough progress that I am confident I will finish the drawing, and you'll have a good idea how it's going to look
Why pay what you want instead of a set price?
Multiple reasons. First, I hate pressure. Not having a set price means there is no expectation for me to meet a certain level of quality. If I draw something the commissioner thinks is shit, they can just pay less, and hopefully not feel bad about it, and not have any sort of buyer's remorse.
How long will you take?
WARNING!! My commissions in the past have taken anywhere from a few days to complete, to well over six months. Art is a difficult thing, especially for me. I can get stuck, unable to finish or be satisfied with a drawing even if it's something I -really- want to draw. It happens, it's one of the major reasons I'm uncomfortable doing commissions, so I want to make sure you guys know this up front. There is a chance I will tell you I can't finish your drawing, even if I've shown you good progress on it. Also, I have a tendency to want to draw personal art a lot, and I'm sorry, but I don't make a living from this, so my personal art just might come before commissions sometimes. Or all the time.
How will you choose your commissioners?
So, I hate first come first serve, because all the people I want to commission open up, get filled up in five minutes, then close before I ever even see they were open, so I won't be doing that. I'm sure I won't be that flooded, but still, better safe than sorry. Basically, if you want to get a commission, send me a Note on this site (or a DM on Twitter if you don't have an account here) containing a description of what you would like me to draw, and any reference(s) you may have for the character(s) involved, if any. After about 24 hours or so, I'll pick one to start on, and others will be placed on a waiting list.

May Be Longer Than Usual...
Posted 4 years agoJust letting you guys know... I just got home from admitting my father to the hospital with Covid19, and I've got it, too, so it may be a while before I draw anything.
Timelapse
Posted 4 years agoI forgot to put in the original post for Snack Time that I used Clip Studio Paint's timelapse feature while drawing it, so in case you already looked at the drawing before I added the link to the timelapse, here it is: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CoPPO5HM8es
Also, are people actually interested in these? With CSP automating the creation of it, it's much more convenient to make them compared to using something like OBS to record it manually. On the downside, the timelapse -REALLY- increases the size of the save file, and also makes it take much longer to save, which can be annoying when I have it set to do frequent auto saves. Just wondering how much interest there actually is in timelapses to see if it's worth the minor annoyance.

Commissions
Posted 6 years agoAfter some private experimentation, I've decided to open up for some limited commission work.
I'm going to be doing things differently from how most other artists probably do it. For one, I will not be doing them on a first come, first serve basis. Second, I'm scared of commitment, and I work terribly under pressure, so I will only be accepting one at a time. Third, pricing will be pay what you want, for now.
If you would like a chance at a commission, please send me a NOTE (Not a comment here) on FA and include the following information:
1: What, exactly, you would like for me to draw.
2: How much you are looking to pay for it.
If your commission idea is chosen, I will contact you, and we can hammer out the details. I will expect payment fairly early in the drawing process. If I do not contact you, it doesn't necessarily mean your commission has been denied, it just means I contacted someone else first, and will be doing theirs first. As I finish one commission, I will be contacting someone else to start on another.
How to increase your chances of being accepted:
The content of your commission aligns with what I enjoy drawing.
The content of your commission does not include nudity or "gross" stuff. (nudity is unlikely to be accepted at all)
You have a history in the community, especially if you've commissioned artists before.
Your commission is not too complex for my ability.
You offer more money.
I have no idea the interest in this. I may get flooded with commission requests, I may get zero, I don't know, but I will be updating this journal in a bad attempt to keep people updated on my current status.

People Actually Make Money From This?
Posted 6 years agoI'm skeptical, but if you have disposable income and can't think of anything better to do with it than throw it in a pit, I have added a Ko-fi link to my profile.
Also, just as an update, I'm currently out of town, so will likely not be drawing much for a while. I'll be back next week. Hopefully.
PS: I added a secret surprise to my profile, too, which people may find interesting.

More Requests For Watchers?
Posted 6 years agoLet's do this.
Request anything in a comment here, or Note me your request. Must be a current watcher at the time this journal entry was made, so do not watch me now just to post a request here.
I make no guarantees that I will actually draw all, or any, of the requests posted here, and it certainly won't be done in a timely manner.

The Grind
Posted 6 years agoI had to make a journal entry to link this because I don't know how to upload an animated gif to this site. It doesn't seem to work if I just upload it normally. If anyone knows how to do animated gifs here, feel free to let me know in the comments! :D
Anyway, I was working on a drawing, still fairly early in the process, and I was performing the mirror test, where I mirror the image and see if it still looks good. It's a good way to find mistakes. I then started to flip the image back and forth, alternating the mirrored and unmirrored version, and I found it funny enough, I decided to make it into a gif and show you guys!!

100 Watchers
Posted 6 years agoHi.
I reached 100 watchers during this past week.
I had been debating if I wanted to do something special to celebrate or whatever, and I was thinking about doing a request giveaway type thing, but then I was flip-flopping back and forth on if I really want to do that or not, and since this is way out of my comfort zone because I've never done requests before, I really couldn't decide, so now I'm up to 104 watchers, so if I'm going to do a 100 watcher thing, it needs to be done soon before this gets out of hand, so I've decided I'm going to try to do it!
So yeah, post a comment below with a request, and I'll either randomly pick one (or more), or just do ones I like, or maybe do none at all!! Who knows, it'll be a surprise! You can also send me a note with your request if you want it to be private for some reason.
Please note that this offer is only for my first one hundred (and four) watchers, so if you read this, and then watch me, and then post a request, it's not going to happen.

Twitter?
Posted 6 years agoSo I just found out about this hot new thing called Twitter. I don't really understand it, but it's probably gonna be really huge in the future. If you follow me here, and want to follow me there, too, I'm at: https://twitter.com/ItsBigOof
And don't worry, I actually hate Twitter, and FA will continue to be the first place I put any new art I make. I've got something in the works now, but not sure how long it'll be before I'm finished.

Does Anyone Actually Read These?
Posted 6 years agoJust wondering.
Also, if anybody happening to read this knows... FA seems to have a size limit of 1280x1280 pixels when submitting art, however I have seen other people with images that are MUCH larger than this. I was just wondering if those people are special and specifically have larger limits allowed due to being popular or whatever, or if there is simply some way to bypass the usual 1280x1280 limit?
I ask, because I've got some progress snapshots of my latest drawing, and I thought I might upload them all as a big image to show people my terrible art process when drawing. I'd rather do that than upload them each individually.
