Kansas House Republicans Advance Bill That Legalizes Discrimination Of Homosexuals On Religious Grounds wrote:Religious freedom has been used by Republicans as an excuse for many different kinds of bills. They’ve used it to justify bills limiting women’s access to contraception. They’ve used it in the effort to kill a woman’s right to choose. They’ve used it to allow employers to refuse to cover health treatments they don’t like. And they’ve used it to kill anti-bullying legislation. But now, Republicans in Kansas have passed a bill which will allow people to discriminate against homosexuals if they have a religious reason to do so.
I am sick and tired of these right wing loonies trying to weasel their bigoted and hateful superstition into the government. They think that just because their book of delusions says it is ok then they can discriminate at will. How much longer will this go on before they try to pass bills authorizing people to own other people as slaves? You might laugh, but you give these loonies an inch and they will take the planet. I am sure that with enough time and no one standing up against this, they will determine that undesirables will be considered subhuman and therefore be taken into slavery. They already think that homosexuals are second class citizens and that atheists shouldn't even be considered citizens.
What these people are wanting to see happen is the establishment of a Theocracy. They think that if they build a government described in the bible that everything will be glorious. What they fail to realize is that such a government is a living hell to all but the top leaders. All they have to do is look at Iran or North Korea to understand what a horrible path they are trying to force us on. They might delude themselves by thinking, "Oh, well that is islam and communism, those are false religions. They are not the truth that we believe in." And the most scary thing of all, this country has more nukes than any other country and the means to deliver these weapons anywhere on the planet!
If you consider yourself a freedom loving American, then you must speak up against this garbage. Moderate christians should be shouting the loudest. It is their belief that looks bad in this instance. They will also eventually end up on the chopping block once all other minority groups have been silenced by the great theocratic terror.
No matter what you believe, the best possible society for all of us to coexist is a free speaking, secular society. Religion is no excuse to oppress anyone, period.
Oh, and some more right wing garbage based on absolute bullshit:

Interesting tidbit
Posted 13 years agoI have not gotten intoxicated in quite some time. I decided to reduce my beer intake in order to keep from growing a huge belly. It has been a few months I think since I have felt buzzed. I've had a beer every now and then and a bit of wine too, but never enough to get me loopy.
If I actually think about it, I don't really have the desire to drink enough to get buzzed. Is it because I'm getting to a point in my life where my mentalities are changing once again, or am I just in a phase? Meh, whatever.

Weekend in review
Posted 13 years agoI was supposed to have a four day weekend this time around, but a good chunk of Friday was eaten up because I had to take a soldier to clear ACAP (the guy is getting chaptered). That evening I met up with
cianthefur and I took him to a pet store. The place was supposed to have ferrets but they weren't delivered on time. We did enjoy looking at the various fish (fresh and salt water) and other animals. After that we ate some Chinese food and went to
cheetor7 and
rox777's place.
On Saturday it was so nice outside that we decided to hike Devils Head. So we went on post, transferred some things to my jeep, dropped the top, and headed out. While traveling down the interstate
decided to put on my suit head, hand paws, and OD Green shirt. We got a lot of hilarious reactions, the best was the old lady that gave us a thumbs up. xÐ
http://www.furaffinity.net/view/7646686
We weren't able to make it to Devils Head because the gate was closed. We decided to take some other trails and Cian was enjoying the rough trails and saying how his car would never make it where we were going. xÞ I was going to drive along the Platte river but then I remembered that a trail with a good view was nearby. We went in and stopped to eat MRE's (nomy noms of nomness :3 ) and I got into full suit and Cian took some pictures of me. Sadly, the exposure was set too high and many of the pictures didn't turn out well. There are some that turned out great and I will try to use Photoshop to fix some not so bad ones. After all of that we went back to the pet store to see if the ferrets were there, they were not. :\
Sunday was a pretty chill day. We were exhausted from the sun on Saturday and decided to sleep in. We made another stop at the pet store and they finally had the ferrets, I was disappointed that they were adolescent or adults. I was under the impression that they would be much younger. We went up to REI and got a few things, then made a stop at Barnes and Noble. I wish I could have the entire sciences section as my own personal collection.
Monday we got up around 0900 and ate at Village Inn. I then went to a clinic to be checked out and approved for my red card. We then went back to Cheetor and Rox's place. I played Minecraft while Cian took a nap. Most of today was just relaxing inside since it got damn windy around noon. Cian had to go home early to install new headlight housings in his car. He is getting a new car one piece at a time. :Þ
So here I am, I have to be at work at 0300. :| FTA

This is a movie about a Canadian during WW1. It is pretty graphic and not for those that get queasy easily. What I really love about this movie is the humanity. The main character did something horrible, for which he gets a medal, in the first scene and it reverberates through the rest of the movie. His attitude about war are pretty much matched with mine today.
I believe this movie was produced in Canada by Canadians. The reason why I think this is because it has something that most American movies lack these days, a plot. It is very well written and also shows something that is lacking in typical war movies, the enemy is not some mindless evil horde. I won't spoil any more, just watch it.
John Stuart Mill wrote:War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things. The decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling which thinks that nothing is worth war is much worse. The person who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing which is more important than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature and has no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself.
A quote often taken out of context and usually slapped on bumpers next to other stickers that say, "Don't call it your country if you won't fight for it." If you ever see the latter ask the person where it states in the constitution where you have to be a soldier in order to be considered a citizen.

Cortisone injection, take two
Posted 13 years agoTomorrow I will get another shot into my spine which I am very skeptical about any positive effects. All this will do is make it to where I will be sore all week and not willing to do any kind of exercise. Joy.
Good news is that I will be on 24 hour quarters afterwards which will give me time to do laundry. :Ð
I wish my senior leadership would hurry up and approve my request and let me separate early so I can do things that will actually help my back pain. lol, FTA.

An interesting series that I have ran across. :)
Well, I did it.
Posted 13 years agoYesterday I signed a Declination statement.
Today I requested Chapter 16-4
I should be out within four months if they approve it, which I do not see why they wouldn't.
I got tired of waiting on medical stuff to happen. I saw my doctor today and he wants to give me another cortisone shot. I don't think it will make a difference.

There could be a snag with medical though:

Subject: Reprehensible Conduct
Message Body:
I find it quite abhorrent that you would terminate the employment of Ethan Mills solely on the grounds of his sexuality. Such bigoted actions are deplorable and can only come from morally bankrupt individuals, which must be an overwhelming majority in your congregation. I will endeavor to bring this situation to the light of every media outlet possible. I will inform state and local LGBT groups of your depraved policy. I refuse to allow people to believe they can discriminate at will as long as they are hiding behind a curtain of religion.
Homosexuality is natural; it occurs in nature across several species; it does not cause harm; and there is nothing that can be done to change a person's sexuality. Even your former minister, Ted Haggard, engaged in homosexual acts. Can it not be any more clear? I assume it is not when your vision is distorted by bronze age myths.
I really hope this church conducts some introspective and admits their wrongdoings. I would love to see a public apology for Ethan and anyone else the church excommunicated. I am not expecting much deviation from the intolerant, narrow-minded, dogmatic, and prejudiced policies. Hopefully I will be surprised, but I am not going to hold my breath.

sir.tundra has been fired because of his sexuality. He worked at one of the mega churches in Colorado Springs. I know it should be no shocker, but this issue needs to be addressed. If we let this just slip by then it will happen to more people. We need to take a stand and let these bigots know that their backwater, outdated actions will not be tolerated. Please click the link to see his journal.http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/3252756/
I suggested that he start a partition on change.org . I suggest that we all encourage him to fill out the request and post it. I would like this mega church to feel the pressure of the world on their shoulders.

So, I had to find bullets for my NCOER. I think it is wrong that I am filling out my own DA 2166-8, but meh. I put in bullets that I honestly thought were necessary, even the bad ones.
I left the bottom blank because I would rather have my rater fill it out. I thought of fucking with him though and adding in the following:
o super hooah NCO
o should be in an Army recruiting commercial
o pisses excellence and shits awesomeness
o best NCO ever, of all time

We Are the Explorers
Posted 13 years agoWhy do we explore? Simply, it is part of who we are, something we've done throughout history. NASA's new video, "We Are the Explorers," looks at that tradition of reaching for things just beyond our grasp, and how it's helping lay the foundation for our greatest journeys ahead.
What Doesn't Stay in Vegas? Sprawl.
In honor of Landsat 5's 28th birthday today (March 1st) here's how the desert city of Las Vegas has gone through a massive growth spurt. The outward expansion of the city is shown in a false-color time lapse of data from all the Landsat satellites.
The large red areas are actually green space, mostly golf courses and city parks. You'll notice the images become a lot sharper around 1984, that's when new instrument designs greatly increased their sensitivity.
These Las Vegas images were created using reflected light from the near-infrared, red and green portions of the electromagnetic spectrum (Landsat 5 TM bands 4,3,2 and Landsat 1-3 MSS bands 4,2,1).
Landsat data have been instrumental to our increased understanding of forest fires, storm damage, agricultural trends, and urban growth. Studies using Landsat data have helped land managers keep track of the pace of urbanization in locations around the world.
The next Landsat satellite, now known as LDCM and later as Landsat 8 is scheduled for a launch in January 2013.

Jebus Crispies....
Posted 13 years agoSo, today was the day that I got that steroid injection in my spine. What a day.
When I came in for PT the person that was supposed to take me got tasked out for something else. The replacement guy eventually flaked out because he claimed to not have fuel. (Honestly, you live off post why don't you bring your ACU's with you to PT? There are showers if you get all sweaty.) So I had to say "Fuck this shit." and drive myself to the clinic. I called a guy in my unit and they eventually got someone who could drive my hoopdy back on post for me.
I decided to take the sedative because, why the fuck not? xÐ Fifteen minutes felt like it went by in two. The doc told me to get up and I just laid there. xÐ The nurse had to help me up and then I got a call from the guy that was supposed to drive my car. He couldn't find the place and I wasn't much help since I was groggy.
My back was sore as hell, I limped to my car and we stopped by Arbies since it was lunch anyway. I got to my room and played Minecraft for a few hours.
Around 1600 or so I got a call from the training room NCO which I told him several times that I have no cell signal in the barracks. Fucking idiot. Turns out, I came down for orders for Recruiter. :|
He still wanted to talk to me about something so I had to get unnaked and break quarters just to figure out what he wanted. This is when I found out how sore my back was. It fucking hurt to walk that far and to stand up. He asked me about some stupid shit that could have waited until tomorrow anyway.
My back felt better after I took a long, hot bath. I was pissed to find a bandaid in the tub after I was done. I hate roommates. But there is some good news. I placed an order for custom patches last week and they are ready. It has a fox on it and "Blitzkrieg" under it. It has a circular boarder. I had enough material left over for another patch so I had one made for
redmp too. His is the same except his will have "Red" under the fox. :Þ
Anyways, I should find out if it worked in the next few days. In a way I hope it didn't because then I can just get a MedBoard and not have to worry about a silly detail with power tripping senior NCOs or fucking recruiting.... Gah, I do not have the personality to be one of those. >.<

The Constitutional Case for Marriage Equality
Posted 13 years agoOn June 12, 1967, the U.S. Supreme Court struck down bans on interracial marriage in more than a dozen states in the case of Loving v. Virginia. Today, the highest court in the United States may soon take on the issue of marriage equality for gay and lesbian relationships. Attorneys David Boies and Theodore B. Olson are hoping the case of Perry v. Schwarzenegger will further establish marriage as a fundamental right of citizenship. Also featured are John Podesta, President of the Center for American Progress, Cato Institute Chairman Robert A. Levy and Cato Executive Vice President David Boaz.

And now for some cool shit:
Revel in Earth as Art. Make sure you watch in glorious 1080p. Landsat missions were launched for scientific purposes, but they make up one of the most awe-inspiring collections of beautiful images of our home planet.
For the last few centuries, artists have been exploring Earth's untamed and awe-inspiring vistas, often as an antidote to life in the modern world. They evoked the grandeur of the Hudson River, the peace of Scandinavian fiords, or the omnipotent power of the ocean. This romantic ideal today has gained a new vantage point, from space, and a new set of brushes for capturing the beauty of our planet.
Landsat images feature colors tuned to record geological or even human forces at work. More than that, though, this great gallery of Earth explores its timeless beauty, its uncertain path forward.
So take this tour of Earth's great landforms as seen from space. We travel to Africa and the Sahara and Namib deserts, to Argentina and Bolivia, the American heartland, and the great Canadian land and ice forms. Then it's on to Greenland, Iceland, Russia, India, China, and finally the continent down under.
We wrap our journey in a small corner of the vast Great Sandy Desert. The satellite has brought out the scarring action of natural wildfires. The narrow sand dunes that cut across the scene are like cracks on an ancient brittle canvas. A masterpiece, from the turbulent imagination of an artist, whose brushes are wind, and fire, and time.
The mind-blowing answer comes from a theory describing the birth of the universe in the first instant of time.
The universe has long captivated us with its immense scales of distance and time.
How far does it stretch? Where does it end... and what lies beyond its star fields... and streams of galaxies extending as far as telescopes can see?
These questions are beginning to yield to a series of extraordinary new lines of investigation... and technologies that are letting us to peer into the most distant realms of the cosmos...
But also at the behavior of matter and energy on the smallest of scales.
Remarkably, our growing understanding of this kingdom of the ultra-tiny, inside the nuclei of atoms, permits us to glimpse the largest vistas of space and time.
In ancient times, most observers saw the stars as a sphere surrounding the earth, often the home of deities.
The Greeks were the first to see celestial events as phenomena, subject to human investigation... rather than the fickle whims of the Gods.
One sky-watcher, for example, suggested that meteors are made of materials found on Earth... and might have even come from the Earth.
Those early astronomers built the foundations of modern science. But they would be shocked to see the discoveries made by their counterparts today.
The stars and planets that once harbored the gods are now seen as infinitesimal parts of a vast scaffolding of matter and energy extending far out into space.
Just how far... began to emerge in the 1920s.
Working at the huge new 100-inch Hooker Telescope on California's Mt. Wilson,
astronomer Edwin Hubble, along with his assistant named Milt Humason, analyzed the light of fuzzy patches of sky... known then as nebulae.
They showed that these were actually distant galaxies far beyond our own.
Hubble and Humason discovered that most of them are moving away from us. The farther out they looked, the faster they were receding.
This fact, now known as Hubble's law, suggests that there must have been a time when the matter in all these galaxies was together in one place.
That time... when our universe sprung forth... has come to be called the Big Bang.
How large the cosmos has gotten since then depends on how long its been growing... and its expansion rate.
Recent precision measurements gathered by the Hubble space telescope and other instruments have brought a consensus...
That the universe dates back 13.7 billion years.
Its radius, then, is the distance a beam of light would have traveled in that time ... 13.7 billion light years.
That works out to about 1.3 quadrillion kilometers.
In fact, it's even bigger.... Much bigger. How it got so large, so fast, was until recently a deep mystery.
That the universe could expand had been predicted back in 1917 by Albert Einstein, except that Einstein himself didn't believe it...
until he saw Hubble and Humason's evidence.
Einstein's general theory of relativity suggested that galaxies could be moving apart because space itself is expanding.
So when a photon gets blasted out from a distant star, it moves through a cosmic landscape that is getting larger and larger, increasing the distance it must travel to reach us.
In 1995, the orbiting telescope named for Edwin Hubble began to take the measure of the universe... by looking for the most distant galaxies it could see.
Taking the expansion of the universe into account, the space telescope found galaxies that are now almost 46 billion light years away from us in each direction... and almost 92 billion light years from each other.
And that would be the whole universe... according to a straightforward model of the big bang.
But remarkably, that might be a mere speck within the universe as a whole, according to a dramatic new theory that describes the origins of the cosmos.
It's based on the discovery that energy is constantly welling up from the vacuum of space in the form of particles of opposite charge... matter and anti-matter.

Posted 13 years agoIn the United States of Jesusland which the Republicans envision for our future, is it really worth being born when you're fucked from the start?

Funny story
Posted 13 years agoSo, I drove a few soldiers to chow today. One picked up a cock ring and asked what it was. I yelled, "Don't touch that!" He dropped it and freaked out slightly. I was laughing for about 15 minutes. I laughed so hard that I thought I was going to throw up.
He told me not to tell him what it was until he washed his hands. On the way to the battery, he wiped his hands all over windows and door handles of the other batteries. I was still laughing by the time he was done washing his hands. That is when I told him what it was, and then he rubbed his hand on the face of an oblivious soldier that just walked in. xÐ
Good times. :Þ

When I'm in suit,
Posted 14 years agoDo and Don'tStole this shit from
shadow-da-wolf's profile.If I'm in suit:
Do's
-Hug me! But ask first please!
-Take pictures of/with me! I'm always happy to take pictures with people! I prefer action shots over pose shots.
-Be gentle with my suit! I'll be just as gentle with yours! I know how much time and effort goes into building and purchasing a suit, I don't want you to have to worry about it, so please please make sure you don't make me go through it either!
-Talk to me! I talk in suit, I've got a moving jaw and it's me so there's no reason to be quiet!
DO NOT
-Do not randomly hump me!
-Do not do the naughty with me while I'm in suit!
-Do not pull my tail!
-Do not ask me to be your mate.
-Do not grope me!!!
-Do not ask if you can yiff me!
Otherwise I'm an easy-going and open person, feel free to chat it up with me. :Ð

Last but not least:
Oh HELLLLLLLLLLLLLLllllllLLLLLLLLLLLLL NO!
Posted 14 years agoSo, campaigners for Rick Santorum called me asking to stand up for christian values and defend marriage which they define as being between a man and a woman. ............ Aww hellllllllllllllllllllll NAW! Fuck that douche. How the hell is someone like that even taken seriously in this day and age? If he tried to talk to me in person I would probably knock him out and break a few ribs.
This has been a rant of a Gay Soldier with progressive (and slightly libertarian) views.
