You all might've noticed the lack of art lately. That would be because me and The Beast have moved into our very own apartment! Hurray! Whoo! Yippie! ESCAPE FROM BITCH MOUNTAIN WAS A RAGING SUCCESS!

While I have been occasionally working on commissions this past month, most of my energy has been going towards packing, cleaning, moving, etc. The sort of things you'd expect when you're picking up your life and moving on to bigger and better things.

That being said, please mind the dust as I put my new home together. Should only take about a week (we don't have much, which is a blessing) and then I'll be back to crankin' out art. <3

Well, to be completely honest, we made it back home about two days ago. Thing is, that same day that we pulled into our driveway was my first day back to work. >_> Quiet-sarcastic-Archer-hurraaaay~

While I loved being away from home and the usual obligations, I'm super happy to be back! Thing about roadlife is, we drove until we couldn't see straight and given that I can't draw in the car... I'm jonesin', HARD! Art art art, gimme nummy nummy art!

I'm currently working on revamping my Commission Prices, setting up a visual menu for my rates, and looking at ways to have PWYW streams on my days off! I'd generally like to stream more, anyway. It's super fun! ...when my computer + art program decide to cooperate. >:l

So, still on my epic road trip across some states. Me and the Ox got a few polite stares in Arkansas n' Oklahoma. Some not-so-polite glances when we took out our smartphones after ordering our food at various places. But you know, cultural differences. XD

(Oh my god the foooooood. Everything is swimming in gravy and I love it.)

But... Amarillo, Texas. You know, I like run down towns as much as the next artist, and it was quaint. In a way. Until we got to the ATTITUDES.

I know folks can't help where they come from, and so I try not to judge based on looks. But holy shit the High And Mighty nonsense... You live in a SHANTY TOWN. Do not act like we aren't good enough to for your fucking hotel. G'damn.

We walk into this place and this ol' fat white guy looked like he smelled shit the second he saw us. His "Can I... help you?" Was so cartoonishly douchey I was left stunned and blinking. When we asked for a room, polite as can be, he said they had been booked up the night before and needed 2 hrs or so to clean a room.

Like... That'd have been way more fuckin' convincing if you weren't sneering at us the entire time, lickbag. Don't know if it was cuz I'm brown, or if me and Ox just scream "younger riff raff" cuz we wear graphic shirts and not khakis/polos, but either way.. Fuck that guy. Ugh. The parking lot wasn't even full. -.-

We ended up driving 50 more miles and finding a nice little Inn with a sweet southern goth. She was lovely.

Should be back in Cali in about 2 days. Then the regular arting should commence! <3

So I've been pretty productive lately (not everything I do is posted. Which is for the best, trust ;P) and I've been splashing about in the big NSFW pool that is adult art. I've been sketching a variety of body types, positions, etc, but with no urge to put my own characters in these situations. I mean, I have promiscuous characters (boy howdy) but it just hasn't felt like 'their' sort of images.

That being said, I see a lot of YCHs around... I have mixed opinions about things (YCH, Adoptables, etc) but I've never been one to say "NO ONE SHOULD EVER DO A THING EVER". I mean, artistic and personal freedom, yo. And I'm always pro my fellow artists making money. :)

I was wondering, given that the YCH market is pretty darn saturated already, if it's something I should even try to do? Is there something else that people want to see but feel that artists don't listen? I'm honestly curious about your opinions!

In case you were curious about mine:

On the subject of Adoptables, I never understood them as-is because if I wanted a character I would just create one. That's a very me-ccentric way to look at it, and I know there's people who aren't as creative, or are tired of making the same things, and like pointing at a design and going 'ooh! I want that!'. Totally cool. And I've seen some really neat Adoptable ideas that go along with the art, story-wise.

But as an artist, if someone makes a bunch of adoptables and they don't sell... I see artists getting upset. And that doesn't make sense to me. Either they sell or they don't. Shouldn't get mad at anyone, or feel like you're a crappy artist because of it. Art is only a part of it, and I think the concepts are really the parts that sell.

On the subject of YCH, I kind of wrinkled my nose at the idea at first for no other reason than it seemed... assembly-line. But honestly, the more I've thought about it the more I can nod my head and go "okay, yeah I see the appeal for both artists and commissioners".

Honestly I don't think I had a serious issue with either Adoptables or YCHs, because my opinions seem to be fully rooted in 'whatever floats your boat!'. If it sells, it sells, and clearly there's a market for it. Who am I to yuck anyone's yum? The Grand Poobah of art? HARDLY. xD

So, thoughts? Opinions? I just like hearing what's on your guys' minds, too. :D

Oh this is the WORST feeling. I finally have a day off and I am DYING to draw, but... I'm stumped. There's Zootopia fanart, art of my OCs, just... so much I could do but the thought of actually starting something sounds awful. I want to draw, but don't want to draw? How does that even work, brain!?

Bleh. Feel free to suggest something you might want to see. I always like drawing stuff more when I'm making someone happy with my art.

Deadpool, and now Zootopia. What a time to be alive.

These two movies, despite being wildly different, had the same exact effect on me.

I do not like going to the theaters (at least I didn't until good stuff came out!) but after watching Deadpool and Zootopia, I walked out and wanted to immediately pay for another full priced ticket to watch it again. Deadpool was sold out, and I saw Zootopia during the last showing at 11pm last night.

Either way, just... go see Zootopia. Not that I have to tell half of you twice.

And if I can be candid, I went into it with the explicit intent not to sexualize a children's movie. ...sigh. THE MOVIE DOES IT ITSELF. Jesus. Some parts. Nick Wilde's fucking FACE. UGH. SMUG HANDSOME JERK UGH and I don't even LIKE foxes...

While you're probably not gonna see any Zootopia lewdness from me, I can't fault anyone for drawing it-- as long as the characters are treated with respect, because they've earned mine.

As the Boyfriend says, "No Judy Hopps crying in a whorehouse pictures. >:C" Because of course, that happens to every friggin' female fictional character. Shudder. =.='

Anyway. Zootopia is REALLY REALLY GOOD and REALLY ENJOYABLE and you should all watch it multiple times. :3c

Me and The Beast finally completed Undertale. It's a short game, but it took us so long because our work schedules don't really sync up a lot of the time and we had to play it together. <3

So... my part time job recently held interviews for a few Lead positions. Since I finished school, want to help my coworkers, and know it'd look good on my resume-- I applied.

Lead? No. Supervisor. BAM.

I impressed them so much in the interview that they gave me a double-promotion and put me in charge of an entire department (my old one). It's a lot of work getting things back into ship-shape (the department has been lacking in strong leadership) but it's pretty rewarding.

That, and the harder I work at my day job the more I itch to draw when I get home. o.O I'm not gonna fight that urge, lemme tell ya!

So in an M. Night Shyamalan-esque twist, I just graduated college. I mean that in-- I got really overwhelmed with 5 studio classes, an Internship, the classes being cut up in such a way that I had 1 day to work on assignments for 3 different intense subjects... anyway! I figured I'd just fail one class in order to make sure I could pass the rest. One more semester wasn't gonna kill me, right?

Well, the professor of that expected-to-fail class gave me a B. I passed all my classes. All my credits have been completed. I am DONE. The ceremony is in May, but as of right now I am D-O-N-E. Isn't that awesome?!

I think it's awesome.

There, now that I have your attention...

I'd really like to get back into doing commissions again (at least during the holiday break), but I realize that while I have grown as an artist I don't really... have any new art up to show for it. So let's fix that!

I'll be accepting replies to this journal up until... 2 PM Pacific Standard Time, 12/28/12. Then I'll take whoever has entered and do what I can to make sure the 3 winners are chosen at random. Put 'em in a randomizer, roll dice, something of that nature.

First: Worth 15$. 1 character in full color with a simple background.

Second: Worth 10$. 1 character inked either traditionally and scanned, or digitally inked.
