The Pittsburgh paper has a story today about auction of a folio of very old photos "made with a view camera and glass plate negatives" from inside the legendary Homestead Works (look that one up if you don't know its substantial significance!).

They show one photo from the forge shop which is well worth viewing (click through for the largest format):

A nice photo collection from now-destroyed Bethlehem Steel 'Sparrows Point' mill in Baltimore. As many as 45 thousand people once worked there. Warning: Some sad photos at the end.

The people responsible for destroying the magnificence of the blast furnace should be beaten with large sticks. Repeatedly.
