Pleated face masks are in production
Posted 5 years agoAfter testing several prototypes I have a working pattern now. I'm in the process of pre-washing (for shrinkage) and cutting fabric for the masks. Each mask is $15 each plus shopping and includes an external wire pocket on the reverse side and an internal pocket to add a filter (non-woven material). If you would like a wire added they are $1 each. To request a mask or masks please email jasperbluecanary [at] gmail [dot] come.
A preview of the masks and a few of the front pieces I have cut out can be viewed here, with additional photos in the reply: https://twitter.com/jasperbluenc/st.....04130660028416
I will have more prints available soon. My cord is scheduled to arrive tomorrow and I have 18 gage wire and toggles in stock. The toggles allow the cords to slide through for adjusting the fit without needing to tie them.

Production update
Posted 5 years agoGreetings everyone. I'm currently at my studio. Life has been very surreal for the past few weeks. I have lost several months of work. I've been told of the various benefit offerings to help small businesses and freelancers, so I will look into that next week.
If you would like to help support my work please visit https://www.etsy.com/shop/bluecanarygallery. At this time I can only fulfill orders from the store and bandana requests. To see available snap-and-go large bandana print options to order please visit https://drive.google.com/open?id=1a.....4aq0jD-_Wp2ut8.
As of March 26th Mecklenburg County, North Carolina has a stay at home order in place. Additional counties have been ordered to recently, and as of Monday, March 30 through April 29th it will be a statewide executive order.
There are a number of restrictions during this period, and among the approved essential things I am allowed to do is go to the post office. I will be limiting package drop offs at USPS to every two weeks starting April 9th. As daily life begins to normalize post office drop offs will resume to weekly.
I am currently working on trying to get back into streaming so anyone can tune in and watch me work. My hope is to get it sorted by next week.

I'm back from Blue Ridge Furfare 2020
Posted 5 years agoMy boyfriend Dave and I got a late start as we were delayed heading to Asheville Thursday of the event. In an effort to get everything done in time and many late nights I forgot to bring my wheelchair with me (I use it part time). We got in around 5:30PM, found parking, and brought over our dealer table items.
Set up went fine. I asked at Registration in the lobby area where the Dealer area was and Flash (chairman) directed us over the area (Room B, one of the two locations). He asked if either of us needed clips, which only Dave needed. Set up took about 2.75 hrs. I forgot to time it, but it seemed about right. A few vendors had table locations changed, and mine was placed on the left side to allow for easier accessibility, which was very much appreciated! I got a huge reminder on Sunday morning about my foot injury when it began acting up and made it worse during tear down that evening. Two dealers offered to swap spots in order to help accommodate each others' set ups and it worked out.
Thursday evening Dave and I drove a hour out to Tennessee to visit Entropy and her fiancee', Mel, and Sirkus. All of us seemed to have additional work to finish.
Friday morning I had a message relayed to me that an additional table needed to be added and my table might have some of it blocked. I skipped going to a copy place to laminate a few things and headed straight to the convention. Tilting the left side of the table outward fixed the issue and I swapped my bandana display to the right side of the table.
My new neighbor to my left and awesome friend, Kris from Inimitable Studios, was an awesome table neighbor! She's an awesome person to talk to, we shared silly internet things, hung out after the dealer room closing, and picked up a bandana, several Achievement tags, and an adorable badge commission of her rainbow platypi Penelope. I surprised her with two of my charms and she gifted me a lil dangle plush bandana. I will treasure my smol happy banana forever.
Friday had a rush of attendees pop by the table, Saturday was quieter as there was the donut social happening, and a bit on Sunday. More traffic came into the room after the first hour of opening. I suspect attendees may have also stayed up late and slept in as well.
Early morning Saturday around 12:30AM Dave and I popped downstairs to where the dance was. Music was playing, but the lights were on. Most of the attendees were having fun at the Pajama Party in their pajamas, fursuits, or kigurumis enjoying card games, running around, or talking. Milk and cookies were provided and it was a great atmosphere overall. I'd love to see the Pajama Party happen again.
Dealers were offered a boxed lunch and a dinner buffet each night. It was highly appreciated! Thank you BRFF again for helping feed us!
I saw lots of familiar faces and met a lot of new folks. I periodically gave out Post-it note sketches (if I recall, there may have been more that included a ferret, someone's character who asked to have it laminated, blue and white rabbit, and a goat), and silly messages (a few included "RUNNING ON DETERMINATION," "HONORARY BAD DRAGON MASCOT," "PRETTY FLY FOR A PLATYPI" and an edited Showered Today badge that had "DID YOU" Shower (ED covered) Today "?" (added). I later laminated the rabbit one.
A lot of folks coming by the table complimented the bandanas, happy to see I had lanyards, remembering Dogbomb (I have ALS fundraiser stickers featuring his character), and enjoying seeing my charms, stickers, pins, and art print designs. For the first time I ran out of fox stickers, which were recently restocked.
Sunday tear down took about a hour. I had sold out of enough bandanas to condense the right side of the table and removed the tall display. I put stock boxes in my luggage and would take out items as I needed for purchases.
I am still blown away at how well my bandana work has been received. Thank you again to everyone who came by the table and to those whom had made a purchase!
The event did really well with its attendance for its first year, friendly atmosphere, and friendly staff. I'd be more than happy to return. Thank you again for an awesome convention!

TFF2020 was awesome!
Posted 5 years agoHi folks. I am back from Texas Furry Fiesta. Also extremely tired. I was at Blue Canary Gallery for the event, which had a selection of art (prints and custom), stickers, pins, humorous tags, and bandanas.
My overall review is that it was great! Friendly staff, great neighbors (FiGMENTS and SpazzyCat Studios), and awesome attendees! Trisket had an embroidery setup at SpazzyCat and gave the go ahead to let folks come by and order embroidery work done on any of my bandanas. I'm always happy to signal boost.
Something very cool was Dealer staff stopped by each table and asked if anyone needed change. I've NEVER seen any event I've vended at do that. I'm generally okay with preparing change, but at previous events I've known folks who could have really used the assist.
Check in was quick and easy. Load in time on Thursday was 6P-10P and 8A-11A on Friday. I started at 7:30P on Thursday evening and in total I spent about 4.5 hrs setting up. Tear down was a bit faster at around 2.5 hours. I have to kneel or sit as I have a damaged foot and it makes doing anything with a lot of upright movement difficult, making setup and tear down more time consuming.
When the doors opened on Friday I watched a lot of attendees zoom by. Most did their rounds. I was located towards the front right of the room, but placement didn't seem to be a major factor. The open space to my left (stage right) did make for better accessibility for set up, tear down, and assisting attendees coming by the table. A lot of folks pointed out the cute bird plush props, art, and bandanas they liked, which seemed to get the most attention.
Friends checked on me each day to see if I needed anything. I came to the event solo, but usually my boyfriend is with me. I ended up Friday and Saturday grabbing two croissant sandwiches and slowly eating them to help tied me over. To be silly Figment suggested drawing on a wrapper to hide my face while eating. Challenge accepted! It looked hilarious (cartoon drawing of Dodge, my sabertoothed-cat character). I felt bad when Blaez came by on Friday to see if I wanted anything from one of the food trucks as a number of folks stopped by the table.
For the most part there were minor gaps with attendees visiting the table, and multitasking was necessary as I didn't want to ignore anyone. For the first time ever, on Saturday I had a line. I'm still blown away and feeling the love!
I made sure to thank everyone as I am incredibly appreciated of everyone who came by! I was a smol ball of stress until Friday evening. Folks would periodically pop by to thank me for the bandanas they enjoyed wearing.
I noted 14 bandana order requests (I ran out of time to take photos of prints) and a few graphic requests. I had to unfortunately cut back on art commission requests, with project requests needing to be done in the evening. On Friday evening I stopped to have dinner with friends and a panel with three requests (1 sketch and 2 art badges) and was up until 4A. On Saturday I opted to skip a concert, had a quick dinner alone with two requests (sketch and badge) and was up until 1:30A.
One item I had available were stickers featuring Dogbomb and $58 raised to donate to the ALS Orange County chapter in California. Any time someone offered an extra amount to keep as a tip I added it to the donations. I'll be at Blue Ridge Furfare and Furry Weekend Atlanta, with the donation total being sent in after then.
I stayed Thursday and Sunday with AnimeCat, Zeb, and Blaez, and then Friday and Saturday with Nature Nerd (Ash) and Hiro Friday and Saturday at the event's main hotel. Dorian, Barky Foxtrot, Kael Corgi, Eddie Bear, Kipper, Lauren, Shrag, Monoyasha, Cy, Entropy, Donryu, Sheba, Glacier, and a number of others found me. Feel free to give a shout if you stopped by!
Overall I would be happy to return! Thank you everyone for making the trip and event memorable!

I'll be at Texas Furry Fiesta!
Posted 5 years agoA table became available so I will be in the TFF Dealers Den this year! I'm very excited. Please visit me at Blue Canary Gallery table 01. The website will be updated soon.
I'll be premiering a few new items including mugs, lanyards, stickers, and bandanas. Dhole Whip enamel pin pre-orders will be available.
Since notice for the table opening is getting close to the convention and one I've been approved for since last year are within two weeks of each other I'm having to push through four weeks of gradual prep work into a fast paced two weeks. For anyone who is waiting on work from me I will be having to pause until prep work is complete. My normal schedule will resume once everything is ready to go.

Preparing for MFF 2019 / charity donation
Posted 6 years agoAlmost done with everything! Finishing up a display by tomorrow and then will be posting preview photos. Sunday and Monday I just plan on finishing art to deliver and as much as my backlog as I can finish.
Shout out to Ren! Sorry if I seemed off earlier in Hobby Lobby. I think my blood sugar was dropping. Robert and I got some drinks over at World Market and food at Ikea. Started feeling better after then.
Tomorrow I plan on taking photos with my Nikon of my MFF charity donation. You can view a preview here: https://twitter.com/jasperbluenc/st.....37256293916677.
Back in March I had the opportunity to visit Club 33. They let me bring a bunch of of their nice thick (thicc?) napkins home and I drew on one to donate. I figured folks would appreciate a portrait of Judy and Nick together.
The napkin is mounted on acid-free matte board with UV glass. Packaging for safely transport and hanging supplies will be provided.
There's a bonus story about how I ended up getting completely soaked the same day as I had gotten the napkin for the winner if they choose.

Telegram...
Posted 6 years agoI've been asked a lot about this lately. I don't use Telegram.
Recently I decided to try giving it a second go, but for web based only. Maybe it would be good just for convention updates and meetings on an as needed basis. Trying to use Telegram with my phone has a long list of problems associated with it, so maybe using a computer would be okay.
Nope. I can't log in via a browser. When I tried it as an installed program I can not increase the font (everything looks so tiny) and any chats I had visited were gone upon using the program the next day.
I might try it again in the future, but for now I have phone, Furaffinity (slow responses, not the best method), email, Twitter, and additional ways to be contacted.
