General | Posted 16 years agoA lie called "Desertification"
General | Posted 16 years agoThe scientific definition of a Desert is "A region where evaporation exceeds precipitation", and Deserts are the byproduct of three forces;
1- Sunlight
2- Wind
3- The Oceans
These are natural processes too vast in size and scope to be affected by humanity, and yet the myth persists that "Deserts" are created by Human activity.
To fully comprehend how ridiculous the idea of "Desertification" is, one needs only examine the two primary case studies.
1- The Dust Bowl
The American Midwest is a Savannah region, which is dry, but precipitation still exceeds evaporation.
That the topsoil became dry and loose, and ultimately gave way to dust storms, is blamed in "Overgrazing".
This is not a practical mechanism, because the same grazing practices had been used for decades --- the cattle ate the grass, the fields were rained-on every year (which also held-down the topsoil), and the grass grew back.
The only change was a drought, a process produced exclusively by nature.
The claimed "solutions" to the Dust Bowl were improvements in farming and grazing practices, but what is often played-down (an sometimes totally omitted) is that the Dust Bowl just happened to end during a torrential rainfall.
Mankind doesn't make the rain either.
2- The "expansion" of the Sahara Desert
The massive destruction of crops and livestock, and significant loss of Human life in the Sahara is also blamed on the same Land Management practices that reputedly caused the Dust Bowl.
Naturally, the UN-prescribed solution is to spend a tremendous amount of money on irrigation, land management, and educational seminars to teach those "stupid peasants" that they're "doing it wrong".
What isn't mentioned, however, is that these people moved into the Southern Sahara during a period of torrential rainfalls. These were part of an alternating cycle of rainfall and drought, which are common on the edges of deserts, and normal for the Sahara.
Because little vegetation grows in the Sahara, it's extremely fertile; during said routine rainfall, it's also arable along it's edges.
In short, the Sahara didn't expand south --- it was ALWAYS THERE.
What REALLY caused the disaster was the inability of the locals to perceive that nature is not static. Otherwise, they might have prepared for lean years with adequate irrigation and/or water storage (or at least a plan to "get out of Dodge").
How much do you want to bet that such preparations aren't being taught by any of those UN-sanctioned seminars?
The lesson here is that Biology doesn't shape the Climate; the Climate Shapes Biology.

Hopefully, without any copyrighted music in my videos, my channel won't suddenly vanish this time!

General | Posted 16 years agoA little while ago, on a whim, I was looking for music from the mid-1990s PS1 game "Black Dawn" --- an arcade-ish Combat Flight Sim with a totally kick-ass sound track --- and I stumbled upon these;

General | Posted 16 years agoIt's starting...
General | Posted 16 years agoFor those who haven't been following the news, a Stryker Brigade Combat Team (SBCT) just touched down in Afghanistan. It only took them NINE YEARS to get there.
Recall that the Russians lost 1700+ Armored Cars in Afghanistan over 10 years. That's more than FIVE TIMES the size of an SBCT.
And let's not for get how the LAV III (which the Stryker is a watered-down knock-off of) has fared in A'stan;
http://www.strategypage.com/htmw/ht...../20080717.aspx
As you can see by the news stories below, they're already starting to do a great job... of re-enacting the destruction of several Soviet Motorized Brigades (which the SBCT is the "Americanized" form of);
http://blog.thenewstribune.com/mili.....n-afghanistan/
http://worldblog.msnbc.msn.com/arch.....8/2058294.aspx
Not to worry, though --- they have the Afghan Army backing them up;

...and the military "leaders" in Afghanistan have some excellent policies;

More MRE reviews!
General | Posted 16 years agoI've tried a few more MREs ("Meal, individual, Ready to Eat" field rations) since last time, and here's my report from the "field";
BARBECUE SAUCE WITH BEEF
Quality: 2/10
This one was kind of... strange.
The sauce was a little sweet, but mostly sour, due to all the vinegar the manufacturer dumped into it. There were also a few bits of tomatoes and green bell peppers in the sauce, but they did NOTHING for flavor or texture.
The beef was ground (which sucked --- I was hoping it would be shaven or shredded), and didn't tase particularly good either. The texture was hardly worth mentioning.
I didn't like this entree.
BEEF POT ROAST WITH VEGETABLES AND GRAVY
Quality:10/10
This was unbelievably good!
It contained an ACTUAL slice of Beef Pot Roast (and a generously thick cut at that), with gravy, potatoes, mushrooms, tomatoes, and carrots. It tasted just like real, home-made Beef Pot Roast, and the texture was the best of any MRE I've yet eaten (tender!).
It's a must-have.
BREADED CHICKEN BREAST PATTIE WITH RIB MEAT IN TOMATO SAUCE WITH PASTA
Quality: 7/10
It was a little like Chinken Parmesean --- not incredible, but good.
There was more breaded chicken meat than sauce, and very little pasta. The pasta was a bit disappointing as well, being little shells (flat noodles or spirals would have been more appealing, but hey --- it's a field ration).
This wasn't a bad meal, but it could have been a lot better without much effort.
And what's up with "Rib Meat"? I don't recall finding any inside, unless it was -chicken- rib meat...
There was one more MRE I tried, but I can't remember what it was called, nor even what was in it.
It was good, though.
Also, I've recently determined that the MREs I've tried so far are NOT authentic MREs! The meals are the essentially the same as the GI stuff, but the packaging and accessories of these "civilian MREs" are different.
I did, however, acquire a -real- US-military-issue MRE, complete with opaque tan wrapper, "Soldier-with-M16" logo, and that infamous notice that says;
...which I purchased from a surplus store for about $7.
I'll let you know what it's like once I've tried it!

Now Youtube has screwed ME over...
General | Posted 16 years agoSee for yourself;
http://www.youtube.com/index?ytsess....._Mcz1NqgnAY1Qg
It seems Youtube's Administraitors have decided to selectively enforce their copyright rules.
They suddenly decided to stop allowing me to dispute copyrights in my movies (which is a breach of contract on their end), and slap me with "Copyright Strikes".
Get three, and your account is erased --- and they slapped me with all three in a 24-hour timespan.
(In fact, they even chewed me out for videos whose copyrights I had ALREADY successfully disputed!)
They snubbed me every time I E-mailed Youtube's Admin to remind them about the US Copyright Code's "Fair Use Doctrine", and that under their OWN TOS my videos were all Fair Use.
I've E-mailed them since as well. They haven't replied.
Their rules imply that "what the Copyright Code says, goes", but lo and behold, using a copyrighted audio track in a video created to criticize the US military for the purpose of public discourse (which Section 107, Part 1 the Copyright Code defines as "Fair Use") gets you in trouble.
Nevermind that the Law permits it, or that the TOS says it's OK --- big money trumps freedom of speech!
So, I no longer have a Youtube channel... or 110 subscribers... or 10000 channel views... or 95 uploaded videos... or a voice on the No.1 Vlogging site on the Internet.
All for the want of greed, CYA, and Moral Cowardice.
That said, can anyone here recommend a new Vlogging site?

Experiencing technical difficulties...
General | Posted 16 years agoIt seems I somehow went overboard when I used CCleaner a couple of hours ago (I figured something had to be wrong, when it cleaned a whopping 115Mb), and FA's message center is acting buggy when I use it.
It's even worse on DeviantArt and Youtube --- they no longer display their message centers AT ALL!
I've already made sure Javascript is enabled, and I emptied my browswer's entire cache, with no result.
Does anyone know how I could fix this problem?

Don't let Youtube screw you over!
General | Posted 16 years agoYoutube is trying to use a dirty trick to undercut all the personal channels, by forcing an "up or out" system onto them!
The motive can be summed-up in one word; "$$$".
They're trying to take the "You" out of Youtube, by brown-nosing to Media Barons in the hope of a fast buck, but they'll only end up shooting themselves (along with YOU) in the foot --- unless ordinary blokes like you and I refuse, in one great, resounding "NO!"
Here's the situation;
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V025E_b5I4g&feature=channel_page
This video, assuming Youtube admin haven't censored it already, will show all you Youtube users how to send them a BIG message;

You can also petition against it here;

Don't let Youtube disintegrate into just another corporate shill --- tell at least three people you know about this problem!

Gallery Update; 150 entries CENSORED by Admin
General | Posted 16 years agoThe following is a message I sent to FA Admin Pinkuh, concerning the the uploads she removed from my gallery;
This was her reply;
So much for "Help & Support".
But it makes perfect sense;
http://www.furaffinity.net/view/2004694/
But even THAT wasn't nearly as interesting as her "reply" to my previous journal;
Funny, I could have SWORN the TOS stated; "A user may not intentionally harass, slander or disrupt another User of the site, or, through inaction, intentionally allow another User to come to be harassed."
Hypocrisy, much?
Not to worry though --- there IS a way for you to view and comment on ANY work through FA that I upload, which even the "rules" do not prohibit.
You'll see soon...
I concede that several items which you have recently removed from my gallery were indeed in conflict with the AUP, (photos of a bucket, refrigerator, anvil, dirigible hangar, etc.), and should not have been in my gallery. I will not attempt to re-load these items.
However, the same cannot be said of the overwhelming majority of what you removed.
First and foremost are all of the Animated GIF slide-shows, every one of which is designed to educate the public on important military issues that are little-known to civilians. These represented considerable effort on my part, taking anywhere from hours to WEEKS to assemble, and thus are very much "made by me" --- that doesn't even include the amount of physical and mental effort and time invested in the gathering and presentation of the information in these slide-shows, which when included represents multiple man-YEARS of "made by me".
The imagery used as the backdrop is required, because the images represent indisputable proof of what the text claims, and it is completely legal to do so under the "Fair Use" Doctrine of the US Copyright Code (Section 107; "...for purposes such as criticism, comment, news reporting, teaching (including multiple copies for classroom use), scholarship, or research, is not an infringement of copyright.").
Within the boundaries of Fair Use, which these presentations unquestionably are, copyrights are legally irrelevant, and thus non-existent --- you cannot claim that these images, under "Fair Use", are not my own work, because under "Fair Use" they cannot legally be claimed anyone.
Second, the news articles I uploaded fall within the same category of "Fair Use", because the critical commentary I inserted into them makes these a rebuttal to the original article, and thus "Fair Use" (Again, Section 107; "...for purposes such as criticism, comment, news reporting, teaching (including multiple copies for classroom use), scholarship, or research, is not an infringement of copyright.").
Thus, in the context of "Fair Use", these articles can neither legally nor logically be considered another person's work.
Likewise, because the articles themselves plainly cite the original title, author, date, and publication of the original text, these are not plagiarism.
Third, at least two of the items removed from my gallery were technical data of real vehicles that was compiled by me --- this is scientific data, and thus in no way is not "made by me", and in fact one of the items in question was my OWN interpretation of a hypothetical aircraft's performance specs (a production F-23 Black Widow II).
Said items in question were TOTALLY "made by me", and you wrongfully removed them.
Fourth, six of the items you removed (Titled "Gryker 1~3" and "Stryvin 1~3") were photomorphed images that combined the distinctive features of two different vehicles, set against a wide variety of backgrounds.
Fifth, the text article titled "The Trucktard Index, Version 1.0" is ENTIRELY my own creation --- I fail to see where this is prohibited in the AUP policy.
Please replace all indicated items, and associated favorites and comments as soon as possible.
Thank you for your time.This was her reply;
I don't really care what they "Fall under"
They are not allowed on this site.
And if you re-upload anything that I took down you will have action taken against your account.
It is against this sites RULES.
Pinkuh
[FA admin] So much for "Help & Support".
But it makes perfect sense;
http://www.furaffinity.net/view/2004694/
But even THAT wasn't nearly as interesting as her "reply" to my previous journal;
I removed 150 violations from his gallery
150 of them
That is an insane amount of stuff. I looked at every single one to make sure they were violations. Every last one.
Everything that I removed was against our sites TOS/AUP.
Everything that I removed Contained content that was not By him, nor was it for him. This ranged from stuff gotten straight of the net, all the way to what looked like bad scans of an army survival guide.
I don't remove stuff to be a bitch. But if you are going to use this website and not look at the rules, or pay attention to them, or bawwwwwww that I am somehow going out of line, you won't get any pity.Funny, I could have SWORN the TOS stated; "A user may not intentionally harass, slander or disrupt another User of the site, or, through inaction, intentionally allow another User to come to be harassed."
Hypocrisy, much?

The Adminis-Traitors strike again...
General | Posted 16 years agoI've just been PM'ed by Pinkuh, who is apparently an FA 'Admin, that four of my works have been removed.
http://www.furaffinity.net/user/pin.....plz=1244102550
According to Pinkuh, who imaginitively cut-and-pasted this into all four messages;
"This image has been removed becuase it violates the AUP
This contains images in it that were not created by you.
as well the submission itself is not artistic in any way.
Because of the sheer amount of violations in your gallery you will only get this note once.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation"
Pinkuh
[FA admin]
She removed the following items from my gallery;
- MLRS rocket --- NOT a JDAM
- What's wrong with the Stryker?Ch.15 Who uses Strykers?P9
- New Stryker Upgrade!
- F-23 Black Widow II Data
The last one was an especially odd choice, given that it was a TEXT DOCUMENT, and not an "image" as stated.
There's no doubt one it was of those people who freaks-out all over the place about ANY non-furry item in FA that snitched on me.
So, it seems every single item that isn't entirely generated by my own hand is going to have to go to my Deviant Art page instead --- DA, at least, understands the legal concept of "Fair Use";
