[blows dust off this thing]
Posted 9 years agoGosh, it's been a long time since I even checked back here ... not much has changed! There's so much old art here that I'm kind of embarrassed about, haha. |D I haven't been drawing digitally for a while, though with summer kicking in, hopefully I get a chance to change that.
Taking Commissions
Posted 11 years agoUPDATED COMMISSION INFORMATION
MORE ART SAMPLES
I haven't done any furry/anthro stuff in a while and I'm kind of in the mood to start drawing some again, but I can't settle on what to draw, so I'm opening up for commissions again. Stuff that can be finished fairly quick, since I don't have the time to sit down and just hack away at stuff like I used to.

$10 IRON ARTIST CHALLENGE - [8/15 SLOTS TAKEN]
Posted 14 years agoAugust 2 is my birthday, so I'm opening myself up for the ~Iron Artist Challenge~. It's basically a challenge to do 100 drawings within a set amount of time.
The rules are simple:
1. $10 gets you a digitally inked+flat colored drawing OR a speed painting (at my discretion) of one character. You can probably get an idea of the sort of nonsense I draw on my dA or my Tumblr or my FurAffinity account. As a rough guide to the range of quality possible, these three images are probably the best indication of what you can expect; just about all of them were done in one sitting, so what I come up with really depends on how I'm feeling.
2. The idea is to get these done quick as I can. So, I will have complete artistic freedom over this commission. You will not get any work-in-progress shots for approvals/revisions; I'll just send you the finished product once it's done. In the spirit of challenging myself to go out of my comfort zone, I'm willing to draw artistic nudity/gore; anything else is up for negotiation.
3. If you're cool with all that, email me at kyzaboo[at]gmail.com with the following:
* Your chosen prompt (pick from the list below).
* Reference image(s)/written description of the character you want me to draw (I can draw either original characters or fanart; it helps if I'm familiar with the fandom, but as long as you can toss a reference my way it doesn't much matter!).
* A one-sentence description about what you'd like the character to be doing in the picture-- it can be as vague as "I want to see Isabela kicking some ass!" or as specific as "I want to see Alice juggling teacups and knives."
* Anything you absolutely don't want to see in the image.]
4. Once I've okayed your commission, send the $10 over to my Paypal address and I'll get started!
I'm opening myself up for fifteen slots to start with; that should keep me occupied until the end of August. THANKS DUDES.

"What are YOU doing out THERE?"
Posted 14 years agoTo be a hero is to live your life in a small cell whose bars are the principles and rules that define what you will and won't accept. Injustice. Cruelty. Murder. On the night they threw Henry David Thoreau in jail for civil disobedience, a frend came to see him, saying, "Henry, what are you doing in here?" Thoreau said, "No, the question is, what are you doing out there?"
If I am lucky enough, privileged enough to live in that cell, to serve in that box with the word "hero" written on it-- then I say to you, from somewhere deep inside that box-- what are you doing out there?
---
A quote from the only Superman comic I have ever read. (though it may contain triggery material for some, if they're particularly sensitive.)
It's better with the context. But I think that first line is a great quote in itself.

MERRY CHRISTMAS?!??!
Posted 15 years agoIt's late, but yeah, happy holidays, have a happy new year, etc. I've been home for the past few days, and it's been nothing but a huge lazefest on this end; for once I have all the time in the world to use the computer, but I'm not doing it because I'm spending an absurd amount of time just sleeping in and reading books.
I should probably start going over my school stuff before uni starts up again on January 4, but for now I'm enjoying the sweet life of being a lazy bum. I hope everyone else's holidays are as full of cheer. :D :D D

My boyfriend is ridiculously excited for it, and since the character designer is the same guy who did the designs for Escaflowne and Chrono Cross, I must confess I now find myself reluctantly interested in it as well. The art's adorable.
It's looking likely that it will get a UK or Australian release, though a US one is a bit uncertain. CyberConnect doesn't seem to release games US-side unless it's either Naruto or .//hack.

Strike Witches
Posted 15 years ago... is a terribly cute show, even if it IS just an excuse to see a bunch of barely-legal-looking girls constantly flashing their underwear.
If you're not familiar with the show, it's basically built around the premise of aliens attacking the earth and only cute little girls (of course) keeping them from destroying the earth. How do they achieve this? Simple: these young witches strap on magic-operated 'Striker Units' (mechanical devices described as a 'new kind of magic broom' but visually more like fighter units transformed into fancy leg wear) and take to the skies, engaging in all sorts of sorties and dogfights to protect good ol' Earth.
Of course, since they're required to be able to take to the skies at a moment's call, and one can't spare the time to take off one's pants before hopping into a Striker Unit, this results in... basically the entire female airforce wandering around pantsless.
Somewhere in the middle of all this they find the time to inject valuable lessons on the value of life, friendship, and breast-groping, but it's a cute show, and at 12 episodes in the first season it's fairly digestible without so much as a burp. Despite its obvious fanservice, I like the bits of a deeper story it drops from time to time.

"Nobody's a goddamn fucking extra."
Posted 15 years ago"Whether or not Christ is a fairy tale--let's be real, he's Santa Claus and Wile E. Coyote--not feeling sorry for him is of utmost importance. We may root for him; we may worry about him; we may mock him; but if we feel sorry for him then his story is useless.
"Life, brothers and sisters, is a field of roses. We have to trust our brothers and sisters to navigate the field--to fall, to get up, to get lost, to stop and smell the roses, to cultivate a prizewinning garden, to destroy the roses using a flamethrower, to wear a crown of thorns, to fail, to die, and to wake up--all without our pity. To pity another human is to remove him from the center of his own story. Christ is no extra in the movie of the life of Christ. Nobody's a goddamn fucking extra."
44 Presidents (and a letter to a cat.
A little comic about the presidents of the USA that's as old as the hills (as the internet goes) but I thought that bit was particularly brilliant, mostly for its non-executive application. A really inspiring tidbit.
What inspires you to keep going, or to improve yourself?

Satoshi Kon's Last Words...
Posted 15 years ago...an unofficial translation has been posted here.
It's saddening to hear how little time it took his condition to deteriorate, but the most touching thing, for me, was reading about how much he loved his family:
Thank you, Father, Mother. I am so happy that I was born into this world as the child of the both of you. My heart is full of memories and gratitude. Happiness itself is important, but I am so grateful that you taught me to appreciate happiness.
Well spoken, sir. Well spoken indeed.

REC ME SOME MUSIC
Posted 15 years agoUpon realizing that the bed intruder song is honestly the catchiest thing I've heard in a while, I think I need to expand my listening repertoire.
Rec me some music, FA! I'll give anything a listen. I generally like anything with a good rhythm going, and I listen to anything from twinkly-sparkly new age-y Celtic stuff to industrial to feel-good kawaii desu ne J-Pop.
Just about anything I'll listen to, except screamo and rappin' about bitches and hos.

[COMMISSION INFORMATION]
Posted 15 years agoBecause I take commissions now, or something!
+GENERAL RULES+
At the moment, I'm mostly up to drawing general artwork; for one thing, using PayPal to conduct transactions involving adult material violates their TOS. :P I don't mind drawing nudity or something with a bit of kink. However, I'm not comfortable (or much good at) drawing anything involving underage characters in sexual situations, diaper/scat, extreme gore or violence, inflation, or vore, so if that's what you're looking to commission you may be better off looking elsewhere!
Other than that, I'm pretty much open to try anything. If you're not sure, feel free to note me and ask!
1. If you want to commission me, send me a note. Tell me what kind of commission you want (see below) and link a reference (so I can have an estimate of how much detail there will be). Usually I'll respond within 24 hours to let you know if I'm accepting the commission or not! If you don't have any visual references of your character, a written description is fine. Linking me to pictures ("This is the dress I want her in." "Could you give him this hairstyle?") is fine as well; I prefer visual references as much as possible, because I find them easier to work from.
2. Once I've accepted your commission, please send me the FULL payment. I won't begin working until I've been paid, and any accepted commissions not paid for within 3 days will be considered cancelled.
3. Typically, I'll send you a sketch/inked version of the image as it comes along. Any any major revisions (such as completely changing the pose) after the sketch stage will require additional payment.
4. All payments will be through Paypal. Note me for my account.
5. Turnover time ranges from a few days to a few weeks, depending on my own schedule, the complexity of the piece, and any commissions I have queued. I'll do my best to give you an estimate of the time.
Commission Prices ((EDITED on July 23, 2014.))
After some thought, I've decided to increase some of my commission prices. Inked work by FAR takes the most effort/time for me to finish; coloring is usually a snap once the lines are cleaned to my satisfaction.
These are the rates for a single character image. Typically, my work is full-body. Note that these prices are only a rough estimate; the actual amount I charge for the commission may increase or decrease depending on complexity (character's design, pose, etc).
$10 Sketch (SAMPLE)
$15 Cleaned/Detailed/Colored Sketch (SAMPLE)
$25 Speed Painting OR Sketch w/ BG (SAMPLE)
$35 Fully Inked Hi-Res (at least 300 dpi) Lineart, Waist-Up (SAMPLE)
These are prices for single-character pictures, with a moderate amount of detail.
Character Reference Sheets: start at $35 for a single fully colored full-body shot. Prices for these will be individually determined as the need arises; complicated characters will cost more, as will additional expressions/details/etc. These cost more than a flat color pic for the simple reason that I find full-on body shots really difficult to draw, and because I take extra care with making reference sheets to the commissioner's specifications.
Samples: 1 2 3
Prices for additional characters will depend on complexity of character designs.
If you would like to commission something more complicated (or something I would have to send to you physically) send me a note so we can discuss the rate. Check out my TUMBLR for an idea of what else I can do.
Refund/Artwork Policy
If I am unable to finish a commission for whatever reason, I will note you and will refund your payment as soon as possible. If you cancel a commission, I will also refund you, but I will deduct a certain amount for whatever work has already been completed (i.e. if you decide to cancel an inked+colored commission, but I've already inked it, I will refund you $6 of your $18 deposit.)
I will assume I may post a completed commission in my gallery unless you state otherwise. You may also post the commission on your own gallery, but please do link back to me if you do. Thanks!
