Please No More Commission Inquiries
General | Posted 11 years agoUsually I'm happy to give price quotes and answer inquiries about possible commissions, but I am updating my price chart right now and am unable to give accurate price quotes. I won't be able to give any more quotes until June, when I open for commissions.
If you'd like a ball park estimate my old price charts are listed in my commission info.
Again, I will be reopening for quotes and commissions in June.
Follow me on Tumblr!
General | Posted 11 years agoSo I made up a tumblr for my fursuit business. Unlike my account on FA, I will be using this tumblr to post work in progress pictures as well as finished pictures of fursuits.
You will be able to see my progress as I make fursuits, read my commentary, and maybe even learn some things about fursuiting and making fursuits.

Anyone with airbrush experience, PLEASE HELP
General | Posted 11 years agoAnyone with airbrush experience please help!!
My airbrush is driving me nuts! So I started today with my airbrush being a bit spotty (but spraying some paint), so I stopped and gave it a good cleaning. But when I went to continue painting, nothing would come out of the airbrush. Its a gravity feed so I checked to see if the paint was bubbling in the cup but it wasn't. I took the airbrush a part again to see if I missed something when I noticed that the needle and parts were completely dry-meaning that the paint wasn't brought up from the cup.
I have cleaned and fiddled with it for hours and I can't figure it out. I even started messing with my air compressor which is always left at the same setting, but not even that has shown any result.
I only use createx paint, so I don't think its the paint either, and it won't even take up its airbrush cleaner fluid.
Please help! I'm about to chuck this thing out the window!

Why didn't I think of this before???
General | Posted 11 years agoOk, so shaving is one of my favorite steps in fursuit making. It's the time when the fluffy monstrosity you spliced together finally becomes the creature it was meant to be. I love it, but I hate the mess and I hate inhaling all that fur! I tried using a respirator mask, but I always felt like I couldn't breath and eventually I stopped using it. I figured I'd just have to deal with it, but today it was like the damn light bulb finally went of in my head and it occurred to me that I could dampen the fur with my spritz bottle before shaving, just like a barber does to human hair. Why didn't I think of this before? I've already tried it and it works splendidly. I think the shave is even smoother and I don't have inhale the fur dust that always kicked up before.
Wish I thought of this sooner!

A Show All Fursuiters Should Watch!
General | Posted 11 years agoI just stumbled upon a show on hulu last night called "Behind the Mask". This show follows four team mascots, one from highschool, one from college, one from the hockey league, and one from the NBA. I immediately recognized the NBA Bucks' mascot Bango as the mascot who performed the infamous ladder dunk. The show is an incredible insight into the joys and woes of mascoting/fursuiting and you should watch it if you can.
Again, you can find it on Huluplus and maybe just Hulu. There are ten episodes and it is a complete season. I hope there's another season in the works.

Closed for Commissions Unless You've Been Quoted
General | Posted 12 years agoI'm now officially closed for commissions, but if you have already received a quote from me then I will still take your commission if you produce the down payment within the next 30 days. I do realize that some of you guys are waiting for those elusive tax returns to come in ;)
I'm planning to reopen in the summer for full suit commissions.
Here's what I'll be working on:
-A jaguar/panther head.
-A Coca-cola hyena partial.
-A canine/wolf/sloth/lemur hybrid partial.
-Wings and a tail for the barn owl.
-A sergal head.

Sergal Plushies
General | Posted 12 years ago[Background]
So I'm one of those people who sleep a stuffed animal every night, which is ironic because I never slept with teddy bears as a child. I'd always end chucking them off my bed in the middle of night, but at some point in my teen years I got a giant polar bear plushie who I named Big Fat Paulie (props to those of you who recognize the origin of the name) and I had him for quite a few years until he started to get pretty ragged. I decided I would make myself a new plushie that would replace him, so I chopped up ol' Paulie and used his remains to help figure out how to make his successor, Simon the Sloth. Simon turned out great and I've had him for over three years.
[The Reason You Read This Journal]
So I was thinking about making a sergal plushie of my character "Blurby" when it occurred to me that maybe there were others who'd like to have sergal plushies too. If you'd be interested in commissioning or purchasing a sergal plushie, let me know in the comments section.
**I have not made any sergal plushies yet, this is just a inquiry to gauge interest**

Help Me Decide What Base to Make!
General | Posted 12 years agoOk, so here's the deal. I've ordered a new batch of silicone, in order to make more resin base molds, and I have enough for two new molds. The first mold will be a hyena mold since I've been having so many inquiries about making more hyena heads. (The striped hyena was made off a heavily altered fox base, not an actual hyena base.)
Deciding what to make for the second mold is what I'm having problems with, so please help me decide what I should make next! Tell me what species you would like to see me make!
Molds I already have:
Big Cat
Fox
Sergal
Hyena

ASK ME QUESTIONS, PLEASE?!
General | Posted 12 years agoHey guys. I've been really lazy about putting anything in the info section of my profile, mostly because I'm lazy but also because until now I wasn't sure what I wanted to put there. I decided that I'd do a Q&A, that way my profile only has information that you guys want to know and isn't clogged with crap you don't care about.
I want you guys to send me questions that you'd like the answers to! Please submit your questions in the comments, so I'm not getting the same questions asked. Your question and its answer may be added to my profile page!
Here's what I have so far:
"Tell me about yourself?"
Answer - My human name is Molly (I know total dog name, right?) I am a college student, who lives and studies in North Carolina, USA. I ride horses competitively and am an animal lover. I’m a full time student, but I still make time to pursue one of my greatest passions - fursuit making!
“Are you a furry?”
Answer - Yes, I’ve always enjoyed anything to do with animals, especially anthropomorphic art forms.
“What’s your favorite part about being a furry?”
Answer - I have to say that fursuiting is the best part about being furry, at least to me.
“When was the first time you fursuited?”
Answer - Believe it or not, I was twelve the first time I fursuited. In my hometown, I would often run errands for a bookshop owner, in order to earn store credit or pocket money. The bookshop was going to hold an event where kids could get their books signed by Clifford the Big Red Dog or Franklin the Turtle, but the employee who was going to wear the suits became sick, so the owner asked me to fill in for her. That weekend is one of my fondest childhood memories.
"Where can I see your fursuits?"
Answer - Anyone can view my fursuit creations in the gallery of my FA or by viewing by YouTube channel. You may also encounter my creations in the wild at various convention and fur-meets.
"Where could I meet you?"
Answer - I sometimes frequent conventions and fur-meets in the North Carolina area. I also volunteer (in fursuit) at special events in my local community. I usually post in my journals when I go on any public outings, so keep an eye open and we might meet up somewhere in the real world.
“Do you run a fursuit making business like DHC or MadeFurYou?
Answer - I am in the process of creating my own fursuit making business called: “CityMutt Fursuits”. The FA page is currently under construction.
“What style of fursuit do you make?”
Answer - I tend to make semi-realistic style fursuits, but I have also dabbled in toony styles, realistic styles, and the japanese “kemo” style. I am a maker that is very much open to trying new styles and techniques.
“Do you make tutorials?”
Answer - Unfortunately, I do not make tutorials at this time. I can usually point you in the right direction though, if you are looking for advice.
“What are your prices?”
Answer - My prices are listed under my commission information.
“Why are your fursuits so expensive?”
Answer - I don’t think my fursuits are very expensive. Considering the quality, I think my fursuits are on less expensive end considering the price range of many other fursuit makers.
“Why don’t you do smaller commissions like handpaws or feetpaws?”
Answer - I enjoy making complete characters, doing less would make the work unenjoyable. I don’t make fursuits for the money, I do it because I love it.
“Can you make me a fursuit?”
Answer - Send me a note. Even when I’m not officially taking commissions, I may be able to squeeze you in. However, if I say I’m too busy now please don’t get discouraged, if you’re serious about obtaining one of my fursuits I’ll usually keep you in mind when I do reopen.
“What can you put into a fursuit?”
Answer- My price list is rather limited to bare essentials, so as not to be complicated. If you want something in your fursuit, don’t be shy to ask. I probably know how to do it, have done it before, or am willing to find out how.
“Can I ask you a question?”
Answer - Yes! Note me a question and I’ll try my best to answer. You may even find your question used in this bio.

Tails, Tails, Tails
General | Posted 12 years agoThe goal today is to make four tails. A cheetah tail, a panther tail, a raccoon tail, and a sergal tail. It would be nice to have the panther and the raccoon tail done today. I know I won't be able to put spots on the cheetah tail until I bring my airbrush home next week, but hopefully it'll only need spots after today. Since I'm experimenting with how I'm making the sergal tail, I just want to have the base done and ready to fur at another time.
Ready, set, Go!
Ready, set, Go!
Jack-O at Old Salem's Trick or Treat Night!
General | Posted 12 years agoMan, I'm so excited for this Sunday! I'll be volunteering at Old Salem's Trick or Treat Night in my Jack-O fursuit.
For those who aren't familiar with it, Old Salem is a historical district in Winston-Salem, NC, which hosts a lot of seasonal events including a trick or treat night which is practically a festival with how many people come. This is the first year that they've reached out to Salem College for volunteers, so I'm incredibly excited to be apart of it!

Miracle Kitten
General | Posted 12 years agoThis morning on a busy four lane road, persons unknown chucked two four week old kitten out of their speeding vehicle. Luckily for one of those kittens, a very kind man, who was driving behind the vehicle, immediately stopped to save the kittens. Unfortunately one of those kittens was run over before it could be saved. The other kitten was scooped up and taken to the vet. Though there was a long line at the vet, once people heard what happened, the kitten was immediately rushed to the front and given an examination. Miraculously the kitten was unharmed by the fall except for a small scrape on her nose.
My family had been looking to get a new kitten since our last cat passed away, so when my father's employee, the man who saved the kitten, brought her into the shop, we took her in. She's a little minx cat, grey with white paws and even though she's only four weeks she's has some attitude! Being so young she still needs formula and I'm worried about how she'll get on without her mother and siblings. She's eating though, and being quite demanding about being fed every few hours.
We've named her Bobbi, after the man who saved her life.

Summer Fursuit Commissions
General | Posted 12 years agoSo I've put up the prices in the commission section of my profile. I'll be starting on commission after my exams end on May 20th. I already have someone down for a digigrade fursuit. I'm so excited to start working that I can't wait for school to end!
