General | Posted 10 years agoI've found that designing Dutch Angel Dragons are a ton of fun, so I'd like to start making weekly auctions or set-price adoptables. I'd LOVE to do a small line of bird themed DADs along with any other species I can think of.

I'm officially going to Furry Weekend Atlanta as a dealer! FWA pickup will be added as an option to all commission order forms so if you're going and want art, save on shipping and pick it up at the con!
There will be a $5 discount on badge commissions that match the theme of the convention: CAMPING! It's a great opportunity to stick marshmallows on your antlers, gather around the campfire, and snuggle into sleeping bags. More info later when I formally open.

Closing commissions until Aug. 3 & Full Art EX Pokemon Cards
General | Posted 10 years agoI'm closing for new commission orders until August 3 to catch up on my queue and to fill in for someone at my old job. When I reopen I will be offering full art custom Pokemon-EX card badges! They include the card, print ready card file, and a 5x7 templateless version of your card art (great for phone backgrounds, printing, etc.)! Prices and slots TBA. Some of what I make from doing EX cards will go towards upgrading my printer so I can offer cooler stuff!

This Week's Tentative Art Schedule

Tuesday will be spent completing and packing all post-AC orders (not including Furbowl pickups).
Wednesday-Friday will be spent completing older orders and Pokemon card badges (I know a few of ya are waiting on me- so sorry!)
Next week I will announce a new Patreon structure and will begin advertising commissions. I'll also be rebuilding my Storenvy shop to include buttons, books, original art, etc.
Being a freelance artist is hard, but we're making it work and it's like a dream come true. THANK YOU SO MUCH for your support this past week: customers, appreciators, friends, all of the above! I couldn't do this without YOU! My thankfulness is never-ending!!

Back from AC + Full Time Illustrator!!
General | Posted 10 years agoBad (?) news is that I got a call from the coffee shop manager saying I had to be immediately let go from my day job because they weren't making enough money to keep me as an employee.
The good news is that I got the call right at the close of the dealer's den at AC on Friday, just as we started to turn a profit.
The best news is that I had made enough profit this weekend to make for this month's surprise unemployment.
The worst news is that our huge semi-annual property tax bill came today so I need to make enough to pay for that too... whoops!
So I am making a huge effort to be in business as a furry illustrator while doing some personal projects on the side: books and comics, most likely. It'll be my new 9-to-5. If you know anyone who needs art, badges, reference sheets, design consultation, anything, send 'em my way! I am determined to prove to my husband that art is a valid source of income since he doesn't believe me :P
Other plans:
Storenvy. I will be listing pieces of original art, books, and probably some cute bird accessories.
Patreon. I have one and there are a few people who pledge monthly. I will continue marketing that and finding new things to offer you guys.
T-shirt designs- these are fun and I've sold like 3 shirts... that means someone liked my art enough to buy it, right? :P
Free stuff, 'cause everyone likes free stuff

Taking this opportunity to let you know that I'm bringing the first few (uncolored) pages of a new bird comic strip I'm working on to my table so you'll get to see them before anyone else.
I'm doing sketches and sticker commissions for weekend completion; Probably also buttons and badges. It's tougher this weekend than it was at Furthemore since I have a half table with no electricity or wifi. I'm at Table f20, it's close to the dealer's room entrance.
Late night chat... Who's going? What do you expect from different artists at the con? What makes a great convention artist? (I'm tired and anxious can you tell?) what's your favorite Digimon? :P

Open for $10 4x6 Sketches (Anthrocon Pickup)
General | Posted 10 years agoI need examples for my table! I am opening for a few sketches for Anthrocon pickup. They're on 4x6" illustration cardstock and will come packaged in a protective clear bag, with the option of a 5x7 mat for an extra $2. Haven't decided whether to finish them with cleaned-up pencil or ink brush.
Just link me a reference sheet in this journal and I'll have your sketch ready to pick up at my AC table (F20). $10 when you pick it up at my table.

Commission status, moving ahead, Anthrocon
General | Posted 10 years agoCommissions are still closed while I clear my backlog (it's shrinking yay!!). Got some big projects in there that I want to take care of before accepting any new work. Pokemon card badges will be completed and printed before Anthrocon.
I took my book, Bird Boy, which I published about two years ago as a college project, to a few events recently and the feedback I am getting is incredible. It REALLY makes me want to do more original work, and even though it might not pay well, it is the most rewarding. I might limit my commission spots when I re-open and dedicate more time to original work. I would also like to put more work into my Patreon page. I really want to do a small (strip?) comic about birds since that's what I always find myself doodling. It'll be a great "first" side project with plenty of material to work with.

New Schedule!
General | Posted 10 years agoOk, I am officially operating on my new schedule! Kitten went to his new home, brother is home recovering, and I am no longer working five nights a week (so I can use the evenings for maintaining the house and spending time with family). Feels good to be able to breathe.
My new studio hours are weekdays 9am-2pm!
