Bloomingfurs weekly update Sept 2nd.
Posted 13 years agoSo its looking rainy this week and that means we'll have to move the BBQ on Sept 3rd to a rain site. Unless there are any objections it will be moved to the Belfry (Mori's place) 607 W. Kirkwood major cross road would be Rodgers (there's a Circle K gas station there). This is of course the Birthday BBQ for Shannon, Keyoki and Mori.
Set up starts at noon and we should have food ready to go around 1. Dress for fun and hope to see you there.
Also remember that the next fursuit bowling at Classic Bowling Lanes will be on Sept 22nd

Labor Day. September 3rd
Posted 13 years agoContinueing what shall hopefully be a weekly update.
Bloomingfurs will be hosting a BBQ party at Lower Cascades in Bloomington IN. This will be to celebrate Labor Day but even more importantly the Birthdays of several furs; Shannon Mori and Keyoke (born on the 5th but well include him anyway) there might be a few other furs celebrating but its still pending as to their being there.
We will start set up in the park at approximately noon and hopefully can start serving food at 1.
This is a BYOB event, and bringing food or snacks along to share would be appreciated.
Mori will be bringing his two Nerf melee weapons, if other people have one to bring along they should for bigger battles.
Because its a birthday party there will be a cake (maybe more than one)
We were not able to get on of the shelters so bring along folding chairs.
Supplies we could really use; Cups, plates, silverware, sodas, napkins, (likely other stuff too that I'm forgetting)
There might be a few modifications to this, Shannon and Mori are still hammering out a few details.
Also don't forget bowling on the 25th read here for details

July 8th! mark your calendars. Also Camping?
Posted 13 years agoSunday July 8th we'll be having a gathering at Rachel's cafe. Bring your tails and ears and your love for fun!
We'll be playing board and card games and have plenty of tables for those who want to sit back and talk or do art. Rachel's has a very nice menu that is very reasonably priced so bring some pocket money for a tasty snack.
Rachel's is located at 300 East Third Street in Bloomington IN.
We'll start gathering around 1 PM and will start the games at 2. There is a band playing at 7 or 8 so out of courtesy we'll try to finish up our games by 6 PM.
I'm hoping to make this a recurrent event with fursuiting in the future. So lets all have a great time.
Camping!!!
shanniecat is wanting to organize a camping trip. If you are interested let her know. LINK

Posted 13 years agoSo this is folks, tomorrow is the fun day. Please read for some important information.
First off the Meet will start at noon at Oliver Winery (8024 North State Road 37 Bloomington, IN 47404) but we will be gathering from 11 to 11:30AM at Mori's apartment (607 W. Kirkwood Bloomington IN) for carpooling. If you can help give a ride please show up, we might have 3 to 5 furs needing a lift.
Secondly this is a picnic at a winery (Derp) that means a few things, wine from Oliver will be available for purchase. This is the only alcohol allowed there and we can not have any minors drinking on their property. I don't care about what happens once we leave but while there We OBEY THE RULES! There will be non-alcoholic beverages as well and those are fine for everyone.
Third, Yes minors can attend. They just are not allowed to drink the wine.
Fourth, again PICNIC. if you want to bring something tasty to share please do. we won't have grills or stoves so nothing that requires heating please.
Fifth, lets have some fun, but remember we are guests. I'll be bringing a frisbee and my two Nerf fighting weapons but lets not annoy, intimidate or scare the other guests at the winery.
Sixth, Oliver is willing to allow us to wear fursuits, so this is a suit friendly event. :3
Seventh, There is no Seventh! stop looking at this.
Eighth: Wine tasting is $5 for 8 different wines, so a little cash can be a good thing.

June Second, a reminder on the picnic
Posted 13 years agoI hope everyone is as excited about this as I am.
Important! if you need a ride or can provide rides please let us know! I'm aware of possibly 3 furs that would like a ride out to Oliver.
I'll be bringing some BBQ chicken and possibly a 3 bean salad, and I encourage others to bring some light food as well.

A new web site and a welcome.
Posted 13 years agoFirst of all I'd like to thank
FennecHelix for making our new web site, Check it out at www.bloomingfurs.furrynews.com We'll try to keep it up to date with all our happenings and such.
Next up, it pleases me to say that
EvansvilleINFurs recently started and is getting events planned. More fur groups, gives furs more opportunities to get together and have fun. I hope everyone will join me in offering greetings and support.
Skoal and I are currently looking at making bat houses to put up around the area. For obvious reasons I'm a huge proponent of this, but really bat houses are a great thing. Bats help reduce the population of insects, notably the mosquito, and providing shelters they can comfortably use will help prevent them invading buildings. If you are interested in joining for a few carpentry project days please let us know.
Also lets not forget
Whoozfur picnic in Greenwood on the 19th. and our Oliver Winery picnic on June 2nd

Posted 13 years agoMidway between Bloomington and Martinsville on 37 is the lush gardens of Oliver Winery. A perfect place to go and hold a relaxing picnic. As a bonus if you are of age you can sample some of the wonderful wines they make.
We have received permission to fursuit and the gardens are available to all ages. However if we abuse the rules we will lose permission to have picnics there in the future, so no harassing the nonFurry customers and absolutely no underage drinking.
Bring light snacking food and outdoor fun stuff (like a frisbee)
The picnic will start at Noon, but those furs that need a ride and those that can give a ride should meet up at
Mori's place, (607 W. Kirkwood) between 11 and 11:30. If you need a ride or can provide rides please let us know so we can make sure everyone can attend.
Hope to see you there,
Mori.

Wolf Park fund raising!!!
Posted 13 years ago
bloomingfurs is forming at least one fund raising pack for Wolf Park a very worthy charity that is dear to many Indiana furries.
shanniecat is handleing the details and is offering art to our donors please read her postSo once more I forgot to take photos.
Posted 13 years agoI had discussed the need for Bloomingfurs pictures with several people and still I forgot to get out my camera during the Potluck.
My second mistake and this one I view as much worse was I missed a message from a fur that wanted to attend. In conversation with others at the party I realize I'm going to have to make a map for finding my place, just because I know where it is doesn't mean others will find it, as easily. I also will have to be a bit more forth coming on my policy of waiting til the week of the event to list my address, this habit of mine was an additional factor and I need to remember to be more forthcoming.
I would like to thank Arashiin, cirrus, anubis_x360, nekochen, drakin92, binks_wolf, keyoki, FennecHelix, fawkes0629, chepi, shanniecat, and Skoal_Evinrude for attending. I had a great time and enjoyed having all of your company.
The food was good, the conversations never stopped, we celebrated a Birthday (a few days early), we occupied Starbucks, we even got a shout out from a passing car.
Later this week Shannon and I should have our calendar ready for May and hopefully June as well. To those leaving IU (and Bloomington) for the summer have a great summer break and we will look forward to your return in the fall.

Posted 13 years agoOh sweet springtime! I'd love to scheduled the next Major Event earlier, I'd love to schedule it for tomorrow, I had so much fun last night (until I went to work) that I want it all again now. Sadly Bloomington and Fur make it tough. Scheduling it next weekend gives little lead time, the weekend after that is FCN, then the 20th -22nd is the city wide heaven&Hell of Little 500 so I have to put this on the 28th of April for the next planned major event.
- Saturday April 28th from 5 PM till ? come join the fun at Mori's place (the Belfry where else would the bat live?) for a potluck dinner and general hang out.
- Mori lives a 10 minute walk from Campus and a Bloomington Bus stop is right in front of his house.
- There is plenty of free parking in his neighborhood.
- Its preferred you bring a dish to share (POTLUCK DINNER) but if you really can't its cool, we still would like you to attend.
- The Belfry is fursuit friendly, so feel free to wear suit, ears, tails, badges. Bring your Furry Pride.
That said please remember that we(Shannon and myself<Mori>) encourage the advertisement of other fur related things. Did you know that last night Dodgerwolf and keyoki were doing a Livestream of fursuit making? If I hadn't been at work I likely would have been watching that. If you have anything fur related or just fun that you would like to share with the community please just Note me and I'll give it an announce.

This Friday (I believe the 24th) the new Puss in Boots movie comes out on DVD (Antonio Banderes/Shrek)I'll be picking it up and showing it that night. So if anyone wants to come over hangout and watch a fun movie, then get yourself some snacks and please come over.
I'll start the movie around 7:30 PM but feel free to come by earlier.
My phone is currently dead, so if you want to get a hold of me send a note here or to

Posted 14 years agoSo mark your calendars furs, because we have a furmeet.
WHO: Us, Ears and Tails will be cool but this isn't a Fursuit encouraged event.
WHEN: Saturday Feb 18th from 11 AM til we get chased out.
WHERE: Great Wall Chinese Restaurant, 2038 N Walnut St (Right by the Denny's)
WHY: Buffet lunch and general hangout.
HOW: Cost should be around 10 dollars a person for buffet and drink. We will reserve a room (free) so if you know you'll be there let us know so we can get the right room.
This is on the Bloomington Bus line.
March:
Still finishing my notes for this, but on the 13th several of us are looking at going to French Lick for a day at the water park staying overnight at the hotel, with time to hang out at the casino. This looks like it will cost around 50 (not including travel, food or gambling) but possibly less if we do floor spots in the hotel rooms. This is during the week of IU's Spring Break and a few days before FWA.
June:
Planned Bonfire and campout in Dean's wilderness.
I will edit this as more details worked out on planning.

After Event Wrap (1-28-12)
Posted 14 years agoI for one had a great time except when the pizza company screwed up the order, but even that worked out well.
A grand total of 9 furs showed up and the apartment was noisy with conversation. Thank you all for coming over, each of you made the night better.
We never got around to watching any movies but I view that as a positive, we didn't need a background stimulus to enjoy ourselves.
I hope to see more at our next event which looks like it is getting reworked. We're going to see about reserving a room at Great Wall Chinese Restaurant (2038 N Walnut St) for a lunch buffet party in February. I'll hope to have details posted in a few days.
In March would anyone be interested in a Spring Break trip down to French Lick? A few of us are thinking that the water park there looks like a lot of fun and the overnight prices for a room on Tuesdays is very reasonable.
We are still planning for the first bonfire camp out to be in June. Dean Wilderness is looking like the best bet. Halfway between Bloomington and Bedford it has plenty of space for tents and the like and an awesome firetower.
As always take care and be well, hope to see you all soon,
Mori
