Warning: This is being written to help chase away my writer’s block. Don’t take it too seriously. I can’t write well for anything at all as of late. Including this. There’ll be, of course, slight hints towards pairings. That’s just how my screwy fangirl mind operates. THIS WILL BE AU/AT.

Summary: They’re kept in cages like animals just because of what was happening. None of it was their fault yet they had become birds with clipped wings. Each awaits their Fate in the cell that binds them to this oppressive place.


He found us somehow, even after we had fled and managed to find an ideal hiding spot. It had been decades since that incident occurred, but they had not forgotten. They had kept their search up and it finally paid off. Here we now stood, in small jail cells that were more like cages. To him and to this place, we were rabid, wild animals that were set to be slaughtered. What’s worse is that we were kept waiting, wondering when our deaths would finally come. It was nerve-wracking.
It was six weeks ago that they had found our sanctuary and raided it, taking all of us into custody. My world was flipped upside down at the suddenness of the crackdown. I’m still reeling from the first days in captivity. That bastardous new head of Squad 12 was going to be responsible for what happens to each of us, my seven companions and I. We were now miserably holed up behind bars awaiting our Fates.
Several times a day, each of us would be visited by one of the numerous researchers that belonged to this Division. Rarely would we see the Captain himself. He prefered sending one of his minions in his stead and perhaps I should be glad for the fact. Kurotsuchi Mayuri was certainly a frightening man. His appearance alone was intimidating, and coupled with his odd demeanor, I did not like the man at all. From what I gathered from the reactions of my companions, neither did any of them.
We’re not fully deprived of the basics here in these cells. However, we do not have access to the surpluses of the essentials we’d grown used to in the Living World. I had gotten myself a job and was able to buy all the comforts I needed whenever I wanted. Now I did not have the pleasure and it was painful. Even though I am not starving, I still pine for the routine I had settled into but was now ripped away from forever.
Who knew how much time we had left in this now-deplorable afterlife? Our days were numbered and those numbers could be as low as hours and as high as decades. It all depended on how our usefulness panned out. Our ‘condition’ was something brand new to all those in Soul Society. But that novelty would wear off eventually, and when it did, they sure as hell wouldn’t release us. We were prisoners for life.
“Sure is quiet in here today.”
“None of you are planning shit, I hope. We have ways of dealing with rebels.”
“I don’t think they’re a threat…”
“Shut up, rookie. They’re filth and should be addressed as such. The scum of Soul Society. Dirty hybrids. That fucker Kisuke Urahara is to blame.”
There were a pair of the Squad’s researchers standing at the entryway to our ward. One I recognized as the cruelest man in Mayuri’s troop. The other seemed new as I had never seen him before. He was considerably smaller than the veteran and was far more meek. Perhaps someday in this hellhole still had a stroke of humanity left. My hopes were still low but had lifted up from their previous location at rock bottom.
“Oi, leave them alone, Tai. And don’t demean Rin like that. Demoralizing newbies isn’t permitted.”
“Oh shut the hell up, Akon. You’re not involved so mind your own damn business.”
Tai, the fouler of the pair currently visiting our ward, had been yelling into the other room at Mayuri’s second-in-command. Akon was a fair soul, not showing bias either way in our case. He remained neutral and that fact was at least reassuring. Hopefully, Rin would turn out far more like him than Tai as his life in Squad 12 dragged on. Souls like Tai were not ones you’d want to deal with. He was especially hostile to those deemed bad. For example, my companions and I were easy targets for him.
“I don’t know why I bother being on duty for your case, you piles of trash. You all sicken me. Hollows like you should be killed, not kept for later use.”
I hated this man and everything he stood for. His very being went against every single one of my morals. He was inherently cruel to all those kept as experiments in this facility and incredibly harsh on all those ranked lower than himself. Mayuri had made him the 3rd Seat, so almost all of his Squadmates were his underlings. All except Akon and Mayuri himself were subject to his temper and hateful remarks. If an Unseated officer got in his way or made a mistake, they would be regretting it in an instant. Tai’s wrath was swift and strong.
My back was taut, flush up against the bars of my cell. I would not face this bastard of a man if I had the option not to. Something about just the thought of his face invoked an aggressive reaction in me. Almost everyone I had known would contend that I was almost always a pleasant person. Priding myself in tolerance and friendliness towards those who deserved it, that was true. Rarely did I ever feel truly negative or hatfeul about anything. But this man was the very essence of the things I loathed. He kissed the ass of Mayuri and was a complete asshole to everyone else around him, even Akon.
“Get your ass up, bird.”
His words were directed at me but I refused to move or even acknowledge his existance. To me, there was no such thing as Tai Uragashi. Just a disembodied voice of a heinous soul that was stuck on loop. His anger was obviously rising because I knew damn well how badly he hated resistance. There was a rule against coming into our cells put in place by our captor himself and Tai only obeyed it because he wanted to be on Mayuri’s good side. It was the only thing keeping him from killing me here and now. To be honest, I didn’t care. I’d never bend to his demands even if it killed me to keep resisting.
“I told to get up and face me, you fucking wad of garbage. Do it now.”
My reply still did not come and I sensed his irritation level peaking. He was most likely red in the face and snarling as wide as possible. Good. Let him get frustrated and blow a fuse. It’d serve him right. His nickname for me in itself was enough to get under my skin. I wasn’t of the avian persuasion and yet he insisted on calling me a bird. This was a direct reference to my condition, something I loathed with every bit of my being. It wasn’t something I had control over or a choice in. The issue had been thrust upon me by that rat, Aizen Sousuke, decades ago.
“Fine, if you will not cooperate, I will report this to the Captain. He’ll deal with your insubordination personally. Just you wait, bird.”
With that, he and Rin returned to the lab and shut the door behind them. A darkness settled upon the ward in which I was being held like an animal on death row for harming a man. Silence accompanied the darkness, save for the breathing of my friends and the occasional grunt or groan. We didn’t talk much due to our own misery. There was nothing to discuss while trapped in this place. There were only three windows here in this room so not everyone got to see the sky outside.
It was night time and the sky above the Seireitei was beautiful. I knew because one of the windows was in my cage. Of course, it was sealed in such a way that nothing could ever enter or exit, preventing my escape. The other windows were situated in the cells of my companions Hachigen and Mashiro. But they never liked to gaze at the outside like I did. I missed my freedom like a broken-winged bird missed soaring through the open air. Without it, I wasn’t myself.
Every once in a while, a Hell Butterfly would flutter by my window to wherever it was headed. The creatures were so very pretty and highly useful. They could fly freely through the unblocked space and reach there destinations without fear. Putting them in a cage took away the essence of their usefulness. They were messengers and guides, aiding the Shinigami who needed them. It was their job and they did it well.
I arose from my position against the bars of my cell and moved to the bed that I had been given. It wasn’t the best in the world but at least it was something. They treated us like animals here but at least had the decency to provide us with a bed, food, and water so as to assure that we remained healthy as experiments. If I was more eager to protest against what was happening to us in here, I would consider not eating. That would promptly infuriate Mayuri and provide a good chance to try and escape since he would most likely take drastic action. But I knew it would be a fruitless endeavor.
“The quiet stillness is a little unusual.”
Without really caring whether my thoughts were spoken aloud or not, I uttered a sentence in a hushed tone. Not everyone had heard me since I was on one end of the ward and there was considerable distance to the other end. On each side of the ward were four cells and each of my companions had their own holding pen, so to speak. We were kept apart and it hurt. I was fairly social and much preferred company to solitude. Sure they were still close, but it wasn’t the same.
Not one of them seemed to stir at my comment, even if they had heard me. Usually I’d have been answered with a snort or a ‘shut up’ or at least some movement from my audience. Tonight must have been extra stressful on everyone, not just myself. There were a couple of physical exams that had taken place in the morning. Kensei and Shinji were the subjects that had been chosen this time and the rest of us could only listen to what was happening to them beyond the door to our ward.
My last assessment had been two days ago. It was so painful and horrible that I never want to go through it again. But that obviously wasn’t going to be the case. Each week they reassessed each of us. It was Sunday today so my next exam would be on Friday. I had that long to try and relax my anxiety and stress, which probably wasn’t going to happen. As the days passed I slipped more and more away from my tame self, giving in to the madness that came from cage life.
A rustle from one of my friends, though slight, caught my ears immediately. It had come from my closest fellow hostage, the female in the cage next to my own. She seemed to be awake and alert enough to have heard my statement from earlier.

Besides, the only important moment they have ever shared is when he defended her from Hollowfying Ichigo. It wasn't even important. Hollowfied Kensei nearly killed Lisa at one point. Luckily, Rose saved her.

Quite a few shippers of them exist. There's also fanfics, though very little. It's so cracky but there's enough fans now that it puts my mind at ease.

Anything, because IchiRuki is perfect no matter how you slice it. This is Destiny's greatest creation. As long as Renji & Orihime aren't portrayed as monsterous homewreckers or jealous assholes, that is. Nobody should be bashed just to assure that a pairing works.

#4. What is your favorite moment for #1?
SO HARD TO CHOOSE! Maybe the part where he saved her from being killed by Hollow Kensei. It was so sweet and amazing. Also, the parts where they team up (once against Hollow Kensei, once against Aizen) are also badass. They make a damn good tagteam, both in romance and on the battlefield.

#5. How long have you been following couple #6?
I really have no clue. But it's so enrapturing because it goes beyond the usual limits. It's not a happy-ending-lovey-dovey kind of pairing. Soifon had to kill Ggio. Even though she did, and he really is dead, I'll always support it. It's a match made in Hell but is oh so good. They're perfect for each other. He's so much like her yet so different.

Never thought of it before one big fanfic I follow. But now that's it's right in front of me, I could see it working majorly well. He's a good man and she can put up with anything. People argue that's it's wrong cuz he's anthro while she's human but I say fuck you to that. It's anime. Not a hentai anime, even. So it's not like they'll be fucking like rabbits.

As soon as I figured that Rose had feelings for Lisa. I fucking know he does. If not, then moar personal space would be given, and he wouldn'ta made that comment after he saved her from Hollow Kensei. When I realized Lisa had probably slept with Rose at least once, which created Nanao, all my doubts were gone. Besides, Love & Rose are just friends. They also get on each other's nerves pretty often. And not in a 'those who fight really love each other' kinda way. More in a 'you disgust me' kinda way.

Not at all. Now I see her as his mother, honestly. And I love them both so I could never give up Bleach cuz of one pairing. Especially one as benign as that one. HitsuMatsu is kinda cute still, even if my bias says they're related. And I won't DIE if it happens.

Not to mention that they make a badass tagteam in battle.

IchiHime. It is THE foulest pair in anime, followed closely behind by NaruSaku. There are no words to describe how awful it really is.

1. What do you do? What are you good at?

What do I do? I'm currently not employed or in school. So I can't go on and on about a job I don't have or a college I don't go to. Instead, I'll tell you about how fruity and faggy I am in the shit I do all do. Mei wakes up between 9 & 11, depending on how tired I was and when I went to bed the night before. I usually sign online between 10 & 11. Usually I chill on CS, FA, DA, FF.net, Gmail, Skype, BA, and Bleach Wiki. I chat with my best friend Steel literally all day via texts & CS messages. We make jokes about Bleach and basically act as if it's a trippy drug, messing around and saying some weird shit. All in good fun, mind you. We talk about pairings and roleplay and my fanfic. I go to bed after midnight. That's usually all there is to it.

What am I good at is a weird question. Being a Bleachfag is the only answer. And coming up with crack pairings. But I'm also intelligent even though I rarely act it. I'm very opinionated on certain matters and I talk a lot. Chatting on things I love is my true specialty.

That's a very hard subject to cover in its entirety. How does one define romance in a basic way anyway? Everyone views it differently and no one set definition will do. My own view on it varies and it has different contexts. I like sappy/fluffy cliche shit, tragic shit, and angsty/sadistic shit. As long as I have a mate that tolerates me and puts up with my eccentricity then romance is not too important.

When it comes to pairings, I'm WAY moar serious about it. My scope of definitions is still widely varied but I need to see it more here than in reality. For example, IchiRuki. There's boundless love and endless romance there. The type that's forged by partners who fight together, are together a lot in general, can make passionate love together, protect each other, and is based in Destiny. I personally believe that IchiRuki is a Fated pairing. They'll end up with each other no matter what.

5. What's with the name?

Meisu is the name I go by EVERYWHERE, even if my username is BleachWolverine or VizardGryphon. All my buddies know me as Meisu and often call me Mei, which I love. But where I got the name Meisu is another story. Years back on FF.net, I saw it in a fanfic. The author said it loosely translated to Destiny. Destiny means a LOT to me. So much that I can't describe it in words. So I took the name Meisu for myself. Before that I called myself Akata, Pepper, Sasha, and Amber. But my real name is Kelly.

Kaikou is the middle name I recently have taken for myself. Where did I find it? On Verpets it is the name of my favorite species. The meaning of it is beyond me but I love the way it sounds.

Gafore "Darkrow" Rakoro

2.) Tell us about your character.
He's a simple albino Paradise Crow. Created his nickname 'Darkrow' for himself. Loves body art and his amazing wife, Ninken. His job happens to be tattoo artist, but he also is able to do piercings as well. Body paint, tattoos, piercings, and body modifications like that really appeal to him. He even got a skull implant when he was a teen. Gafore is 5'8, 157 pounds, 26 years old, and pansexual. But he's taken, guys. He & Ninken have 2 children, a son and a daughter.

3.) How did you make your character up?
He started as a doodle in school. I got so attached to said scribble that I took it home and drew him a shitty digital ref. Since then, I haven't ever felt the need to get rid of him.

4.) Is it easy drawing your character?
No, not really. I suck at avians, hair, & body art. I don't draw him very often. But when I do, it's a lot of fun.

5.) When did you make your character up?
The early half of 2010, in photo class at school.

6.) What inspiration(s) brought your character to life?
My love for body art, albino things, and my need for an Avian character. Plus, I NEEDED to use the name Gafore. It's special to me.

VERY much so. I created him by accident but he stole my heart in no time. He's what I would be if I was a guy. Gafore represents freedom and rebellion, to a degree. He isn't held back by normal limitations of society.
